Peter Rosenberg Clarifies Why Sheff G & Sleepy Hallow Missed Summer Jam: “I Did Not Get Them Taken Off”

Peter Rosenberg says he had nothing to do with Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow not performing at Hot 97’s Summer Jam festival over the weekend. Following the two rapper’s appearance at Donald Trump’s latest rally in the Bronx, last month, Rosenberg called them out for the move and recommended pulling them off the lineup. Instead, he says both rappers voluntarily decided not to perform.

“While I was annoyed about the Sheff G-Sleepy Hallow-Trump thing, I did not get them taken off of Summer Jam,” Rosenberg clarified in a video on social media. “Number one, I don’t have the power to do that. Number two, even though it was annoying to me and I disagree, I would never try to take money out of people’s pockets. I have never done that in the history of my career. I have only tried to put money in people’s pockets and supported more artists in this city than many people are aware. Many of those artists are watching this right now and they know.”

Rosenberg then clarified that Sleepy Hallow “removed himself from Summer Jam” while “Sheff G was a whole different situation that I’ll let them explain — it’s not my business to explain.” He continued: “It is all love with me and those guys. It was a moment where I disagreed and we make jokes on the radio, we talk every morning. Some people may know, politically, I disagree with it, but that’s okay.” Check out his full explanation of the situation below.

Both Sheff G and Sleepy previously responded to Rosenberg’s criticism on their Instagram Stories. Sleepy labeled him a “d*ck eater” while Sheff offered a more nuanced explanation. Be on the lookout for further updates on Peter Rosenberg on HotNewHipHop.

5 Reasons Why Drake & Snowd4y’s “Wah Gwan Delilah” Isn’t That Bad

And for his next trick, after turning J. Cole into a horny mess on Cash Cobain’s “Grippy,” Kendrick Lamar will turn this Toronto superstar from “Mob Ties” to small fries. At least, that’s what a lot of fans think about these new features from the Compton creative’s rivals, especially Drake’s recent remix of “Wah Gwan Delilah” by the 6ix’s hot new Internet personality, Snowd4y. People are clowning the “Hey There Delilah” cover endlessly online, and while we completely understand why given the context of the rap beef, we also don’t think it’s as bad as some might say.

After all, this is far from Drake’s first foray into putting on local Toronto culture in a cheeky way, and far from his first “bad” song. Remember when he included “Ratchet Happy Birthday” on 2018’s Scorpion right after losing to Pusha T? Well, this kind of invokes that dissonance, but in a way that’s much more on the nose and impossible to ignore. As for what The Boy’s future holds in the short and long term, we can only guess at what shifts and switch-ups will happen next or when he will return to straight-up bars. But right now, we can assess that “Wah Gwan Delilah” doesn’t deserve your ire: just a chuckle before you move on to something else.

It’s Still A Cover

You’re telling me that, meme status or not, “Hey There Delilah” by The Plain White T’s isn’t one of the most recognizable and beloved cheesy 2000s hits? At least the catchiness is still there, and Snowd4y even plays with it by fitting a comically long list of Canadian financial institutions to scam in one of the chorus melodies. Drake is a master of the earworm, and this song provides a killer set of tunes for him to show off with. For some, maybe the fact that this is a cover and not an original song about Toronto is what makes it so corny and cringe; after all, the T’s are from Illinois. But if it was an original song, people might not have been able to see it for what it is: just a fun meme song that, more likely than not, only the 6ix will understand.

“Wake Up The City”

Toronto is not like us, and that’s totally fine. In fact, it’s cool to see the city get a huge, overt, albeit comically exaggerated ode to the city and its culture, and if you disagree, think of all the cornball traditions that you’re so proud of your hometown for. What makes “Wah Gwan Delilah” carry particular weight (in both the positive and negative sense) is that it came out a month after Kendrick Lamar made fun of the 6ix and its slang and accents on “Euphoria” and then repped his origins with a West Coast banger. If nothing else, Drake’s decision to stick to Toronto this time around (or to his close collaborator Sexyy Red) seems impossible to interpret as anything other than him reclaiming this narrative. However, while he’s embracing his identity, hopefully, this parody-bordering auto-crooning isn’t all he does to present this to the world these days.

Drake’s Timing

These are the “summer vibes” Drake was talking about when the Kendrick Lamar beef ended… at least, presumably. As we mentioned before, “Wah Gwan Delilah” and the “BBL Drizzy”-sampling “U My Everything” feature for Sexyy Red see him really lean into the negative perception around him that tracks like “Euphoria” propelled to the forefront of conversation. If Drizzy can’t out-rap you, he’ll definitely try to out-moment you or go viral to get himself back to his usual path. But this release right after the beef cleanses the palate, reminds us of his poppier side, and oddly enough, sets up his eventual return to rap. We know that Aubrey will get back to subliminal disses and hard barwork eventually, but he thrives off of the push and pull of his duality. He’ll make you dance and wave your hand, threaten you, and dance again to make you forget.

It’s Just Funny

Be it mockingly or genuinely, there’s something pretty funny about Drake’s bars, the autotune on both performances, and the raw plainness and simplicity of the cover. If you think this was at all a serious effort, just go look at his IG Story. The 37-year-old raps about being cheesed over a girl’s ‘Gram and going on double dates with his friend in a shiesty… come on. Snowd4y himself is also unsurprisingly gut-busting here, even if you might be laughing at his vocals more than you might be laughing at his lyrics. There’s an inherent meme quality to covering “Hey There Delilah” in this fashion and attaching someone as big as Drake to it, and we can’t deny that it’s entertaining. Can’t we let the 6ix God have some unserious fun, or at least joke about literally anything that isn’t serious culture vultures and grooming allegations?

Drake’s Vocal Tone

Drake may not be going hard on “Wah Gwan Delilah” or trying to best himself, but it’s a crime how good he can sound without breaking a sweat. Say what you will about his technical performance and vocal effects, but you can’t deny that he has one of the most distinct and recognizable voices in popular music that takes up a lot of space whenever it appears. The “Virginia Beach” artist is a rare instance of a tone and delivery that works so well across most things that you throw at it, especially with melodies as infectious as those on “Hey There Delilah.” But the sad reality is that it feels like he wants to test these limits and see just how far fans will go for it. This is just the latest of many examples in which these experiments resulted in a bad song… but not a terrible moment.

The Dream, Producer For Beyonce, Rihanna, & More, Faces Rape Accusation In New Lawsuit

The Dream, best known for his work as a producer with Beyonce, Rihanna, JAY-Z, and many more artists, is facing a rape accusation in a new lawsuit. Chanaaz Mangroe, a former protégée of Dream’s who performed as Channii Monroe, claims he used promises about her career to pressure her into an abusive relationship back in 2015. In the lawsuit, she recalls him allegedly forcing her to have sex, strangling her and even making a video recording of one of their sexual encounters and threatening to publicize it. She also makes accusations of sex trafficking.

“What Dream did to me made it impossible to live the life I envisioned for myself and pursue my goals as a singer and songwriter,” Mangroe said in a statement to The New York Times. “Ultimately, my silence has become too painful, and I realized that I need to tell my story to heal. I hope that doing so will also help others and prevent future horrific abuse.” She filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Cardi B & BIA Are Beefing: Breaking Down The Animosity

The rap feud season keeps on giving, and it looks like it’s the ladies’ turn now. After Drake and Kendrick Lamar charged the hip-hop scene with their heated diss war, female MCs Cardi B and BIA seem to have taken the baton from their male colleagues. The duo has been going at each other via social media and diss tracks, and it looks like they are ready to go all the way. Cardi B’s relationship with BIA hasn’t always been frosty. In 2021, BIA lauded Cardi B via several posts on X, formerly known as Twitter. However, that is now in the past, as the rappers seem to have lost any love they had for each other.

Cardi B and BIA’s beef got out of hand in March after suggestions that Cardi B was imitating BIA’s style. Since then, the women have not held back in their war of words. Their beef got so heated that Cardi B threatened to sue Bia. Fans wonder how far the women are willing to go in their beef, which is quickly gaining much attention. Here’s all to know about the feuding women’s animosity.

It Was All Love Between Cardi B and BIA Before

Cardi B and BIA previously had a cordial relationship. In 2021, Cardi B became the first female rapper to have a solo single certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America after “Bodak Yellow” sold over 10 million units. She received multiple compliments from fans and industry bigwigs after achieving the feat. BIA was one of those who commended Cardi B on her achievement. BIA made several posts on X congratulating Cardi B. One of the posts read, “Congrats to @iamcardib. Breaking barriers for the gorls.” In another post, BIA responded to a fan who said she was the new girl inspired by Cardi B. She wrote, “If you’re not inspired you’re not paying attention. You can at least be a fan of someone’s work ethic, growth, and contributions. & I’ve been writing for 10years, what she’s accomplished is NOT EASY.”

BIA Says She Doesn’t Know Cardi B In Real Life

The first sign of a brewing feud between Cardi B and BIA came in March 2023. Then, there were rumors that the two rappers were beefing. BIA addressed the rumors via an Instagram live video. Per Forbes, she said, “I didn’t switch up on anybody because I don’t know Cardi in real life. I’ve never met Cardi, we’ve never had a conversation. I don’t have no issues with her. It’s all love, but I don’t know her.”

The Beef Begins

In March 2024, Cardi B released her “Like What” freestyle. She sampled Missy Elliot’s “She’s A B**ch” on the song. However, some fans on X felt the beat and ad-libs Cardi used on “Like What” were similar to those used on BIA’s “Fallback,” which the latter released in December 2023. A fan went ahead to share a post suggesting Cardi was imitating BIA. The fan wrote, “But Bia is definitely on Cardi’s mood board alot.” BIA caught wind of the fan’s tweet and responded with three woozy face emojis. In another X post, BIA wrote, “Yall are sick.” Another fan encouraged BIA not to fall for the stan wars, adding that she was on the rise. BIA acknowledged the fan and thanked them for their words.

However, Cardi B seemingly didn’t like the online chatter going on. She responded by posting, “Bitches make a fool of themselves every single time.. ima show ya something when I release this song tho.” Afterward, some Cardi fans rubbished the suggestion that she was imitating BIA’s style. They shared videos of Cardi previewing the “Like What” track at a club in January, proving that the song had been in the making for a long time.

Cardi B Fires More Shots at BIA

Nothing much was heard about Cardi B and BIA’s feud until May 31, 2024, when GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion released the remix of their hit tune, “Wanna Be,” featuring Cardi B. Cardi seemingly fired shots at BIA with her hard-hitting bars in the song. She rapped, “Guess I’m a teacher since you wanna sub me/She did what? Had no idea/Thought she was on the shelf, Ikea/Hope she talk like that when I see her/B**ch Please, don’t nobody wanna be ya/Cheap lookin’ a*s h*e, weak lookin’ a*s h*e/Great Value me lookin’ a*s h*e/Girl, these b**ches be p***y/Delete every tweet looking a*s h*e.” Fans speculated about who Cardi referred to with her lines. However, many of them were convinced the “nobody wanna be ya” reference was enough evidence they were aimed at BIA.

Not long after the track’s release, BIA seemed to reply to Cardi B’s apparent diss via a post on X. She wrote, “B**CHS IS WACK. B**CHS IS TRASH. I SHOULD HANG B**CHS RIGHT OVER MY KNEE, THE WAY I BE PUTTIN MY BELT TO THEY ASSSSSSSS,” a play from Cardi’s lyric from the song “Clout” with Offset. Shortly after, BIA shared another post on X. She posted a video of a rap battle between two female rappers superimposed with the “Wanna Be” instrumental playing in the background. One of the battling women delivered some lines aimed at knocking her opponent out. However, her bars fell flat and were met with disappointment by the onlookers and her unimpressed opponent, who said, “What?” The video post appeared to be BIA’s way of saying she wasn’t impressed with Cardi’s shots on “Wanna Be.”

Cardi B Addresses BIA Beef on Instagram Live

With Cardi B and BIA’s feud attracting attention, the former went on Instagram Live to address the situation. She revealed that she attempted to resolve the conflict via a phone call to BIA. Cardi B shared that their conversation began aggressively with both of them coming at each other. She further revealed, “But then I called her back because…I’m so appalled at the fact that she thinks I’m copying her, or stealing from her, ‘cus there’s nothing that she do that I like. I don’t like her music, I don’t like her style…I don’t even see the b**ch…”

The “Up” rapper jokingly urged her fans to stream BIA’s songs as the latter needed to recoup her publishing. Cardi B then threatened to release her conversation with BIA. She claimed that their conversation ended positively but then BIA went ahead to diss her online. Cardi added, “After the conversation, you went and you started saying I copied your music video…Then you going around lying about my pussy to my man’s boys and shit. What?… When I called her on the phone I wanted clarity, and that’s exactly what we got…”

Cardi B shared that she initially thought BIA was clout-chasing when she kept dissing her. She added, “But when she started doing that rumor shit, it’s like ‘damn, it’s more than clout. It’s jealousy.’” Cardi stated that she didn’t like anything about BIA. She ranted, “I don’t wanna dress like you, I don’t wanna look like you, I don’t wanna rap like you, I don’t listen to your music, I don’t know what the fuck you be doing, bitch…You not interesting to me.” The enraged rapper concluded by threatening to sue BIA if she continued spreading false allegations that she cheated on Offset. She said, “B**tch, you lyin’ on my f***ing p***y? When you lie about my p****y, I’mma sue you and you got to come with receipts. And not social media receipts, you gotta come with court receipts.”

BIA’s Response to Cardi B: A Diss Song

BIA didn’t waste much time to respond to Cardi B. She did so via an Instagram Live video. During the IG live session, BIA played a diss track targeted at Cardi in which she made allegations about her cheating on Offset. The song’s intro goes, “Got a dark soul, got a bright future/Imma let her know I’m a sharp shooter/You ain’t nothing but a f**k girl, I see right through ya.” Rapping about Cardi’s alleged infidelity, BIA spits, “Put it on your gang that they ain’t f**k you in/Put in on your name since you so gangsta like yo f***ing friends/Put it on your hubby since you lying on your vows/I write all my verses, I can do this s**t for hours.

BIA also took a dig at Cardi, accusing her of using a ghostwriter. She rapped, “Do I beef with you or do I beef with Pardi?” The line is a reference to rapper and songwriter Pardison Fontaine, who has writing credits on several Cardi B songs including her breakout hit “Bodak Yellow,” and “Be Careful.” The writing credits are under Pardison’s real name Jordan Kyle Lanier Thorpe.

Elsewhere in the diss track, BIA dissed Cardi’s physical appearance and mentioned her kids, Wave and Culture. She rapped, “Say you love yourself but you won’t put that on your kids/All that surgery and how your body is so mid.” She also spits, “I thought your a*s was for the culture/You just tryna ride the wave/You should be home with your kids ’cause b**ch you speak like you in second grade.” BIA captioned her Instagram Live post, “SUE ME” ??? That’s not hip hop.”

BIA Releases Official Audio for Her Diss Song

After the Instagram post, BIA went ahead to release the official audio for her Cardi B diss song, “SUE MEEE?” The track’s cover art featured a screenshot of an Instagram Story that Offset made in 2023 in which he seemed to suggest Cardi B cheated on him. The former Migos rapper deleted the post immediately and later explained that Cardi didn’t cheat on him. He said he made the post because he “was really lit that night,” and “she get crazy at the mouth a little bit.”

Cardi has yet to respond to BIA’s diss track. However, given that she threatened to sue the “WHOLE LOTTA MONEY” crooner if she made more allegations of her cheating on Offset, one can only wonder if she will keep to her words. After already witnessing a volatile rap scene this year thanks to Drake and Kendrick’s beef, hip-hop lovers wonder what to expect from the feuding women. Only time will tell!

Denzel Curry Heads Crazy Lineup For On The Radar Cypher With TiaCorine, FERG, PlayThatBoiZay, & Key Nyata

Denzel Curry revealed to us just a couple of days ago that a new project was on the way. His Instagram post revealing the cover art and features got a lot of attention and for good reason. The Carol City, Florida rapper revealed that names like Juicy J, 2 Chainz, TiaCorine, FERG (A$AP Ferg), and more will be on it. A couple of names for the LP that are floating around are ULTRAGROUND and ZXLTRXN BIG ULTRA. Additionally, no release date/month is known, but we can tell you this. In an interview from four years ago, the veteran songwriter alluded to the fact that this will be one of his last projects. While we wait on that though, Denzel Curry recently made an appearance for On The Radar.

However, he was far from alone on this, as four other artists joined him. Those include Key Nyata, PlayThatBoiZay, FERG, and TiaCorine. This “Mischievous Cypher” is almost nine minutes of pure energy. Zel raps alonsgide Zay, then Nyata, followed by Tia and FERG. You can tell that everyone was having blast with it, as the vibes were extremely high. Everyone had some witty bars and one liners, so there was no shortage of firepower.

Listen To “The Mischievous Cypher” With Denzel Curry, FERG, TiaCorine, & More

While this cypher is fire, we could not help but notice a sly thing that Denzel pulled here. As we mentioned earlier, FERG and Tia are confirmed features for his next tape. There is great chance that Zay makes it as he was on a recent single with Denzel, “WOO”. Finally Key Nyata was also tagged in that IG post. We think that is a bit of promo for the album and that he wanted to give listeners a sneak peek of what sort of chemistry he has with each of them.

What are your thoughts on this latest On The Radar freestyle with Denzel Curry, FERG, TiaCorine, Key Nyata, and PlayThatBoiZay? Who had the best verse/performance on it and why? Do you think Denzel used this as a marketing tactic for his upcoming album? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Denzel Curry, FERG, TiaCorine, Key Nyata, and PlayThatBoiZay Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Megan Thee Stallion And GloRilla Link Up With Flo Milli And Latto Backstage On Tour

Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla’s Hot Girl Summer tour has been a must-see event for fans of female rappers. The pair have already played a number of dates to sold-out stadiums where Megan has debuted new music and teased towards her upcoming new album. It was at one of her shows where fans first got the word that the project would be called Megan and they only have to wait a few more weeks to hear it. She revealed that the record will arrive later this month on June 28.

After a recent show there was once again a crossover between some of the biggest female rappers in the game. Just a few weeks ago the duo brought Cardi B out on stage with them. While there they teased the released of their upcoming collaboration, a Cardi-led remix of Meg and Glo’s song “Wanna Be.” The track dropped over the weekend and saw Cardi upping the stakes of her beef with BIA. But at an even more recent show, both Latto and Flo Milli showed up. Video is making the rounds online of the group seemingly having a lit celebration backstage. Additionally in the comments, fans argue that this is the level of love there should always be among women rappers. “This is how it’s supposed to be with the rap girls! Even in the biggest year for rap beef in recent memory, fans are clearly still here for rappers supporting and uplifting each other.

Drake Deletes “The Heart Part 6” From His Instagram Page, Fans Question Why

Drake appears to have deleted his Instagram post promoting “The Heart Part 6” from his page. Fans took note of the move on social media on Tuesday morning and are questioning why he would do so. The song was the final diss track he dropped aimed at Kendrick Lamar. It hit streaming services on Sunday, May 5.

Taking to Twitter, one fan revealed they noticed the post was gone when they went looking for confirmation of his new feature on “Wah Gwan Delilah.” They wrote: “Why’d Drake delete his post of The Heart Part 6? Ik it was there earlier today because I went to his Instagram to see if Wah Gwan Delilah ([face palm emoji]) was real.” Another user argued: “Drake literally deleted the heart part 6 from his IG and y’all think he won. Btw Nas won even tho he didn’t respond to jay Z’s last track, it’s not about who releases last.”

Despite deleting “The Heart Part 6,” Drake didn’t scrub all traces of his feud with Kendrick Lamar. His most recent post is now his promotion of his previous diss track in the beef, “Family Matters.” He and Lamar have been going back and forth for months since the release of Future and Metro Boomin’s song, “Like That.” On the track, Lamar directly dissed both Drake and J. Cole.
