Rapper B.G. Was Ordered To Have All Future Songs Approved By The Government — How Did We Get Here?

Last year, Louisiana rapper B.G. was released from federal prison after serving a 10-year stint for illegal gun possession. However, a new report today suggests that he won’t be returning to business as usual right away. According to The Guardian and other sources, it turns out the onetime Hot Boy must now submit his songs for approval before release as a condition of his parole.

US district court judge Susie Morgan issued the ruling as a sort of compromise with prosecutors, who wanted the rapper barred from putting out any music “promoting and glorifying future gun violence/murder.” Instead, Morgan ruled that he must turn his lyrics over to the government prior to putting out or promoting any songs he planned to use them in, and may be asked to change them should they fall short of “the goals of rehabilitation.”

B.G. was originally signed to Cash Money Records as a member of the group Hot Boys, which also boasted Lil Wayne and Juvenile among its members (Turk was the fourth member, but for some reason, a lot of people seem to forget Turk). B.G.’s biggest hit was the slang-spawning “Bling Bling” (featuring all the other members of Hot Boys, as well as Mannie Fresh and Cash Money founder Birdman, then going by Baby). However, he was arrested in 2009 after being pulled over by New Orleans police, who found three guns after searching his SUV. Two had been reported stolen.

In December 2011, B.G. pled guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice, resulting in a 14-year sentence. He was released last September, but was arrested in March for parole violations after he performed at a concert in Las Vegas, Nevada with Boosie and released a mixtape with Gucci Mane, Choppers & Bricks. Prosecutors said this constituted associating with known felons, and censured his lyrics on the tape.

Rap fans have criticized the news on Twitter, saying it violates B.G.’s freedom of speech. The legal treatment of rap lyrics has come under scrutiny in the wake of high-profile trials like the racketeering case against Young Thug, which alleges the Atlanta rapper participated in gang activity purely based on lyrics mentioning alleged gang “YSL” — which is also the name of his record label. Such practices have prompted some lawmakers to introduce legislation specifically protecting rap music from prosecution.

Mariah The Scientist Pleads Not Guilty To Battery After Alleged Club Fight

Earlier this year, footage of Mariah The Scientist and a woman named Cleopatra Dues allegedly getting into a brawl at an Atlanta club left social media users shocked. Reportedly, Dues told police that Mariah allegedly approached her and ripped off her wig, then proceeded to drag her across the floor of Cavo Kitchen and Cocktail Lounge. She insists that she never interacted with Mariah until the alleged incident.

In May, Mariah was arrested and charged with simple battery. Now, according to court documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, she’s pleaded not guilty. Moreover, her attorney Brian Steel has asked for a jury trial. She’s yet to address the debacle but may do so soon in court.

Unfortunately for Mariah, her own legal woes aren’t the only ones she’s dealing with these days. Her boyfriend Young Thug is also currently behind bars on RICO charges. His high-profile trial was put on hold earlier this week. The defense filed a motion for Fulton County Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville to recuse himself due to an ex parte meeting with prosecutors and witness Kenneth Copeland. The trial won’t continue until another judge reviews the case. Glanville also plans to release a transcript of his meeting with Copeland “so everyone will have a chance to look at it.”

It’s unclear exactly how long this could take. The trial is already the longest in state history, however, and doesn’t look like it’ll be coming to a close anytime soon. MTV News Isn’t Quite Gone Forever, Here’s How You Can View Old Posts From The Site

Earlier this week, music fans across the internet were devastated to learn that Paramount Global was shutting down the MTV News website, “as part of broader website changes across Paramount.” That meant that an archive of music history, from the rise of blog rap to the breakouts of international superstar artists like Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and more was just gone in an instant, all because someone flipped a switch.

However, it’s not all bad news: Today, the Internet Archive announced it had created a directory of MTV News posts via the Wayback Machine. The index contains 460,575 articles previously published at MTV.com/news — here’s how you can access it.

This link leads to the Wayback Machine with the MTV News prompt already queued up and ready to go. These include posts about the fashion of the 2003 Grammy Awards, MTV’s announcement of the split between Taylors Swift and Lautner, and more.

In addition to MTV News, Paramount also shut down the sites for CMT, Comedy Central, TV Land and Paramount Network. This was an attempt to direct users to Paramount+ but… I don’t know how effective that’ll be, considering there’s no included promise that the desired content will be found there. At least they still have the best Super Bowl ad of 2024.

50 Cent Has More Jokes For Rick Ross Over Canada Brawl

50 Cent is still joking about his longtime rival, Rick Ross, getting in an altercation in Canada, last week. Speaking with singer Keith Sweat and comedian Earthquake on Instagram Live, he continued to troll Ross about the situation. Ross had attempted to play Kendrick Lamar’s hit diss track, “Not Like Us,” which takes aim at Drake.

“You saw that sh*t that happened in Canada? Rick Ross got f*cked up,” 50 began while shadowboxing. From there, Earthquake added: “All his bodyguards need to resign, n***a. They failed the number one thing. They didn’t guard nobody’s body — including their own.” After sharing more laughs, 50 added: “I could do this muthaf*cka all day with y’all.”

When the clip made its way to X (formerly Twitter), fans had mixed responses to the way 50 is handling the situation. “Nobody wants to say it, but 50 is just as corny as Drake,” one user wrote. Another remarked: “Keith & Ross cool so this interesting …well they did a song together and so did Ross & drake ….so who knows anymore lol.” It isn’t the first time 50’s brought up the incident either. He also posted a skit recreating the brawl on Instagram. Check out 50’s full comments below.

50 Cent Clowns Rick Ross

Not all of the responses to the situation with Ross have been so facetious. Both Uncle Luke and Marlon Wayans condemned the beef between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Rick Ross in posts on social media. Luke, in particular, was upset with Drake for liking a post about the altercation online. Be on the lookout for further updates on 50 Cent and Rick Ross on HotNewHipHop.

Months After Dating Rumors, Lana Del Rey And Quavo Are ‘Tough’ On Their Dreamy New Collaboration

In 2021, Lana Del Rey named Migos as the artist she’d most like to collaborate with, saying, “I love them. Everything they do. There was kind of like a new revolution of sound 11 years ago in the singer-songwriter community, which I loved seeing. And then with Migos, I think they kicked off a new super fun, super autobiographical, completely different style of rap. I love them.”

Now, that has come true as much as is possible given the current state of Migos: Del Rey teams up with Quavo on their new collab, “Tough.”

The track takes Del Rey’s ethereal, vintage-inspired sound and mixes it with a hip-hop flair. On the track, the two discuss how strong and resilient they are, like on the chorus: “Tough like the scuff on a pair of old leather boots / Like the blue-collar, red-dirt attitude / Like a .38 made out of brass / Tough like the stuff in your grandpa’s glass.”

The two also sparked dating rumors earlier this year, and Quavo explained at the time, “We having hits,” an apparent tease of the collab that has now been realized.

This isn’t the only hip-hop connection Del Rey had made lately, as she was spotted twerking with Sexyy Red back in May.

Kodak Black Announces That He’s Mostly Sober

Kodak Black has been open about his substance abuse issues in the past, and recently, he gave fans yet another hopeful update on his journey to sobriety. During an Instagram Live earlier this week, the rapper revealed that going a few days without substances is “nothing” for him now, which is a far cry from how he felt previously. “I’m sober for the most part,” he declared.

He went on to say that “if the Gremlin can do it, y’all can do it,” expressing a desire to motivate others battling substance abuse with his own progress. Kodak added that he’s proud of himself for taking steps in the right direction. Of course, fans are flooding him with praise in The Neighborhood Talk‘s comments section for the inspiring feat.

Kodak Black Opens Up About His Sobriety Journey

“Love that for him,” one Instagram user says. “A win is a win,” someone else writes. Others are commending him for being so transparent with his supporters about the pitfalls of addiction and trying to encourage others not to go down the same road he did. Kodak Black’s latest remarks on sobriety arrive only days after he revealed that he regrets some of his most popular lyrics about drug use during a show in LA.

The lyrics in question are from his 2022 track “Super Gremlin,” in which he raps about taking fake Percs. He clarified that had he actually been taking fake drugs, he’d be “dead” by now, and that it can be incredibly dangerous. The performer explained that he didn’t want listeners to hear the line and get the wrong idea. What do you think of Kodak Black revealing that he’s mostly sober these days? Drake Heaps Praise On “Late Night Serenader” PartyNextDoor In Birthday Tribute

Drake labeled PartyNextDoor the “late night serenader” who makes “melodies that persuade her” in a birthday tribute on his Instagram Story on Wednesday. The OVO singer turned 31 years old on July 3rd. He was famously the first artist to sign with Drake’s iconic record label. “More life to the late night serenader 6 side sound creator owl gang crusader melodies that persuade her baby making music to put her in labour none greater @partynextdoor,” Drake captioned a photo of the singer. “Stay tuned real soon.”

When Our Generation Music reposted the message on Instagram, fans made plenty of references to Drake’s ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar. On Lamar’s track, “Not Like Us,” he disses several of Drake’s associates, at one point rapping: “Party at the party, playin’ with his nose now.”

Party made headlines, earlier this week, for feuding with Chris Brown, Bryson Tiller, and Jeremih. After they all teamed up for “Wait On It,” Party posted on X (formerly Twitter): “I’m finna make these n***as cry… Bryson Chris; and Jeremih… enjoy, the nights, of your life. Doing videos, at 34, that b***h broke. I know 5 rnb singers who broke.” His ex, Desma, made an appearance in the music video for the group’s collaboration. After Party deleted the post, Brown came out and claimed that the OVO Sound singer attempted to apologize to him. “N****s speak without thinking sometimes… then call around to my people trying to retract sh*t,” he wrote on X. “NAW N***A, go on your socials and apologize or keep that same energy when you see me.” Hours later, Party posted: “To be clear, I got nothing but love n respect for those guys…. sh*t happens.”

Billboard Of Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” Concert Appears In California

Kendrick Lamar not only took down one of the titans of the rap game in Drake, but he also unified an entire segment of the genre. The iconic Compton, California MC did so through orchestrating an incredible one-time concert called The Pop Out – Ken and Friends. It took place a few weeks ago, and it is still fresh in a lot of fans’ minds. Honestly, it will probably never be forgotten amongst the community, as it generated amazing moments galore. To help immortalize The Pop Out even more, a billboard reusing the photo of Kendrick Lamar and other West Coast greats has now appeared in Inglewood.

Complex‘s Instagram account shared the image, and it is equally awesome as the original picture. It also borrows the “Not Like Us” title in a clever and simple way with the billboard reading, “Us.” Below that, you can see that it was a collaboration with Lamar’s pgLang label, Amazon Music, among other entities. This really signifies how impactful this victory was even beyond one rapper. When Kendrick rapped on “euphoria”, “I’m what the culture feelin’“, it is incredible how accurate that statement is.

While the debate between who won between him and Drake is totally out of the question, the only thought that now remains is, “When will the “Not Like Us” video drop? There have been several headlines surrounding the alleged filming of its visuals, but nothing in terms of when it is coming. Just like The Pop Out, it figures to be another major moment in this event-packed timeline. Kendrick’s victory lap can last as long as it wants in our opinion.

What are your thoughts on this Kendrick Lamar Pop Out billboard in Inglewood, California? Is this event going to go down as one of the most iconic moments in hip-hop history, why or why not? Is this West Coast officially on top of the rap world right now? Do you think he will drop a music video for “Not Like Us” sooner than later? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Kendrick Lamar. Diddy Tries To Sell LA Mansion For $70M Amid Federal Sex Trafficking Investigation

It’s no secret that Diddy is wrapped up in a lot of legal drama as of late. Reportedly, however, that hasn’t stopped him from trying to offload one of his mansions. According to TMZ, the Bad Boy Records founder has been trying to sell his Los Angeles home off market for roughly $70 million. This is quite a bit more than the $40 million he initially paid for it back in 2014.

It’s unclear exactly why he’s decided to sell the massive property, though the outlet claims he’s looking to get out of LA for good, and won’t be searching for another home once it sells. This is the same mansion that Homeland Security raided earlier this year as a part of a federal human trafficking investigation, so it’s safe to say that it’s got some bad memories attached to it. Unfortunately for Diddy, the outlet’s source says the mansion is unlikely to go for as much as he’s hoping for.

These days, Diddy’s been spending a lot of his time in Miami, where he owns another mansion that was raided this year. Earlier this week, he was also spotted escaping the city to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He went on a white water rafting excursion with a group of friends and a guide. As for the mogul’s legal troubles, a grand jury is reportedly hearing evidence in his case.

It’s unclear when they plan to decide whether or not to indict him for his alleged crimes. What do you think of Diddy trying to sell his LA mansion amid his ongoing legal issues? What about him asking for far more than he paid for it? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Skilla Baby Doesn’t Believe Eminem Is The Best Rapper In Detroit

Skilla Baby shared a hot take regarding Eminem and the city of Detroit during an appearance on the Baby, This is Keke Palmer podcast. Speaking with the actress, Skilla argued that the legendary artist isn’t the best rapper out of his hometown. Instead, he says the title is constantly switching hands.

“Numbers wise, Eminem is the best Detroit rapper but the gag is nobody would say that in Detroit. Everybody had a turn being Detroit’s favorite rapper,” he said. “Sada Baby had a turn, Tee Grizzley had a turn, Babyface Ray had a turn, Veeze is one of Detroit’s best rappers, Baby Smoove. Everybody had their turn being the best in the city. What we lack is consistency. Nobody has consistently been Detroit’s favorite rapper.”

From there, Skilla added: “Numbers wise, it’s Eminem but nobody in Detroit is playing Eminem right now and I was an Eminem fan as a kid. I’m a fan of Eminem but do we consider him our best rapper? I don’t think Detroit does.” Afterward, he listed some other artists he forgot to mention as well. “No shade to anybody names I left off Detroit is full of great rappers and I can’t forget Kash Doll, Big Sean, and Dej [Loaf] of course,” he concluded.
