WHOKILLEDXIX Tap Pussy Riot For An Assist On The Aggressive ‘Mondays!’

Back in July, the hyperpunk duo WHOKILLEDXIX graced the UPROXX Sessions stage with an intense performance of their glitchy breakout single “Spy?,” bringing the TikTok-favorite song to a whole new audience. Capitalizing on that attention, they followed up with a brand-new song called “Mondays!” bringing in a new set of collaborators in the form of Russian punk rock hellraisers Pussy Riot. The new track resurrects the nu-metal sound of the late nineties, with group members Karm The Tool and Yung Skayda contributing skittering rap vocals and the members of Pussy Riot turning up with ad-libs and roaring electric guitars.

While WHOKILLEDXIX is still a relatively new act, the Connecticut-based duo has already garnered plenty of attention thanks to the streams accumulated from uses of the track on TikTok, leading to a spate of coverage generating even more streams of “Spy?” — 40 million and counting. The group’s appeal is in their melange of styles — by switching from glitchy pop to anxious rap to aggressive rock sounds, they’ve proven to have a hook for fans of every genre, while their devil-may-care demeanor is an effective reflection of the contrarian outlook of their Gen-Z fans.

Machine Gun Kelly Plots His Revenge On Pete Davidson For His ‘SNL’ Impression

This past weekend’s Kim Kardashian-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live was eventful. A major part of that was due to references to Kardashian’s famous connections, like when she joked about her Kanye West divorce in the opening monologue. The sketch in which she played her sister Kourtney in a judge TV show called The People’s Kourt was a goldmine for cultural references and connections, even outside of Kardashian’s realm.

For example, there was a scene where Pete Davidson impersonated his good friend (and recent SNL musical guest) Machine Gun Kelly. In the sketch, Davidson and Chloe Fineman (playing Megan Fox) poke fun at Kelly and Fox’s frequent and intense PDA with a tongue-entwining kissing display.

Naturally, Kelly caught wind of the sketch and started plotting his revenge. In a tweet tagging Saturday Night Live, Kelly re-shared a clip of Davidson’s impression and wrote, “i think it’s time for me to come on the show as Pete.”

Meanwhile, a month ago, Davidson revisited a moment from Kelly’s aforementioned SNL appearance, when he and Kelly fell off the stage together during the episode’s closing credits. Davidson explained to Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show that Kelly tried to pick him up, which, due to an injury Kelly was going with, didn’t exactly work out.

Lil Uzi Vert Gave A Couple Stacks Of Cash At Their Traditional Cambodian Wedding

Lil Uzi Vert is quickly becoming one of rap’s most approachable superstars. Despite doing true rockstar things like getting huge pink diamonds embedded in his face and donning a Daft Punk-esque robot helmet for as-yet-unknown reasons, Uzi is just as likely to be found hanging out with fans and freestyling at gas stations. He recently explained that he’s a “happy person” who isn’t “gonna act gangster because that’s not what I am,” and that truth becomes more apparent with each social media post depicting his down-to-earth shenanigans.

The latest found him attending a traditional Cambodian wedding in his native Philadelphia on Saturday, where he danced with fellow guests and gifted the couple several thousand dollars in cash, according to HipHopDX. Uzi also freestyled for the other guests and took photos with the happy couple. The couple posted the photos on Instagram with a caption making it clear that Uzi was indeed invited and didn’t crash the wedding.

Both DX and Complex noted that it wasn’t the first time Uzi went viral for showing up at a wedding. Last year, he apparently showed up at a Palestinian wedding in New Jersey wearing a keffiyeh around his neck and again danced with the guests.

One thing is for certain: Uzi makes for an entertaining guest, so if you can get him that invite, it appears it’ll be worth it.

Don Toliver And Travis Scott’s Lo-Fi ‘Flocky Flocky’ Video Depicts A Debauched Day In Their Lives

Just days after releasing his third album, Life Of A Don, Houston rapper Don Toliver has paired one of the album’s standout songs, “Flocky Flocky,” with a suitably lo-fi video featuring his fellow Texan — and label boss — Travis Scott. The video’s shot like a throwback home movie, with grainy footage depicting the two rappers boarding private planes, riding in limos, hanging out in the studio, and throwing money at the strip club.

“Flocky Flocky” is the fourth video from Life Of A Don after “What You Need,” “Drugs N Hella Melodies,” and “Way Bigger.” In addition to Kali Uchis, who appears on “Drugs N Hella Melodies,” and Travis Scott, who appears on “Flocky Flocky” as well as “You,” the album features an appearance from Travis Scott collaborator Baby Keem on the song “Outerspace,” and HVN and SoFaygo on the song “Smoke.”

Travis Scott, meanwhile, has made a slew of appearances on new albums as fans await his own new album Utopia. In addition to his two appearances on Don’s album, Travis popped up on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and on Baby Keem’s The Melodic Blue. He’s also expecting his second child with Kylie Jenner while working on a companion film for Utopia.

Cardi B Officiates A Same-Sex Marriage In The Latest Episode Of ‘Cardi Tries’

Cardi B’s adventurous Facebook Watch series Cardi Tries has returned for a second season and in the latest episode, the “WAP” rapper tries her hand at wedding planning and officiating for a same-sex couple with the help of actress Raven-Symoné. Ahead of the episode’s premiere, Uproxx shared an exclusive preview in which Cardi gets choked up at seeing the decorations for the wedding and declares, “I want to get married… again!” Now that the episode is out, we can see how she handles the other part: actually officiating the wedding.

In the clip, Cardi pops out to surprise one of the brides as well as the wedding guests. “I want to thank you guys for making me a part of your beautiful journey,” Cardi tells the couple in a clip that made its way to Twitter. Drake Wishes His Son Adonis ‘More Life Kid’ At His Racing-Themed Fourth Birthday Party

Drake’s son Adonis turned four years old today and to celebrate, the rapper threw his kid a racing-themed birthday over the weekend. The space (which looks a lot like Legoland in a video Drake posted to his Instagram Story) was decorated in checkered flag balloons and racing stripes, while entertainment was provided by a Bugs Bunny mascot his Space Jam: A New Legacy jersey.

Drake also posted a pair of photos to his grid marking the occasion, captioning one “More life, kid,” a reference to Drake’s “playlist”/album of the same name.

Another photo looked like it came from one of those photo booths you hire for special occasions, with Drake grinning and holding up his son, who makes the “flying Superman” pose.

Drake has plenty of reasons to celebrate “more life” this month — which is also his birthday month — after releasing his long-awaited album Certified Lover Boy to a warm reception from fans, if not from critics. The album spent three weeks at No.1 on the Billboard albums chart, while he received praise from J. Cole on the “Heaven’s EP” freestyle. Drake returned the love at the opening night of J. Cole’s Off-Season Tour, calling him “one of the greatest rappers” out now.

Paul McCartney Says John Lennon Instigated The Beatles’ Breakup

More than 50 years ago, The Beatles, came to an end after Paul McCartney announced that he would be walking away from the group. The band attempted to reunite on several occasions but it never happened, and in 1980 John Lennon was tragically assassinated. While it’s been noted that Lennon privately expressed a desire to walk away from the band before McCartney’s announcement, McCartney has long been blamed for the band’s breakup. During an upcoming interview on BBC Radio 4, McCartney pointed the finger elsewhere.

“I didn’t instigate the split. That was our Johnny,” McCartney said, according to The Guardian. “I am not the person who instigated the split. Oh no, no, no. John walked into a room one day and said I am leaving the Beatles. Is that instigating the split, or not?” He added that Lennon described his departure from The Beatles as “quite thrilling” and “rather like a divorce,” despite the fact that the other group members were “left to pick up the pieces.”

McCartney notes that confusion about who instigated the band’s dissolution was caused by the group’s new manager at the time, Allen Klein, who sought to wrap up some business deals before announcing the split. “So for a few months we had to pretend,” McCartney said. “It was weird because we all knew it was the end of the Beatles but we couldn’t just walk away.” McCartney admits he became “fed up of hiding it” and it led to his decision to publicly announce the split and “let the cat out of the bag.”

“I had to fight and the only way I could fight was in suing the other Beatles, because they were going with Klein. And they thanked me for it years later,” he said about the legal drama that ensued after the group’s split. “But I didn’t instigate the split. That was our Johnny coming in one day and saying ‘I’m leaving the group.’”

McCartney’s full interview on BBC Radio 4 will air on October 23

Megan Thee Stallion Slams Texas’ Abortion Bill After An Appeals Court Reinstated It

Megan Thee Stallion has extreme pride in her hometown of Houston as well as her home state of Texas, so it’s no surprise that the rapper is extremely vocal about the state’s controversial abortion bill. The law prohibits women who are more than six weeks pregnant from getting the procedure, and after the bill was upheld and reinstated by an appeals court, Megan Thee Stallion used her performance at the Austin City Limits festival over the weekend to speak out against the it and show support for her fellow Texans.

“This middle finger is also to these muthaf*ckin’ men that want to tell us what the f*ck to do with our body,” she told the ACL festival crowd according to local news station KXAN. “Cuz how the f*ck you gonna tell me what to do with my muthaf*ckin’ body? Drop that sh*t.”

The rapper doubled down on her stance against the bill in an Instagram post afterward. “Y’all know I’m a Texas girl and we deserve better!” she wrote in the post’s caption. “Politicians want to cut off abortion access and control our bodies, lives, and futures — I’m speaking up.”’

This comes after Megan was surprised by Miley Cyrus during the first weekend of the Austin City Limits festival. As the rapper performed on stage, Cyrus joined Megan to show off a few dance moves before returning backstage.
