Don Toliver Locks In With Lil Durk & GloRilla On “Leave The Club”

Don Toliver season is upon us. The rapper is gearing up for the release of his next body of work, Lovesick, marking his official follow-up to Life Of A Don. He’s unveiled a few singles over the past year but this week, he’s geared up for his official release, providing fans with a glimpse of what to expect. Last year, he dropped off “Do It Right,” which built up excitement. But, for the most part, he’s relied on guest appearances to drum up anticipation.

This week, he officially kicked off the rollout for the upcoming effort. Don Toliver and his partner, Kali Uchis, delivered their latest collaboration, “4 Me,” just a day after Valentine’s Day. This record, in particular, contrasts what they delivered on “Drugs N Hella Melodies.” The upbeat, breezy record sampled Beenie Man’s “Girls Dem Sugar,” produced by the Neptunes, and showcased the range that  Kali Uchis and Toliver carry as collaborators.

Don Toliver Shares “Leave The Club” ft. Lil Durk & GloRilla

Lovesick might be Don Toliver’s most ambitious project to date, especially in his mission to create a sound that captures “futuristic R&B and soul.” While “4 Me” delivered a sense of early 2000s nostalgia, he came through with a muddy banger to follow up with “Leave The Club” ft. Lil Durk and GloRilla. Don Toliver’s back in a warped, drug-fueled soundscape for a banger that splits into two. Durk comes through in the first half, accompanying Toliver on a spacey, trap-centric beat, before GloRilla’s gritty flow takes control in the second half.

Don Toliver’s forthcoming project Lovesick will drop on Friday, Feb. 24th. The rapper announced the release date along with the new single. He hasn’t shared the tracklist yet but the pre-save link confirmed Lovesick will consist of 16 songs, including the previously released singles, “4 Me,” “Do it Right,” and “Leave The Club.” Check out the new single above and sound off with your thoughts in the comment section below.

Quotable Lyrics
Smurk, Richard my arm
I can’t fuck a bitch who said some slick shit to Don
No cash on me, I just had a scammer get a room
Innocent in the club, but she wanna try shrooms
Uh, I want a cougar, thirsty to leave, I’ma hop in a Uber
If you ever heard I fucked your friends, that’s a rumor

ICYMI: Don Toliver Shares A Preview Of New Music

don toliver

Justin Bieber brought out Don Toliver as one of his surprise guests at his Los Angeles show for his Justice Tour, and now the Don seemingly has new music on the way.

The Houston native hasn’t dropped a project since his 2021 Life of a Don, but it seems as if the “Flocky Flocky” rapper is preparing us for some new music.

Although Toliver hasn’t dropped anything this year, he’s been working. This isn’t the only song he previewed for his fans. Last month he previewed a snippet via social media and he’s on Kanye West’s Donda 2.

Toliver is also set to perform at Rolling Loud Miami.

There is a great chance this preview is of one of the songs that will be on a follow up to the  The 27-year-old’s Life of a Don album, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart (dated Oct. 23).

Life of a Don also went No. 2 on Billboards Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums Chart. To date that is Toliver’s highest-charting project. Continue the conversation on social media.

Don Toliver And Travis Scott’s Lo-Fi ‘Flocky Flocky’ Video Depicts A Debauched Day In Their Lives

Just days after releasing his third album, Life Of A Don, Houston rapper Don Toliver has paired one of the album’s standout songs, “Flocky Flocky,” with a suitably lo-fi video featuring his fellow Texan — and label boss — Travis Scott. The video’s shot like a throwback home movie, with grainy footage depicting the two rappers boarding private planes, riding in limos, hanging out in the studio, and throwing money at the strip club.

“Flocky Flocky” is the fourth video from Life Of A Don after “What You Need,” “Drugs N Hella Melodies,” and “Way Bigger.” In addition to Kali Uchis, who appears on “Drugs N Hella Melodies,” and Travis Scott, who appears on “Flocky Flocky” as well as “You,” the album features an appearance from Travis Scott collaborator Baby Keem on the song “Outerspace,” and HVN and SoFaygo on the song “Smoke.”

Travis Scott, meanwhile, has made a slew of appearances on new albums as fans await his own new album Utopia. In addition to his two appearances on Don’s album, Travis popped up on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and on Baby Keem’s The Melodic Blue. He’s also expecting his second child with Kylie Jenner while working on a companion film for Utopia.

Don Toliver Is Doing Everything ‘Way Bigger’ In His Latest ‘Life Of A Don’ Video

Don Toliver takes in the sights in the video for “Way Bigger” from his newly released album, L.O.A.D. (Life Of A Don). The video sees Toliver standing on a rooftop overlooking the city, where he dances and raps, then performing atop a theatre marquee displaying the title of his new album. The stripped-down approach keeps the focus on Toliver’s music, which is marked by thumping bass and woozy, hypnotic synth loops.

Lyrically, the song focuses on Don counting his blessings, which include Goyard bags, Lambo trucks, and “hundreds of bands in cash.” The single’s content is in line with the other singles that he’s released from the album so far, which include “What You Need” and “Drugs N Hella Melodies” with Kali Uchis. The album itself features Travis Scott (who appears on two tracks, “You” and “Flocky Flocky“), Baby Keem, HVN, and SoFaygo. In addition to releasing his new album, Don Toliver has also been on his tour for it along with special guest BIA.

Don Toliver And Travis Scott Deliver A Focused Reunion With ‘Flocky Flocky’

Don Toliver has been able to maintain a consistent level of popularity since his breakout moment in 2018. It came through a guest verse of Travis Scott’s “Can’t Say” from his Astroworld album. Two years later, the Houston native returned in 2020 with his sophomore album Heaven Or Hell, which boosted his stock and proved that he was very capable of making a strong and cohesive body of work. Toliver looks to showcase that once again with his newly-released third album Life Of A Don.

The 16-track effort is spotlight by Toliver and Travis Scott’s reunion on “Flocky Flocky.” The track is carried by woozy synths and a head-bobbing bass that fits right in the pocket the rappers thrive in. It’s the duo’s first track together since “Euphoria” from Toliver’s Heaven Or Hell project. As for the rest of Life Of A Don, the project features the previously released singles “What You Need” and “Drugs N Hella Melodies” along with guest appearances from Kali Uchis, Baby Keem, HVN, and Sofaygo.

Prior to the album’s release, Toliver connected with Skrillex and Justin Bieber for “Don’t Go” and Scott confirmed that he and Kylie Jenner are expecting a second child together

You can listen to “Flocky Flocky” in the video above.

Don Toliver Reveals The ‘Life Of A Don’ Tracklist But Keeps The Features A Secret

Don Toliver’s Life Of A Don drops this Friday, October 8, and with just hours to go before its release, the Houston rapper decided to share the tracklist, revealing the titles of the album’s 16 tracks — but not any potential features. However, thanks to a series of teasers and leaks, fans believe they have a pretty good idea of the guestlist, which is speculated to include Baby Keem, Dom Kennedy, HVN, Kali Uchis, SoFaygo, and Toliver’s Cactus Jack label head Travis Scott.

The rollout for Life Of A Don was slowly unveiled of the course of the past several months, beginning with the release of “What You Need” in May. Shortly thereafter, Toliver teased fans with the album’s title and a planned release window in July, however, needless to say, he’s overshot that original plan by a significant amount. In the meantime, he once again reunited with his “Lemonade” collaborators Internet Money and Gunna on “His & Hers” featuring Lil Uzi Vert, then teamed up with Latto and Lil Durk on the F9 soundtrack standout “Fast Lane,” and assisted Skrillex on the Justin Bieber-featuring “Don’t Go.”

He returned to promoting his own album with the video for “Drugs N Hella Melodies” with Kali Uchis and announced its release date at the end of September. You can check out the tracklist above and stream Life Of A Don via Cactus Jack and Atlantic Records here.

Don Toliver Announces The Release Date Of His New Project, ‘Life Of A Don’

Houston rapper Don Toliver has had a relatively eventful two years. While most of the entertainment industry was shut down over the COVID-19 pandemic, the Cactus Jack Records product toiled away, building on the buzz he’d accumulated since appearing on his mentor Travis Scott’s 2018 album Astroworld. In addition to popping up on Eminem’s “No Regrets” early in 2020, Toliver dropped his debut album Heaven Or Hell, then featured on projects from Nav, Kaash Paige, Nas, and Rico Nasty, the F9 soundtrack, and on the runaway Internet Money smash, “Lemonade” with Gunna.

Now, he’s set to capitalize on all that hard work with the release of his second album, Life Of A Don. After teasing the project on Twitter earlier this year, Toliver finally shared the release date, October 8, via a grandiose trailer featuring a pair of ballroom dancers onstage in an empty, elegantly appointed theatre.

In addition to the trailer, Toliver has teased the future release with a handful of singles including “What You Need,” “Drugs N Hella Melodies” with Kali Uchis, and “Don’t Go” with Justin Bieber and Skrillex. He’s currently on tour through October 30 with BIA, which means fans on the back end of the tour may well get the opportunity to hear the new album live after its release.

L.O.A.D. (Life Of A Don) is due 10/8 through Cactus Jack and Atlantic Records.
