Karlissa Saffold Recalls Lesbian Days Before Blueface’s Birth, Wants Credit For Jaidyn Alexis’ “Barbie” Song

Jason Lee’s podcast has had a huge year since it launched back in January, from Cardi B giving heartbreaking details about her and Offset finding out about Takeoff’s murder to, more recently, all the baby mama drama that’s been unfolding between Blueface and the two women in his life. First, he and Jaidyn Alexis joined the blogger to discuss their relationship, among other burning topics. Not long after, it was the Baltimore native’s turn to tell her side of the story. Of course, she’s since moved out of the public’s favour after assaulting James Wright Chanel at a concert. Now, it’s Karlissa Saffold who’s in the hot seat. Blue’s mom didn’t hold back when talking about her past, as well as the lives of her potential future daughter-in-laws.

Before she became a mother, Saffold had an adventurous life too. She appeared in some movies throughout her younger days and even experimented with her sexuality. “I’ve been delivered from that,” the 51-year-old told Lee when he asked if she was previously a lesbian or bisexual. “The woman that did my hair today had her ti**ies all out and I had to pray and everything. I’m born again!” Karlissa declared.

She further shocked the host by revealing that she used to date another woman, who’s still her best friend to this day. Interestingly, Saffold’s ex was sitting in the waiting room with her current husband, though she denied ever having a threesome. Elsewhere in their conversation, the Porter family matriarch shared why she thinks she deserves a check from the success of Alexis’ “Barbie” single.

Grammy 2024 Nominees: A Look At Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical

On November 10, 2023, the Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 2024 Grammys. Once again, we’re back in Grammy season, and the countdown to the biggest day in the music industry begins. Besides the day of the ceremony, nomination day is the biggest deal for potential awardees. Artists, songwriters, and producers wait with bated breath as they hope to hear their names mentioned. This year’s nominees for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical have all proven themselves throughout the year. Each of the five producers has certainly earned their spot on the nomination list. As a result, this category is among the ones with the stiffest competition, and it’s anyone’s bet who takes home the trophy. However, one thing’s certain: whichever one takes the statuette home would deserve it.

Metro Boomin

For over a decade now, Metro Boomin has actively put in the work, contributing to the development and expansion of Hip Hop. While he’s been reaping the benefits of his work for a while, a Grammy win would certainly be a fulfilling milestone for the acclaimed producer. Known for his collaborative works with prominent rappers over the years, Boomin is finally getting recognized by the Recording Academy. In the most prestigious category for a non-classical producer, no less. Although he has won several BET and BMI Hip Hop awards, this is his first Grammy nomination ever in any category. This makes him the only first-timer among the five nominees for the 2024 Grammys. Boomin was primarily nominated for his work on the acclaimed album Heroes & Villains and the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse soundtrack.

Dan Nigro

Dan Nigro is a record producer, songwriter, and musician most popularly known for his work in the indie rock, emo, and alternative rock genres. Since his indie rock band As Tall as Lions disbanded in 2010, Nigro has grown to become a prominent producer. Over time, he has collaborated with various artists across several genres. These artists include Lewis Capaldi, Kylie Minogue, and Conan Gray. However, the most acclaimed projects he has worked on to date are both by Olivia Rodrigo. Nigro first received several Grammy nominations in 2022, his first ever, for his work on Rodrigo’s debut album, Sour. Subsequently, he won alongside Rodrigo in the Best Pop Vocal Album category.

Once again, his work with Olivia Rodrigo’s Guts has earned him nods at the 2024 Grammys. This time, it’s in the most esteemed category for non-classical producers. His production on “Welcome to My Island” by Caroline Polachek, “Redwine Supernova” by Chappell Roan, and “Divide” by Dermot Kenedy, among others, also contributed to his nomination. This is Nigro’s first nomination in this category.

Dernst “D’Mile” Emile II

In 2022, D’Mile became the first songwriter in Grammy history to take two consecutive wins in the Song of the Year category. He’s not new to receiving accolades from the prestigious awarding body. While he has not yet won in the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical category, he has taken home five awards in other categories for his contributions to songs and albums.

D’Mile has two Grammys for Song of the Year and one each for Record of the Year, Best R&B Song, and Best Progressive R&B Album. His first nomination for Producer of the Year came in 2023, but he lost to Jack Antonoff. At the 2024 Grammys, D’Mile will have another chance to take home the win for his stellar production work on Victoria Monet’s Jaguar II, which houses the Record of the Year nominated single, “On My Mama.”

Hit-Boy

Hit-Boy gained widespread recognition for producing Jay-Z and Kanye West’s hit single “N***as in Paris” in 2011. This production marked a significant breakthrough in his career, and he has since worked with many other prominent artists. “N***as in Paris” won the Grammy for Best Rap Song in 2013, marking Hit-Boy’s first nomination and win. Since then, he has been nominated several times for contributions to albums by Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce, and Nas. However, until now, he had never been nominated in the Producer of the Year, Non-Classical category.

His work on King’s Disease III by Nas and his collaboration project with Musiq Soulchild, Victims & Villains, earned him this nomination. If Hit-Boy takes home the award at the 2024 Grammys, it would be his biggest win yet from the ceremony. Admittedly, his recent wins in the Best Rap Album category (2021) and the Best Dance/Electronic Album category (2023) are great. However, as a producer, a win in this category would be more satisfying and in line with his craft.

Jack Antonoff

The world was first introduced to Jack Antonoff when he joined the pop rock band Fun. However, he was not as popular back then since he served as the guitarist-drummer and not the lead singer. Nevertheless, he enjoyed the success of being a part of the group. At the 2013 Grammys, they won the Best New Artist and Song of the Year categories. While he achieved global fame as a member of the group, Antonoff’s popularity has grown exponentially since he started writing and producing outside the group.

Since 2016, he has racked in quite a number of Grammys in other categories. Out of four Album of the Year nominations, Antonoff has won two, with one currently pending, all for his work on Taylor Swift albums. Additionally, he took home the Grammys for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical in both 2022 and 2023. This makes him the only producer in this lineup to have previously won in this category. Antonoff was also nominated in this category in 2021, which makes this his fourth consecutive nomination. Considering his track record, he poses the biggest threat to the other nominees on this list. It would be his third consecutive win if he emerges victorious again at the 2024 Grammys.

Rolling Loud is kicking off 2024 with a bang. Today (November 14), the festival conglomerate announced their line-up for Rolling Loud California 2024, which will take place over the course of three days at the Hollywood Park Grounds in Inglewood next March.

The line-up for Rolling Loud California boasts some heavy hitters, with Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, and Lil Uzi Vert billed as headliners. However, there has been a bit of confusion regarding the talent.

Is Lil Uzi Vert performing at Rolling Loud California 2024?

According to the official flyer, Lil Uzi Vert is set to perform on Sunday, March 17, closing out the festival. However, earlier today, Uzi took to their Instagram stories to express confusion over the Rolling Loud California 2024 announcement.

They shared a picture of the Rolling Loud announcement, with text over it reading “I never said I was doing rolling loud don’t understand why my name is on here.”

At the time of writing, there has been no announcement from Rolling Loud or Uzi regarding Uzi’s removable from the line-up. So, fans can look forward to seeing Lil Uzi Vert perform at Rolling Loud California next March (for now, anyway).

Lil Uzi Vert is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Sexyy Red And Nardo Wick Announce Collaboration Coming Soon

Sexyy Red has been one of the breakout rap artists of 2023. Part of her massive rise in popularity has come from collaborations with a variety of different artists. This year alone she’s worked with Nicki Minaj, DaBaby, Drake, SZA, Lil Durk, Latto, and many more high-profile artists. Fans of hers can often be seen in the comments of other rapper’s posts asking them to collab with Red.

Now, she’s announced yet another collaboration. “Yall ready?” she tweeted earlier today while also tagging Nardo Wick. While the post is light on details, fans know exactly what she means, the pair have a song dropping soon. It’s unclear how soon though, Red has been known to be playful with fans about dropping highly anticipated singles. She repeatedly teased her Lil Durk remix for weeks before it finally dropped. Included in the promotion for the song were the pair taking playful shots back and forth blaming each other for the delay in the release of the song. Check out Sexyy Red’s newest tease below.

The announcement comes on the heels of another new collaboration Red released just over the weekend. She teamed up with Kevin Gates and B.G. for the raunchy new banger “Yonce Freestyle.” Red has been busy recently also dropping her own single “Shake Yo Dreads,” her Moneybagg Yo collaboration “Big Dawg,” and her soundtrack cut “No Panties” for the HBO show Rap Sh!t.

While Sexyy Red hasn’t collaborated with Boosie Badazz yet, she does see herself as a modern day version of him. While some fans were offended by her statement, Boosie himself didn’t mind it. He said he saw it as Red giving him his flowers. He even doubled down on his comments about Red, who he praised again even though she isn’t his “type.” What do you think of Sexyy Red and Nardo Wick working on new music together? Let us know in the comment section below.

When Does Apple Music Replay Update?

The end of 2023 is near. The past year offered some great music, which fans streamed in mass. And as this year comes to a close, music fans can’t wait to see a visual representation of their listening habits. Spotify users are waiting with bated breath for Spotify Wrapped, an annual interactive collection of gifs, playlists, and images designed to correspond to each user’s listening habits from the past year.

But Spotify users aren’t the only ones who get to have fun. Apple Music users can also look forward to seeing their Apple Music Replay. And thankfully, they won’t have to wait too long.

When does Apple Music Replay update?

Apple Music Replay updates every Sunday, according to users on the Apple community discussion board. And this doesn’t exclusively include Sunday that fall within the holiday season. Each Apple Music user’s Replay playlist updates year-round.

Though, during the holiday season, Apple Music user’s may receive a prompt to check their Apple Music Replay, which will direct them to gifs and interactive photos, similar to those of Spotify Wrapped. And while Spotify Wrapped’s playlists and stats are typically only available to view for the latter part of the respective year, and the earlier part of the following year, Apple Music users can see their Replay lists at any time, as well as lists from previous years.

Lil Uzi Vert Is Disputing Their Appearance On The Rolling Loud California 2024 Lineup: ‘Don’t Understand Why My Name Is On Here’

lil uzi vert

It looks like there may have been a miscommunication between Lil Uzi Vert and their management regarding their appearance on the Rolling Loud California lineup for 2024 because Uzi appears confused. “I never said I was doing Rolling Loud,” they wrote on Instagram over a repost of the event’s flyer in Stories. “Don’t understand why my name is on here.”

While miscues like this do occasionally happen in the entertainment industry (actually, they happen all the time, just rarely at this scale), it’s unusual that Lil Uzi Vert wouldn’t want to do Rolling Loud. They’ve been a mainstay at the festival since it began to rise to prominence a few years ago, appearing on the roster most years since at least 2017.

However, Uzi has been insinuating lately that they’re fed up with the music business, hinting at retirement and personal issues including a possible breakup with City Girls’ JT. Anyone hoping that their Grammy nomination for Pink Tape would salve those psychic wounds might end up disappointed.

This isn’t the first time a big-name festival announced its lineup before the artists involved were informed by their respective teams. In 2020, the Lovers And Friends Festival lineup was disputed by both Mase and Lil Kim before they figured things out. Despite those checks eventually clearing, though, the festival was postponed due to COVID-19, eventually taking place at a later date.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Lil Uzi Vert Confused By Announcement That They’re Headlining Rolling Loud

Earlier today one of the biggest hip hop festivals in the world announced their 2024 lineup. Rolling Loud Los Angeles is set to take place in March of next year and now the full roster of performers has been announced. Included are dozens of major artists like Sexyy Red, YG & Tyga doing a joint set, Big Sean, Summer Walker, Don Toliver, Chief Keef, and many many more. The festival is set to be headlined by Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, and Lil Uzi Vert. Or at least that’s what the poster says.

One person who is raising doubt about the lineup is Lil Uzi Vert themselves. The rapper took to Instagram to share the festival poster, which is pretty common for artists when they’re announced for a festival. But Uzi also shared a message that raised some doubts as to whether or not they would actually be playing. “I never said I was doing rolling loud I don’t know why my name is on here @rollingloud,” Uzi’s Instagram story post reads. Check out their response to the original lineup announcement below.

Lil Uzi Vert “Never Said” They Would Play Rolling Loud

Earlier this year, Lil Uzi Vert released their new album Pink Tape. The project became the first rap album of 2023 to reach number one on the Billboard 200. Ever since Pink Tape dropped Uzi has continued to tease even more new music. They’ve reportedly been working with some of Young Thug’s collaborators like London On Da Track with the aim of making a tribute album called Barter 16.

Uzi also teased a new mixtape, the third in their LUV Is Rage series. Despite few updates on the project and even rumors that Uzi was planning on retiring, it’s still being worked on. Uzi promised listeners that the album is still coming in a post last week where they also thanked fans for their support. Do you think Lil Uzi Vert will end up headlining Rolling Loud next year? Let us know in the comment section below.

Grammy 2024 Nominees: A Look At Best Rap Song

They have announced the nominees for Best Rap Song at the 2024 Grammys. There are some songs people probably expected in the group and some surprising choices. Over the years, people have criticized the Grammys for multiple reasons. One of the biggest is how they treat their rap/hip-hop category. This time around, they’ve nominated songs that touch several segments of the genre, but no matter who they choose, there will be people who are not satisfied. This year’s nominees are trendy songs, many of them being used for sounds all across TikTok. Some songs came out this year while others came out last year, a testament to the specific eligibility period that all nominees must meet. No matter who wins, all the nominees’ streams will increase since their music will be exposed to a new audience.

“Attention” – Doja Cat

Doja Cat enters the 2024 Grammys with a different approach from previous years. Listeners know Doja for her chart-topping pop hits, but even some of those have moments of her rapping. Now, in 2023, she has gone all in with her rapping and did so in her own unapologetic way. This track, “Attention,” was the first single for her 2023 album Scarlet. It established where she was going for the latest stage in her career. The track still features Doja’s singing on the hook, but she rapped all her verses.

Production came from Y2K and Rogét Chahayed, who crafted a smooth and confident soundscape for Doja to share her truth. The rollout for the single featured a promotional image of Doja naked and drenched in blood. Once the music video was released, viewers saw the image came directly from it.

“Barbie World” – Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice With Aqua

It’s only right that the 2024 Grammys have a song from one of the year’s biggest movies as a nominee. It pairs Ice Spice, one of the biggest women in rap this year, with Nicki Minaj, one of the biggest women in rap of all time. This is their second collaboration this year. Both rappers weave references to the Barbie brand in their verses and use them to brag creatively. Production comes from Ice Spice’s go-to collaborator RIOTUSA, who used drill and Jersey Club elements. Aqua, who created the original song “Barbie Girl,” is also sampled on this new version. The song is short but has still accumulated over 346 million streams and hit No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Just Wanna Rock” – Lil Uzi Vert

This nominee at the 2024 Grammys is a song that was played on the radio many times. People credit it for bringing the subgenre of Jersey Club to mainstream listeners. Users all over TikTok were emulating the moves from the song’s music video, and it became a staple for social events. The song’s simplistic lyrics made it easy for listeners to rap along and for it to get stuck in their heads. “Just Wanna Rock” was released in October 2022 and continues to be used across multiple forms of media. Uzi’s hometown of Philadelphia took pride in the song, and the Philadelphia Eagles used it during their entrance at their NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. Much to the joy of their fans  – they won. Uzi also performed the song at WrestleMania 39 at SoFi Stadium in California.

“Rich Flex” – Drake & 21 Savage

Drake’s Grammy speech from 2019 was a monumental moment, but they still nominated him at the 2024 Grammys. This track comes from his collab album with 21 Savage, Her Loss. This is the first song on the album and its most popular, with over 677 million streams. In fact, “Rich Flex” is the source of the “21, can you do somethin’ for me?” meme that took over social media. Meme status aside, listeners praised the collaboration.

21’s verse takes a moment to interlope Megan Thee Stallion’s flow from “Savage” in his own creative way, which surprised all listeners. They also liked how 21’s signature ad-libs fit in during Drake’s hook but praised the song’s beat switches most. Drake sings over a soulfully sparse beat at the song’s halfway point, which switches again as an aggressive trap beat comes barreling in. Naturally, Drake adjusts his delivery to match it.

“Scientists & Engineers” – Killer Mike Feat. André 3000, Future & Eryn Allen Kane

This song might be the most surprising choice in this category at the 2024 Grammys. They often overlook lyricism-focused songs, especially ones from nonmainstream artists. However, “Scientists & Engineers” was an exceptional song for rap fans. As expected, as soon as the André 3000 feature on it was announced, listeners were clamoring for the song’s release. Much like any release from the past decade with an André 3000 feature, they were ready to declare his verse the best one of the year. Additionally, Future’s feature on the song initially shocked many listeners, but they commended him for his contribution to the track. The song comes from MICHAEL, the Grammy-nominated album by Killer Mike that many have called one of the best rap albums released this year.

YG Responds To The Man Who Called Him To Take Down Post Of His Alleged Baby Mama

YG might be getting into one of the more unique storylines of 2023. Quite frankly, it is surprising, considering the fact that he remains fairly clear of the media. However, that all turned on a dime and now he is in some sort of beef with a man from the California area. The fella’s name is Andre Lowe Jr., and he is a content creator from San Diego. According to his bio on Instagram, he raps and does comedy. From that alone, this all looks to be fake from the outside.

This all began several hours ago when Andre left a message for the California rapper. YG had posted a photo on his Instagram of him at some strip club with money all around a stripper on a pole. That woman is “Andre’s baby mama.” He reached out to the hitmaker politely asking him to take down the post in respect for the relationship. However, if you do some deeper digging, it seems that he is totally lying.

There are a few people who do not seem to be seeing that it is a ruse. But, it is a little hard to tell what to believe at this point. YG caught wind of Andre’s pleading video and he included it in a new post. The first image is just the rapper with some red classic cars with this caption, “🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴” Andre was in comments section, “really getting angry” with him. “BRUH! So you really not about to take it down????????? I’m Fina get mad.” Joey Bada$$ is also getting involved and he seems to be buying all of this. “He should’ve kept that s*** to himself ! ain’t nobody know that was ya baby mama till you spilled the beans 😂

What are your initial thoughts on YG’s vague response to the man who asked him to take down the Instagram post of his alleged baby mama? How do you think this will all play out?
