Since his release from prison in 2018, Meek Mill has used his platform to advocate for criminal justice reform. The “Dreams & Nightmares” rapper’s campaigning doesn’t stop when he hits the stage. During his Rolling Loud Portugal 2023 performances, Meek called for a fellow entertainer’s release. However, the musician learned quickly that not everyone agrees with him.

While performing his 2016 song “Litty,” Meek Mill declared “Free Tory Lanez” to the sea of Rolling Loud attendees, and while the crowd didn’t give him any pushback, social media wasn’t too happy about it. Lanez, who appeared on the track with Meek, is awaiting sentencing for assaulting rapper Megan Thee Stallion.

After the fan-captured clip was shared on social media, users chimed in on Meek’s call to release the recording artist. Several users alleged that Meek couldn’t find fault in what his former collaborator was convicted of because he was also accused of similar abusive behaviors toward his ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj. One user wrote, “Of course, he says that birds of a feather flock together.”

Another user wrote, “Abusers supporting each other, what’s new.”

Meek denied all accusations of being abusive toward Minaj, writing in a now-deleted tweet, “The only way you can try to kill my career is to say I beat women.”

The case of Tory Lanez against Megan Thee Stallion over a shooting has been one of the most high-profile and divisive stories in the rap world in recent years. While many stand by Megan’s story, others are more quick to be skeptical, or instead focus on how the Canadian artist has been affected by all this. Moreover, the latest to do so in very public fashion is Meek Mill, who did so during his Rolling Loud Portugal set. In fact, it was a timely declaration as he did so right after he played a brief part of their collaboration “Litty.” “Free Tory Lanez,” the Philly rapper proclaimed after the song wrapped up.

Also, this is quite the interesting development considering that both artists had beef in the past. However, it seems like all the legal trouble eventually convinced Meek Mill to forego his past issues with Tory Lanez. Of course, this statement during a festival performance probably won’t sit well with many fans out there, regardless of who they listen to more or even at all. Still, it’s unfortunately quite a popular sentiment that takes aim at Megan Thee Stallion’s story and presumed injustice rather than at the justice system as a whole.

Also, he told the Philly native that he was getting a drunken hug too, which he hilariously protested against with a couple of “Nooooooo”s. On his own IG, Baby posted another video of Mike threatening to hug him and actually exposed the person who took them in jest, who rode around with them in the air.

Meek Mill Previews An Unreleased Fabolous Verse

Philadelphia-based rapper Meek Mill went onto social media recently to show off an unreleased verse from Fabolous. He puts Fabolous’ Instagram handle on the video, which shows a breakfast table with a half-full glass of orange juice. In the background, the verse is going off, with the Brooklyn rapper spitting his flow as Meek Mill bops the phone up and down a little. “I should not be taken lightly, ima heavy topic,” reads the caption, a nod to the final line you hear in the video.

As posted on THE HIP-HOP WOLF (@thehiphopwolf), many fans have gone to the comments to offer their takes. Plenty of people are calling the verse “whack” or “weak.” One commenter was confused about why Meek Mill was recording New York stuff. Others turned to Fabolous’ verse, saying that the rapper was “falling off.” Overall, it’s wonderful that Meek and Fab are coming out with new material. Meek Mill has been extra busy ever since he got out of prison in 2018. He released an album later that same year, Championships. In 2021, he came out with his fifth studio album, Expensive Pain, which debuted at number three on the Billboard 200. However, since then, he has broken off ties with Jay Z’s Roc Nation Entertainment and blasted Atlantic Records for low sales of his last album. He even claimed Atlantic Records got in the way of who came into the studio to record with him.

As for Fabolous, he recently teamed up with Diddy and the City Girls to produce the club banger “Act Bad.” Fab is looking to collab with more rappers than just Meek Mill. He called out Eminem as someone he’d want to rap with, calling him “Real Hip-Hop.” Time will tell if Fabolous gets into the booth with more hip-hop heavy hitters, but for now, we can enjoy a little taste of a Meek Mill-Fabolous verse. That only means good things are coming.

For months now, student loan borrowers have been holding onto hope that Joe Biden’s plan to forgive up to $20K in loans per borrower would come to pass. Now, though, we know that it won’t: Today (June 30), the Supreme Court voted 6-3 to overturn the Biden administration’s student loan debt cancellation plan.

Meek Mill had a quick reaction to that, comparing the situation to how much funding the government devotes to other areas. He tweeted, “why are we having a problem with money for education but giving money away for war?? I’ve been seeing this narrative on the news since a child I’ll never understand it!”

Biden is in the same camp as Meek: After the SCOTUS decision was revealed, Biden shared a statement that reads in part, “The hypocrisy of Republican elected officials is stunning. They had no problem with billions in pandemic-related loans to businesses – including hundreds of thousands and in some cases millions of dollars for their own businesses. And those loans were forgiven. But when it came to providing relief to millions of hard-working Americans, they did everything in their power to stop it. […] I believe that the Court’s decision to strike down our student debt relief plan is wrong. But I will stop at nothing to find other ways to deliver relief to hard-working middle-class families.”

One thing Meek Mill going to do is rap. Over the weekend, Meek hit Instagram and shared clips of three freestyles. One tackling Tupac’s “Hail Mary,” another over JAY-Z’s “Renegade,” and also Jadakiss’ “Still Feel Me.”

Meek Mill is ready to go. Hitting Twitter, the Dreamchasers leader revealed that he has two albums ready to go.

Tweeting on Father’s Day, Meek Mill stated he is working on a joint album with Vory before announcing the second one is a “collab album.” The joint album with Vory is set to feature Symba.

“It’s going to be a top tier rap album and a vibeeeee,” Meek wrote. “It’s a collab album from some Of your favorite artists on one super movie.”

Last Wednesday, asked fans if they think he “fell off.”

The Philly-based artist posted: “Who think I fell off or don’t really think I got it with rapping anymore?….I’m fr I need answers and tell the truth I’m not taking it personal … I need to hear how people think before I do what I do! A social experiment! Answer if you a supporter of mines!”

Responses to the tweet were mixed with some users saying that he needs to adapt his music to be more in line with current artistic styles while others said that he should stay true to his original style and perhaps go deeper on subject matter now that he is older. A few cracked jokes about other alternative income streams such as selling feet pics.

One thing that many were in agreement on was the fact that the only way the question can be answered is with the release of new music. Meek released his last studio album, Expensive Pain, in 2021. The album debuted and peaked at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Meek Mill is leaning hard into conspiracy theories. Meek is known for his active presence on Twitter. The rapper has tweeted some questionable things throughout his Twitter tenure. He has been known to engage in beefs and share confounding AI-generated raps on the platform. Now, he has once again taken to the platform to express his thoughts. This time, it is regarding the missing Titanic submersible in the North Atlantic. The rapper tweeted about the situation to voice his skepticism about the actual reason the submersible is missing.

In a tweet on June 21, Meek questioned the actions of a wealthy individual onboard the craft. The rapper suggested that there must be contingency plans in place. “I can’t see a wealthy man doing this with no extreme back up plans…” Meek tweeted. He followed up his skepticism with a healthy dose of media criticism. He lambasted the media for circulating similar clips without providing substantial information. Furthermore, Meek emphasized that there are more pressing issues in the world that deserve attention.

Meek Isn’t The Only Skeptic

Meek is not the only one who expressed skepticism about the incident. Details are scarce, but CNN’s ongoing live update provided some confirmed details about the incident. The OceanGate Expeditions vessel, named “Titan,” lost contact with its support ship while descending to the wreckage site of the Titanic on June 18. The submersible initially had 96 hours of life support. Thursday morning was considered a crucial time to locate the vessel and its occupants. That means those on board have very little time left to be found alive. The US Coast Guard redirected some of its equipment to investigate banging sounds detected during the aerial search, but no results were obtained.

In addition to Meek Mill, Cardi B also took to Twitter to speak on the situation. Hamish Harding, a British billionaire, was among the passengers on the submersible. News circulated that his stepson, Brian Szasz, attended a recent Blink-182 concert. This happened after the submersible went missing. Upon hearing this, Cardi B expressed confusion about Szasz’s attendance while his stepfather was missing. This led to a heated exchange of insults between Szasz and Cardi B. Meek Mill recently used his Twitter account to share a confounding AI-generated rap about his father and perpetuate his beef with DJ Drama. So it was only a matter of time before the social media addict chimed in on the missing Titanic submersible in the North Atlantic, as reported by The New York Times.

“I can’t see a wealthy man doing this with no extreme back up plans….with your son, not saying it’s fake but the way y’all run the same clips in media not even working on the average minds anymore,” Meek tweeted on Wednesday, June 21, in response to an unverified update that the submersible had “less than 22 hours of oxygen left” for passengers trapped inside. “All types of stuff going on in the world y’all headlining with no real info lol”

According to CNN’s ongoing live update, the OceanGate Expeditions vessel lost contact with its support ship, Polar Prince, while descending two hours to the wreckage site of the Titanic on the morning of Sunday, June 18.

There is still mystery surrounding the what, how, and why of the incident, but CNN relayed what little information has been confirmed:

“The submersible, known as ‘Titan,’ begins each trip with 96 hours of life support and has been missing since Sunday, setting up Thursday morning as a key target for finding the vessel and those on board.

“The US Coast Guard rerouted some of its equipment to try to pinpoint banging sounds heard during the aerial search Tuesday and Wednesday morning in the remote North Atlantic area. Though it didn’t yield any results, the sonar devices from the Canadian P-3 aircraft are being analyzed by the US Navy, officials said Wednesday.”

British billionaire Hamish Harding is one of the passengers on the vehicle, and news began circulating that his stepson, Brian Szasz, attended a recent Blink-182 concert. Earlier Wednesday, Cardi B was perplexed as to why Szasz would do such a thing while his stepfather was missing. Szasz slung insults Cardi’s way in response to the criticism in since-deleted tweets.

Meek Mill To Sukihana About YK Osiris: “Don’t Do This To Him”
