Kodak Black Was Released From Jail And Celebrated By Throwing Rocks At A Reporter

In early December, Kodak Black was arrested for suspected cocaine possession — his latest in a long line of run-ins with the law that led to an extended stay in a detention facility. Today, though, the Associated Press reports that Kodak — whose real name is Bill Kapri — was released from jail after a judge ruled in his favor when the substance found by police was confirmed to be oxycodone, for which Kodak had a prescription.

Police in Plantation, Florida arrested Kodak after finding him asleep in a vehicle with white power on his face. Prosecutors said it initially tested positive for cocaine, and the arrest was considered a violation of Kodak’s existing probation agreement from a prior conviction for illegal weapons possession. Broward County Circuit Judge Barbara Duffy dismissed the cocaine possession charge about two weeks ago, and on Tuesday, sentenced Kodak to time served for the probation violation, making him eligible for release. Kodak still awaits trial for a separate drug case from 2022 in which he’s accused of trafficking more oxycodone pills. His lawyers maintain the drugs were prescribed for personal use.

According to Billboard, Kodak’s first actions upon leaving Broward County jail included throwing rocks at a photographer. A Local 10 News team on site reported that Kodak accosted them, threatening to punch a reporter and throwing rocks at the photographer, hitting him in the ribs. They later filed a police report.

Yesteray, Kodak Black’s lawyer Bradford Cohen posted on social media that his client would be released before the end of the night. As scheduled, Black, whose real name is Bill Kapri, left the Miami Federal Detention Center, but not before hurling rocks at reporters and even allegedly threatening one of them.

Cohen’s IG post said, “Federal Probation terminated with time served. In the Southern District of Florida Judge Maritnez dismissed all substantive counts and Kodak plead to sole violation of failure to report police contact. Time served and he should be released by tonight. With my co counsel @skywriter.esq @kodakblack.”

Moments after his release, video footage from a cell phone caught Kodak throwing rocks at a camera man and even threatening a reporter.

Earloer this week, it was revealed that a federal judge threw out Black’s drug possession charge and reinstated his bond from last year, allowing him to be released on bond. The pills that was in Black’s possession at the time of his arrest was oxycodone, for which he had a prescription. His attorney successfully disputed a cocaine possession claim, and the oxycodone charge was dropped

Kodak Black’s Youngest Child Set To Arrive Following Prison Release

Before former U.S. President Donald Trump left the White House in 2020, one of the last official moves he made was pardoning Back For Everything rapper Kodak Black. Hip-hop heads were somewhat shocked by this decision. They’ve been even more surprised to see how recklessly the Florida native has moved at times since. He’s been arrested for things like drug possession and trespassing in recent years. The former unfortunately landed him behind bars before 2023 came to a close. At the time, Yak was accused of having cocaine on his person. Thanks to attorney Bradford Cohen’s tireless work, the judge agreed that it was Oxycodone – a medication that the rhymer has a prescription for.

After the charges were dropped Black still wasn’t immediately released. On Wednesday (February 21), cameras caught footage of the controversial entertainer on his way home. Yak eager to reconnect with his loved ones and get back to business as usual in the studio. Elsewhere, he’s also expecting his fourth child to arrive later this week. Baby mama Maranda Johnson, who the “Love & War” artist already shares a two-year-old daughter with, has been holding it down in his absence, and her Instagram is full of stunning maternity photos pleading with authorities to free her baby daddy.

As XXL notes, Cohen spoke about his famous client’s release in a statement on social media yesterday. “In [typical] Kodak fashion, he just pledged to donate to the college fund of a 2-year-old and a 5-month-old, whose father was a Minnesota officer killed recently in the line of duty,” the attorney praised Yak. “Expecting his 2nd son this Friday, he knows how important family is and hopes it helps relieve some burden.” Besides the unborn addition to his family with Johnson, Black already has two other children.

Kodak Black’s supporters are happy to see him embracing life as a free man again. Still, the rapper was less than pleased with the number of people watching him leave prison after successfully having his drug possession charges thrown out. Kodak Black Drops Some Crazy Bars On “Shampoo”

Kodak Black can either go really dark and serious or just plain goofy on a track at any given moment. One of his most iconic performances has to be on A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s smash hit “Drowning” back in 2017. Who could really forget when the Florida rapper said, “I’m the s*** I’m fartin’, I don’t know how to potty /
Pull up in a ‘Rari, I’m in the Yo like Gotti
.”

Well, he might have another signature moment on his latest single “Shampoo.” This Kodak track is quite the contrast in tone and sound compared to his previous single “11am In Malibu.” It saw him rap over Drake’s “8am in Charlotte” beat from For All The Dogs and diss Boosie Badazz. It was one of his best outings and it shows that Kodak is more than a mumble rapper to those who are in that camp.

Drug Charges Against Kodak Black Dropped

Kodak Black Says He's Drake's Favorite Rapper | The Source

Kodak Black no longer has to answer for a drug charge placed against him in Florida. According to the Sun Sentinel, Black gets off on prosecution dropping the ball.

According to Judge Barbara Duffy, the prosecutors did not “refute or negate the material fact that the defendant had an oxycodone prescription filled by a pharmacy.”

To refresh your memory, Kodak’s car was searched after he was found napping inside. His attorney, Bradford Cohen, pushed for a dismissal, citing the rapper did not have cocaine on him.

“Motion to Dismiss @kodakblack new case for possession of ‘cocaine’ that was actually oxycodone….GRANTED,” Cohen wrote on Instagram. “I will leave that right here. We have moved to have his bond reinstated. With my friends for over 20 years, @skywriter.esq and Fred Haddad.”

Kodak Black to Remain in Jail Four More Weeks As Judge Reviews His Case

Kodak Black's "Super Gremlin" Tops RapCaviar's Most Streamed Song List for First Half of 2022

Kodak Black will remain behind bars for at least another month. According to AllHipHop, documents reveal the rapper’s case needs more time for review by Judge Jose E. Martinez.

Martinez is reviewing whether Kodak Black’s supervised release should be revoked. The next hearing for the case will be Feb. 21.

Earlier this week, Black’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, asked to dismiss charges of possession of oxycodone, citing the rapper had a prescription. Black was charged in Dec. 2023 after an officer searched his car during a traffic stop, finding cocaine, but opted for oxycodone possession.

After the initial arrest, Black hit Instagram to provide a first-hand account on what happened.

“I was on lean, asleep in front of my family house, that’s it,” Black said.

In the same Instagram Live, Black admitted to using methamphetamine and Percocets. In response to cocaine he said, “I ain’t no baser. I ain’t no junkie.”

It sounds really good too and fans agree with so many commenting fire emojis under DJ Akademik’s post.

D-Block Europe Go Across The Pond To Recruit Kodak Black For “Still Play Valorant”

It is always cool when talents from different countries bring their respective approaches to a track. Almost always, it leads to bangers, or something new and refreshing. Today it is the first of those two outcomes. The artists that have joined forces this time around are British rap duo D-Block Europe and Florida’s Kodak Black.

The name of the track is “Still Play Valorant” and this is not a single. Rather, it is closer to the collective’s most recent full-length project, Rolling Stone. With all of the major releases this past weekend, it took some time to get to it. However, we are glad we are able to share it. One of the best parts of this cut is the production hands down.

Listen To “Still Play Valorant” By D-Block Europe And Kodak Black

It is wavy, spacey, and pure melodic trap goodness. If you are into auto-tune you are going to dig this. While it might be a bit of a loose comparison, it shares some similarities to A Boogie wit da Hoodie’s 2017 song “Beast Mode” from The Bigger Artist. The whisky, ghostly, and woodwind-like elements add an ethereal vibe to the violent track. D-Block Europe makes a witty reference to the first-person shooting game, Valorant to show their aggressive nature. “Got sticks at home and I still play VALORANT.” Check it out for yourself above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Still Play Valorant,” by D-Block Europe and Kodak Black? Who had the best performance out of the three? Who is going to have the biggest year in 2024 and why? Where do you rank Black’s guest verse amongst the rest of his features? Doja Cat Lyrically Rains Holy Hell On ‘Jeezu’ From Jeymes Samuel’s ‘The Book Of Clarence’ Alongside Kodak Black & Adekunle Gold

When the film’s director and soundtrack executive producer, Jeymes Samuel, teased that the world wasn’t ready for what was up his sleeve, it wasn’t an exaggeration. Following months of fighting off claims that she’s a Satanist, The Book Of Clarence’s official soundtrack gave Doja Cat the divine platform to part her sea of haters for good. If there was ever any lingering doubt that Doja Cat isn’t a “real rapper,” it should be put to bed thanks to her verse on “Jeezu.”

Doja Cat lyrically rains holy hell down on her naysayers. “Pass the Kirkland, I see she thirstin’, see me, and they nerd out / I been doin’ God’s work, haters got the word out / Y’all got an agenda, but we’ll see how that gon’ turn out / Many false prophets leavin’ brothers with a firm doubt / Father, please forgive me, for today, they finna learn now / Put me in the dirt, and you gon’ see, I make it worthwhile,” raps Doja.

Yes, she’s a force in the pop space, but she made it clear that she’s no rap slouch. In his verse, Kodak Black used it as a confessional to address his troubled past with Adekunle Gold there to finish out the holy trinity.

Listen to Jeymes Samuel, Doja Cat, &Kodak Black’s new track “Jeezu” featuring Adekunle Gold above.
