Bad Bunny And Tyler The Creator Headline Made In America Festival’s Incredible 2022 Lineup

Tyler The Creator and Bad Bunny are set to headline the 2022 edition of Made In America, alongside an impressive selection of international stars. The festival returns to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on Labor Day Weekend, September 3-4 with Lil Uzi Vert, Jazmine Sullivan, Burna Boy, Snoh Aalegra, Kodak Black, Pusha T, Lil Tjay, Tate Mcrae, Fuerza Regida, Toro Y Moi, Babyface Ray, Key Glock, Larry June, Rels B, Victoria Monet, Chimbala, Ryan Castro, and more. Passes and more information are available at madeinamericafest.com/.

Made In America celebrated its tenth-anniversary last year with headliners Justin Bieber and Lil Baby, although technically, the tenth event will be this year due to 2020’s COVID-related cancelation.

It’s shaping up to be a pretty stacked summer for music festivals, as Day N Vegas also announced its lineup today featuring headliners J. Cole, SZA, and Travis Scott, who is returning after a months-long hiatus after his own Astroworld Festival in 2021 ended with 10 deaths and hundreds of injuries. We’ve already seen The Roots Picnic this month, while HARD Summer and iHeartRadio are set to take place later in the year. If you’re any kind of music fan, you’ll certainly have plenty of opportunities to catch your faves live at some point — if you can decide which one of the dozen or so fests coming this year you want to spring for.

New Elvis Movie to Feature Major Hip-Hop Stars including Doja Cat and Eminem

Doja Cat Elvis

Elvis may be known for the blues, but the new movie about his life will feature some of hip-hop’s hottest names including Doja Cat, Eminem, CeeLo Green, Tame Impala, Swae Lee, Diplo, Jazmine Sullivan, and more.

The biography about the famous late artist aptly titled Elvis, debuted at the Cannes Film Festival this week. The biopic is directed by Baz Luhrmann (The Great GatsbyRomeo & Juliet) and stars Austin Butler in the lead role as Elvis. The movie also stars Tom Hanks and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

The soundtrack, which will be released on June 24, the same day the movie hits theaters, is already getting almost as much hype as the film itself, namely for its eclectic mix of artists, many of whom have integrated his music into their own original works.

While the soundtrack itself is still under wraps, Doja Cat already teased her piece at Coachella last month. She performed her song “Vegas,” an interpolation of Elvis’s 1956 hit song “Hound Dog,” receiving rave reviews from the audience and critics alike. A sample is available on YouTube.

The other artists have not yet teased their work on the album, but it appears based on an Instagram post that Eminem and CeeLo Green have a collab on the soundtrack. In addition to the previously mentioned hip-hop artists, other notable names on the soundtrack include 70’s icon Stevie Nicks, Europe’s Måneskin, country artist Kacey Musgraves, new rapper Nardo Wick, Australian dance music trio Pnau, and other emerging artists.

In addition to gracing the album of what is already likely to be one of summer’s hottest films, Doja Cat has a busy summer coming up as she prepares to embark on The Weeknd’s Dawn FM arena tour.

Elvis Presley, often dubbed “The King of Rock and Roll” or sometimes just “The King,” was born in 1935 and died on August 16, 1977.

Mary J. Blige, Jazmine Sullivan And Questlove Are Among The Musicians Selected For The 2022 Time 100 List

Today, Time revealed the 2022 Time100 list made up of the 100 most influential people in the world and music was well represented. Mary J. Blige, Jazmine Sullivan, Questlove, Adele, Jon Batiste, Miranda Lambert, and Michelle Zauner have all been selected for this year’s grand recognition. For the list’s 19th iteration, each nominee has been paired with a guest contributor tapped to write about them, and that list also boasts some big names in James Corden (Adele), Quincy Jones (Jon Batiste), Nas (Mary J. Blige), Elle King (Miranda Lambert), Amber Riley (Jazmine Sullivan), Jimmy Fallon (Questlove), and Bowen Yang (Michelle Zauner).

Blige, the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,” has been selected as one of the cover stars, joining Zendaya, Tim Cook, Mia Mottley, and Simu Liu. “Mary came up the way we all did. She was a voice for us, but she wasn’t like other R&B artists at the time. She became a household name early because she was a hip-hop artist who also sang. The industry needed someone like that,” Nas wrote of Blige. Jon Batiste is set to be one of the speakers at the Time100 Summit on June 7 in New York City. Oprah Winfrey, Quinta Brunson, Zoe Kravitz, and Ketanji Brown Jackson are among other notable names, as this year’s list features 49 women. Check out the full list here.

These Photos Show Sol Blume Festival Is A Dream Escape For R&B And Hip-Hop Lovers

This past weekend, Sol Blume festival returned to Sacramento, CA for the time since 2019. Held at Discovery Park – with its sweeping 300-acre riverfront grounds – the third edition of the festival saw a powerful, all-female headlining bill in Jazmine Sullivan, Jorja Smith, Summer Walker and Jhene Aiko.

In recent years, we’ve seen lineup figures cross the 30 percent mark of female-led acts on the bill, but that number seldom affects the headlining slate, which is typically dominated by male artists. Some festivals recently made it a priority to feature female-led acts in at least half of the bill, but when it comes to hip-hop/R&B, that effort is generally negligible. Sol Blume is (hopefully) pioneering a new trend in booking multiple women to headline festivals across all genres.

Day 1 of the festival kicked off with perfect weather and R&B stars like Ravyn Lenae, Lauren Jauregui, and Lucky Daye. West Coast rappers Buddy and D Smoke brought some balancing hip-hop energy across the two festival stages before DVSN, Majid Jordan, Alina Baraz, Jazmine Sullivan, and Jorja Smith took over for some nighttime, sing-along R&B vibes. Sol Blume producers made a note to make sure none of the set times overlapped across the two stages, so ticket holders truly got their money’s worth being able to catch every act on their wish list.

Day 2’s energy was just as high as Day 1, with West Coast stars like Rexx Life Raj, Victoria Monet, Tinashe, BLXST, and Syd packing Discovery Park and priming the thousands in attendance for two of R&B’s biggest stars of today: Summer Walker and Jhene Aiko.

Sol Blume Festival Adds Jazmine Sullivan to All Black Woman Headliner Lineup

JAZMINE SULLIVAN 2021 Photo 1

With the third Sol Blume less than three weeks away, Jazmine Sullivan has been added to the 2022 music festival schedule by the local founder of one of the year’s largest annual R&B events.

Jazmine Sullivan will join previously announced headliners Summer Walker, Jhené Aiko, and Jorja Smith to start off Day 1 festivities at Discovery Park in Sacramento. Sol Blume has become one of, if not the only, big US music festivals this year to showcase a lineup composed entirely of Black female headliners, thanks to this addition to the lineup.

Sol Blume Festival organizers have released a statement:

Sol Blume is excited to add Jazmine Sullivan as one of this year’s festival headliners. Blumers will be treated to a number of R&B hits from the Grammy Award-winning powerhouse songstress, who recently released her latest album Heaux Tales just last year to critical acclaim following 2015’s Reality Show.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, PartyNextDoor is now unable to make it to Sol Blume this spring. We hope to invite him back to Sacramento again soon!

You can see the complete lineup below and tickets can be purchased here.

Jazmine Sullivan Cancels Another Show Due to Battle With COVID-19

Unfortunately for fans of Jazmine Sullivan, some audiences won’t get to see the singer as scheduled for her ongoing “Heux Tales” Tour. ON February 23rd, the singer announced that she would cancel her show in Sacramento as she felt “extremely under the weather.” At the time, the singer stated that she had tested negative for COVID-19 before updating fans because she did test positive on the following day.

“My doctor confirmed today that I’m positive with Covid. I am taking every precaution to isolate myself,” the singer penned. “I’m truly sad to have to cancel more shows but health and safety come first for myself, my team, and all of you.”

While many fans in Nashville were most likely preparing to see the singer perform, Sullivan gave fans an update that she is still recovering from the deadly virus with a post to her Instagram.

“I know I’ve been quiet but I’ve been trying to rest my body and my voice. COVID got the best of me and I have to postpone tomorrow’s show in Nashville. I apologize to my fans who have been waiting to see me. I’ve been so looking forward to seeing You all too and it has been hard for me to not play these shows. I’m really praying I will be ready for Atlanta and I’m trying to take it day by day. And I will be seeing You soon,” the singer wrote with the fingers crossed emoji.

We hope that Jazmine Sullivan will be in the best of health soon, as the singer battles COVID-19.
