Metro Boomin Thinks Hip-Hop Is “Alive & Well” As Drake & Kendrick Lamar Beef Heats Up

Do you folks remember last year, right around this time, when the hip-hop community was debating whether the genre was dead or not? We hadn’t seen a No. 1 rap song or album in a long time as of May 2023, and it was a conversation that permeated through a lot of those 365 days. Well, nowadays that conversation looks very different, and it’s thanks to the biggest rap beef we’ve seen in at least a couple of years: Drake versus Kendrick Lamar. Right now, that’s the main event, but just a few weeks ago, there were many more players directly involved, namely Future and Metro Boomin.

Speaking of which, the St. Louis producer recently posted a picture of him in the studio (making some drums, as Drake requested) with the following caption: “HIP-HOP IS ALIVE AND WELL.” Of course, there are multiple different ways in which fans could be interpreting this message right now. The first is that Metro Boomin is teasing an upcoming project, song, or other related release on the way, and that this means that he will keep contributing to rap music’s canon very soon. The other and much more likely explanation is that he’s celebrating the success of his and Future’s collab album series, WE [STILL] DON’T TRUST YOU, and gassing up the release of Kendrick Lamar’s response track to Drake, “euphoria.”

Furthermore, their Kendrick Lamar collaboration “Like That” on the series’ first installment is what really ignited the explosion of this whole beef, roping in Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, Kanye West, and more against Drake. Also, Metro Boomin had previous rumored issues with Drizzy, and these releases and disses exposed a lot of shifting relationships and bonds in the OVO camp and beyond. Right now, Aubrey Graham is probably hard at work on a response to K.Dot, and they’ve both teased nuclear weapons in their arsenal that they haven’t revealed yet. Only time will tell whether their bluffs will become bombs.

Meanwhile, even though Drake kind of shooed away everyone in this fight expect Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin is right to make this assessment of hip-hop, which has always been true since its birth over 50 years ago. Even though he didn’t come out as an explicit victor in this beef, his “Like That” track, its aftermath, and all his work this year has kept rap at a commercial and artistic high, plus previous chart-toppers in 2024 such as 21 Savage and others. Whether it’s reigning over Billboard charts or causing more interest in verse writing and bar work, it’s a stimulating, chaotic, but pretty fun time to be a hip-hop fan. But we need to acknowledge how to handle that attention responsibly, because the numbers are temporary, but the art is forever.

Sexyy Red Pre-Fame Photo Leaves Fans Stunned By Her Looks

It wasn’t that long ago that Sexyy Red was largely unknown to most rap fans. Her breakthrough took place less than a year ago when her Nicki Minaj-featuring “Pound Town 2” started to build up momentum. That led to “Skee Yee” becoming a massive TikTok summer hit which led Sexyy to a couple of high-profile collaborations. Most notably she scored her biggest hit to date alongside Drake and SZA with “Rich Baby Daddy.” When she dropped her new solo single “Get It Sexyy” earlier this year it scored her highest chart debut to date.

For fans blindsided by how quickly she achieved fame, it doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon. But recently a reminder of just how far she’s come made the rounds online. A picture of Red before her fame and without her now distinctive look has gone viral. The picture sees her without her signature tats or red hair and fans are admittedly quite impressed. “I been told n*ggas sexy actually fine” one of the top comments on the post reads. “She looked better wtf” another reply suggests. Sexyy Red recently found herself roped into the biggest beef in rap music. She was mentioned on “euphoria” Kendrick Lamar’s recent response track to Drake. In the song, Kendrick takes shots at the two rapper’s association as an attempt to joke about Drake’s sexuality. A few weeks ago Tay Keith spoke on the surprising backlash he received even from those around him for working with Red. He was one of the earliest adopters of the unique MC and has continued to work with her throughout her recent rapid rise to fame.

Conway The Machine Reveals Stacked Guestlist For Upcoming LP “SFK”

Conway the Machine is a prolific rapper, everyone knows that. But he is also one of the most consistent when it comes to quality. You are really never going to get a bad album from the Buffalo, New York native. Sure, with the rate he drops, there will be the occasional snoozer for some. But you never listen to an album of his and want to turn it off. That is a huge reason why we are extremely excited to share that Conway the Machine will be dropping another new album in the next week called SFK.

According to Genius, this will be his fourth studio album amidst his massive discography. SFK will see a May 10 release and it will follow up a slew of projects from 2023. Those include offerings such as WON’T HE DO IT (his third album), Speshal Machinery, Palermo, Hall & Nash 2, and more. It will also be his second project of the year, coming after a special edition of Speshal called The Ghronic Edition with Big Ghost Ltd.

According to HipHopNMore, Conway revealed the cover art about a week ago, which is a slant-faced emoji referencing to Conway’s alias as the Slant Faced Killer. Now, we have the guestlist, and it is absolutely loaded with stars and underground legends alike. Names include Swizz Beatz, The Alchemist, Cardo, Ab-Soul, Stove God Cooks, Joey Bada$$, and Conductor Williams, just to list a few. So, it is safe to say we are juiced for this release.

Future’s Baby Momma Addresses Lil Tjay Dating Rumors

Brittni Mealy, who shares a child with Future, shot down the rumors that she’s been dating Lil Tjay in a post on her Instagram Story on Wednesday. The rumors began to gain traction after users on the internet uncovered photos of the two of them appearing to be on the same plane.

“Let’s be clear cause yall blogs love a made up story let me clear this up immediately,” Mealy wrote in her post. “TJAY is like my lil brother damn near my son age!! Yall are reaching to think it’s giving dating! Do yall know how old I am!! Absolutely nothing like that At all!” She further added: “It’s hella people around to try and single me out for some clicks is crazyyyyy! When I pop out yall won’t have to piece some sh*t together.” Mealy also posted a screenshot of the account, IG Model Tea Room, with the caption: “Very much fake news! Stop it!!!!!” They appear to have been promoting the rumors online.

Future and Mealy have known one another for over a decade at this point. The two made headlines back in 2022 at their son’s 8th birthday party after getting in a fight at the event. Afterward, Mealy clarified that it was an isolated incident and that Future had been a good co-parent. “I can say In 11 years I’ve knew my sons dad I haven’t felt threaten by him nor has my son,” Brittni said online at the time. “The other night was a isolated situation.” She added it was important to her not to “paint a picture of him to the world like he is this violent hateful man and bad mean father. He make sure I’m good he make sure our son good we family we go through things and that’s that.”

Danileigh Shows Her Emotions Discussing Why Her Music Isn’t Catching On

In a new video making the rounds online, Danileigh gets emotional discussing her music. The singer has been dropping singles and albums for a few years now. But it doesn’t appear to have caught on in the way she hoped. In the clip she discusses her controversial past and how it may have an impact on people streaming and promoting the music she releases today. The video wasn’t meant to be viewed by the public, so after it got out she took to Instagram to comment on the situation.

“I def take accountability for all of my past. I’m human and I’m growing. Won’t speak on it all because of legal reasons. But kno that I am sorry. Hope everyone has a good day. Not gonna read these comments cause ima be a big baby,” her comment reads. DaniLeigh’s brother is currently in the thick of a long legal battle with DaBaby. It spawned from an alleged physical altercation. But it’s been caught up in the courts so much because he can’t find the rapper to serve him his papers. He reportedly even hired a private detective to try and find DaBaby, but he couldn’t. That led Dani’s brother to ask the judge if he can serve the rapper his papers via an ad in a local newspaper.

But he also revealed that fans won’t have to wait long to hear the entire project because it’s dropping later this month.

Earlier this week, video made the rounds online of one of her shows ending in an absolute brawl. The context added to the clip even more as a man can be seen clearly smacking Stunna on the butt while she’s performing, which starts the confrontation.

Since then the man has claimed that he has a viable assault case, something that Stunna Girl took to Instagram Live to shut down. “I’m not a snitch so in reality I really could have him in jail right now for sexual assault but I ain’t even put bruh in jail. Not only that – he went on the internet, he DM’d me like 50 times popping it like, ‘Yes b*tch, I did this, I did that.’ He posted it, he posted captions acting hard, saying what he did, saying what he don’t do. Like, you can’t be a gangsta pervert rat,” she begins. “So my lawyer is like, they not even finna pick that sh*t up, bro. I got the upper hand in everything. 50 Cent Uses Eminem To Troll Diddy With Latest Jokes

50 Cent shared an edited video of a scene from Rush Hour 2 that was captioned: “When Diddy tried to buy 50 Cent some clothes” on Instagram, on Tuesday night. In the video, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker’s characters are replaced by 50 and Eminem while Jeremy Piven appears to be Diddy. Piven’s character attempts to touch Tucker near the waist in the video.

“This really how sh*t be going down! LOL,” 50 captioned the post. Fans basked in laughter in the comments section. “LMAO. Please don’t delete this one. Imma come back here when I want a laugh,” one user wrote. Others left countless laughing emojis.

The post is one of many seemingly endless jokes 50 has been making at Diddy’s expense as the Bad Boy mogul faces several lawsuits. The trolling reached a new level after Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones Jr.’s claims brought rumors about Diddy’s sexuality into play. 50 has even confirmed plans to work on a documentary about the allegations. The drama all began when Cassie filed a lawsuit against him, last year, accusing him of subjecting her to a “cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking.” The two settled the case just a day after filing. In the months since, several more alleged victims have come forward with stories about Diddy of their own.

Drake Trolls Kendrick Lamar With “10 Things I Hate About You” Clip

Drake got what he wanted. Once the feuding flood gates were opened with Kendrick Lamar’s “Like That” verse, Drake has had a field day trolling him. He’s dropped two diss tracks, poked fun at Lamar’s pgLang manager, and even used the voice of AI-2Pac to hurry his opponent up. Lamar finally clapped back with “Euphoria” on April 30, and true to form, the 6 God has jokes. Drake got on Instagram the evening the song dropped and used a film clip to express how unimpressed he is.

The film in question is 10 Things I Hate About You, and the clip in question sees the female lead list off all the thing she hates about her love interest. “I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut her hair,” she says. “I hate the way you drive my car, I hate it when you stare.” The clip runs 32 seconds in length, but the longer it goes on, the more emotional the character becomes. In the film, the character realizes that she’s still in love with the person she’s describing. “I hate it when you’re not around, and when you don’t call,” she adds.

Drake Uses The Film To Mock K. Dot’s Rhyme Scheme

Drake really turns up the trolling by posting two emojis over the clip: a broken heart and a winking face. The rapper is alluding to the chorus of Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria.” In a style similar to that of the crying character in 10 Things I Hate About You, Lamar rattles off the things he despises about Drake. “I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk,” he raps. “I hate the way that you dress, I hate the way you sneak diss.” Drake is basically dismissing Lamar’s approach and alluding to the fact that Lamar is spending way more time than he should thinking about him.

This is not the first time Drake has used a film clip to troll an opponent. The rapper told Metro Boomin to shut his a*s up and make some drums on “Push Ups,” then posted a clip of Drumline on his IG Story. The rapper likes to sneak film references into his bars, so this approach should come as no surprise. He told DJ Akademiks that a Kendrick Lamar response will be coming “soon.”
