Mother’s Day took place over the weekend and as you’d expect the rap world celebrated just like everyone else. For some that included paying tribute to their own mothers and wives. But for others who are mothers themselves, they were the center of attention. That was the case for Cardi B who is the mother of two children, Kulture and Wave. She had the children with former Migos rapper Offset, whom she’s always had a turbulent relationship with. Though rumors of infidelity and shots taken back and forth online emerged late last year, the pair seem to be doing okay now.

Some major evidence for that includes the elaborate collection of gifts Cardi received for Mother’s day. “Spoiled💐” she captioned her most recent Instagram post. The flower emoji in particular was a good choice as she showed off the stunning array of flowers she was gifted. Consequently, it’s far from the first time Offset has gone above-and-beyond spoiling Cardi. She’s been known to post similarly elaborate gifts the “SET IT OFF” rapper has sent her in the past. “Will spoil you but never be loyal to you… seems legit😂” one fan in the comments observes about the seeming contrast in recent news for the couple. Cardi B recently made for a grand finale at this year’s MET Gala carpet. She wore an incredibly elaborate black dress that required numerous assistants to carry alongside her. She’s dropped two singles from the record so far though it doesn’t have an official release date.

21 Savage Reveals Why He Kept His British Origins A Secret

A few years ago one of the most surprising stories to ever hit the rap world dropped. 21 Savage, who by this point was already a superstar rapper most commonly associated with Atlanta, was arrested by ICE. Fans confused by why the immigration organization wanted anything to do with the rapper quickly got a surprise answer. That came with the reveal that he was actually born in England and came to the United States as a young child. Since then he had been staying in the country illegally, which is at the center of a recent revelation he made online.

Since his arrest Savage has made the most of the forced reveal of his origins. He eventually fought through legal battles to be freed from ICE containment. After that he went on to get his official US citizenship to settle any future worries about his stay in the country. He used that as a platform to launch his first ever European tour where he played hyped shows in places like Paris and his native London. While in the UK he even shot the stylish music video for his recent hit song “redrum.” But in a recent Instagram comment he clarified exactly why he kept things secret for so long and fans think he’s making a pretty good point. During an unrelated conversation on Instagram about Soulja Boy, a fan called Savage’s alleged Atlanta roots into question. He claimed that Savage kept his London origins a secret until it was beneficial for his rap career, but the rapper hit back with a pretty good explanation for why he kept things quiet. “Why tf would I tell yall I’m here illegally?” his comment reads. In the replies fans can’t help but agree with his logic.

DJ Akademiks Accuses Kendrick Lamar Of Sending Bots To His Comments

The Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef continues to go to very strange places even after more than a week with no new disses dropping. Drake’s “The Heart Part 6” beef dropped last weekend and both artists have yet to follow it up. That hasn’t stopped fans from continuing to discuss the matter debating over who won. It also hasn’t stopped members of the rap media like DJ Akademiks making claims about ongoing matters of beef. That’s left fans anticipating that things may not be over like they seem.

One of the strangest elements of the beef are new accusations leveled by Ak. In recent months, particularly on X, formerly twitter, hundreds or even thousands of bots occasionally pop up and tweet bizarre phrases about a particular rapper. This previously roped in Drake and Pusha T reminding fans of the pair’s notorious 2018 beef. Though there’s no actual evidence of who is calling in the bots themselves and programming them to go after fellow rappers, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating. That’s exactly what DJ Akademiks did in a recent post. He screenshotted comments he received quoting one of Kendrick Lamar’s diss tracks. Drake Shares Heartfelt Mother’s Day Message To Sophie Brussaux

Mother’s day took place over the weekend and many in the rap world took the opportunity to shout out the mother figures in their lives. Rappers have a long history of paying tribute to the women who raised them, though less so sometimes to the women raising their own children. But that wasn’t the case with Drake, who wanted everyone to know that he was showing love to the mother of his son Adonis. He shared a post to his nearly 150 million Instagram followers paying tribute to Sophie Brussaux.

The post comes with an adorable picture of the model alongside Adonis. Over the picture Drake shares a caption showing love to the both of them. “Hey mama. Hope you are getting plenty love from our chosen one. Happy Mother’s Day” his caption reads. The post got particular attention in the wake of the “Rich Baby Daddy” rapper’s beef with Kendrick Lamar. His fatherhood was repeatedly called into question in the beef with Kendrick’s dark meditation “Meet The Grahams.” The track even features a passage where he speaks to Adonis directly. The beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar has continued to excite fans and spark discussion even after a full week with no new diss tacks. Charlamagne The God used a recent interview to discuss how he thinks Drake could still win the beef. DJ Akademiks also thinks the beef may not be over. During a recent stream he teased that the two rappers aren’t actually done yet. That’s in contrast to what Drizzy said at the end of his “The Heart Part 6” diss track. In the closing moments he claimed he was done with the beef and moving on.

Drake has had a pretty rough week and for obvious reasons. Overall, his beef with Kendrick Lamar has not gone according to plan. Although he seemed confident that he would come away with a win, Lamar stepped on “Family Matters” with “Meet The Grahams.” A Day later, Kendrick rectified the vibes by dropping “Not Like Us.” That record has since become the biggest song in the world and many believe it has the potential to be the song of the summer. Needless to say, Drake has been bested in the same way he typically defeats other artists.

Based on some information from the likes of DJ Akademiks, it would appear as though this feud is over, at least for now. Even Drake seemingly threw up the white flag on Sunday with his latest post about summer vibes. That said, it doesn’t seem like Drake has any interest in going away and hiding. We know this because this morning, he took to his Instagram story and offered up some fit pics. As you can see down below, Drake was wearing what appeared to be a reflective Nike NOCTA jumpsuit.

Akademiks went on to post these images with the caption “Don’t worry, The Boy still locked in. Stay tuned.” It’s an interesting caption, although fans are not sure what to make of all of this. After all, Akademiks has delivered some conflicting information on whether or not this is really all over. If one thing is for certain, it is that some fans are fatigued with all of this. Kendrick has been declared the winner by most, and very few have any interest in seeing this go further.

Q-Tip Receives Honorary Doctorate From Berklee & Speaks At Commencement Ceremony

Q-Tip accepted an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music alongside jazz artist Ledisi and Puerto Rican bandleader Gilberto Santa Rosa on Saturday. The school recognized them for their “profound influence as artists, educators, and activists.” For Q-Tip specifically, they mentioned “his forward-thinking artistic vision, which merges rap, jazz, and other styles with socially conscious lyrics, as well as for his impact as a producer, actor, educator, and cultural ambassador.” In turn, the legendary A Tribe Called Quest rapper spoke to the graduating class at their commencement ceremony.

“To choose this path [of the artist] is a courageous choice indeed. You are handed the task to be courageous in your personal lives, to find balance between intellect and instinct… to not let bad choices define you, but to refine you,” he said to the class of 2024. He added that accomplishments such as these serve as “precious mantras . . . to remind you that you are worthy, and that you can do it. You got this!”

Coi Leray really knows how to take advantage of lust, and what better way to do so than on a boat trip with your friends? Moreover, she posted a new thirst trap on her Instagram Story with some twerking clips, ocean views, and what seems like an overall good time riding waves. The Massachusetts rapper has a lot to look forward to for the rest of 2024, and it’s at least heartening to see her take some time to just have fun and not have to tie a promo single or partnership to it. Whether or not you like what you see, she certainly does, and she’s never indicated that she cares about anything other than her own satisfaction online.

However, as hinted at before, Coi Leray also knows well how to have her fun, show it off for the ‘Gram, and get some streams off of it, too. For example, she recently previewed the title track to her Mike WiLL Made-It-produced EP, Lemon Cars, with some pole dancing, which certainly caught people’s eyes. The release of COI last year suggested that maybe things would be more quiet on the release front for 2024, but that’s proving to be a miscalculation. Either way, there’s probably going to be even more in store considering this prolific run as of late.

Sadly, all these updates also coincided with some unfortunate family rifts concerning Coi Leray’s father, Benzino. “It’s unfortunate,” he said of their estranged relationship, which stemmed in large part from his controversial R. Kelly comments, on the We In Miami podcast. “But, you know, we don’t communicate too much. The whole thing is surreal to me… I’m a smart guy, but I can’t figure this one out… Coi is a young lady, she independent. This young generation, they don’t want their parents interfering with their lives, man.”

Moreover, the Atlanta rapper posted a video to her Instagram Story on Friday (May 10) of her on a private jet, and the caption gave a brief but possibly enlightening glimpse into her secret relationship. “He still sending jets for sum c**chie he been in for 4 yrs thats my boo daddy,” she wrote.

Furthermore, Latto has always been pretty upfront when it comes to her privacy, so we don’t really expect a relationship reveal anytime soon. In fact, she should probably keep it that way regardless of who this man is, since it’s much healthier and more humane to only focus on yourself and your partner in a relationship instead of dealing with the third eye of the Internet. But make no mistake: there are other areas in which the 25-year-old will have to march through social media as a battlefield. One is the realm of rap beef, which is allegedly still brewing with Ice Spice thanks to the Bronx MC’s latest single, “Gimme A Light.”

Latto’s Newest Mystery Man Post

That potential feud has been going on for a long time now, and with no real instances of direct mentions, confrontations, or callouts, it seems like it might stay in the rumor mill. Whether Latto and Ice Spice keep any alleged animosity on wax or take it publicly is anyone’s guess. But we know that the former isn’t always so secretive with her personal relationships. After all, she has a pretty wholesome public bond with her sister, Brooklyn Nicole.

Meanwhile, allegations of grooming due to her parents’ age gap are definitely a reason as to why Latto would want to keep family under wraps. It’s bad enough when people make assumptions about you online as a famous celebrity. Offset Samples R&B Classic In Incredible New Song Snippet

Offset has been quiet as of late. The Migos rapper dropped his second solo album, Set It Off, in 2023, but since then, he’s been relegated to the occasional guest verse. His relationship with Cardi B has taken up most of his media coverage. Even when he does get attention for something music-related, its not in a positive light. Offset recently pulled out of his scheduled performance at Hot 97 Summer Jam, and fans were not pleased. The rapper needs something to get back on track. And he might have just previewed it on Instagram.

Offset hopped on social media on May 10 to preview a new song. No discernable lyrics, or even a title, but the instrumental came through loud and clear. The rapper can be heard skating over a trap beat that samples the 1980s R&B classic “Love You Down.” The song, originally sung by Ready for the World, can be heard in its entirety during the beginning of Offset’s version. As the vocals reach a fever pitch, drums kick it and the sample gets filtered. It sounds great. Offset takes a melodic approach on this one, singing his rhymes instead of spitting them. It makes total sense, given the romantic subject matter of “Love You Down.”

Offset Reinterpreted The 1986 Single “Love You Down”

The snippet is a different sound for the rapper. His solo material has largely been an extension of Migos, with an emphasis on hard-hitting drums and glitchy hi-hats. Offset told Los Angeles Daily News that he looks to old school music as an inspiration when it comes to what he’s doing next. He cited another 80s icon, Michael Jackson, specifically. “I learned to appreciate the skill set that he put in, and the extra grind and the work and the practice,” he noted. “I see more for myself and creatively challenge myself to take it to the next level, even though I’m on a high level.”

There’s been little to no information on Offset’s next album. He mentioned it during a TMZ interview in December 2023, but even then, he provided a release date that came and went. “Next album dropping February,” he claimed. “[That’s an] exclusive, I only told y’all that.” Hopefully fans to get to hear the full version of this new song soon.
