Sexyy Red has been having a truly tremendous year in music. Overall, it all started with the song “Pound Town.” Furthermore, eventually, it went into the song “SkeeYee” and even “Hellcats SRTs.” These songs are all massive and they are making a huge splash in the clubs, cars, and even sporting events. We even crowned her as Hip-Hop’s MVP for 2023. The reason for this is quite simple. She has had the best year out of anyone in the entire genre. Which is an impressive feat considering the great year some artists have had.

Now that we are almost at the end of the year, numerous publications are putting out there songs and album lists. These lists are always highly-debated and it is rare that anyone comes to a consensus. However, Sexyy Red’s “SkeeYee” is a track that everyone can agree is a pure banger. With that said, it should come as very little surprise that a publication like Rolling Stone would give the song an honor. Just yesterday, they named the song as the best hip-hop track of the year. For some, this may be divisive. For others, it is the correct choice.

Sexyy Red Accepts The Crown

Subsequently, upon learning this news, Sexyy took to social media where she had a very simple message: “Okayyyy.” While many were trying to say that this is the downfall of hip-hop, others felt like this was a celebratory occasion. A relatively new artist got song of the year, and that should be celebrated. Quite frankly, Sexyy is proving that hip-hop is, indeed, in a good place. She is making fun music and she is unapologetically herself. That may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it is, in fact, resonating.

Andre 3000 In The Studio With Some Underground Rap Stars New And Old

Andre 3000 just released his new album New Blue Sun but he doesn’t appear to be done with new material yet. He’s apparently already working on new material and took part in an absolutely star-studded studio session in Los Angeles overnight. According to HipHopDX, he was spotted in some photos shared by former Organized Konfusion MC Pharoahe Monch. But the two veteran MCs are far from the only stars in attendance.

Elsewhere in the pictures fans spotted legendary Beastie Boy Mike D. Eagle-eyed fans also noticed that Detroit underground rap sensation Quelle Chris is also in attendance. The group have reportedly assembled to work with Keyon Harrold, a notorious jazz trumpeter with a pretty impressive roster of collaborations already under his belt. What exactly the nature of the project is and the level of everyone’s involvement is unclear. Check out the photos of Andre and various others in the studio below.

Andre 3000 Shares The Studio With Some Stars

Andre 3000’s new album divided fans and critics. The project boldly chose to depart from rap music entirely instead choosing to focus on ambient jazz with Andre prominently playing flute all over the album. Many fans were disappointed with the choice after waiting so long for him to return and expecting a rap album. In Andre’s defense he announced the project ahead of time and confirmed that it would have “no bars.” He’s also spoken at length in interviews about why he didn’t feel like it was the right time for him to make a new rap album.

Despite fan reservations, the album performed surprisingly well commercially. It sold 24K copies in its first week, far more than almost any other instrumental jazz albums. One of the songs from the record also spent a week on the Hot 100. He actually broke the record for longest song to ever chart on the Hot 100 with the track. The Spirit Of Giving

TDE(Top Dawg Entertainment) celebrated the holiday season by hosting its 10th annual Christmas concert and toy drive. Several artists from the West Coast label attended the event, including SZA, YG, ScHoolboy Q, and others.

Held in Watts, California, in the neighborhood of Nickerson Gardens on Dec. 20, TDE artists, including SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, Ab-Soul, Zacari, and more, served breathtaking performances. Not only did the artists entertain the audience, but they also participated in the festive spirit by taking pictures and connecting with fans. 

More Holiday Vibes

Notably, Compton rapper YG and Watts rapper Jay Rock also made appearances at the Christmas concert, further adding to the excitement for the fans. They interacted with the crowd, taking pictures and creating memorable moments for everyone involved.

Users on Twitter (X) reacted to TDE’s toy drive. One user named @Stephh_NV commented, “Finally saw Q and Zacari Iv’e seen almost everyone form TDE now,” and one other user named @ChuckDizzle commented “Nickerson Gardens, Thank you for the hospitality 10th Annual TDE Christmas Concert.” 

TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith was seen actively connecting with the people and artists during the event, highlighting the label’s dedication to fostering a strong bond with the community. The festivities didn’t end there, as the toy drive continued in Compton on December 21, featuring a job fair, free barber services, and the distribution of numerous gifts to children.

Cardi B – ‘Toys for Tots’

Cardi B was spotted at a toy drive in New York on Dec. 19. The Bronx rapper attended the Toys For Tots event where she donated toys and other gifts to needy families, spreading the holiday spirit. 

The Bronx native also took pictures with the families she was donating to, receiving praise from fans on social media for being a great role model and bringing joy to the children during the festive season. Users on Twitter (X) reacted to Cardi’s generous acts. 

One user named @CardiBCaviar commented, “WE NEED MORE GREAT ROLE MODELS LIKE CARDI B ! THANK YOU CARDI,” while one other named @troublewoman215 commented, “Our mother is out here spreading the holiday spirit-I hope all the children are happy.”

Latto – Christmas In Clayco

At her third annual Christmas In Clayco event on Saturday, Dec. 16, Latto demonstrated her commitment to philanthropy by doubling her contributions, donating over $500,000 in gifts from various brands she collaborates with. The Atlanta-based rapper partnered with brands such as UGG, Savage x Fenty, Apple, Wingstop, and more to provide gifts for those in need, doubling her contribution from the previous year.

The event, presented by her Win Some Give Some foundation, aims to support at-risk youth by providing resources and self-esteem support for equal opportunity and success. This gesture comes just days before Latto Day on Dec.18, following the proclamation of the first official Latto Day in Clayco County. District 1 Commissioner Dr. Alieka Anderson shared in a statement:

“We are ecstatic to bring back Christmas in Clayton for the third time. This event allows us to give back to Clayton County residents and children just in time for the holidays. Words cannot express how amazing it is to have Latto return to Clayton County to help spread some holiday cheer throughout our community. Her generosity is sincerely appreciated for our children and our community.”

REFORM Alliance Partners With The Brooklyn Nets

In addition to individual efforts, REFORM Alliance, alongside TV personality Lala Anthony, rappers Cordae, Meek Mill, and others, will partner with the Brooklyn Nets to host women affected by the justice system and their children at an NBA game. 

The event will occur on Dec. 22 during the Brooklyn Nets vs. Denver Nuggets matchup, where the women and their families will be honored with in-game presentations. The event will aim to unite and uplift families deeply impacted by the criminal justice system, featuring exclusive pre-game activities, opening remarks from the hosts, merchandise giveaways, and a special visit to center court.

Kendrick Lamar For The Kids

Kendrick Lamar, known for his philanthropy and commitment to his hometown of Compton, hosted a community event in Compton, CA. Held at Enterprise Park on Dec. 17, the annual holiday event aimed to uplift the spirits of the local community, particularly the children who face various challenges. 

The “HUMBLE” rapper, along with Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine and rapper Jay Worthy, provided toys and gifts to ensure that every child in Compton had a special holiday season. Supporters on Instagram took to the comment section to show gratitude towards the rapper. 

One user (@_.famousstay) stated, “I really share a birthday w a walking goat. It’s hard cause every song he makes resonates W me so bad.” Another user (@dr_dickeyel_2017) stated: You are awesome. You really care for your people and community. A real standup guy and GOAT.”

Cassie’s Friend Recalls Diddy’s Alleged Abuse In New Interview

Last month, Diddy’s ex Cassie filed a bombshell lawsuit against the Bad Boy Records founder, accusing him of rape, physical abuse, and more. The two of them settled shortly after she filed, but her allegations still managed to spark a great deal of discourse, particularly as more alleged victims come forward. Since Cassie filed, Diddy has been hit with four additional lawsuits from women who accuse him of sexual assault.

Amid all of this, Cassie’s friend and collaborator Tiffany Red has come forward, sharing her account of witnessing Diddy’s alleged abuse in an interview with NBC News. According to her, she saw Diddy corner Cassie at her 29th birthday party, where he proceeded to “[cuss] her out with his hand in her face.” She says that things escalated later that night when she was staying the night at Cassie’s home.

Tiffany Red Speaks Out Against Diddy

Tiffany Red recalls waking up to the sound of Cassie screaming and heading downstairs to see what the commotion was. She claims that she walked into the living room to find Cassie “sedated,” and Diddy proceeded to make some disturbing remarks. “Tell your girl she wants some birthday d*ck,” she says Diddy told her, upset that Cassie wasn’t interested in sleeping with him. She remembers advocating for her friend, reminding him that she didn’t have to do anything she didn’t want to.

The songwriter explained that a few months ago, Cassie revealed what was actually taking place that night, which shocked her. According to her, Diddy wanted Cassie to participate in a “freak off,” which allegedly included him hiring sex workers to sleep with her while he watched. “She told me the only time he was willing to work on her music or go through any plans, any of that, was when she had a freak off,” Tiffany Red says. “To find out that like, I spent all these years writing these songs for him to rape my friend to? Travis Scott’s Drink Explodes After Being Hit By Loose Ball At Knicks-Nets: Watch

For the second time this week, things are hitting Travis Scott. While courtside at Knicks-Nets, a loose ball collided with Scott, causing his seltzer to go everywhere. As stadium workers rushed up to clean up the spillage, play-by-play announcer Ian Eagle called Scott’s drink explosion a “geyser”. However, Scott took the whole thing in stride and calmly cracked open a new can while bemusedly watching the replay on the jumbotron.

However, as mentioned, it’s the second time this week something like this has happened. Scott was hit in the back of the head by one of his stage props while performing at a concert this week. Luckily, he was able to regain his balance and simply move to another part of the stage, as opposed to being knocked off the stage entirely. Hopefully, Scott can get through Christmas without any more disasters.

Travis Scott Rolling Loud Sneakers Up For Auction

Meanwhile, a pair of custom Cactus Jack Air Jordans that Scott gave to a fan at Rolling Loud Germany has been put up for auction. Scott gifted the Egyptian fan the shoes after bringing the man up on stage. It was one of several impromptu clothing giveaways Scott did in his pre-Utopia festival circuit. The shoes are being sold through Goldin’s and are expected to go for around $10,000. “In an iconic moment in pop culture history, we’re excited to see these sneakers hit the auction block. As a sneakerhead myself, it’s great to offer a rare opportunity for other collectors to own a custom pair of Air Jordans” auction owner Ken Goldin told TMZ.

As mentioned, it wasn’t the first time that Scott gave away his shoes over the summer. Earlier in July, at Longitude Festival in Dublin, Scott got up close and personal with the throbbing mass of fans at the barricade. Picking out one fan in particular, Scott began to rap back and forth with the fan, who eagerly responded. The back-and-forth continued, with Scott getting more and more hyped up about the interaction. When the verse ended, Scott pulled off his shirt, an unreleased Utopia merch item, as well as his Air Jordans. Fighting back the sea of grabbing hands, Scott handed the items to the fan he had rapped with.

Kanye West To Build His Own City, ‘YZY DROAM’ In the Middle East

Kanye West is making headlines once again. Known for his creative endeavors beyond music, the Chicago rapper is reportedly building his very own city in the Middle East. 

‘YZY DROAM’

Dubbed YZY DROAM, this ambitious project aims to create a self-sufficient city spanning approximately 100,000 acres. 

The plans for YZY DROAM were unveiled through a website seeking job applicants for project managers, engineers, architects, and contractors. With a graphic boldly proclaiming:

“YZY DROAM PHASE 1 100,000 ACRE V1 CITY PILOTING IN MIDDLE EAST RECRUITING.” 

Ye’s vision for the city becomes evident. The intended size of the city is striking, being roughly four times the size of Paris and more than half the size of New York City. The rapper-turned-entrepreneur’s venture into city-building is not entirely unprecedented. 

‘YZY CITY’

In 2020, the artist had plans to construct his city in Wyoming, called “YZY CITY.” This “hyper-utilitarian” underground community aimed to foster self-sustainable living for 200 people. However, his plans for YZY CITY faced roadblocks and were ultimately shut down by the state. 

Users on Twitter (X)  expressed their eagerness to be part of the project. One user named @J_Rocca commented, “I will build for you, Ye,” while another user named @sundrrr_ asked, “Where can I send my CV, brother Ye?” 

Though the exact location of YZY DROAM remains unconfirmed, the news has already generated excitement among fans and aspiring contributors. Kanye West also had plans to make his own ecosystem after he was cut from the luxury French designer brand Balenciaga in October 2022. 

The plan was for Ye to have his self-sustained community and call it the “Yecosystem.” 

‘Vultures’

In addition to his city-building endeavors, Kanye West has been making waves in the music industry. He is set to release the joint album titled Vultures with star singer Ty Dolla $ign on Dec. 31.

Originally slated for release on Dec. 15, the album features collaborations with artists such as Lil Durk, Freddie Gibbs, Quavo, Offset, Charlie Wilson, and others.

‘Akon City’

Kanye West is not the only artist with ambitions to create their own city. Back in 2021, rapper and singer Akon announced plans to build “Akon City” in Uganda. This city, estimated to cost $6 billion, showcases the desire of artists to leave a lasting impact beyond their creative works.

Fif frequently takes aim at the Bad Boy Records founder on social media, calling his sexuality into question and trolling him over his allegations.

Earlier this week, 50 Cent posted an old clip of Method Man speaking about Kanye West. In the clip, the New York native states that he hates Ye, even alleging that he once saw him at one of Diddy’s parties “sucking d*ck in the bathroom.” The insinuation didn’t come as much of a surprise, as 50 Cent often references Diddy’s infamous parties. He also frequently emphasizes the questionable things that allegedly happen at them.

Method Man Responds To Unearthed Footage

“This has not been confirmed,” he captioned the post. “But ya see why I stayed away from the man’s party’s WTF @bransoncognac @lecheminduroi.” The unearthed footage managed to capture Method Man’s attention, and the Wu-Tang Clan performer shared his take in the comments section. He claimed that the clip had been edited, also urging fans to view the full video on YouTube. According to him, he wants no part in 50 Cent and Diddy’s beef, and supporters can’t blame him.

“This video fake 5.. you and Diddy keep me out of this sh*t,” he wrote, also including a series of laughing emojis. “The real vid is on YouTube .. Travis Scott & Quavo Cooked Up One Of Their Best Collabs With “Moon Rock”

Back in 2017, Travis Scott and Quavo felt like unstoppable entities in the hip-hop world. Overall, they still very much are. However, the Migos hype in 2017 was palpable, while Scott was on the cusp of becoming a mega star. They had already worked together before, but they decided to team up for a fully-fledged collaborative album. These collab tapes were becoming extremely popular, and it made sense for these two to link up. The album was called Huncho Jack Jack Huncho, and it was a relative success.

Ultimately, this is one of those albums that did not have the desired effect. Instead, it was seen as just another collab tape by two titans on autopilot. However, there were still some solid tracks here. It is by no means either of these artist’s best work. But that is not to say that it doesn’t deserve closer inspection. For instance, the song “Moon Rock” is one that is particularly memorable. With some of the best production on the entire tape, this feels like the perfect song to highlight on the album’s 6-year anniversary.

Travis Scott & Quavo Are “Huncho Jack”

The melody that builds on this song feels extremely dark. There is something really sinister about it and those crescendoing 808s really make this song pop. As for Travis and Quavo, they pull off some solid performances that are drenched in autotune. Lyrically, they aren’t exactly doing any heavy lifting. However, the vibes are there and that is what you want from these two.
