I just started makin’ music, with the purpose of inspiration, and then, like you said, I just start realizing, “You know what? This can be bigger than what I’m makin’ it. I can make this bigger.” And I think — I try to think big, so I’m always like… the influence of Michael Jackson, that’s what we need, you know? [laughs] You know how big he was? This message deserves that type of impact on the world.

While speaking to Good Morning America, Gomez said she hasn’t used the Internet and she is much happier as a result.

“I think it’s just become really unhealthy,” Gomez said previously on Live With Kelly & Ryan in 2019. “To spend time fixating on all these comments and letting this stuff in, it was affecting me. It would make me depressed. It would make me feel not good about myself, and look at my body differently.”
The actress has been very vocal about her struggles with her mental health and bipolar disorder, the Internet is just one step she’s taking to ensure she is on her road to happier living. Could you live without the internet?
Last week Chris Rock’s brother Tony Rock came to Chris’s defense after he was slapped by Will Smith at the Academy Awards for disrespecting Jada Pinkett-Smith.
After watching the world go through a phase of ‘protect the black woman’ it was interesting to see the response after a man well…protected his black woman. The feelings and history behind black hair is way deeper than poor comedic jokes. From alopecia to being told our hair is ‘bad’— black women have endured years of embarrassment at the expense of a few laughs. From being called nappy-headed, bald-headed and worse, it’s expected that men with black moms, aunts and relatives understand the pain behind black hair. Acceptance, convenience, time-management and lack of hair knowledge have all contributed to black women’s hair journey. While it can be as personal to many as personal hygiene, it’s always baffling when men speak on issues that pertain to women.
Tony Rock tweeted that everyone should watch his brother’s movie ‘Good Hair’ to prove Chris has nothing against ‘women of color’. This quickly turned bad when he was reminded how badly Chris portrayed Black women in ‘Good Hair’ a movie he allegedly stole from another Black woman. From explaining to White America how and why Michelle Obama wears weaves to turning his nose up at women who relax their hair Chris Rock’s disdain for black women’s hair choices were inevitable. His film Good Hair was supposed to teach others about our hair journey. Reminiscent of the kid that goes to school and tells all his family’s business. While celebrities supported the film and women in the film laughed nervously—most black women cringed through his movie. From questioning a child about her perm to trying to sell black hair no one wanted, it was just another slap in the face to the women we are supposed to protect. While Chris Rock’s own relationships have seemed to fail in spite of him choosing women with awesome hair choices, the question remains…is it a man’s business to discuss what a woman does with her hair? Watch these clips below and Twitter’s response.
Karlae carries the title of YSL First Lady title high with her latest release “Did That.”
The track samples Mase’s hit song, “Feel So Good,” taken from Kool & The Gang’s “Hollywood Swinging.” As one of the heirs of Bad Boy Records, King Combs even makes a cameo in the video as well.
Karlae is fresh off the heels of last month’s release, “Blind.” The Lil Yachty assisted single displays Karlae’s versatility as she sings the hook and raps over Murda Inc sampled “Down 4 U.”
The video shows Karlae as a school girl, while Yachty plays her classmate and love interest.
The ATL-based artist first stepped onto the scene with a cameo on the YSL compilation, Slime Language. It was followed by the Young Thug and Gunna assisted single, “Jimmy Choo.” Last year the label released its sequel to the compilation, Slime Language 2, where Karlae shined on both “I Like” with Coi Leray and “Trance” with Yung Bleu.
Karlae’s previous works puts the momentum in her favor for what’s to come on her forthcoming EP, Enter.
Nicki Minaj is without a doubt one of the best female hip-hop artists in the industry, but after a bizarre tweet in which she crossed out the names of other major female artists mentioned in an article praising her, fans are wondering if she might also be one of the most selfish.
The tweet stemmed from a lengthy feature op-ed written by Joshua Robinson at HotNewHipHop in which he described Minaj’s rise to success as well as detailed what about her sound sets her a step above most other female artists. However, Robinson also paid compliments to other current female hip-hop artists, writing: “Nicki Minaj’s presence — be it aural, digital, or visual — is absolutely enthralling, and when she’s on hiatus, you can tell. Despite the welcomed contributions of women like Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, City Girls, and Doja Cat over the past few years, female rap still feels incomplete without Nicki Minaj’s presence and output, and that alone illustrates how important she is to Hip-Hop, as a genre, and as a culture.”
Minaj appeared to be pleased with the piece, but not with sharing the spotlight, sharing a screenshot of the article with the other artists’ names crossed out.
While her issues with Cardi B have been public for many years, she hasn’t appeared to have many issues with the other rappers. Naturally, social media had a lot to say about the commentary with some stating that Minaj was right in keeping the spotlight on herself while other say that she could have simply cut the screenshot off above the names of the other female artists.
None of the artists have made any public comment yet.
