Iconic rap group Salt-N-Pepa take fans behind the scenes of the official music video for “Shoop,” in the latest installment of Vevo Footnotes. The exclusive content is part of Vevo’s celebration to honor the historic 50th Anniversary of Hip-Hop.
During the episode, Pepa delves into the story behind the song and her verse, as well as the challenges the group faced in convincing their label to release “Shoop” as the lead single from their album ‘Very Necessary.’ She also recounts the excitement they felt when the song became a massive hit and solidified the group’s position in hip-hop. Meanwhile, Salt discusses how the song helped her to step away from her boyfriend and manager, Hurby [Luv Bug] and how “Shoop” empowered not only her but other women. On this day in 1997, Brooklyn native and Hip Hop legend Christopher Wallace, a.k.a. The Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie Smalls, was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in LA. 26 years ago
Wallace left Puff Daddy’s Vibe Magazine party in a GMC SuburbanS.U.V.V that stopped at a red light at Wilshire Boulevard and South Fairfax. While stopped a Chevrolet ImpalaS.S.S pulled up beside him and his entourage. According to witnesses, a black male dressed in a blue suit and bow tie rolled down his window and shot Biggie four times and he was pronounced dead at 1:15 a.m. at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
After years of investigations and conspiracy theories as to who killed Biggie and why, no one has been brought to justice to answer for Wallace’s death. Former LAPD Detective Russell Poole fought vigorously, even sometimes against his own peers, to get to the bottom of his untimely death. Poole died from a heart attack on August 19, 2015 while discussing the Tupac Shakur and Wallace cases at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The legacy B.I.G.. left behind is officially embedded in Hip Hop culture two decades later and will continue to influence the community as his family and friends share his story.
Jadakiss is getting back to the raps. Hopping on social media, Kiss and DJ Greg Street from V103 Atlanta announced the Kiss The South mixtape.
“Kiss The South, man. Jadakiss, Greg Street, I’mma come to the A, and I’ma stay here until we complete the joint,” Jadakiss said. “He know when it’s complete so I can’t leave until he say we got enough, Kiss, you good, let’s mix it, that’s what we gon’ do.”

Jada said that the laugh was initially how he used to clear his throat in the booth before spitting out his verse. “My engineer, I think he’s from Croatia. Ruff Ryders introduced us to him, and he worked with us for years.” He added, “I was recording some verses, and my voice is so raspy sometimes, I’m clogged up, I would do that as a tension breaker to clear my throat and my voice before I’m about to do the verse.”
The MVP of The L.O.X. vs. Dipset battle said that the laugh was only supposed to be a one-time thing, and he never intended to keep it, but the engineer insisted that it sounded dope and just stuck. “So I do it, I get out to come hear the verse and he kept it! Latavia “Tay”McGee, a mother of six, traveled with three other U.S.citizens to Matamoros for a tummy tuck procedure and was kidnapped after an attack by multiple gunmen. On Tuesday, Mexican and U.S. officials said two of the four U.S. citizens were found dead and two are alive.
Mexico’s security secretary identified the surviving Americans as Latavia “Tay” McGee and Eric James Williams. The other two Americans were identified as Zindell Brown and Shaeed Woodard.
Barbara Burgess, 54, confirmed to ABC15 News that her daughter spoke to her from a Brownsville, Texas hospital.
“She’s alive. I talked to her. I talked to her. The nurse at the hospital called and let me talk to her,” said Burgess.
“She was crying. I asked her how she was doing. She doing okay. She was crying because her brother got killed and she watched him die. She watched two of them die. They died in front of her.”
McGee and Eric James Williams survived their 4-day ordeal after they were kidnapped at gunpoint by cartel members in Matamoros, Mexico on March 3.
They were rescued from a stash house around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. McGee, 33, was unharmed, but Williams was shot in the left leg.
McGee’s cousin Shaeed Woodard, 33, and Zindell Brown, 28, were found dead in a field nearby. Burgess thanked the public for their prayers and support.
“I appreciated their prayers. I thank them for praying because that’s what I had needed. Prayer, it will change things. It works out. And prayer, you believe in it and it’ll work. It did it for me. Because I was praying for my daughter. And I know she was coming home. I knew it. I didn’t know when and what time. But, I knew she was coming.”
The shootouts in Matamoros were allegedly so bad that the U.S. Consulate issued an alert about the danger Friday.

In Chris Rock’s new Netflix special, Selective Outrage, the comedian brazenly compared the late King of Pop to convicted R&B singer R Kelly. He joked that they committed the “same crime”, but only one was subject to outrage.
Michael Jackson’s nephew, Taj Jackson called Rock a bully for his extremely false joke.
Taj took to Twitter to call Chris Rock a “bully” and thanked Will Smith for slapping him at the 2022 Oscars.

Singer Chilli from TLC, 51, and actor Matthew Lawrence, 42, sparked dating rumors after they were spotted holding hands on the beach in Hawaii. Although Chilli denied they were a couple, soon after they became Instagram official after she took him home to meet her family for the holidays..

Actor/Comedian Mike Epps could be facing serious legal trouble. Authorities in his home state say they found a loaded gun in one of his bags at Indianapolis International Airport.

The docs say the comedian mentioned being in town for a show, and forgot the piece was in his bag. Upon investigation, police say they found a .38 Special Airweight with 4 rounds loaded, but none in the chamber.

Marriage isn’t for everybody. Yung Miami shared on Instagram Live that she takes everything personally as a part of the reason why marriage isn’t for her.

Boosie Badazz is on all of the podcasts. He is most notably seen on Vlad TV for what seems to be a residency. Turns out Boosie has a very good reason. Every time he is on a podcast, he pockets $40,000, and he says it is a way safer decision than hosting at the club.
Hopping on a live stream, Boosie revealed why he is so quick to be on a podcast.
“$30-40,000 to sit on a couch and talk? That’s way safer than that club with all them guns in that bitch,” Boosie said. “I’m in front of somebody who ain’t gon’ hurt me. I think y’all should be happy I’m doing podcasts. I’mma live long doing podcasts. Way less dangerous than doing podcasts.”
He added, “Would you rather do a show for 60 or podcast for 45? I made that decision the other day. I took the 45 over the 60.”

In one of his most recent podcast appearances, Boosie revealed he once was planning a joint album with T.I., but is now nixing that, blasting The King of the South over a past case.
In a 2020 episode of his expediTIously podcast, self-proclaimed King Of The South T.I. admitted to snitching on a dead family member in order to get out of an illegal gun case.
T.I.’s cousin, Toot, was killed before the two could go to trial for a gun case caught in the early 2000s near ATL’s Lenox Mall, but Tip says Toot’s beyond-the-grave blessing made it ok to use his cousin and production collaborator a posthumous scapegoat.
“We caught those gun cases, Toot died. My lawyer said, ‘Well, you know, I could make everything go away if it was Toot’s, it was Tremel’s,’” he said. “After he had passed, I had a talk with him. Toot said, ‘I’ll take all the charges you got! If you can walk away free and put it on me, goddamn right! ‘Cause I’ll be damned if they gon’ come and muthafucking extradite me from here!’”
Returning to his online residency on VLAD TV, Boosie reflected on the moment and aired him out.
“With the T.I. situation, if he did that – you a fucking rat too,” Boosie said. “I don’t spare no muthafuckin’ body. According to a report from the Associated Press, a second woman has died from her injuries following a deadly stampede at the GloRilla/Finesse2Tymes concert in Rochchester, New York this past Sunday.
The melee began at the Main Street Armory shortly following the performances of GloRilla and Finesse2Tymes after it was falsely reported that one of the attendees of the concert had a gun, which led concert goers to made a mad dash for the exit.
“We do not have any evidence of gunshots being fired or of anyone being shot or stabbed at the scene,” Police Chief David M. Smith said during a press conference on Monday.
Three people were rushed to the hospital in critical condition, including 33-year-old Rhondesia Belton, a Buffalo Traffic Violations Agency employee, who died at a local hospital. On Monday(March 6), a second woman, 35 years old, died from her injuries. One woman remains in critical condition while seven other people were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
