Childish Gambino has fans feeling as free as he seems on his brand-new single “Lithonia”. The veteran multi-talent just released the lead-off track for Bando Stone & The New World moments ago and it is already receiving heaps of praise. Honestly, it is well deserved, as the song beautifully produced and evokes a lot of emotion. Massive credit goes to Gambino, but also the additional producers who were brought on. They include Ludwig Göransson, Max Martin, and Michael Uzowuru, and the instrumentation perfectly matches the tone of the song. From the grand organ in the beginning to the rockin’ guitar licks, it embodies the feeling you get when you release all the stress off your mind.

It seems like that will be a heavy focus thematically speaking for Gambino on his presumed final album. Donald Glover has stated already that this is essentially the sendoff for his onstage moniker. Additionally, Bando Stone & The New World is going to be the accompanying soundtrack for his film of the same name. He is going to be wearing a lot of different hats, as he is directing, acting, and of course composing. While we now know the release date for the project, July 19, we are all still in the dark about when the movie will land in theaters. Gambino did premiere the trailer just yesterday and it will be about a former musician stranded on an island in an apocalyptic world.

Moreover, the Detroit affair is an absolute lyrical onslaughts, with rapid bars landing over an eerie, dramatic, and percussively minimal instrumental. Fans seem pretty impressed from what early online reactions suggest, pointing out some of their favorite bars and remarking on all MCs’ lyrical capabilities. It seems like we’ll be saying goodbye to the iconic alter-ego, but die-hards are confident that this will be a fitting, fulfilling, and bombastic conclusion to his story.

That is the exact sentiment us and a lot of fans are sharing right now pertaining to a viral photo of Busta Rhymes suggesting some serious weight gain. A X user (formerly Twitter) by the name of dirtywhiteups shared an alleged accurate side-by-side comparison of the legendary rapper just 20 days apart. To the left you can see a slimmer Busta in a white polo. Then, on the right, it shows the Brooklyn spitter donning a baby blue turtleneck sweater with a noticeable gut. In the caption, dirtywhiteups writes, “These two photos of Busta Rhymes are 20 days apart. Ozempic: 0 Oxtail: 1”.

Right now, fans are pretty much split in half as to whether or not this image is real. Some are in utter shock, while others feel the image on the right is from a few years ago or so. A few were also joking around saying that it is “probably gas”. If you head over to Busta Rhymes’ Instagram, he has some posts from just over a week ago. In them, he does not look nearly the same as this alleged recent photo.

The WNBA continues to receive more eyeballs on its product this season. When you have a global star like Caitlin Clark, it becomes a lot easier to market your brand. Lil Durk is starting to catch on to what the league is building, as he pulled up to support his hometown Chicago Sky (6-9). Last night, Angel Reese and her crew took down the Indiana Fever (7-11) in perhaps the most exciting game of the season. After falling behind by 15 near the end of the third quarter, the Sky chipped away at the deficit. They eventually went up four with 27.8 seconds remaining to hold on, 88-87.

Angel Reese was a big part of their success, notching 25 points, 16 rebounds, on an efficient 8-12 shooting night. Lil Durk might have been a catalyst as well, as he performed at halftime. Vic Mensa and G Herbo were also in attendance, as part of a Juneteenth celebration promotion. After picking up the massive W, Smurk joined the team in the locker room to show them love, according to AllHipHop. “We locked in now. Y’all had a good game today and I’m gonna be at more of the games supporting y’all”, Durk said. This energy from the Chicago native is nothing new, as he originally welcomed Reese and Kamilla Cardoso to the squad.

However, many online were quick to retort with the loss of Nipsey Hussle years ago and plenty of other examples of violent escalations and situations when it comes to rappers out in public. All in all, the common Internet sentiment reflects an understanding that this is nothing special or condemnable, and that haters are missing the point.

On the former point, arguably the less impactful of the two, there was one particular attendee in the stands that caught many fans’ attention… to be more specific, multiple concert-goers. K.Dot’s partner Whitney Alford was there to watch the whole thing go down, seemingly with their children together as well. Given all the things that the Toronto superstar said about their relationship, a lot of fans now think that his words don’t ring as true as he or anyone else thought.

Moreover, if you forgot, Drake claimed that Kendrick Lamar is actively cheating on Whitney Alford, physically abused her, and that he barely sees his kids after moving to a Brooklyn apartment. Of course, the Compton lyricist already spoke on the strain of his bond with Whitney on Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, so chastising an imperfect relationship didn’t become that surprising or notable. What did shock listeners was Drizzy’s claim that one of their children is actually Dave Free’s, who is a close collaborator and business partner of Kendrick’s. To be fair, OVO Stans also jumped to conclusions much in the same way that pgLang affiliates are now when Whitney’s IG account was silent on Father’s Day. No party has responded to the Toronto superstar’s allegations.

Dave Free produced the show, and his inclusion at the very top of that credits list meant for many Mr. Morale fans that he was actively combating Drake’s narrative of division or tension between them.

Meanwhile, fans speculated quickly on what Drake’s thoughts on all of this are, and reached some interesting conclusions.
