Judge In PnB Rock’s Murder Case Deems Alleged Teen Shooter Not Fit To Stand Trial

On July 23, 2024, the murder trial for the late PnB Rock began. The Philadelphia artist was fatally shot at a Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles in South Los Angeles, California on September 12, 2022. The belief is the killer is a 17-year-old male and that he was instructed by his father, Freddie Trone. According to previous news reports, Freddie was also the getaway driver and a fugitive at the time of the crime. Additionally, the alleged teenage murderer was recently done serving jail time. Finally, Shauntel Trone, Freddie’s 38-year-old wife, was also an arrested suspect. But it seems her involvement is still up in the air.

The initial statements were given by Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, Timothy Richardson, to a jury four women and eight men. Later, Mr. Trone’s lawyer, Winston McKesson, said there isn’t enough evidence to support his client’s involvement in the murder. Now that several hours have gone by, there is another major development in this trial. According to XXL, Rolling Stone discovered that the judge came to the conclusion that the alleged teen gunman is not fit to stand trial.

The juvenile court judge cited the reason for this decision stems from the lack of mental capacity to follow a criminal proceeding. Another detail revealed in this court update is that PnB Rock was shot three times. Once in his chest and then twice in his back. This has fans of the artist completely floored and pissed off. “Everybody special ed when they gotta face a judge huh?”, one IG user writes. “But he had the mental capacity to watch PnB girlfriend ig story, figure out which waffle house he was dining at, picking up a gun, driving to the location and shooting PnB? If you follow Lupe Fiasco closely, you know that he tends to have some bold takes about Kendrick Lamar. The Chicago MC’s views waver on the Compton artist’s rapping abilities and musical output as a whole and they have been for some time. Fans have seen him label himself as a better writer than Kendrick (which is arguable), Logic, and most recently Drake during the heat of the beef. Because of this, people on the internet continuously reaffirm that the Samurai creator is a hater, and he has to disprove those claims time and time again. That was the case once again after Lupe hosted a Twitter Spaces event that eventually led some Kendrick fans to press him about where he stands.

Things seemed to escalate to this point following a debate around who can gatekeep in hip-hop. Uproxx was able to copy Lupe’s words, so here are some key points. “If you want to start who is in and who is out, a process which I don’t agree with, and I think is bulls***, if you want to do that you should have a degree… If you ain’t got that, then I don’t think that you are qualified… Just because you can rap, and you’ve sold a bunch of records… It should be stewarded by people who know what the f*** they are talking about very deeply and can write a book about it”.

According to the Toronto Star, a severe rainfall advisory issued on Sunday (July 14) wrapped up late Monday and into Tuesday. It affected Toronto as well as the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and it was a near record-breaking amount of rain. Almost four inches marks the fifth wettest day and it led to road and highway closures and many power outages. In fact, around 167,000 customers of a local Toronto electrical company were without basic amenities, according to CNN. About three TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) subway stations were also dealing with floods, and it seems they were a key culprit in transferring a lot of water nearby. Even Drake’s Toronto palace, aka “The Embassy”, was not safe either from the torrential downpour.

The Boy posted a short video to his Instagram story yesterday of frankly nasty looking yellow water rushing into his home. Other images show that the flood was affecting his basement, which is where he has his hall of jerseys. Even though this clearly a stressful situation, Drake was trying to make light of it. “This better be espresso martini”, the Canadian rapper wrote on his Story.
