DJ Akademiks Claims Drake Tried To Mediate SZA Beef

During a recent conversation with DJ Vlad, DJ Akademiks recalled Drake calling him in the midst of his beef with SZA. “It was a very polite call. But, you know, they are very close friends and they were doing the album at the time. He wanted to see if there was any middle ground that could be reached. But I just told that it was an axe I needed to grind from a couple years back. I just needed to pop off, I got no issue with her. I love her and I actually went back on my platform and I said that listen, I was sending nothing but love and light,” Akademiks explained.

SZA has been targeted a couple of times by the outspoken DJ, most recently in August of this year. Ak received heavy backlash after fat-shaming SZA on his massive social platform. “Let me keep it a bean, SZA is as fat as me. That’s 100 percent facts. This is why when b-tches call me fat, I be laughing. You wh-res are fat, just like me. […] You suck that fat out of [your chin] and put it into your a– and your a– be looking lopsided. Your belly button be looking weird because they move that b-tch around, it’s like tic-tac-toe,” Ak said in the heavily-criticized rant.

Akademiks Questions Drake’s Jewish Identity

Furthermore, while Drake tried to play peacemaker on this occasion, he has also often been a target of Ak’s ire. In recent months, Drizzy had his Jewish identity questioned over his silence on the Israel-Palestine conflict. “I do think when it comes to Drake and Khaled, it’s probably a concerted effort of not trying to isolate people. It’s like, ‘If I say something, what will it even matter?’” Ak reasoned. However, he went in harder on Drake, especially in regards to Drake’s Jewish heritage. “I think he’s gone away from trying to be the, ‘Hey, this is the Jewish rapper,’” he theorized.

Drake did eventually break his silence on the conflict, signing a widely-circulated letter calling for a ceasefire. “We urge your administration, Congress, and all world leaders, to honor all of the lives in the Holy Land and call for and facilitate a ceasefire without delay. An end to the bombing of Gaza, and the safe release of hostages. Half of Gaza’s two million residents are children, and more than two-thirds are refugees and their descendants being forced to flee their homes. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to reach them,” the letter that Drake signed read in part.

DJ Akademiks Says Nicki Minaj Has “Masculine Energy”

DJ Akademiks discussed Nicki Minaj and her romantic relationships during a recent sit-down with VladTV. In doing so, he theorized that Minaj has a “masculine energy” in her love life and is the “alpha” in her relationships.

The conversation began with DJ Vlad discussing Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty. “There are few women who are so alpha, in a sense, in how they’re in a relationship– I mean, she’s regarded as ‘The Queen’ by her fans,” Akademiks said. “You think she wanna hear a guy who’s not in the music industry tell her shit? You think she wanna go submit to a dude?”

From there, Vlad told a story he heard about Nicki “violating” her former partner, Safaree Samuels, for speaking up during an interview. “I think that’s her typical relationship,” Akademiks responded. “The same type of leverage most men feel in a relationship when you’re the rapper who gets an Instagram model who don’t got no money, so it’s like ‘your way goes.’ She has a lot of that energy in a lot of her life. She has that almost kind of masculine energy.” Check out Akademiks’ full comments on Minaj’s relationship with Kenneth Petty below.

DJ Akademiks Discusses Nicki Minaj

It’s not the first time Akademiks and Vlad have discussed Minaj. During a previous interview, Akademiks spoke about Minaj’s passionate fanbase. “You know why Nicki’s good? I wanna say great… her audience, and she has the best audience in Hip Hop,” he said back in September. “Them Barbz, they will never believe anything—and Nicki does a good job of not making it apparent. You ‘heard’ it, you didn’t ‘see’ it. So, like, when you say it, her audience is gonna take it as, ‘Oh, you’re just hating on Nicki’. [Minaj’s] fanbase is so solid…if she’s not the victim, no one believes it.”

DJ Vlad Says No Violence Has Occurred To Keefe D In Jail

There’s a midst of swirling rumors surrounding the incarceration of Keefe D. The rumors stem from his alleged involvement in the murder of Tupac Shakur. One particular rumor ignited a firestorm on social media. Claims that Keefe D had been beaten up and stabbed in jail. However, TMZ exclusively reported that DJ Vlad was quick to dispel these allegations. Via a post on X, DJ Vlad took to social media to address the issue head-on. He began by stating, “There’s a rumor going around that Keefe D got beat up and stabbed in jail. I looked into it, and it doesn’t appear to be true.”

However, in response to DJ Vlad’s post, an X user offered their perspective on the situation. According to this individual, one of the rumors circulating suggested that Keefe D had been involved in two fights while incarcerated. “Allegedly, he was in 2 fights, one with a hoover and the other a crip according to some YouTuber,” the person said. Moreover, in reply to this, DJ Vlad made it clear that he had delved deeper into the matter, confirming his sources. “I’ve now talked to multiple people close to the situation, and they all said nothing has happened to him,” Vlad said.

Keefe D Did Not Get Beaten Up

Furthermore, the rumors surrounding Keefe D’s alleged assault had spread like wildfire across social media. This caused considerable concern and speculation among fans and followers. DJ Vlad’s intervention offered a ray of clarity and assurance to those who had been following the story closely. His extensive contacts and reliable sources within the hip-hop community seemed to validate his denial of any such incident involving Keefe D.

As people may recall It’s understandable why rumors circulated that he was beat up in jail. In fact, just earlier this month a video clip circulated where he admitted he was afraid of jail for his comments on the murder of 2Pac. Apparently however, he has spoken openly about killing 2pac in previous interviews with Vlad. Although he’s been talking about it for years, Las Vegas police finally detained and arrested him on September 21. Currently, he’s in prison serving 28-years behind bars for voluntary manslaughter.

Aries Spears Calls Out DJ Vlad: “Stop Thinking You Know More Sh*t About Black Culture Than Black People”

Aries Spears confronted DJ Vlad while speaking with him for a recent interview, telling the VladTV CEO to stay out of Black culture. The argument began while discussing the current state of hip-hop with Spears not being a fan and Vlad defending it. Vlad noted that hip-hop wasn’t a top genre in the 1990s, prompting a disagreement. Eventually, Vlad realized he was incorrect.

“Apologize to me n***a. Stop thinking you know more shit about Black culture than Black people!” Spears screamed at Vlad. “You know your facts like you would know your rhythm n***a. Fuck outta here.” From there, Vlad clarified that hip-hop became the top-selling genre by 1999. “Don’t you ever say another word to me,” Spears said while describing Vlad as a “troll.”

His spat with Spears isn’t the only issue that Vlad has had in recent days. Last week, he released a lengthy statement condemning Drake and DJ Khaled on Twitter. He was upset about the artists’ silence on the conflict in Israel and Palestine. While he defended the current generation of rappers with Spears, he took a different take during the previous statement.

On their silence, he theorized: “It’s because both are so thirsty to maintain their relevance that they wouldn’t dare risk insulting a segment of their fanbase. Heaven forbid that Drake might debut at #2 behind Taylor Swift because some of his Palestinian fans chose to not stream his album. And it would be the end of the world if Khaled sold a few less sneakers because some Jewish people decided not to buy his Jordans. That’s the difference between artists of today and timeless legends like 2Pac. You know damn well Pac would be the first one to speak out about something so close to home.”

Drake’s Dad Seemingly Responded On His Behalf Over The Decision To Stay Silent On The Israeli-Hamas Conflict

Drake has faced a lot of pushback recently over his latest solo album, For All The Dogs. Unfortunately, that’s not where the outrage ends. After his social media spats with Joe Budden and Andrew Tate, he’s decided to lay low for a while.

Still, others, including DJ Vlad, are looking to Drake to make a statement about the ongoing conflict between the Israel and Hamas. Drake’s father, Dennis Graham, seemed to offered a response on his behalf over the decision to stay silent. During an encounter with TMZ Saturday, October 14, Graham shared his thoughts.

When asked if Drake’s Jewish heritage intensified his sadness about the tension in the region, Graham replied, “I’m sure it affects everybody. It’s just totally ridiculous… If you say something about this one, you are going to get criticized. If you say something about someone else, you’re going to get criticized… It’s best to say out of it, especially if you’re someone that’s well known.”

He continued, “Being a celebrity and saying something that favoring one against the other it’s going to come back on you. Just be quiet.”

This isn’t the first time Drake has been called out for being silent on political issues. In July, Ebro Darden referred to Drake’s lack of discussion on Black issues while filming the Apple Music show Rap Life Review, which he later walked back.

DJ Vlad On Drake And DJ Khaled Comments: “Their Voices Are Powerful”

Earlier this week, DJ Vlad took to social media to call out Drake and DJ Khaled for failing to speak up about the Israel-Palestine conflict. According to him, they should be using their platforms to raise awareness, particularly since they’re Jewish and Palestinian. The journalist went in on both of them, claiming the only reason they chose not to say anything was to not upset people and lose fans.

“It’s because both are so thirsty to maintain their relevance that they wouldn’t dare risk insulting a segment of their fanbase,” he wrote. “Heaven forbid that Drake might debut at #2 behind Taylor Swift because some of his Palestinian fans chose to not stream his album. And it would be the end of the world if Khaled sold a few less sneakers because some Jewish people decided not to buy his Jordans. That’s the difference between artists of today and timeless legends like 2Pac. You know damn well Pac would be the first one to speak out about something so close to home.”

DJ Vlad Says Drake And DJ Khaled “Should Learn” About Israel-Palestine Conflict

Recently, DJ Vlad appeared on The Breakfast Club where he elaborated on his comments. He explained that though the two artists aren’t obligated to speak on the conflict, he believes they should. When Charlamagne Tha God suggested that they might have not said anything because they don’t feel well-educated on the topic, he says that’s not an excuse.

“As representatives of these communities, their voices are powerful,” he explained, noting that they both have access to plenty of people who could educate them on the topic. “You probably should learn about it,” he adds. Ja Rule Defends Drake And DJ Khaled Amid DJ Vlad Diss

Recently, DJ Vlad came at Drake and DJ Khaled on social media, claiming that the two of them are wrong for not speaking out about the conflict between Israel and Palestine. “Has anyone noticed that the most famous Jewish person on Earth, Drake, and the most famous Palestinian person on Earth, DJ Khaled, haven’t said a single thing about the Gaza-Israel conflict?” he began.

“It’s not like Drake is too busy. He’s been writing paragraphs about Joe Budden hurting his feelings about his new album. DJ Khaled has been working overtime promoting his new Jordan sneakers. But both of them have been silent on this topic. Why is that?” DJ Vlad continued, “It’s because both are so thirsty to maintain their relevance that they wouldn’t dare risk insulting a segment of their fanbase.”

Ja Rule Says “It’s A Tough Thing”

“Heaven forbid that Drake might debut at #2 behind Taylor Swift because some of his Palestinian fans chose to not stream his album,” he added. “And it would be the end of the world if Khaled sold a few less sneakers because some Jewish people decided not to buy his Jordans. That’s the difference between artists of today and timeless legends like 2Pac. You know damn well Pac would be the first one to speak out about something so close to home.”

TMZ recently asked Ja Rule about his thoughts on the matter, and according to him, “it’s a tough thing.” He went on to describe how he doesn’t think anybody should feel obligated to do anything, despite expectations from fans. Ja Rule also added that people may not always feel as “educated” as necessary to speak on serious topics like that, encouraging fans to “give them time” to address them if they choose to. DJ Vlad Condemns Drake & DJ Khaled For Silence On Israel-Palestine Conflict

DJ Vlad called out both Drake and DJ Khaled for not speaking out on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine on social media, Tuesday. The CEO of VladTV says that the two, despite being Jewish and Palestinian, are too cowardly to address the situation.

Vlad began his rant: “Has anyone noticed that the most famous Jewish person on Earth, Drake, and the most famous Palestinian person on Earth, DJ Khaled, haven’t said a single thing about the Gaza-Israel conflict?  It’s not like Drake is too busy. He’s been writing paragraphs about Joe Budden hurting his feelings about his new album.  DJ Khaled has been working overtime promoting his new Jordan sneakers. DJ Vlad Refused To Cooperate With Cops On Keefe D Case, Tupac Suspect Being Held Without Bail

DJ Vlad has claimed that he refused numerous requests from law enforcement to cooperate with them in their investigation into Duane “Keefe D” Davis. Keefe D was interviewed multiple times by VladTV. During those interviews, he spoke at length about his involvement in the murder of Tupac Shakur. However, Vlad himself refused to help, stating that his platform would not be used to incarcerate its guests.

Furthermore, Vlad revealed that there was little to no cut footage from his interviews with Keefe. Practically everything they recorded together is publicly available and there are no hidden secrets on the floor of the editing room. Vlad implied that the cops were wasting their time trying to get at his cut footage. Additionally, Vlad said he was willing to hold his position of non-compliance. He would not budge, even if it meant facing subpoenas or other legal consequences.

Keefe D Being Held Without Bail

Meanwhile, Keefe D, who was arrested on September 29, is reportedly being held without bail and will be formally arraigned on October 4. Davis is accused of ordering 2Pac’s murder. “Duane Davis was the shot caller for this group of individuals that committed this crime and he orchestrated the plan that was carried out,” Las Vegas police homicide Lt. Jason Johansson told reporters. In his own memoir, Davis claims to have provided the gun that killed Tupac. Additionally, he has stated on numerous occasions that the man who pulled the trigger was his nephew, Orlando Anderson. However, Anderson died in an unrelated gang shooting in 1998.

Davis has been charged with one count of murder with a deadly weapon. He also refused to speak with the media after his arrest. Furthermore, Davis has been the primary focus of the investigation for several months. Additionally, the arrest comes after efforts to resolve the case were renewed earlier this year. Given his willingness to publicly speak about the case, few are surprised that Davis was arrested and charged with murder.

Nicki Minaj Doesn’t Seem To Be Backing Down Amid Alleged Beef With Offset And Cardi B

Nicki Minaj doesn’t seem to be relenting from her alleged beef with Cardi B and Offset. Earlier this past week, a video of her husband, Kenneth Petty, surfaced on the web, in which he appears to be making threats to Offset, standing outside of a hotel where he and Cardi were said to be staying.

After the video surfaced, Minaj doubled down, sharing a snippet of new music on Twitter, on which, she raps, “I can’t be playin’…I married a G/ I got some…that do what I say, if I tell ’em to shoot, they pull up on the three.”

DJ Vlad later slammed Minaj, taking to Twitter to blast this move.

“Nicki Minaj’s husband is on house arrest for threatening Offset,” Vlad said. “Right after that, she previews a song on IG saying she got killers who will pull up and do what she say. This was the same Nicki who threatened to send her husband to Akademiks’ house for his comments about her.”

Last night (September 22), Minaj took to her Instagram livestream, in which she is seen in a studio ahead of an airing of her Queen Radio Amp show. She is surrounded by people who seem to be backing her up. Minaj doesn’t directly address Vlad’s comments, and issued a warning, saying, “It’s a difference between making calls and calling the shots” throughout the stream.

Neither Cardi B nor Offset appear to have responded to this particular line.

Cardi B is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
