DJ Akademiks Wants Lupe Fiasco To Start A Battle With Kendrick Lamar

DJ Akademiks is calling on any rapper with the skillset to take down Kendrick Lamar to step up and challenge the iconic Compton rapper. He made the comments while reacting to Big Sean’s recent appearance on Charlamagne Tha God’s new podcast, Out of Context. Sean revealed during the interview that he almost had a beef with Lamar following the release of a leaked version of “Element.” On the track, Lamar had dissed Sean but quickly called him up to apologize.

“Yo, I’m at the point—even y’all say Drake ain’t win— I’m rooting for any n***a that could f*ck Kendrick up! I’m tired of this sh*t!” Akademiks yelled while streaming. “He got rappers sounding like h*es! N****s are apologizing, scrolling through their text messages unsending what is this n***a doing? Y’all got the same 24 hours in a day why can’t y’all squabble with this little midget, what the f**k?!?!” From there, he suggested Lupe Fiasco needs to take down Lamar.

Akademiks’ suggestion comes after Fiasco recently clarified that he doesn’t have any issues with Lamar during a conversation with Joe Budden on X (formerly Twitter) Spaces. “I do not have a problem,” he claimed. “No matter what was said in the past, what you think happened, what happened, what didn’t happen. I personally and professionally do not have a problem with my brother-in-arms Kendrick Lamar.” Fiasco previously sparked rumors about a hatred for Lamar by siding with Drake in their viral feud.

Mustard Claimed Album Sales Were ‘A Form Of White Supremacy,’ But Fans Believe The Producer’s Declaration Has Other Ego-Driven Roots

Mustard produced Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping Drake diss track, “Not Like Us.” However, it seems that momentum hasn’t translated over into his personal projects.

On July 26, the acclaimed producer dropped his latest album, Faith Of A Mustard Seed. Now, the first week sells projections are supposedly in. According to Akademiks, the body of work sold 18k units.

As users online began to declare the album a “flop,” Mustard made a bold claim on his personal X (formerly Twitter) page. “Album sales are a form of white supremacy you n****s racist,” he wrote.

He then sent a jab Drake’s way before turning his attention to Akademiks, writing: “Drake is the Malcolm X of white people 😂 and Akademiks make sure you post Gordo’s first week since Drake thought he did a thing with making him drop on the same day as me 😂.”

However, fans didn’t let Mustard’s first declaration pass without pushing back. One pointed out that Ice Spice’s debut album Y2K out sold his, to which he was left speechless.

Many began to dogpile Mustard as they referenced his past reaction to his 2019 album, Perfect Ten, first week sells.

“Now it’s racism, should’ve got Carti up there again, maybe you would’ve moved some units,” penned one user.

“It’s only racist when your album flops. If your album sold well, you’d be flexing your sales 😂😂😭😭,” laughed another.

“No album sales represent if your audience / the marketplace actually like what you produce. Clearly they don’t like you. Stop playing the race card,” chimed another.

But several people jumped in to side with Mustard. “Too many people take numbers way too seriously. Let the music speak,” argued one user.

“Plenty of artists drop projects that have low sales In the beginning for it to go platinum later,” added another.

“I hate how people use album sales as a metric to grade how good and powerful the music is. If you changed one person’s life while they listened to any of the tracks, you already won, man,” wrote one user.

The public’s tracking of first week sells has been used to instigate multiple rap feuds.

Faith Of A Mustard Seed is out on now via 10 Summers Records and Interscope.

Mustard Calls Drake The Malcolm X Of White People In Scathing Twitter Rant

Mustard doesn’t like Drake. That much we all knew. The producer blessed Kendrick Lamar with the beat for “Not Like Us,” the most iconic diss song since Nas’ “Ether.” Mustard was featured prominently at the “Pop Out” show on Juneteenth, and the “Not Like Us” music video. That being said, the producer went off on Drake in a way fans had never seen before. He targeted the Toronto rapper and DJ Akademiks in an August 2nd Twitter rant that few saw coming. He also dropped some unique insults in the process.

The producer had a bone to pick with DJ Akademiks hyping up Drake’s recent hits. The 6 God teamed up with producer Gordo for the songs “Sideways” and “Healing.” Gordo’s album, DIAMANTE, dropped the same day as Mustard’s FAITH OF A MUSTARD SEED, and the latter felt the decision was made on purpose to take away from his moment. Frustrated, Mustard proceeded to call Drizzy “Malcolm X” for white people. “Drake is the Malcolm X of white people,” he tweeted. “Akademiks, make sure you post Gordo’s first week since … [they dropped] the same day as me.”

Mustard Crashes Out While Talking Album Sales

Mustard then accused Drake of using bots to boost the streaming numbers of his Gordo songs. He even tied it back in to his insult about Malcolm X. “These Drake bots are the Nation of drizzlam,” the producer wrote. He also tagged Akademiks and Gordo to make sure they saw what he had to say. The tweets kept coming. “The bots tryna fade me,” Mustard tweeted. He then dug it in his heels and called Ak and the 6 God racists. “Album sales are a form of white supremacy,” he wrote. “You n**gas racist.” The sales that Mustard is referring to does, admittedly, favor Gordo. Gordo’s album sold 20K during its first week, and Mustard’s only pulled in 18K. Not a huge discrepancy, but enough for the L.A. producer to get heated.

Mustard’s frustrations may have something to do with the personal nature of his album. He was clear about the fact that FAITH OF A MUSTARD SEED was his most revealing release yet. He even decided to rap on the outro, as a means of putting more of himself in the music than ever. I started feeling like the records were becoming more soulful-leaning,” he told XXL. “It just kind of reminded me of like, me being a kid and different parts of Los Angeles.” We’re going to assume he didn’t like DIAMANTE based on his comments.

XXXTENTACION’s Killer Laughs At Rapper’s Son And Counts The Money He Stole From Him: Watch

Some truly ungracious and disturbing videos are making the rounds on the internet thanks to some reposting by DJ Akademiks. His djakademikstv account reshared a couple of posts from one of the three killer’s of XXXTENTACION, Michael Boatwright. Him, along with Dedrick Williams, 26, and Trayvon Newsome, 24 were all handed down life sentences for first-degree murder and armed robbery last spring. In the first clip, Boatwright can be heard saying “they need to free a real one, man”. Right after some more mumbling, it cuts to a video of XXXTENTACION’s son, Gekyume, with the original caption over it reading, “that’s my dad😊”. He runs over to some shelf in his room and points to something that is impossible to make out.

Boatwright posted it to his Instagram Story with two “😂😂” over it. Then, the second video sees him counting up the amount of cash he made away with during that robbery outside of the South Florida motorcycle shop. All three men were able to steal $50,000 back on that horrific June 18, 2018. Fans were obviously reacting with a lot of displeasure and disgust, even calling Akademiks for even spreading this to begin with.

Foolio Shooting: High-Quality Surveillance Footage Leaves DJ Akademiks Stunned

DJ Akademiks was left in awe while reacting to the security camera footage captured during the shooting of Foolio, last month. The release of the video comes after police announced three arrests in the case on Monday. They include Sean Gathright, 18, Alicia Andrews, 21, and Isaiah Chance Jr., 21. They’ve been charged with premeditated first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Two other suspects have warrants out for their arrest.

“They got the clearest Surveillance footage I’ve ever seen in Foolio case,” Akademiks wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday afternoon. “N****s this aint even 4K.. n***a this 16K… I watched movies in iMAX that didn’t have this quality. n***a im seeing the bullets leave each gun. I’m seeing their heart beat through their shirt. Crazy.” Fans echoed his feeling on social media as well. “lmaoooo technology has done so much in our world, so many murder cases would have gone unsolved,” one user responded. Another remarked: “Bro one of them camera angles they got it HAD to be a cameraman present cause ain’t NO way.”

Police Release Footage Of The Foolio Shooting

Foolio was shot and killed on June 23 while celebrating his 26th birthday in Tampa, Florida. He had been staying at an Airbnb but was kicked out due to exceeding occupancy limits. He traveled to a nearby Holiday Inn in an attempt to get a room there but was ambushed. Foolio had updated fans on his plans and whereabouts several times on social media prior to the attack.

DJ Akademiks Can’t Believe The Quality Of The Footage

Foolio’s lawyer, Lewis Fusco, reflected on the rapper’s passing in an emotional statement on his Instagram Story shortly after the incident. “While most people knew him as the controversial rapper and entertainer, I was fortunate enough to know Charles Jones, the man beyond the public persona,” Fusco wrote. “He was a kid who grew up in challenging circumstances, determined to defy the odds by any means possible and succeed in all that he did. His journey was marked by resilience and a deep-seated desire to strive for greatness.” Be on the lookout for further updates on DJ Akademiks as well as the investigation into Foolio’s murder on HotNewHipHop.

DJ Akademiks Clowned By O’Sean Jackson Jr. For Claiming Drake Has Been Through “Realer Sh*t” Than Kendrick Lamar

DJ Akademiks is someone who has been known for having some controversial takes when it comes to the music world. Overall, he has been especially active throughout the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. For the most part, it is well known that Akademiks’ allegiances mostly lie with the OVO side of things. This has subsequently led to some truly dubious claims from Ak, although aside from a few detractors on social media, he largely goes unchecked.

Recently, however, Akademiks said something that sounded so outlandish, O’Shea Jackson Jr. had to step in and say something. As you can see in the video clip below, Akademiks made the comment that Drake has been through “realer sh*t” than Kendrick Lamar. Overall, you can probably see how this comment may come across as pretty outlandish. O’Shea Jackson Jr. was quick to call it out, noting “Every. Got. Damn. Day. Lmfaooooo.”

DJ Akademiks Under Fire

At this point, it should not be a surprise that Akademiks is reacting this way to the beef, or shooting Drake this kind of bail. This has been happening every single step of the way throughout the beef. Having said that, even Akademiks cannot deny the power and the impact of a song like “Meet The Grahams” and of course, “Not Like Us.” For now, it is going to be extremely difficult for Drake to gain significant momentum. If he does, it will be nothing short of a miracle, at this point. Only time will tell what Drizzy is able to do next.

Let us know what you think about this take from DJ Akademiks, in the comments section down below. Do you believe his comments during the stream were ridiculous? Do you agree with what he had to say about Drake and Kendrick? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Childish Gambino Seemingly Disses Drake On New Song “Yoshinoya”

Childish Gambino raps on his new album, Bando Stone and the New World. Not as much as you’d think, though. The artist intersperses bars with sonic experiments and electronic flourishes. “Yoshinoya” is a rare exception to this. The track sees Childish Gambino drop aggressive rhymes over a trunk-rattling instrumental from producer Triangle Park. He takes aim at some undisclosed target in his verses, but fans have been quick to point out clues that suggest the target is in plain sight. The theory is that the rapper is the latest to attack Drizzy Drake.

The biggest piece of evidence to suggest that Childish Gambino is targeting Drake is in the first verse. “I put your boy in the seat. You got your biz’ in the streets,” he raps. “I wash my hands when I eat. I never hand her the key.” The use of the moniker the “Boy,” evokes the nickname that Drake has used over the last decade. Genius even posits Gambino’s wording as a means of schooling the 6 God, hence putting him in a seat (the annotation is, notably, unreviewed). The next few lines have also been theorized to be about Drake. “I don’t know no one BD,” he raps. “But they dependent on me.” “BD” is baby daddy, which technically applies to the Toronto rapper. Drake also scored a hit single in 2023 with “Rich Baby Daddy.”

Childish Gambino And Drake Have Had Issues In The Past

The rest of the song is peppered with slights and comments that could easily apply to Drake. Childish Gambino mentions finding a house “on the app,” which evokes the iconic imagery of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” diss. The rapper also suggests that his unnamed target has untrustworthy people in his circle. “They plottin’ hard when you slatt,” he spits. “Thеy got a gun in your back. This who you trust when you sleepin’ at night.” There’s even an “AK” bar. “AK not silent like knife,” Childish Gambino raps towards the back end of the verse. The reference applies to a loud firearm, of course, but could just as well apply to DJ Akademiks and the fact that he serves as Drizzy’s mouthpiece.

Childish Gambino and Drake have not had the closest relationship over the years. The latter infamously criticized Gambino’s “This Is America” during a 2018 concert in Chicago. He posted a user comment that read: “The overrated and over awarded hit song ‘This Is America’ was originally a Drake diss record.” It’s also worth noting that fans have compared Childish Gambino’s sound on the new album to Drake. Many social media users have compared Bando Stone and the New World to the 6 God’s recent releases, and there’s definitely similarities. We won’t know if “Yoshinoya” is a diss unless Gambino confirms it, but we know there isn’t love lost between him and Drake.

DJ Akademiks Claims Drake Has A Kendrick Lamar Sneak Diss Ready

Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar will be the hip-hop story of 2024. Nothing will come along that tops it in terms of importance or attention. It was a fun time for all involved, except for maybe Drake. That being said, the battle may not be over. DJ Akademiks has continued to hint at the possibility that the 6 God has more to say about his enemy on record. Drake has been quiet, at least by Drake standards. During a new stream, though, DJ Akademiks claimed that some K. Dot sneak disses are on the way.

Ak’s allegiance to Drake is inarguable. That being said, the hip-hop personality does appear to have an inside line to the OVO camp. His predictions and debunking of rumors has been mostly spot on. He’s not infallible, of course, but when it comes to new Drake material, he has enough credibility to be believable. He voiced excitement over the next phase of the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle, which he called sneak dissing time. “It’s really never over,” he noted. “I can’t wait to hear the first sneak diss.” Akademiks went to share some additional information, but he caught himself. “Matter of fact,” he said, before pausing. “I won’t even tell y’all what I heard.”

DJ Akademiks Alludes To Unreleased Drake Music

DJ Akademiks’ excitement did make it seem like he knew something the public didn’t, though. “I can’t wait to hear the first sneak diss Drake got,” he explained. “That’s dissing Kendrick. How he positions it, that’s gonna be interesting. How does he position it…” It’s been a few months since Drake and Kendrick Lamar swapped diss tracks, but the beef appears to very much be active. Lamar is still riding high on the success of his Drake diss, “Not Like Us,” which went back to number one on Billboard. Dot’s former label mate, Ab-Soul, also tweeted about the possibility of Drake picking the battle back up.

More recently, ScHoolboy Q went after Drake’s OVO camp. The TDE artist claimed that Canadian police forced him to cancel his show in Toronto, and he vented about the sudden decision on Twitter. He said that Young Money and OVO artists have been cool in Los Angeles, and suggested that the 6 God was being sensitive. The real cause behind Q’s canceled show have since been debated. Some claim that Canadian police were behind it, others claimed the rapper canceled it himself. Time will tell if all this tension will manifest in the form of a sneak diss, like DJ Akademiks claimed.

ScHoolboy Q & DJ Akademiks Go Back And Forth After Q’s Toronto Show Is Suspiciously Shut Down

Last night was not particularly fun for ScHoolboy Q. Overall, this is due to the fact that he was unable to perform in Toronto, Canada. The news came as a bit of a surprise, although as Q alleged, it was the Toronto police who ended up shutting down his show. “THey just cancelled my sHow in TORONTO,” Q said on Twitter. “CANADIAN POLICE DONT WANT NOBODY FROM TDE PERFORMING.” He subsequently followed this up by saying “TOP was just wit Wayne & Baby smH partynextdoor just Had a sHow @ tHe palladium. if we wanted to get yall we would’ve just did it.. now wHen sumbody get Hurt don’t cry…”

The second statement was misinterpreted by some as an incitement of violence. As a result, DJ Akademiks decided to weigh in with some comments of his own. “Sending Prayers for Peace and healing. Battle was good. Time to move on,” he wrote. Mostly, Akademiks has been on team OVO throughout this whole thing. Having said that, ScHoolboy Q wasn’t going to let Ak get the last word in on all of this. “I neva said “ ima kill sumbody” im saying if we wanted to crack it off we could’ve smH,” Q wrote. “Rap and move on playin tuff gon get sumbody Hurt it’s all good. ima soccer dad.”

ScHoolboy Q And Ak With An Exchange

Needless to say, the situation is a bit of a mess right now. There was no official explanation given for the shutdown of Q’s show, and fans are left to speculate. Of course, his TDE affiliation and the potential ramifications of that have been the prevailing theory. Having said that, it remains clear that the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef will not be simmering down anytime soon.

Let us know what you think of this situation, in the comments section down below. Do you believe that Drake is somehow involved in all of this? Do you think that this is going to continue to happen to TDE artists in Toronto, moving forward? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Big Sean Calls Out DJ Akademiks For Pushing Rap Beef Narratives

What a difference a freestyle makes. Big Sean has made a point of staying out of rap beef in 2024. The artist has a reputation for being well-liked within the industry. Even when he gets criticized by others, like his former label boss, Kanye West, Sean seems to take the high road. This is what made his On the Radar freestyle such a surprise. Big Sean dropped some combative bars over a classic Timbaland beat, and the internet theorized that he was targeting Kendrick Lamar. It made sense, given how many times Dot has targeted Sean on record.

This theory proved to be false. DJ Hed claimed that he talked with Big Sean about the freestyle, and the bars were aimed at a different Gemini rapper. Then, the Detroit rapper decided to set the record straight. He tweeted that he was merely going at his haters on the freestyle. “Y’all going with so many narratives, I’m talking to da haters,” he wrote. “Who just keep finding something to point out they don’t like about me.” Big Sean went on to lament the fact that he had to explain his bars. “It’s not even worth explaining tho,” he added. “Ima just focus on the music.”

The venting then moved over to Instagram. Big Sean commented on a DJ Akademiks post suggesting he was target Dot and tried, yet again, to clear the air. “Ak you know I f*ck wit you,” he wrote in the comment section. “But I’m laughing cause you know that tweet n the video don’t got nothing to do with each other lol.” The tweet that Sean alludes to was posted earlier in the day. “N f*ck these b*tch a*s n**gaz,” he wrote. “Every one of them.” It’s easy to see why fans interpreted the tweet as being connected to the combative On the Radar freestyle. That said, the rapper implies that Akademiks knew information that the the rest of us didn’t.

To further emphasize the fact that he’s got no beef, Big Sean recreated an iconic LeBron James meme. “Smiling through it,” he wrote on his IG Story. “Can’t believe this is my life.” The rapper is in a good place after revealing that he quit drinking. “I stopped drinking in 2022 cause that sh*t was just f*cking me up,” he said via IG Live. “It’s a depressant so if you dealing with any anxiety like me — I always be thinking about what I gotta do. How I gotta do it, what’s next et cetera.” He’s in a much better place, and this place evidently, has no room for beef.
