CyHi, Mr. EGOT, Drops “On The Radar” Freestyle

CyHi, Mr. EGOT, Drops "On The Radar" Freestyle

Atlanta artist Mr. EGOT, formerly CyHi, made a powerful return with a freestyle at On The Radar’s studios in New York. This marks CyHi’s first offering of 2024, following the November 2023 release of “Mr. Put That Shit On,” featuring Pusha T, inspired by ‘The Wiz’ and released via EMPIRE.

“Mr. Put That Shit On” signaled CyHi’s comeback as he prepares for his upcoming concept album. As CyHi recently explained on Instagram, the album will explore “the fascinating journey of Philip Michael Thomas, an accomplished American actor and musician who coined the term ‘EGOT.’”

CyHi shows no signs of slowing down with his new album on the horizon. He has collaborated with industry giants like Lil Wayne and T-Pain, consistently delivering hit records that resonate with fans worldwide.

CyHi Spits Fire During His “On The Radar” Freestyle, Hypes Up Forthcoming Album

CyHi, formerly known as CyHi The Prynce, has got to be one of the rap game’s most unheralded lyricists. He does not drop all that often, which probably hurts his case. But he is without a doubt one of the sharpest writers of the last 10 years at least. Recently, CyHi stopped by for an “On The Radar” freestyle, to remind everyone how special he is.

The Georgia-born rapper and songwriter stepped up to the mic to give us bar after bar for five minutes straight. Outside of his effortless rapping, CyHi impressively switches up his style when the beat transitions halfway through. On the first half, the No Dope On Sundays MC spits over a more hype instrumental, whereas the backend strips things back and slows down. Hopefully, fans will get this type of dynamic spitting on his forthcoming record.

Listen To “On The Radar” Freestyle By CyHi

According to HipHopDX, CyHi is inching closer and closer toward dropping The Story of Mr. EGOT. It would be just his third overall LP and first since the aforementioned No Dope On Sundays. That dropped all the way back in 2017, so it has certainly been a hot minute. We perhaps got the first taste of the album back in 2022 with the EGOT the EP.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new “On The Radar” freestyle from CyHi? Is he one of the best, yet underrated writers the game has ever seen, why or why not? Where does this rank amongst the freestyles you have heard this year? Does this get you excited for his upcoming album The Story Of EGOT? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding CyHi. CyHi The Prynce Clarifies Dissing Joe Budden In New Music Video With Pusha T

CyHi The Prynce is anticipating the release of his next album The Story Of Mr. EGOT in a pretty big and inflammatory way. However, he doesn’t think that the immediate reaction to this method is as big of a deal as the Internet is making it out to be. Moreover, the rapper recently released his six-minute-long music video for the single “Mr. Put That S**t On” featuring Pusha T. In the visual, he slaps a Joe Budden stand-in in the face and features a skit of The Average Joe Show, which might be a shot at the Slaughterhouse affiliate’s self-titled podcast. Still, with his latest Instagram post, the frequent Kanye West collaborator explained the idea behind this, and how it doesn’t have much to do with their established beef.

“In the Average Joe Show from the scene in “Mr. Put That Sh!t On”, the goal was to transform a controversial topic into an artistic masterpiece with humor, theatrics, and pure entertainment,” CyHi wrote on Instagram on Tuesday (November 28). In addition, the post features Joe Budden praising the track and some more discussion on it, although he didn’t react to the music video.

CyHi Explains Shots At Joe Budden

“Through creative expression, I highlight artists’ challenges, including aspects like criticism and comparisons, balancing personal style and external expectations, staying adaptable to evolving trends, and addressing the difficulties of gaining recognition,” CyHi continued. “Despite these hurdles, many artists, like myself, view criticism as a catalyst for growth, highlighting resilience and intrinsic motivation in our creative journeys.

“This scene isn’t about past beef but addresses these challenges and showcases the importance of creative expression,” he concluded. “Interestingly enough, Joe Budden acknowledged the feature in a recent podcast episode, embracing the role of the ‘sacrificial lamb.’ If you haven’t already, check out the captivating blend of humor and entertainment in my bio! #TheStoriesofMrEGOT

CyHi‘s long-awaited four-song EP, EGOT the EP, was released via his new label EGOT Records, distributed by EMPIRE. Guest appearances from Jacquees, Big Bank Black, and newcomer Baby Rose appear on the EP, featuring production from Edsclusive, Bongo ByTheWay, Go Grizzly, Tane Runo, and others. CyHi’s first official release in nearly five years is a four-song EP.

The EP follows the release of “Tears” feat. Jacquees, a single. On the track, Cyhi raps about the loss in numerous forms, including losing loved ones and the losses he’s experienced throughout his career. CyHi’s delivery stays true to his trademark slick lyrics and top-tier wit, while Jacquees’ croons over the hook give the song his unique flavor.

The Story Of EGOT, CyHi’s upcoming album, is a good portrayal of an EGOT Award, the pinnacle of honorable achievement in the entertainment industry. CyHi hopes to show off his creativity to the fullest with his sophomore album.

“I’m way more diverse than just a writer and rapper, Cyhi says while speaking on the new album. “I wanted to be able to fully spread my wings and showcase all my talents in one project. I believe this project is EGOT worthy. Its creativity, emotion and star-studded lineup is unmatched.”
