Sexyy Red Called Herself The “Modern Day Boosie”

Sexyy Red has experienced a meteoric rise to fame in 2023. Earlier this year she released her debut album Hood Hottest Princess which came on the heels of her breakthrough hit “Pound Town 2.” The album went on to find even more success with songs like “SkeeYee” and “Hellcats SRTs.” That doesn’t even touch on some of the artists she’s collaborated with along the way. Nicki Minaj and DaBaby were some of her earliest team-ups and since then she’s worked with massive artists like Drake, SZA, and Lil Durk.

While Sexyy Red’s breakout year has seen her compared to many other rappers, she has one particular comparison in mind. Yesterday she tweeted “modern day boosie” making it clear that her biggest point of comparison is Boosie Badazz. As is often the case when Red does anything online, fans started hating on her quickly. “NO WAY. NO ALBUMS, NO CLASSICS, NO LYRICS, NOTHING,” and “This disrespectful to boosie,” two of the top comments read. Moreover, it also comes as no surprise that the Bad Boy head honcho would compare a billionaire-to-be with one of the most adorned media figures ever. Furthermore, he compared Yung Miami to Oprah, and said that she’ll one day match her status in her own lane and become a rap billionaire. Clearly, Sean Combs has a lot of faith and support for his on-and-off-again flame.

“Nipsey Hussle, to me, was that young Puff version,” Diddy remarked of a question about which rising stars could become business titans like him one day. “But one person that I can say right now is Travis Scott. I can relate to how he’s diversifying his portfolio and really understanding how to take it to the next level.” Then, he evoked Oprah while describing the City Girl, speaking specifically on their various media outlets.

“I also think Yung Miami [real name Caresha Brownlee] from the City Girls,” Diddy continued. “She reminds me of Oprah with the endless possibilities that she has as far as her clothing line, television shows, performances, live podcasts. I really respect both of their hustles and see them being able to break through.” Of course, this isn’t a bad prediction to make at all, considering the success of the Caresha Please podcast and the Florida native’s other business endeavors. In fact, this is a timely comparison to make, as she recently (and hilariously) revealed what NSFW question she would ask Oprah.

Twitter Compares Halle Bailey To Janet Jackson While Dissing DDG

Halle Bailey and DDG are one of the more divisive couples online, with many fans of the singer often criticizing the YouTuber and rapper. It’s been rough for them in spaces like Twitter, but they continue to stand by each other no matter what. In fact, even when Chlöe’s sister provokes comparisons to a legend like Janet Jackson, Internet folk find ways to drag him in the mud. “She’s so Janet coded even down to the low budget baby daddy,” one user wrote on Twitter, quote-tweeting a video of the pair at a Gucci fashion show. What’s more is that this isn’t even the first time that fans compared the R&B singer to the iconic Jackson sister.

Of course, the sheer veracity of this statement was subject to some debate in the replies. For one, many thought that this user referred to Janet’s relationship with Jermaine Dupri, who is by no means low-budget. In addition, the father of her son (whom she since divorced) is apparently a wealthy businessman from Qatar. As such, maybe it’s not the best comparison point, although there are many reasons why Halle Bailey should be honored by that link.

On top of all this, Halle Bailey and DDG also have to deal with a barrage of pregnancy rumors that are floating online right now. Most of them revolve around the Little Mermaid actress’ outfit choices, which some believe cover up more belly space than usual. Considering that people already don’t like this relationship for whatever reason, this is a panic room emergency for some. Regardless of all of that, they still seem quite happy together, and always support each other’s individual career evolution.

J. Cole Compared Burna Boy To Tupac When They First Met

Afrobeats have been increasing in popularity in the United States for years now and one of the biggest reasons for that is Burna Boy. The rapper has been a torch bearer for the genre who has seen its success through to a number of new milestones. In 2020 he scored his first top 20 album with Twice As Tall, only to eclipse that in 2022 when his album Love, Damini debuted inside the top 10 of the Billboard 200. While the numbers on his newest release won’t be in until this weekend, but with the project already racking up millions of Spotify streams it’s likely to get pretty high.

Burna Boy hasn’t just been impressive for his numbers, he’s also achieved some major cosigns. His new album features appearances from RZA, GZA, Dave, 21 Savage, and J. Cole. It was that last feature that he discussed in a recent appearance on the Rap Radar podcast. He told the story of ending up in the studio with Cole and the rapper being impressed with his performance. “This n*gga’s Tupac reincarnated in Africa,” Burna claims he said. The Tupac comparison isn’t the only time J. Cole has had high praise for Burna Boy. On their recent collaboration, he had even more high praise for the pair as a duo. “Cole and Burna, Shaq and Kobe/ Winnin’ a ring, then we gon’ repeat and three-peat/ Them nerds hate, they seat geeks/ They peepin’ us on the low, we like the cheat sheet,” Cole raps. Cole is no stranger to basketball comparisons either so he knows exactly what he’s saying by equating them to Shaq and Kobe.

Finesse2tymes is among the many Memphis stars that burst onto the scene in the 2020s so far. However, he’s still not among the most beloved, or at least, that’s what the recent response to one of his Instagram Stories suggests. As a hard-working and focused MC, though, he’s sure to beat these allegations soon, and they certainly won’t slow his hustle down. Still, many fans thought he was overshooting when he named various great rappers and credited them as influencing his hybrid style. Rather than think about whether his music sounds like theirs in concept, they went for his throat on the quality and status end.

“If you put 50 cent, Doe b, Yo Gotti, and Gucci mane all in one pot, U get Finesse2tymes,” the 90 Days artist wrote on social media. In addition, he included a fire emoji and a thinking emoji, and users definitely made their thoughts clear. “More like Bart Simpson and manny fresh mixed in da pot,” one commenter savagely wrote, with another adding “And the lie detector determined that was Cap” with laughing emojis. However, there were still many fans who came to his defense or just disagreed with him with no disrespect, just from a style angle.

Much like Ice Spice, hip-hop has seen a rapid come-up unfolding for Sexyy Red over the past few months. While she certainly hasn’t taken things to the same level the 23-year-old is at, she did match her “Princess Diana (Remix)” with Nicki Minaj by recruiting the Queen of Rap to join forces with her for “Pound Town 2.” In addition to that, NLE Choppa has been showing Sexyy plenty of love as she continues to grow, as has Travis Scott. The latter brought the salacious spitter out during his set at Wireless Festival earlier this month. They were later seen turning up at the club together, with Latto also in attendance.

Like most female rappers, the Missouri-born artist has gotten her share of hate too, mostly for the NSFW nature of her content. Regardless of what critics have to say, however, Red continues to move forward with total confidence, which is exactly what listeners admire about her. In particular, her work has caught the eye of TikTok star Aliyah, who’s also known for pushing boundaries with her bold fashion choices. Seeing as the two embody similar energy, it’s really no surprise to find out that the social media influencer is one of Sexyy’s biggest fans.

Ice Spice Responds To Troll Comparing Her To Someone With Down Syndrome

As one of the biggest artists in the world right now, Ice Spice is having a rollercoaster of a year so far. Unfortunately, with all that visibility and virality, you’re bound to catch a lot of haters on the way, especially as women in rap get an unjustifiably disproportionate amount of it. Moreover, a recent tweet making fun of the Bronx rapper’s appearance did so at the expense of another community. Recently, a Twitter user replied to a tweet of hers with a side-by-side picture of her and a girl with Down syndrome, which has actually been a pretty nasty joke online against her. Regardless, the “Barbie World” star responded swiftly and sharply to the jab while rightfully dismissing standards of beauty and normalcy.

“U thought u ate but my sis cute asf,” Ice Spice quote-tweeted the image in question with a heart-eyes emoji. Many expressed their support of both women in the comments of her tweet, and she even responded to a few of those. “You know you made it when you have people hating for no reason,” Twitter sensation @kirawontmiss replied. “Thx kira,” the 23-year-old replied, which made for a wild hip-hop and Twitter culture crossover.

Ahead of the release of his next album A Love Letter To You 5, Trippie Redd is really feeling himself on Twitter. On Tuesday evening (June 13), the Ohio rapper, singer, and songwriter made a comment on his versatility as an artist and credited it as his main claim to fame. Not only that, but he argued that he’s on a whole other level when it comes to his production and sonic tendencies on his records. Sure, you might have your preferred picks when it comes to that area and arguments against him, but there’s no denying that Trippie’s walked many different lanes as a creative. With his next single dropping this week, we’ll see if he puts his money where his mouth is and comes through with another great record.

“I’m versatile,” Trippie Redd fired off on Twitter. “I blew up off of that alone. Judge me for how I look talk smoke breath but ur fav artist probably ain’t on my level sonically. I took a break from real music to make rage music it was fun but now it’s time.” Interestingly enough, reception to his rage album MANSION MUSIK wasn’t the best, but it still did pretty good numbers and had some highlights. To not label rage as “real music” seems like an unnecessary jab, but hopefully that reflects that he wants to make something more true to himself this time around.

Meanwhile, another wish is that ALLTY5 doesn’t fall victim to the same pitfalls of leaks and hackers that his previous album fell to. During a conversation with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1, Trippie Redd explained that hackers tampered with the release of MANSION MUSIK and caused him and his team to have to rush certain elements. “I ain’t really speak on it, but I’m going to speak on it,” the 23-year-old shared. “I was held for ransom on my project. They had all my records. Every single last one. All the features.” He continued to explain that he had to “rush the project out,” which affected the mixing. “That’s what Travis sent to me [on “KRAZY TRAIN”], I didn’t mix it.

“I had to run with it because if I didn’t, the whole project was going to release,” he continued. “They have been hacking and leaking s**t, at least my last two, three albums. Pegasus, it probably leaked two months before it dropped, bro, and it still did extremely well. I was like, if I don’t drop it now, then it’s going to be out there, and they’re going to hear it regardless. They’re going to hear the bad mix regardless, so I’m going to put it out unmixed and see what they think. Yeah, the album did leak, actually, two. I work through anything. God got the last laugh, you feel me? Like the devil going to throw so much at you, you can’t really let it bother you. In a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times, he addressed his perceived role as a deadbeat dad and recent reports that he pays $3 million a year in child support. “That’s not a lot of money,” he remarked. “When you think about my lifestyle, I have to generate at least $100 million a year… Everybody thinks Ryan Seacrest has tons of money. I do everything that he does times 10. Well, not times 10- times three. Because he does a lot. I’ve been villainized. I hear all the time: ‘You can’t be present for all those children.’ So, therefore, I get this deadbeat dad title.

“Right now, the narrative is, ‘He has a bunch of kids,’” Nick Cannon continued. “But I’m really at a place now where I don’t care what people know. I’d rather just operate. It’s more about really being a good person instead of telling people you’re a good person. I mean, Muhammad Ali had a bunch of kids, and he was the greatest fighter there ever was. Bob Marley got more kids than I got. These are great men.”

In another interview with Jason Lee, the “Wild ‘N Out” host spoke on why his twins with Mariah Carey, Moroccan and Monroe, aren’t on social media more often. “The few times we have let [Moroccan] go, he does it so classy,” Nick Cannon remarked. “They said something about his mom, and he said, ‘Hold up.’ He was on Twitch. Tupac’s Sister Blasts Trump’s Attorney For Comparing The Two

Donald Trump’s attorney’s recent comments about the former president being like Tupac and Biggie caught some heat from the late rapper’s sister. Moreover, attorney Alina Habbais claimed that these recent “false” claims bolster the reality TV star’s brand. “Donald Trump is Tupac. Donald Trump is Biggie Smalls,” Habbais told Benny Johnson. “But no, Donald Trump is his own brand. He is everything. This is just going to boost him. We have seen it in the polls. This is not a question. This is a fact.”

Of course, these comparisons elicited strong reactions online, from both hardcore hip-hop fans and political commentators alike. When comparing the two, Set Shakur said that there’s very little overlap between her late brother and the indicted political figure. “My brother was measured by his integrity, his principles and personal and collective responsibility,” she remarked to TMZ. Not only that, she called Habbais’ assessment “blasphemous.” While the West Coast legend took responsibility for his 1994 assault case, she went on, she’s not seeing the same level of accountability in Trump. In response to the attorney’s claims about exposure, Set remarked that Tupac’s popularity didn’t stem form his controversies, but rather the power of his music.

Furthermore, Habbais made these statements about Tupac just as Trump landed in New York to face charges of fraud and the results of other investigations. While people expect him to turn himself in on Tuesday (April 4), anything could happen in this highly publicized and politically divisive case. On one hand, these investigations sought to hold Trump accountable for hush money sent to porn star Stormy Daniels and other things like tax evasion and further counts of fraud. On the other, his supporters believe this is a rigged and witch-hunt-style takedown of the business mogul.

Given his presidential run for 2024 and his complete denial of any wrongdoing, this should make for an interesting development in this election cycle. However, it’s clear that Habbais’ words incited and provoked conversation rather than speaking to the rapper’s fanbase. With that in mind, public favor amid the Republican Party, and especially amid his detractors, will likely turn even more against the 76-year-old in the coming weeks. Hopefully justice is served.
