Coi Leray Is Ready For A New Season With The Announcement Of Her Sophomore Album, ‘Coi’

Coi Leray‘s a little over a year removed from the release of her debut album Trendsetter. Since then, her profile has grown by leaps and bounds, with her Grandmaster Flash-sampling single “Players” landing in the top 10 of the Hot 100 and soundtracking the upcoming WNBA season.

She’s as popular now as she’s ever been, so the time is ripe for a new album, which she announced today on social media. Titled Coi, the album’s due on June 23 via Uptown Records and Republic, with features from David Guetta, Giggs, Lola Brooke, Saucy Santana, and Skillibeng. Her more recent singles, “Bops” and “My Body,” will also appear among the new album’s 15 tracks, which will run the gamut of genres from rap, rock, pop, reggae, and even dance, according to the press release. Check out the cover art below.

Coi’s been a hot topic of discussion lately, thanks in part to a mention from Latto’s new single “Put It On Da Floor.” After Coi took issue to having her name mentioned in the lyrics, she received a good-natured shout-out from Latto during the Atlanta rapper’s performance at Coachella. This not only ended their “beef,” but established that they appear to be on good terms. Still, that didn’t stop some fans — you know the ones — from speculating that the two rappers had gotten into a fistfight, although that rumor was quickly debunked. As they say, all publicity is good publicity, and Ms. Leray will have plenty heading into the roll out of her new album, which should out-sell her debut now that she’s got some momentum.

Coi is due 6/23 via Uptown and Republic. You can get more info here.

Coi Leray Works On Her Curves In A Waist Trainer, Poses Without Pants While Giving Album Update

2023 has already been a rollercoaster ride for Coi Leray, but she’s still got plenty in store for the final six months of the year. Things have been mostly positive thanks to the success of singles like “Players,” and more recently, “My Body” and “Bops.” Of course, there have been bouts of drama with other rap stars, such as her social media feud with Latto, which ultimately resulted in the 25-year-old popping off in a rant during her Something In The Water Festival set. Regardless of the lows, Leray has kept her head held high, and is clearly looking forward to the future.

It’s been little more than a year since she made her LP debut with Trendsetter, on which she connected with plenty of guests, including Nicki Minaj, Lil Durk, and Yung Bleu, across an impressive 20 tracks. According to her latest Instagram post, it might not be long until the arrival of the Boston baddie’s sophomore effort. At this time, it remains unclear who – if anyone – she plans to collaborate with on that.

Coi Leray is Gearing Up for Her Sophomore LP

“Happy, healthy, and ready to drop this mf album 💿,” Coi wrote in the caption of her upload late on Monday (May 15) night. In the accompanying photos, the 26-year-old looks comfortable and relaxed at home, sporting a waist trainer around her midsection to keep things looking toned and tight. She’s not wearing any pants, instead showing off her perky behind in what appears to be a pair of black panties worn under the trainer.

On her top half, the “Anxiety” artist wears a pastel purple and blue off-the-shoulder top, which barely hides her chest. Coi Leray Says The WNBA Is ‘More Than A Game’ In A New Season Preview

When Coi Leray dropped her new single “Players,” it occurred to several observers that it’d be the perfect tune for a partnership with the WNBA. Well, those observers were clearly onto something, as the song appears in a new preview for the 2023 season. Coi also appears via voiceover to detail all the ways the WNBA is “more than a game.”

“This league is a sisterhood,” she asserts. “It’s way more than just a game; it’s an empire — a fearless empire. More sideswiping steals: Check. We got hoops, drive, and passion. Easy! More buckets, extra sauce? Order up! More dimension-defying dimes, more dancing than a Saturday night — now this is what I call primetime.” As she speaks, highlights from past seasons of WNBA action play out with incredible VFX.

While “Players” has been a success for Coi, with multiple remixes including one featuring Busta Rhymes, the New Jersey rapper has continued to roll out new music, including the singles “Bops” and “My Body.” While she said the music industry is oversaturated, she’s clearly not afraid to mix it up, making sure she has plenty of opportunities to stand out.

Meanwhile, the WNBA is set for one of its biggest seasons to date after an exciting draft packed with college superstars (and a thrilling NCAA championship tournament that proved the power of women’s hoops) and a new television deal. A wild offseason saw some big names change cities and make splashy headlines, so more eyes than ever will be on the ever-growing league.

Coi Leray Confidently Discusses The ‘Over-Saturated’ Music Industry And Haters Of Her TikTok Popularity

Coi Leray took to Twitter this week to share her thoughts on the current music industry, which were basically that there are too many artists and hits now. With the rise of social media and TikTok especially, songs from rising artists are way more likely to become big sensations.

“The music industry is over saturated. Every song is a hit. Everybody is a star,” Leray wrote.

This led to someone pointing out that Leray’s dad is Benzino, so she might benefit from that saturation. She didn’t seem to think it was true, responding with just how much work she puts into the business: “Y’all buggen. My versatility, my stage presence . My stats. My collabs. My Brand Deals. Fashion Girl. I can dance. Sing. Rap. It’s fine if you don’t see it now. I’m in no rush for you to notice.”

“lol I’m that girl. Real life. Offline. In the booth. On the stage. On the red carpet. On the radio. Overseas. And that’s just what it is. Shout out to my b*tches who stay true to them selves and dgaf what nobody has to say!” she added in a separate tweet.

Some also replied back with thoughts about Leray’s oversaturation post, as her popularity skyrocketed through her songs going viral on TikTok. But she has a shot for that too. “How many people on TikTok went top 10 gobal? How many on TikTok had the amount of success I had with NMP , TWINNEM, BIG PURR, DDG IMPATIENT , plus soooo many more,” she quoted.

Coi Leray Speaks On Oversaturation In The Music Industry: “Every Song Is A Hit, Everybody Is A Star”

As she embarks upon the week of her 26th birthday, Coi Leray has a few things to get off of her chest. On Monday (May 8), the Trendsetter hitmaker used her Twitter profile to vent about the current status of the field she works in, writing, “The music industry is oversaturated. Every song is a hit. Everybody is a star.” Thousands of followers made it known they agree with the singer by liking or retweeting the post, but others didn’t hesitate to chime in with their opinions challenging Leray’s comments.

“Can’t help but think Coi benefited from said saturation,” one user pointed out, seemingly referring to the endless TikTok hits the Boston baddie has released throughout her career. “Valid message, wrong messenger,” their message concluded. On Tuesday (May 9) morning, Leray responded to that tweet, along with a few others. “Y’all [buggin],” she chiefly declared. “My versatility, my stage presence, my stats, my collabs, my brand deals,” the “Anxiety” artist quickly reminded readers of her various talents aside from crafting catchy tracks.

The Trendsetter Speaks Her Mind on Twitter

“[I’m a] fashion girl. I can dance, sing, [and] rap. It’s fine if you don’t see it now, I’m in no rush for you to notice,” Coi’s clap back continued. In another post that landed on her feed minutes later, she publicly hyped herself up even more as a reminder to any would-be haters that her confidence isn’t so easy to shake. “Lol, I’m that girl. Real life. Offline. In the booth, on the stage, on the red carpet. On the radio, overseas, and that’s just what it is, Leray noted. “Shout out to my bitches who stay true to themselves and [don’t give a f*ck] what nobody has to say!”

In later tweets, the soon-to-be birthday girl made it known that it’s all love, and she didn’t want to start drama with anyone. Rather, she’s reflecting on her achievements throughout the last year ahead of turning 26 on Thursday (May 11). Keep scrolling to read more from Coi Leray’s latest Twitter rant. Coi Leray Models Beautiful Black Lingerie In Flirtatious Car Photo Shoot

Coi Leray is still riding the high of her two latest singles, “My Body,” and “Bops,” arriving on DSPs this past weekend. Following the wild success she found with her first release of 2023, “Players,” the 25-year-old is hoping to go viral once again, not only for the catchy songs but also for the salacious content she’s been sharing on social media alongside them. We’ve seen plenty of videos that showcase Leray’s twerking skills and dance moves as her vocals blast in the background, as well as nearly-nude photoshoots that are certainly breaking necks (and her DMs).

Late on Thursday (May 4), we saw the Boston baddie’s Instagram feed light up with a new collection of photos. These ones show her modelling pretty black lingerie while posing alongside a car. Along with her sultry outfit, Leray also styled her shoulder-length black hair in a beautifully curled bob. She rocked an intense black liner to accentuate her brown eyes, and her glossy lips were painted with a pinky-nude colour. While the carousel starts out shielding most of her petite frame, in the second shot the singer sits back in the vehicle’s seat, letting her black slip dress ride up her thighs to expose tights worn underneath.

Coi Leray Continues to Tantalize the Internet

The third and final selection sees Leray outside the car once again, this time kneeling down by the front tire. She didn’t provide any caption to go along with her post, though the comment section is filled with plenty of praise and thirsty responses. “I picked the outfit y’all,” one fan joked. “Out child that [you] told me not to tell anyone about misses [you],” someone else wrote.

The influx of thirst traps comes shortly after Coi Leray found herself beefing with Latto on social media. On the latter’s “Put It On Da Floor” song, the Trendsetter artist felt targeted and body-shamed by her contemporary. This is nothing new for Coi, who’s regularly shared that hearing frequent comments about her thin frame can be difficult. Nevertheless, she continues to show off her self-love by sharing various photos and videos flaunting what she’s got, as well as turning her anger into creativity, as she did with her new “My Body” single. Revisit that below, and tap back in later for more pop culture news updates.

Reportedly, Coi Leray And Latto’s Teams Were Involved In An Altercation At The ‘Something In The Water’ Festival

Something In The Water festival was named in honor of founder Pharrell’s coastal hometown. However, fans are wondering if it was a prophecy. Over the gloomy weekend, music’s biggest names, including Skrillex, Jazmine Sullivan, Lil Uzi Vert, and more, headed to Virginia Beach, Virginia, to bring a ray of musical sunshine. Instead, it is being reported that there was a thunderous squabble between two artists on the lineup.

Despite having quashed their shortlived feud, according to social media, Coi Leray and members from Latto’s team were reportedly involved in an altercation at the festival. In a video captured on the event’s grounds, a group of individuals is engaged in what appears to be a brawl. Although the parties’ faces have not been confirmed, and neither party has issued a statement, fans claim that it is the musicians.

On the other hand, others quickly chimed in to repost a video of Latto at a local club appearance with the caption, “Latto and Coi Leray did not fight. This was Latto performing at a club last night. Stop being delusional and believing fake rumors.”

Based on the air being cleared after Latto’s second performance at Coachella, it is hard to believe this rumor has any truth.

Fake Video Of Coi Leray And Latto Fighting Goes Viral

On April 30, Twitter account @PoeBase shared a video two women fighting entertainment and gossip Twitter account Pop Base shared a video of two women fighting. The video, which contained a large TMZ watermark, was shared with the tweet “TMZ share muted video of Latto and Coi Leray fighting at Something In The Water Festival.” The account has been designed to parody the popular gossip account Pop Base.

The footage was not from TMZ or Something In The Water. Instead, the user behind @PoeBase had taken footage from wrestling promotion TNA Impact Wrestling, muted it, and added the TMZ watermark. The clip has quickly gone viral since being posted at 3:30am EDT. At the time of writing, it has garnered over 1 million views, nearly 6,000 likes, nearly 600 retweets, and over 700 quote tweets.

Fake Latto-Leray Fight Fools Fans, Irks Others

Part of the reason the footage has gone viral is that a number of people genuinely believe, or believed, that is real. The account is designed to mimic Pop Base as closely as Twitter allows. This air of credibility has helped fuel the tweet’s spread. The responses fall into three main categories – people who believe it’s real, people who get the joke, and people legitimately annoyed at what they think is the real Pop Base account. Furthermore, it’s just believable enough to be true, given the recent beef between Leray and Latto.

“Blocked because why are you spreading misinformation? It’s giving desperate” reads one reply. “This misinformation is strong with this one. Might have to block” reads another, who follows up with a link to their Spotify song “Go To Bed”. However, as mentioned, there are plenty of people who believe this is genuine footage. “I knew something was going to pop up off…..” reads one quote tweet. “Why is my coi fighting” reads another before tagging the actual Coi Leray. With Twitter moderation a mess, it’s easier than ever to pass off fake bullshit as the real deal on the internet. The tweet quickly received a pending Community Note to help fight the misinformation.
