Insane concert ticket prices have been the talk of the entertainment industry in recent months, but many Americans are more concerned with healthcare prices. Last week, hip-hop artists Fat Joe, French Montana, Rick Ross, and Busta Rhymes teamed up to perform at a “Power to the Patients” advocacy event in Washington DC, bringing awareness to significant issues in the American healthcare system.
The event was sponsored by “Power to the Patients,” a non-profit organization fighting for a more affordable and equitable healthcare system price transparency.
At the event, which was attended by cele French Montana stated that he was involved in the event because he didn’t think that people should be “blindsided” anymore by astronomical healthcare bills, saying that patients “needed prices up front” and that he hoped the event could help the American healthcare system “move forward.”
Rick Ross got on stage and said that people should know if they “gotta sell your house to save your parents” with regard to inconsistent hospital bills.
On the organization’s website, alongside a YouTube video about the subject, Fat Joe explained why he was passionate about the cause, writing:
“We have to change the healthcare system and hold hospitals and insurers accountable to provide more transparency on the price of care. They are charging way too much money and the bills are not even consistent. Somebody could get an MRI for $300 and someone right behind them could be paying thousands for the same MRI. Right now, millions across the country are being dragged into debt because they’re blindsided by the cost of these medical bills. Families are falling apart. People are losing their homes. People are getting bankrupted because of hospital bills and healthcare. Knowing prices is the only way we will be able to lower our costs in healthcare. So, we have to fight for the people. We all have to talk to our politicians and talk to everybody. It’s in the law that hospitals and insurers need to post prices and we all need to know this. I teamed up with Power to the Patients to educate our communities on their rights and help put an end to this injustice.”

Charlamagne Tha God has had his fair share of beef. Whether it’s Lil Kim, Chanel Westcoast, or the infamous Bird Man Uncle Charla has never strayed away from standing on business. However, rarely do we see a radio personality admit they were wrong. In a recent interview with Million Dollaz Worth of Game, Charlamagne opened up about his beef with rap legend Busta Rhymes. In July 2012, following the BET Awards, the two squared up at a party in Los Angeles, with the altercation making its way to headlines.
Not only that, photos of the incident surfaced online. The pics show the radio personality and Busta both being separated by their camps. According to Charlamagne Tha God, alongside his Breakfast Club co-host DJ Envy, he admitted he was being disrespectful as he broke down the ordeal. “Who ran down on me? Busta, Ma$e. Yeah, Busta ran down on me,” Charlamagne told the podcasters. “I was being disrespectful.” “But you know what it was, though, I’ll say this: I wanted to win so bad when we got The Breakfast Club anybody could get it.” While Charlamagne is no stranger to keeping that same energy, he had a different tune regarding his run-in with Busta Rhymes.
Additionally, Charlamagne Tha God admits his wrongdoing and goes into more detail as to what happened that night at the party. “So there was some people, and I apologize for this all the time, just because we have to hold our own icons in high regard. If we don’t respect our OGs, then nobody will,” he said in the interview. Charlamagne goes on to say the issues started when he gave the rap icon Donkey of the Day for rapping over Ye and Jay-Z’s “Otis” beat. Moreover, the radio personality admitted the freestyle was hard (it really was), he was just being an asshole and gave Busta Donkey of the Day for no reason.

Along with that, he goes on to say that him and Busta share some choice words. After calling the Hip-Hop legend “wack” the pair had to be separated quickly. Something In The Water Festival, the Pharrell-led shindig returning to Virginia Beach on April 28, has revealed the “final” lineup of the Pharrell’s Phriends headlining set. This year, the multitalented, nigh-ageless producer will be joined on stage by a cadre of blog-era faves and Golden Era influences. ASAP Rocky and M.I.A. will represent the former, while Native Tongues mainstays Busta Rhymes and De La Soul make up the latter. Meanwhile, the updated flyer promises even more surprise guests that “we can’t announce” yet, so it seems fans will want to stick around to find out who else shows up.
In the past, Pharrell’s Phriends have included frequent collaborators like Clipse, Justin Timberlake, NORE, and Q-Tip, as well as SZA. This year’s additions include artists who share Pharrell’s adventurous, experimental approach to music, as well as the artists who inspired him as a young, aspiring rapper. If we had to crown a remix queen following this weekend’s roster of new releases, it would undeniably be Coi Leray. The Boston-born rap star not only joined Sabrina Carpenter on the updated version of her “Nonsense” track, but she also came through with another must-hear collaboration of her own. Following David Guetta’s “Players (Remix)” from earlier this month, she tapped Busta Rhymes to join her on the same track, this one reimagined by DJ Saige.
“Create a block forever knowin’ my shit hot / Flirtin with a n*gga while twerkin’ on TikTok,” the lyrical legend raps on his verse. “Hurtin’ everything like we workin’ the pitch rock / Playin’ with the cooch like Penelope Pitstop.” Busta also joins Leray on the hook, throwing in some adlibs while she reminds listeners that “girls is players too.”
On the refrain, which many listeners will recognize from countless TikTok videos, the Trendsetter hitmaker sings, “Yeah, ’bout to catch another flight / Yeah, the apple bottom make him wanna bite / Yeah, I just wanna have a good night / I just wanna have a good night.” The original release of “Players” already has upwards of 150M streams on Spotify, and it’s entirely likely this new version will eventually grow to match that.
Leray seems to be gearing up for a big year of music, following her successful run in 2022. She shared “Anxiety” as her first single before teaming up with YungManny and Zubin on “Givenchy.” Following that came “Blick Blick” with Nicki Minaj, her debut album, and a slew of other songs including “Wasted,” “Fly Sh!t,” and “Hold Me Down” with 42 Dugg from CMG’s “Gangsta Art” album.
