Brooklyn Public Library Decorated With Jay-Z Lyrics

Jay-Z’s influence is as wide-reaching as any other rapper. Now his reach has come to a new unexpected but very welcome place. Fans first noticed yesterday when the Brooklyn Public Library was undergoing some changes. Now according to HipHopDX, they’re finished covering the front of the library with lyrics from various classic Jay-Z songs like “Smile,” “Encore,” and “Justify My Thug.” This isn’t just for decoration though. The library has a forthcoming exhibit that will serve as a “personal shrine” to Jay himself in his hometowns library. The library will reportedly be closed today as they prep for the exhibit to begin tomorrow.

Jay-Z’s range also extends to the world of TV. Yesterday, when the Emmy nominations were announced his name was among them. He was nominated for an award for directing Rihanna’s Superbowl Halftime show earlier this year. The 2022 Superbowl halftime show took home an Emmy award during last year’s ceremony and Roc Nation has the chance to go back-to-back at this year’s show. Because both the writer’s and actors’ guilds are currently on strike it’s unclear when exactly the Emmys will happen but whenever they do Jay could add a new trophy to his decorated history of award wins.

Jay-Z is also making waves in the business world with Roc Nation Sports. The company has made two big moves this week to try and enter the world of international soccer. Firstly, they acquired a major soccer agency in Brazil that represents some of the country’s biggest players. Just a few days later they reached a deal with Italy’s Serie A soccer league. The deal aims to promote Italian soccer across North America through the lens of Roc Nation.

Jay-Z hasn’t released a new studio album since 2017’s confessional 4:44. Despite that his music continues to be celebrated consistently. Just last week it was the 10th anniversary of his album Magna Carta… Holy Grail which had fans reflecting on the project. The rising Brooklyn rapper earned co-signs from Kim Kardashian, Cardi B, and a number of other A-listers. In the past few months, she’s unloaded a handful of new singles, which presumably will lead the campaign for a debut project. Today, however, she revisited her breakout hit and added some star power to the record. Alongside Yung Miami and Latto, Lola Brooke debuted the “Don’t Play With It (Remix)” earlier today. The drill-centric production becomes a perfect canvas for Latto to pop her sh*t and take aim at her detractors. What Yung Miami lacks in lyricism, she makes up for with her attitude, while doubling down on her singledom with Diddy’s approval.

Lola Brooke continues to keep the rap game on their toes for what she has in store but with “Don’t Play With It (Remix),” she’ll definitely keep the momentum high. The rapper recently dropped off her first single of the year, “So Disrespectful,” highlighting her sleek flow, deep voice, and quick-witted wordplay.

Lola Brooke revealed to HNHH that the title of her project is going to be titled, Little Big Momma. Though no release date has been set, she explained that she wants to ensure that her fanbase can appreciate everything that she offers on the body of work. “I know what they deserve,” she said. “They deserve everything but I need my fans to tell me what they need for me. It’s there, but it’s not all the way there yet. I need to still learn them as well as they learn me.” Check the remix above.

NYPD Search for Brooklyn Man Who Smashed Restaurant Door and Stabbed Ex-Girlfriend

A man in Brooklyn launched a chair through the glass door of a restaurant, then stabbed his ex-girlfriend before fleeing the scene.

According to The New York Daily News, the man is currently being searched for by the NYPD.

The man has been identified as Rakien Figueroa, who threw the chair through the CAVA restaurant in downtown Brooklyn. The event happened at 7:50 a.m., and the restaurant was not yet open.

Figueroa reportedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend multiple times before fleeing the scene. The woman was transferred to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
