Joe Budden Breaks Down His Favorite Bars On Drake’s “Fighting Irish Freestyle”

Joe Budden broke down Drake’s newest release, “Fighting Irish Freestyle,” during a recent episode of his podcast, weighing in on a rift between the Toronto rapper and LeBron James. “Talkin’ ’bout we family, well, I’m not the cousin to visit / God forbid we ever got to tarnish your public image / All that brother talk as if I really discovered a sibling,” Drake raps on the song. Analyzing those lyrics, the crew debated whether he was referring to DeMar DeRozan or LeBron James. “If it is about LeBron, that’s a funny bar. Why would you say that? I don’t think he would ever do that,” Budden said.

Budden then went on to share what he feels is the “funniest bar” from the track. Fast-forwarding, Drake finishes the song by rapping: “The Dennis James come out when the vodka is floodin’ my system / I don’t have a drinkin’ problem, I got a subtle addiction / I got my father’s habits and I got my mother’s permission / My dad has another child, I told him that wasn’t my sister.” Bursting into laughter, Budden remarks: “That’s hilarious. That’s funny.”

Budden also discussed the idea of Drake allegedly having a daughter, saying: “I don’t give a f*ck about Drake’s daughter that y’all looking for or Dennis’ grandkid. I don’t care. This witchhunt that y’all on– even if you find them, I don’t care. It’s over. It’s 2025. I’m not Drake-Kendricking my 2025. They gotta do something new.”

SOURCE SPORTS: Cavaliers Snap Thunder’s Streak, Win 129-122 in Historic Thriller

In a clash of NBA titans, the Cleveland Cavaliers edged the Oklahoma City Thunder 129-122 on Wednesday, halting OKC’s franchise-record 15-game win streak while extending their own to 11 games. The game marked the first time in league history that two teams from different conferences with .850+ win percentages faced off this late in the season.

The back-and-forth thriller featured eight ties and 30 lead changes, the second-most in a game this year. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with a game-high 31 points, while Jalen Williams added 25. Cleveland’s balanced attack, however, proved decisive, with Jarrett Allen posting 25 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and three steals and Evan Mobley adding 21 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.

The Cavaliers, now 32-4, became just the seventh team in NBA history to start a season with such a record. Allen and Mobley also made history as the first Cavs teammates to each record 20+ points, 10+ rebounds, and 5+ assists in a game since LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in 2017.

Cleveland sealed the win with a clutch fourth quarter, outscoring OKC 13-6 in the final minutes and holding the Thunder scoreless over the last two. Donovan Mitchell’s second-quarter dunk helped the Cavs lead at halftime, while an electrifying 84-point third quarter—where both teams scored 40+—set up the dramatic finish.

“It felt like a battle the whole night,” said Allen. “At the end, it came down to which team had more effort.”

Cardi B Accused of Silencing Blogger Tasha K Amid Ongoing Legal Dispute

The long-standing feud between Cardi B and blogger Tasha K has taken another contentious turn. Tasha K, who owes Cardi $3.9 million in damages following a 2019 defamation lawsuit, has accused the Bronx rapper of attempting to silence her as part of their ongoing legal battles.

According to documents obtained by HipHopDX and first reported by TMZ, Tasha K filed claims in federal bankruptcy court on Tuesday (January 7), alleging that Cardi is not acting in her economic interest but rather attempting to end both her bankruptcy case and her career. This development follows Cardi’s move in December to have Tasha’s bankruptcy case dismissed, a move the blogger claims is a tactic to stifle her voice.

Tasha’s Accusations

In her filing, Tasha alleges that Cardi’s efforts are driven by an overarching attempt to impose restrictions on her First Amendment rights. Specifically, she points to Cardi’s insistence on a non-disparagement clause that Tasha argues is so broad it would effectively derail her career.

“She seeks to sabotage Debtor’s Career through unreasonable restrictions on her First Amendment rights,” Tasha’s filing reads. “Having failed to bully Debtor into accepting an overarching non-disparagement clause, Claimant filed the Motion to Dismiss to harm Debtor’s Career and end Debtor’s bankruptcy case.”

Tasha K filed for bankruptcy in 2023, citing the multi-million-dollar judgment Cardi won in the defamation case. Cardi’s legal team has accused Tasha and her husband of orchestrating a “months-long scheme to hinder, delay, and defraud” efforts to collect the owed money.

Cardi B’s Response

Cardi B’s legal actions stem from the 2019 lawsuit, which she filed after claiming Tasha K ran a smear campaign filled with false and malicious statements about her. The judgment awarded Cardi significant damages, but the YouTuber has yet to pay the full amount. Cardi’s legal team has argued that the dismissal of Tasha’s bankruptcy case is essential to ensuring justice and payment.

While the legal battle continues, Cardi B is also focusing on her music. The rapper has been hard at work on her highly anticipated sophomore album, reportedly taking extreme measures to ensure it meets her high standards. Despite the distractions of legal disputes, Cardi remains committed to delivering for her fans.

What’s Next?

The court’s decision on whether to dismiss Tasha K’s bankruptcy case will have significant implications for both parties. For Cardi B, it could mean finally collecting the damages awarded to her. For Tasha K, it could spell further restrictions on her career and freedom of speech.

The Palisades Fire Destroyed The Malibu Studio Where Nicki Minaj Recorded ‘Pink Friday 2’

2025 is off to a tragic start for Southern California, as a series of wildfires in the Los Angeles area have been burning and causing significant destruction for the past couple days now. The Los Angeles Times reports this morning (January 9) that over 2,000 buildings have been destroyed so far, and one of them is Malibu’s Harbor Studios, where Nicki Minaj recorded Pink Friday 2 and Doja Cat worked on Scarlet (as Billboard notes).

Yesterday, studio founder Zach Brandon shared a photo of the building’s burned remains on Instagram.

He wrote in part, “Named after one of the most important memories from my childhood, Harbor Studios quickly grew from a big, dreamy concept to a beloved staple in the recording industry. I cried this morning, but not because Harbor burned down. I cried because it settled in with me that Harbor was taken from so many artists who cared so deeply about Harbor. It was a place of musical freedom… a sanctuary in the most literal sense of the word. I loved it.”

Read the full text from Brandon’s post below.

“I am profoundly sad to announce that Harbor Studios has been lost to the Palisades Fire. Harbor has been a staple in the music community since the 1990s – first, it was the recording studio for Joe Zawinul and his world famous Jazz Fusion group, “The Weather Report”. Then, in 2008, it became the home studio for esteemed film composer Paul Dinletir, where he worked on compositions for movies like Avatar, Avengers, and other record setting movies. Finally, in 2021, it became Harbor Studios. Named after one of the most important memories from my childhood, Harbor Studios quickly grew from a big, dreamy concept to a beloved staple in the recording industry.

I cried this morning, but not because Harbor burned down. I cried because it settled in with me that Harbor was taken from so many artists who cared so deeply about Harbor. It was a place of musical freedom… a sanctuary in the most literal sense of the word. I loved it.

I started Harbor from the ground, and since its official opening in 2022, it has grown into something I never could have even tried to conceptualized. I have had the luxury of working with the world’s best and brightest artists, managers, and label execs, plus the best assistants, day to day managers, and other support staff. I have been fortunate to make enough great memories for a coffee table book, and most importantly, I have developed the most fulfilling relationships and friendships I’ve ever had, both from a career standpoint and a personal one.

This is not the end of Harbor. We are restarting from scratch (again)… nothing we haven’t done before. Not only that, but I have gained so much knowledge and experience from Harbor 1 that I will be implementing into the rebuild. I’ve taken the initial steps forward – the original studio builder and I have already begun planning what the new Harbor Studios is going to look like. Thankfully, the magic that has been bestowed upon us by our clients is something that can never leave. It’s in the soil, it’s in the air, and it’s in our souls.

We will come back stronger from this.”

Queen Tahj Brings Black Masking Culture to Super Bowl LIX Through Stunning Art

Queen Tahj Brings Black Masking Culture to Super Bowl LIX Through Stunning Art

The NFL has announced that renowned New Orleans artist Tahj “Queen Tahj” Williams has made history as the first-ever artist to handcraft both the Super Bowl logo and theme art for Super Bowl LIX. Queen Tahj’s designs bring the vibrant culture of New Orleans to life, blending her Black Masking heritage with the electric energy of the Super Bowl.

Queen Tahj, a member of the Golden Eagles Tribe, is celebrated for her intricate, hand-sewn beadwork—a hallmark of Black Masking culture. Rooted in the rich connections between African and Native American traditions, Black Masking originated as a backstreet celebration during Mardi Gras when African Americans were excluded from mainstream festivities. Queen Tahj’s artistry preserves this tradition while infusing it with fresh, modern creativity.

“This partnership is a dream come true and an opportunity to share the beauty of Black Masking culture with the world,” said Queen Tahj. “Being the only girl and captain of my middle school football team, football has played a tremendous role in my life by teaching me to me to focus on my dreams without worrying about what society thinks is for girls or boys. It’s the same spirit of determination that shapes my work today. Just as the NFL connects communities around the world through football, I hope my work brings people together to celebrate the history of New Orleans and inspires future generations to keep our traditions alive.”

Her Super Bowl theme art features bold pinks, deep reds, chartreuses, and lush greens, symbolizing the vibrancy of New Orleans. This hand-sewn beadwork will be showcased on digital game tickets, the official program cover, and the exterior of the Hyatt Regency New Orleans during the week-long celebrations, allowing locals and visitors alike to experience the city’s culture on a grand stage.

“We knew from the start that we wanted this year’s theme art to capture the essence of New Orleans,” said Marissa Solis, NFL senior vice president of global brand and consumer marketing. “Queen Tahj’s deep connection to her community and extraordinary talent made her the perfect artist for this project. Her work authentically honors the cultural roots of New Orleans while celebrating the city’s vibrant spirit, and we’re excited to spotlight it on the Super Bowl stage and honor the communities that make New Orleans so special.”

The NFL’s partnership with Queen Tahj highlights its commitment to celebrating local heritage and giving the New Orleans community a place in the global spotlight. Super Bowl LIX will take place on Feb. 9, 2025, at Caesars Superdome, with Queen Tahj’s groundbreaking artwork central to the historic event.

Jahmyr Gibbs (Offense)

Kendrick Lamar Dominates YouTube Charts with Tracks from ‘GNX’

Kendrick Lamar’s sixth studio album, GNX, is making waves on the charts, with four tracks landing on the US Top Songs list. Leading the charge is “tv off” featuring Lefty GunPlay at #5, while “squabble up” follows at #13. The SZA collaboration “luther” holds strong at #29, and “wacced out murals” rounds out the entries at #68.

Adding to his success, Lamar’s fiery diss track “Not Like Us,” stemming from his lyrical battle with Drake, secures the #6 spot. His ability to blend sharp lyricism with compelling narratives continues to resonate with listeners.

Last week, twelve tracks from Lana, the deluxe edition of SZA’s SOS album, have surged onto Billboard’s Hot R&B Songs chart, with “30 for 30,” her collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, debuting at No. 1. The song amassed 17.5 million official U.S. streams, an airplay audience of 385,000, and 2,000 digital song downloads during the tracking week of December 20–26, according to Luminate.

This marks SZA’s seventh chart-topping hit on the Hot R&B Songs chart, breaking a tie with Rihanna for the most No. 1s by a woman since the chart’s inception in October 2012. The record-setting achievement underscores SZA’s continued dominance in the R&B genre and her ability to captivate audiences with her poignant storytelling and emotive delivery.
