Damon Dash’s Jewelry Collection May Be Auctioned to Cover Debts

Dame Dash Says He Was Hyped to Hear His Name on "Ether"

Damon Dash, co-founder of the legendary Roc-A-Fella Records, continues to grapple with escalating financial and legal challenges. In the latest twist, his jewelry collection could be heading to the auction block as part of efforts to satisfy over $823,000 in outstanding judgments.

The legal drama stems from a lawsuit brought by director Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures LLC, who secured judgments against Dash for $823,284.71. According to court documents obtained by All Hip Hop, the plaintiffs have petitioned Judge Robert Lehrburger in the Southern District of New York to enforce the judgments by seizing and auctioning Dash’s personal assets, including his jewelry and corporate ownership stakes.

Court Ordered Action

The plaintiffs are requesting the court order Dash to produce corporate ownership documents for several of his business ventures—Lebanon Improvements LLC, Ocean East Improvements LLC, 1996 Songs LLC, and Blackroc LLC—and turn them over to the U.S. Marshal. Additionally, they are seeking approval to auction off Dash’s jewelry, which has been prominently displayed on his social media accounts.

Among the items listed for potential sale are:

  • A gold necklace
  • A gold “Dame” necklace
  • A gold “Dusko” necklace
  • A gold watch
  • Three gold rings
  • Two Roc-A-Fella necklaces
  • One set of diamond earrings
  • One set of gold earrings

Legal Basis for Auction

The plaintiffs argue that New York law permits the enforcement of money judgments against personal property, including jewelry, corporate shares, and other transferable assets. They cited Dash’s promotion of his Roc-A-Fella shares and jewelry as evidence of his ownership and the assets’ market value.

Dash has faced numerous financial challenges in recent years. Earlier attempts to sell his share of Roc-A-Fella Records reportedly failed to cover his mounting debts. Now, with corporate ownership stakes and high-value jewelry on the line, Dash’s remaining assets could soon be sold to satisfy his creditors.

Public Auction Looming

If the court grants the plaintiffs’ request, Dash’s collection of iconic jewelry, including pieces associated with the Roc-A-Fella legacy, could be sold at a public auction. This move underscores the financial pressure on one of hip-hop’s most influential figures, whose contributions to the culture helped define an era.

Thoughts?

Trae Tha Truth Finds His Missing Daughter At Mexican Border

Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth began the new year with an emotional reunion, finding his 6-year-old daughter, Truth, after she had been missing for four months. Speaking to TMZ Hip Hop, Trae revealed the chain of events that led to this joyful yet dramatic conclusion.

On New Year’s Day at 8 a.m., Trae received a call informing him that his ex—the mother of his daughter—had been arrested in El Centro, California, near the U.S.-Mexico border, on charges of child endangerment. Wasting no time, Trae booked the next flight from Texas to San Diego and then drove over 100 miles to the small border town to reunite with Truth.

According to Trae, his ex will soon be extradited to Texas, while he has already returned home with his daughter.

The ordeal began in August when Trae dropped Truth off for what was supposed to be a two-day visitation with her mother in Houston. However, the visit turned into a nightmare when the mother never returned their child. Trae alleged that his ex had been moving Truth between various locations with assistance from her grandmother and others, making it difficult for him to locate his daughter.

The reunion marks the end of a long and challenging journey for Trae Tha Truth, who now has Truth safely back by his side.

Boldy James And RichGains Expose Fans To “Murder During Drug Traffic”

Boldy James’ rap style is an acquired taste for some. Its conversational yet persistent. He sounds like he has a lot to get off his chest, but never sounds rushed or panicked. Some have even described his voice as monotone. But his bars, and his consistency, cannot be denied. When Boldy James is paired with the right producer, he can’t miss. RichGains is an example of the right producer. These two joined forces for the new album Murder During Drug Traffic, and it’s a smooth, stylish piece of boom bap that genre fans will adore.

The mood for Murder During Drug Traffic is masterfully set on the opener, “Achilles.” Boldy James drops a series of contemplative verses over a pitched up vocal sample. The beat and Boldy’s bars meld for an emotional and head-bobbing experience. The rest of the album follows suit. “Janky” sees Boldy James ride an absolute gem of a jazz sample from RichGains. “Days Go By” and “Made Men” experiment with stranger sounds and vocal samples, but Boldy James’ unimpeachable flow keeps the album consistent and coherent. There’s not a single bad song on Murder During Drug Traffic. All we can do is enjoy and hope Boldy and RichGains decided to team up again.

Lil Baby, Future And Young Thug Are “Dum, Dumb And Dumber” On New Single

Lil Baby built up lots of anticipation for his new album, WHAM. Fans were eager to see whether it would live up to the hype. That said, “Dum, Dumb and Dumber” was the most anticipated song. Lil Baby getting back together with Future and a finally-freed Young Thug was an event. Fortunately, the song lived up to the anticipation. “Dum, Dumb and Dumber” is a skeletal and catchy banger with standout verses from all three superstars. Lil Baby does his thing on the opening verse, but truth be told, he gets overshadowed by his guests.

Young Thug sounds absolutely invigorated on his first new verse since being released from jail. He makes reference to being locked up, but quickly launches into a smooth verse. Thugger has not lost a step despite his legal problems, and his hunger to spit is undeniable. Future anchors the back end of the song and keeps the energy high. Pluto has been on an absolute roll over the last year, and he keeps his momentum going with a frenetic verse that’s so catchy it sounds like a chorus at times. Lil Baby does his thing all over WHAM, but Thugger and Future are the standouts on this cut. One of the first great songs of 2025.

Lil Baby’s Dismissive ‘F U 2X’ Video Sets The Tone For His 2025 As He Releases ‘WHAM (Who Hard As Me)’

Lil Baby’s new album WHAM (Who Hard As Me) is out now, and with it, the video for the dismissive single, “F U 2X.” While 2024 was a relatively quiet year for Lil Baby, it looks like he’s carrying a bit of the combative energy from last year into the new one, with lyrics teasing his enemies with flagrant taunts. “Claim to be a player, but I fu*cked your wife,” he sneers on the chorus. “You ain’t nothin’ to a real hitter, f*ck your life up… Middle fingers in the air, f*ck ya twice.”

The new album — Baby’s first since 2022’s It’s Only Me — also sees the reunion of the Atlanta rapper with his mentor Young Thug after the latter’s release from Fulton County Jail. Thug was locked up for the past two years fighting racketeering charges; in October, he pled “no contest” to one charge, accepting a deal that would give him a truly ridiculous probation term, but ultimately allow him to go home. He, Lil Baby, and Future all reunite on the WHAM track “Dum, Dumb & Dumber.”

Ahead of his album’s release, Baby noted that it would be one of two full-length projects this year.

Lil Baby Drops His Best Album To Date With Hard-Hitting “WHAM”

Lil Baby has been hyping up the release of WHAM for quite some time. It’s the sort of instantly catchy title that screams definitive album. Lil Baby has flat out stated that WHAM is his best album to date on his Safe Place Podcast appearance. Well, the album is finally here, and Baby made good on his word. WHAM is the most consistent and compelling batch of songs the rapper has released, and a lot of it comes down to his improved song craft. The opener, “Listen Up,” is the sort of epic and emotional opener one would expect from a Drake, right down to the 40-esque production.

Don’t worry, though, Lil Baby gives fans the bangers they’ve been wanting. “Dum, Dumb and Dumber” is a stellar posse cut featuring Future and a newly-freed Young Thug. Baby and GloRilla prove to have great chemistry on the propulsive duet “Redbone,” while Rod Wave adds soulful grit to the ballad “By Myself.” Lil Baby is pushing himself artistically here, without sacrificing his baseline appeal as an artist. It’s a fine line, but he manages to pull it off. Solo cuts like “Stiff Gang” and “Say Twin” are equal parts compelling and menacing, catering to day one Baby fans. WHAM has something for everybody, and it solidifies Lil Baby as one of the biggest (non-crossover) stars in the genre.

Young Thug Officially Returns To The Spotlight On Lil Baby’s ‘Dum, Dumb And Dumber’ With Future

The past couple of years have had a decided dearth of new music from Young Thug. That’s understandable, considering he was incarcerated while enduring a trial for racketeering. The length of his trial — the longest in Georgia history — was miserable for Thug fans, who had to be satisfied with Business Is Business, which was cobbled together without him.

He’s officially free now, though, and returns with a vengeance on “Dum, Dumb And Dumber,” the latest single from Lil Baby’s upcoming album, WHAM (Who Hard As Me), which also rejoins the two rappers with fellow ATLien Future. All three are in top form, but it’s Thug who sounds truly rejuvenated, insisting that he never even felt like he was ever locked up. Still, he sounds relieved to be back on the streets, rapping with all the passion and slippery delivery fans have come to expect from him.

It’s also a great look for Lil Baby, who is hunting for a bounce back after the lukewarm reception of his 2022 album, It’s Only Me. It’s also bittersweet — pun intended — because of who isn’t included on the single: the fourth leg of the increasingly unlikely Super Slimey 2.

Drake Shocks Fans By Dropping Snippets Of Three New Songs

Drake has promised lots of music. The rapper has been dropping multiple hints about release dates, whether it be for his next solo album or his joint tape with PARTYNEXTDOOR. There was no music to support this rumor, though, until Thursday night. Three snippets surfaced online, and one of them had a PARTYNEXTDOOR feature. It’s obvious these songs are intended for upcoming Drake albums, but this is the first time we’ve heard focused 6 God music since the Kendrick Lamar battle.

The first snippet sees Drake rap over a midtempo trap instrumental. He’s addressing a woman in classic Drake fashion, and the instrumental sounds like the first part of “Waiting for You.” The cadence and flow is even similar. The second snippet features PARTYNEXTDOOR, and is more in the classic R&B vibe that fans are expecting from their joint tape. Drake and PND croon about putting rocks up on women’s fingers and lamenting the fact that they made them cry. Heartbreak Drake, cut and dry. The third snippet is the most intriguing. Drizzy is rapping aggressive over a glitchy, almost rage beat reminiscent of his song with Yeat, “Daylight.”

Drake Has Been Working On New Solo Material

The leaks only last about ten seconds each. That said, they give fans a good impression of where the rapper is at, and what he plans to release. Drake has seemingly been struggling to find a direction after the legendary K. Dot battle. It’s nice to hear him settling back into a focused, musical bag independent of what transpired with him and Compton’s finest. It’s also interesting that two of the three snippets were, or at least appear to be, solo cuts. We’re all expecting to get his PARTYNEXTDOOR collab soon, but it’s obvious from these songs that he has a solo album in the works as well.

The hype for the PND collab album is real. Drake recently discussed the album during a live stream event with Adin Ross. He assured the streamer, and the fans, that he’s tremendously proud of what him and his OVO brother have created. It’s the “best that both of us has to offer,” Drake explained. He also told Ross that the album is “pretty much done.” Hopefully the snippets are an indicator that we are getting the PND collab sooner than later.
