Cardi B Claps Back At Fans’ Criticisms Of Her Calling Herself “Light-Skinned”

Cardi B is always responding to narratives around her online, whether it concerns her new album or an inappropriate setting for a maternity shoot. Regardless, she will always combat misconceptions and criticisms of her with the same fire, as well as with the will to improve and admit her wrongs when necessary. But in this case, the Bronx femcee doesn’t understand the hate. Moreover, a lot of fans started a debate around whether or not she has the right to call herself “light-skinned” as the daughter of a Dominican father and Trinidadian mother. Cardi quickly dismissed these assumptions, defending her self-identification and explaining why it’s valid.

“Who tf told Cardi B she’s light skin? That term is used for lighter complexion black folks but y’all got everybody claiming it now,” one fan posited. “Dominicans are so diverse when it comes to skin color,” she clapped back. “Dark ,brown ,tan, light ,white ….sooo what am I supposed to say when I’m describing my complexion…Im Dominican skin ?” “idk maybe y’all need to come up with yall own terms.. ‘light skinned’ is used to describe BLACK people. Not whites, Dominicans, Mexicans, Asians… BLACKS!! You can’t just use the word to mean whatever you want it to mean chica,” another fan suggested.

Cardi B Defends Her “Light-Skinned” Identity

“what you saying is automatically invalid,” Cardi B responded. “The fact that you use whites … WHITES IS A COLOR AND A RACE ..DOMINICANS ARE A NATIONALITY WITH PEOPLE that are different COLORS AND SHADES ..NOT A RACE … Get your glitter hole out of here wit this fake rule you just came up wit.” “The term light skin is adjective to describe skin complexion…” she shared in another tweet. “It is not exclusive to a single race …l guess Jamaicans and Haitians and West Indians can’t say they got brown skin ,light skin or dark skin because just like Dominicans they are also a nationality..now move JAWS.”

Meanwhile, Cardi B shared some exciting news with fans recently that has nothing to do with Twitter clap-backs. “Album still sellin like good quality p***y,” she responded to news of her selling over 500,000 album units in the United States. “….OKAY OKAY let me stop playing and drop this second album.”

Pusha T Explains How Kanye West Took “Follow God” Away From Clipse

Pusha T and Kanye West have a very complicated relationship, and one that isn’t very amicable right now. Still, that doesn’t mean that they can’t look back on their extensive history, even if some of these reflections indicate more contentious moments. For example, Push and his brother No Malice spoke to Rolling Stone ahead of their upcoming reunion album as Clipse. During this conversation, they recalled pulling up to Wyoming in the late 2010s to work with Ye on his upcoming material, which included a self-titled 2018 album, Pusha’s own solo LP, and the Chicago artist’s 2019 project Jesus Is King.

Furthermore, this was the first time that Clipse worked together in almost ten years, but according to Pusha T, it was frustrating. Kanye West would allegedly “nix” Pusha’s ideas, but there was a lot of back-and-forth inspiration. One instance was when he and No Malice recorded over the “Follow God” beat, a song that eventually became a solo cut on Jesus Is King. “He gave us the beat. Forgot about the beat. We working on the records,” Pusha explained. “We laid [vocals] to it,” NM recalled. “Kanye was like, ‘I need that back,’” the “Nosetalgia” spitter added.

Of course, we all know that Clipse eventually reunited on Jesus Is King‘s “Use This Gospel” alongside Kanye West and Kenny G. As for their next moves, Pusha T and No Malice are just waiting on one feature for their new album Let God Sort Em Out before it drops later this year. “I’m so excited about this new Clipse album,” Push told the Ghetto Runways podcast recently. “That’s what I’m on right now. It’s absolutely finished. Just waiting on a feature. Just waiting on a feature, bro, just one feature.”

Meanwhile, Pusha T recently explained why Kanye West still collaborates a lot despite his volatile and bigoted ways as of late. “I believe that there’s a level of visibility that comes along with being next to somebody like Ye,” he told Complex. “At the end of the day, it’s a level of musicality and genius-level production that comes along with being next to him. So you get a lot of things that I think artists are looking for these days in being next to him. It’s all about the music for me and just making music at a certain level. I’ve been in this game a long time, so it’s about a certain type of hip-hop that I want to make. And truthfully, Ye definitely knows what I like to make, and I only want to be a part of things that I want to do.”

Megan Thee Stallion Says She ‘Don’t Know What the Problem Is’ Between Her and Nicki Minaj

Megan Thee Stallion’s Foundation Launches Emergency Power Program with Bread of Life Inc.

Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj let shots ring off at each other earlier this year. Minaj dropped “Big Foot,” Thee Stallion clapped at Minaj with “Hiss.” But what started this beef? Thee Stallion doesn’t know.

In a new cover story with Billboard, Hot Girl Meg spoke about mending the once-positive relationship.

“I still to this day don’t know what the problem is,” Thee Stallion said. “I don’t even know what could be reconciled because I, to this day, don’t know what the problem is.”

Megan Thee Stallion is set to make a powerful return to the MTV stage as both host and performer at the 2024 VMAs, airing live on Wednesday, September 11th at 8 PM ET/PT from New York’s UBS Arena. Amid a remarkable year highlighted by her new album, MEGAN, and her global “Hot Girl Summer Tour,” Megan promises an unforgettable performance that will be a must-see.

The 2-time winner and 24-time nominee is up for seven nominations this year, including “Best Collaboration” with GloRilla and “Best Hip Hop,” a category she last won in 2020 for “Savage.” Megan also earned nods in “Song of the Summer” and “Best Trending Video” for her hit “MAMUSHI” featuring Yuki Chiba, which recently topped Spotify’s Global Viral chart in Japan.

Last year, Megan and Cardi B set the VMAs stage on fire with their debut of “BONGOS.” This year, the 3-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artist looks to continue her unstoppable streak.

Following her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “HISS,” the Houston native remains a dominant force, with her latest album, MEGAN, featuring collaborations with Victoria Monet, UGK, and more. As Megan returns to the VMAs, all eyes will be on her to see if she adds more Moon Persons to her collection.
