Michigan rapper BabyTron has been enjoying increased buzz around his career in the last couple of years. His unusual flow and beat selection makes him stand out among his peers. So much so that he appeared on “Tobey” earlier this year, which was a track with Eminem and Big Sean. The song landed on The Death Of Slim Shady. After securing the biggest placement of his young career, Tron is back on his solo path. On July 31, he dropped “Clownin’,” the latest single in another characteristically prolific year for the rapper, who’s already released two mixtapes this year.
In true BabyTron fashion, “Clownin’” has a beat that heavily samples circus music. Like many new rappers coming out of the revitalized Michigan scene, he enjoys going over obscure samples and other sounds that most artists would be uninterested in attempting to tackle. The beat contrasts with his delivery and lyrical content, with Tron dropping several punchlines in quick succession. “Fully switch’ll turn his hoopty to a unicycle / Huntin’ for an opp, no, not a deer, I ever shoot a rifle” is an early one, but there are many others over the two-minute track. BabyTron has not announced plans for a new album yet. His two mixtapes, Case Dismissed and Mario & Luigi would probably be enough for most fans. However, he released three projects last year, so a third coming before the end of 2024 would not be a particularly surprising outcome. Check out the track below.

Young Thug hasn’t had a ton of luck as of late, as he continues to battle RICO charges in a highly publicized trial. Earlier this week, a judge denied his request for release on bond. “I am not going to reconsider any bond issues that have already been ruled on absent legitimate changed circumstances,” she declared.
The judge in question was Paige Reese Whitaker, who was assigned to the case last month after two other judge’s recusals. While the rapper may not be seeing an end to his long-winded legal battle anytime soon, he’s got at least one thing going for him, his relationship with Mariah The Scientist. The Atlanta-born songstress was recently spotted supporting him in court, wearing a smile as she looked on from her seat.
Mariah has never shown any signs of straying from the relationship amid Young Thug’s incarceration. She opened up about her dedication in an interview last year, making it clear that she’s here to stay. “I feel like, and this is in all honesty, there is nobody on planet Earth that can get between me and supporting my man,” she told Access Atlanta. “I’m sorry, it’s just not gonna happen.”
Mariah has since been hard at work cheering Young Thug on from the outside. She’s also dealt with her own legal issues in recent months, however. In May, she was arrested for her alleged role in a brawl at a local club. She was later charged with simple battery and pleaded not guilty in July. Her lawyer Brian Steel also demanded a jury trial, and Mariah has maintained her innocence. What do you think of Mariah The Scientist continuing to support Young Thug amid his ongoing RICO trial? Ice Spice is the talk of the town on the Internet these days for all the right and wrong reasons, although they all inform each other to some degree. For example, while some folks are debating what they thought about her new album Y2K, others think that the heavy rollout for the project is indicating a more personal change in her life. Moreover, a lot of fans think that the Bronx femcee is rapidly losing weight, and her latest Instagram post showing off her tiny waist is yet another indicator of that for some users out there.
While plenty of people think she’s just hitting the gym or don’t really care whether or not she’s losing weight, others are more concerned with what they see as a very fast process or are unhappy with how folks are speaking on the matter so casually. Furthermore, Ice Spice hasn’t really directly addressed this conversation outright at press time, so we don’t think that she minds it too much or else we would’ve heard something by now. But at the end of the day, this is just a lot of social media gossip that should hopefully be moot in the face of whatever personal goals and lifestyle choices she has for herself either way.
What’s more is that this isn’t even the most contentious part of Ice Spice’s public-facing persona right now, as Y2K got its fair share of hate from rap fans. Nevertheless, her opening tour show in Washington, D.C. seemed to be quite the packed and energetic affair, so we’re sure that this will drown out a lot of the negativity behind this album cycle. Also, we can’t rule out a critical reevaluation down the line, even if we doubt that would arrive anytime soon. At least it’s more understandable and less invasive to critique art rather than a waistline.
Meanwhile, Ice Spice has a lot of other narratives to address, like her recent comments on her at-arm’s-length-relationship with Nicki Minaj. In the weeks and months following Y2K, we’re sure we will get plenty of more reflections on this era and what her headspace is looking like. But maybe this fan speculation over supposed weight loss won’t be a part of those conversations. Perhaps it’s best for fans to just mind their own business before speculating on someone else’s.
It’s no secret that Bobbi Althoff has come a long way since The Really Good Podcast blew up. The internet personality has sat down with some major celebrities for interviews, like Shaq, YG, Jimmy Kimmel, and many more. Of course, her viral conversation with Drake is what kicked things off, and she hasn’t slowed down since.
Most recently, she chatted with NLE Choppa, and things got a lot more serious than one might expect. The 21-year-old performer is known for his raunchy lyrics and wild antics, but evidently, he’s also able to get deep when the situation calls for it. At one point in their discussion, Althoff revealed that she once attempted suicide when she was only 14 years old, prompting him to talk about some of his own past issues.
“I tried to kill myself when I was 14,” she shared. NLE Choppa then revealed that he too has struggled with his mental health in the past. “I didn’t really give a f*ck about life at 14,” he said. “I think both is valid… I’m so glad you didn’t do that because look at you now.” Luckily, it appears as though Althoff is in a much better place these days, despite whatever obstacles might be thrown her way.
Since her rise to fame, for example, she’s been subject to nasty and unsubstantiated rumors that she sleeps with her podcast guests. She promptly shut these down last month, however, also addressing ongoing speculation about her divorce and family life. What do you think of Bobbi Althoff opening up about her struggles with mental health during a recent conversation with NLE Choppa? What about him sharing his own past issues? LL Cool J has snubbed a number of artists, including JAY-Z, Kanye West and DMX while listing the names on his Mount Rushmore of Def Jam Recordings acts.
JPEGMAFIA released his latest album, I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU early Thursday morning. The album is his first since SCARING THE HOES, his 2023 collaboration with Danny Brown. It is his first solo release since LP! in 2021. His latest effort features an appearance from frequent collaborator Denzel Curry, on the song “JPEGULTRA!” It also features his first collaboration with Vince Staples, on the track “New Black History.” The song, which is produced by JPEGMAFIA himself and electronic producer Flume, is in line with his trademark sound. It’s quirky, opening with a sample of Future’s “Covered N Money” before transitioning into Staples’ verse. Staples finds his pocket on the off-kilter beat, delivering a series of bars about gangster life, him being the best rapper out, and shouting out Long Beach. It’s reminiscent of his performance on the SOPHIE-produced “Yeah Right” from his sophomore album, Big Fish Theory. Peggy’s verse covers a lot of ground and shouts out the professional wrestler CM Punk at the end.
JPEGMAFIA’s verse created controversy this morning for a line directed at Drake. “‘Specially when y’all cashing out for PDFs and rapers (No Drizzy)” is the second bar of his verse. Of course, he’s referencing the allegations made against Drake by Kendrick Lamar during their heated battle earlier this year. Peggy has long been a Drake hater, a moniker he bestowed upon himself many years earlier. That line is not a surprise to anyone who’s been following his career. Regardless of JPEGMAFIA’s controversial bars, “New Black History” is a song you should be checking out today. Listen to the new track below.
When I come around, better stare at the floor (Yeah!) ‘Cause I’m in that mode, on my own, I got that flavor, Jonathan Major paper ‘Specially when y’all cashing out for PDFs and rapers (No Drizzy) I hope y’all paid attention, no really I die and I killed myself, tell ’em they killed me (Hey)
Today, Cardi B took to Instagram to announce that she’s expecting her third child. The news arrived amid rampant pregnancy rumors, and shortly after the femcee was spotted flaunting a baby bump. It also came just hours after it was revealed that Cardi filed for divorce from her husband of seven years, Offset.
Offset was spotted at a casino with his ex Pretty Redz earlier this week, though he denies cheating on the “Enough” performer. According to a source who chatted with Page Six, this also has nothing to do with Cardi’s decision to file. “They’ve grown apart,” they explained. “That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else.” Reportedly, Cardi is seeking primary custody of their children.
As expected, social media users are having a field day with the exciting news, though not everyone is on the same page. While some are simply showering the Bronx artist with love and support, others are questioning what exactly this means for her upcoming album. Many also point out that she looks to be pretty far along, and are curious when the little one is due to arrive.
Obviously, there are a lot of major changes happening in Cardi B’s life at the moment. Fortunately, it looks like she’s approaching everything with a positive mindset, and can’t wait to meet her third child. “With every ending comes a new beginning!” she wrote alongside her announcement. “I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power!”

Don Lemon and Elon Musk’s working relationship certainly soured quickly after their interview for their media partnership on Twitter went less than stellar. After the former’s show on the social media platform was swiftly canceled after just this one episode, it seems like he wants to seek even more retribution for this breakdown. Moreover, the journalist reportedly filed a lawsuit against the tech tycoon on Thursday (August 1), according to supposed court documents reportedly obtained by TMZ. Specifically, Lemon claims that Musk refused to honor his promise to pay him for this partnership after they fell out following their interview.
Furthermore, Don Lemon specifically claims that Elon Musk verbally promised to pay him $1.5 million a year for making content for Twitter, given that he needed a boost in advertisers after a dip in revenue. He also alleges that Musk promised him a share of the advertising revenue generated by the posts, as well as other monetary incentives corresponding to his growth and popularity on the social media platform. As such, Don believes that the Tesla magnate is breaking the law by walking back on this arrangement, although he admitted that there isn’t a written contract in place concerning these terms.
Still, Don Lemon maintains that Elon Musk gave him his confident assurance about this payment structure and other aspects via a phone call. In fact, he also claimed that Musk promised to continue to support him financially even if he didn’t like the content that he brought to the table. Don’s first project with Twitter was the Elon interview, and his responses to drug use and politics questions made the writing on the wall clear. But he claims that he had already been pressured to announce this partnership at the CES Vegas tech conference and risked losing it if he didn’t go to the conference along with Twitter’s CEO Linda Yaccarino.
“X’s executives used Don to prop up their advertising sales pitch, then canceled their partnership and dragged Don’s name through the mud,” Don Lemon’s lawyer Carney Shegerian remarked concerning the lawsuit alleging fraud, negligent misrepresentation, name and likeness misappropriation, breach of contract, and other accusations for which he seeks unspecified damages. “His approach was basically just ‘CNN, but on social media,’ which doesn’t work, as evidenced by the fact that CNN is dying,” Elon Musk had written of Lemon. “And, instead of it being the real Don Lemon, it was really just Jeff Zucker talking through Don, so lacked authenticity. All this said, Lemon/Zucker are of course welcome to build their viewership on this platform along with everyone else.”
Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, has been released from prison after judges ruled he should not face a retrial for murder, BBC reports. Kartel, who was imprisoned in 2014 for the alleged murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams, has always maintained his innocence. His conviction was overturned by UK judges in March. On Wednesday, appeal judges in Jamaica decided the case would not go back to court. This decision marks the end of a long legal battle for the 48-year-old artist, who is said to be in poor health after spending 13 years in custody. Here’s everything we know about his release and the events leading up to it.
Vybz Kartel was convicted in 2014 alongside co-defendants Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John. The prosecution argued that Kartel and his associates were involved in the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams in August 2011. Williams and another man, Lamar Chow, were reportedly summoned to Kartel’s house after failing to return two unlicensed firearms. Chow testified that they were attacked and that he saw Williams lying motionless on the ground before the house was burned down. Williams’ body was never found.
Despite their consistent claims of innocence, Kartel and his co-defendants were sentenced to life in prison. Kartel, specifically, received a minimum term of 35 years. Following his conviction, Kartel appealed to courts in Jamaica, which upheld the verdict. However, his legal team did not relent and took the case to the Privy Council in London, Jamaica’s highest court of appeal.
The Privy Council Ruling
In March, the Privy Council in London ruled that the conviction was unsafe due to the presence of a biased juror. Kartel’s defense had argued that a juror had attempted to bribe other members of the jury, which should have led to their removal from the trial. The Privy Council agreed. They stated that the decision not to remove the juror infringed on the defendants’ fundamental right to a fair hearing. The judges concluded that this oversight was “fatal to the safety of the convictions which followed.”
Despite the Privy Council’s ruling, Jamaican authorities had the option to retry Kartel and his co-defendants. However, on Wednesday, Justice Marva McDonald-Bishop of Jamaica’s Court of Appeal, along with two other judges, decided against a retrial. They considered several factors, including the “egregious nature and seriousness of the offense,” the unavailability of access to witnesses and evidence, the passage of time, and the considerable expense of a retrial. Additionally, Kartel’s declining health played a significant role in their decision. The judges concluded that “the interests of justice do not require a new trial,” and formally acquitted Kartel and his co-defendants.
Reaction To The Release
Kartel’s release has sparked widespread reactions in Jamaica and beyond. Known for hits like “Clarks,” “Ramping Shop,” and “Summer Time,” Vybz Kartel is one of Jamaica’s most influential dancehall artists. His music career, which continued to thrive even while he was imprisoned, has shaped and propelled dancehall internationally. Vybz’s release is seen as a monumental moment for dancehall music.
His release has been met with plenty of praise, from mainstream artists like Drake and Cardi B to 1Xtra’s Dancehall Show presenter, Seani B, who described Kartel’s release as a “mammoth day” for Jamaica and the dancehall community at large. Seani also acknowledged the lingering pain of Williams’ family, emphasizing the need to remember the victim amid the celebrations. No doubt that he’ll be releasing new music soon, indicating his plans to reclaim his spot as the top artist in the dancehall scene.
Rising Milwaukee rapper J.P. enjoyed a viral moment earlier this year. His track “Bad Bitty” trended on TikTok. It ranked at #24 on HNHH’s own Top 30 Rap Songs of 2024 list The song received further praise for its catchiness, as well as J.P.’s unconventional delivery on the track. J.P. used his moment of virality to release a mixtape in June called Coming Out Party. He further boosted his star with an appearance on On The Radar. There, he displayed more of his singing prowess, which his growing fanbase appreciated. Now, he’s coming back around for a remix of “Bad Bitty,” featuring a verse from NLE Choppa. The two even made a video for the track. The original track never received an official video, though J.P.’s From The Block performance of “Bad Bitty” became the unofficial video and the way many first became aware of him.
J.P.’s appearance on the track is left unchanged. NLE Choppa’s verse sticks to the song’s original theme, talking about the type of women he likes. Choppa matches the energy of the track in a big way. That results in a very productive remix that will hopefully get more eyes on J.P. He is a prolific artist, with five full projects in two years to his name. He has yet to sign to a major record label. Based on the virality of “Bad Bitty,” it does not seem likely to stay that way much longer. Getting a co-sign from NLE Choppa, who’s further along on his own rise through the industry than J.P., is not going to hurt, either. Listen to the remix of the track and watch the accompanying video.
Graduated from ratchets as soon as I got my status I’m in a whole ‘nother bracket Bro got the racks to stack it And ain’t no way I’m gon’ lose I’m having b**ches by two’s Me and J.P together breaking news
