Snoop Dogg May Not Be Smoking In Paris, But He Is Bringing The Flame As An Official 2024 Olympic Torchbearer

Snoop Dogg said he would respect French laws when it comes to his favorite pastime, but he got a nice concession prize. The Doggfather will be one of the lucky few to carry the Olympic flame through Paris ahead of the 2024 Olympic Summer Games. While in Paris to cover the 2024 Olympics for NBC — a job he’s taken to with great enthusiasm — he’ll carry the Olympic torch on its final leg through Paris’ Saint-Denis suburb, where the Stade de France Olympic Stadium is located.

Over the last few months, Snoop has taken to his correspondent role with gusto, participating in track and field trials (“34.44 for a 52-year-old? Ain’t bad.”), and shooting free throws — Rick Barry style! — with the USA 3×3 basketball squad.

After the games, Snoop will return to his day job, releasing his twentieth studio album, Missionary, the spiritual successor to his 1993 debut Doggystyle. In the meantime, though, it doesn’t look like he’s putting his seemingly endless series of side quests on hold; he recently joined the broadcast for the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers ball game after throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, and he’s preparing for his own NCAA football college bowl game this fall. The man appears to be living his best life, like a walking ad for the benefits of getting older.

Young Nudy Comes Back Swinging For The Fences On Metro Boomin-Produced “John Wayne”

It has been a little bit since fans have heard some new Young Nudy. In fact, the last time we got a solo release from the Atlanta, Georgia product was back in September 2023. His viral single “Peaches & Eggplants”, which would go on to land on Gumbo, got a remix with Latto and Sexyy Red. This slower production schedule comes as a bit of a surprise, especially given his track record earlier on in his career. But it seems that the “EA” lyricist is taking his time and it has been paying dividends. Prime examples of this include Young Nudy’s Childish Gambino collab on “Little Foot Big Foot” and now “John Wayne”.

The latter ends that previous dry spell, but it also includes production from Metro Boomin. This marks their first effort together since the duo and 21 Savage united for “Umbrella” off of HEROES & VILLAINS. Hearing them back on a track together is a real street based on their chemistry and “John Wayne” is certainly a fine addition to their collection. Back in January, Nudy previewed their song on IG Live and fans were extremely hyped. The devilish instrumental and the MC’s flows pretty much remain the same from the snippet, so listeners will be thrilled about that.

Metro reposted the teaser to his IG and was talking about how fans weren’t ready for their upcoming collab tape. While “John Wayne” does seem like it will be on a Nudy project in the future, we can only hope that their joint LP is on the horizon. Metro is a busy man right now though, as people are still waiting on a release date for the JID album as well. But “John Wayne” is more than good enough to hold us and fans over for the time being.

Did Drake Diss Soulja Boy On New Lil Yachty Collaboration?

Drake teamed up with Lil Yachty for a new unreleased collaboration tentatively titled, “Super Soak,” on which he possibly fired back at Soulja Boy for his recent posts on social media. Kai Cenat premiered the song during a live stream on Tuesday night. On the song, he raps: “I’m watching the moves, playin’ it close / SOD, super soak.” Some fans have been linking the bar to Soulja’s 2007 song, “Super Soak.”

The song premiere comes after Soulja chimed in on Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s recent feud on X (formerly Twitter). “Swag Season July 28 never let a n***a try me like I’m Drake,” Soulja wrote on the platform, earlier this month. “You disappointed me. @Drake.” In a follow-up, he added: “Doing all them weak ass songs with them n****z look where It got u none of them n****z you collab with or took on tour had yo back @Drake.”

It was far from the first time Soulja had been critical of Drizzy. Back in 2019, he went off on the Toronto rapper during an appearance on The Breakfast Club at which point Charlamagne referred to Drake as “the biggest rapper in the world.” Soulja fired back in a video that quickly went viral: “Draaaaakkkkkkeeee?! That n***a who got bodied by Pusha T? Drake?! Y’all n****s better stop playing with me in here. Y’all talking about the light-skinned n***a from [Degrassi]? Stop playing with me like I didn’t teach Drake everything he know.”

Rihanna was seen baring it all in an off-the-cuff style advertisement for her Savage X Fenty underwear and bra lines. In the short clip, Rihanna is seen walking around in public with her friends wearing a plaid skirt and light blue top. Shortly after strutting her stuff, she decides to give her friends a quick peek at the cheeks. The entrepreneurial icon is going quite viral right now because of it, and its why her brand is so widespread. Since sharing the 22 second clip to X (formerly Twitter) in the early evening yesterday, it has been watched over 46.6 million times, has 334,000 likes, 26,000 reshares, and over 5,000 comments. Also helping this post become so likeable is Rihanna’s relatable caption, “since I clearly won’t be achieving my six pack til next summer, I switched my summer goal to matching my shoes to my panties! 🤷🏿‍♀️”.

This prompted a lot of fans to chime in on how they feel the same way about their fitness. “Same sista. I fumbled the abs”, one user writes”. Of course, the failed six-pack is not deterring anyone from pointing out how good Rihanna’s backside looks. “That booootyyy thoooo”, another adds. Others seem to be trapped too hard with one person penning, “I watched this way too many times already”.

Keefe D Allegedly Went Undercover To Prove Diddy Was Part of Tupac Murder

New court documents have revealed that reputed Crip Gang member Duane “Keefe D” Davis allegedly went undercover as an informant for the police after being arrested for “trafficking a large amount of drugs.” He reportedly claimed that DIddy offered him $1 million to murder the late Tupac Shakur, which was allegedly paid to Eric “Zip” Martin. 

Prosecutors claim that Davis flew out to NYC to discuss the demise of the late rapper/actor and claims he met with Zip as an undercover operative.

“Mr. Martin [Zip] greeted Defendant excitedly and they had a social conversation,” the court papers claim. “Mr. Martin indicated he was out of the business but directed him to conduct his drug activities with the nephew. Thereafter, Defendant and Mr. Martin socialized in Mr. Martin’s restaurant for several hours.”

Keefe’s next court appearance is scheduled for today, Tuesday, July 23. TheSource.com will update this story when more details are available.

MF DOOM Album Briefly Removed From Spotify

MF DOOM fans were shocked to find that one of the rapper’s most acclaimed albums was no longer on Spotify. MM… FOOD, released in 2004, was pulled from the popular music streaming service on the evening of July 23. It returned soon after, but not before fans started mourning their perceived loss. Of course, some fans took it as an opportunity to flex their preferred streaming service as the “superior” one.

Like much of underground hip-hop from the early 2000s, MF DOOM’s music is littered with uncleared samples. DOOM was famous for using movie samples, especially from old superhero shows. He also used obscure jazz, soul, and whatever else he could find in his production process. Many artists from DOOM’s era did not get popular enough for anyone to come after them for not getting their samples cleared. DOOM’s popularity has grown over the years, and in death, he is the most popular he’s ever been. Which is why other fans thought that MM… FOOD‘s removal had to do with the lack of cleared samples. It was more likely a bug, which is why it returned so quickly.

MF DOOM’s “MM… FOOD” Removed From Spotify

Long considered one of the greatest rappers of all time, MF DOOM passed away on Halloween 2020. DOOM’s wife announced the news on New Year’s Eve of that year, much to the shock of fans. Since then, fans have been keeping his legacy alive by listening to his music. He has nearly eight million monthly listeners on Spotify, at the time of this writing.

In 2023, producer Madlib and Brooklyn rapper Talib Kweli appeared on Hot 97 to talk about Liberation 2, their second collaborative release. Questions about the existence of Madvillainy 2, the long-awaited followup to MF DOOM and Madlib’s seminal work, Madvillainy arose. Madlib confirmed that the album is still being worked on, but it is unclear when it will release, if at all. Hopefully, all parties involved come together to pay tribute to the late legendary rapper if the time comes. Until then, do yourself a favor and stream MM… FOOD today.
