Sexyy Red Set to Appear on WWE NXT: ‘I Might RKO Somebody’

SexyyRed007

Sexxy Red is headed to the WWE. The St. Louis superstar will visit the NXT brand, which is led by wrestling legend Shawn Michaels.

According to Cage Side Seats, Red has her eyes set on Lash Legend, Noam Dar, and their group the Meta-Four. Legend is the real-life girlfriend of WWE NXT champion Trick Williams, but in wrestling has been used as a pawn to set up a championship match between Williams and Dar. And, quite frankly, Red don’t like that.

“I can’t wait to go to NXT next week yall I might RKO somebody @WWE #nxt,” Red wrote.

For all the non-intense wrestling fans out there, the RKO is the finishing move of fellow STL native and 15-time WWE champion Randy Orton.

Sexyy Red is set to release her second official body of work, the EP “In Sexyy We Trust,” on May 24th via Open Shift/gamma. This announcement comes as part of her ongoing campaign to #MakeAmericaSexyyAgain.

This week, Sexyy Red received five nominations for the 2024 BET Awards. She earned solo nominations for Best Female Hip Hop Artist and Best New Artist, along with three additional nods for her contributions to Drake’s “Rich Baby Daddy” featuring Sexyy Red and SZA, and its music video.

“In Sexyy We Trust” arrives during a particularly busy period for Sexyy Red. Following the birth of her second child in February, an event highlighted in Drake’s “Rich Baby Daddy” video, the 26-year-old artist captured headlines with her dynamic performance at Rolling Loud California 2024. At the event, she distributed hot pink “Make America Sexyy Again” trucker hats to her enthusiastic fans.

In March, Sexyy Red made waves with her highest-charting solo single, “Get It Sexyy.” The nostalgic music video, praised for its clever re-creation of early 2000s Southern hip-hop culture, features a roller rink scene with cameos from celebrities like Soulja Boy, Drake, Adin Ross, Trippie Redd, Rob409, Tay Keith, and Fabo. With over 7 million views and 500,000 sales to date, “Get It Sexyy” has solidified Sexyy Red’s status as one of the most talked-about rappers of her generation.

DJ Akademiks Claims That Cam’ron Beat Jay-Z In 2000s Rap Battle

Another day, another DJ Akademiks hot take. The internet personality has not had the best month in terms of public perception. Drake, the rapper he chose to win in the Kendrick Lamar battle, effectively lost, and Ak himself was accused of sexual assault in a lawsuit. He hasn’t let it slow down his streaming schedule, or his propensity for frustrating hip-hop heads, though. Soon after laying into Meek Mill and claiming that he ended the Philly rapper’s career, Ak claimed that Cam’ron defeated Jay-Z back when they were beefing in the 2000s.

“I thought Cam beat Jay,” Ak asserted. “I know they ain’t really battle like that, but I always thought he flamed Jay-Z.” The song Ak is referring to is “You Gotta Love It” off his 2006 album Killa Season. As far as the internet personality was concerned, Cam’ron leveled all competition with his style and sense of humor. “When we had Cam’ron [and] Max B diss Jay, it’s like ‘You got open-toed sandals with jeans on.’ Come on. It was over for me,” Akademiks recalled.

DJ Akademiks Thought Cam’ron’s Diss Was More Memorable

He went on to play the diss on his stream, before claiming that he wanted Drake to adopt more of a Cam approach in his battle with Kendrick Lamar. “I’m telling you, Cam got the jokes,” he noted. “Cam is more potent. Him and Rick Ross… This sh*t was ill to me. This is how I wanted Drake to start the sh*t! You the G.O.A.T., man.” Cam’ron is relevant as ever these days, thanks to It Is What It Is podcast and the bizarre interview he gave on CNN, but the rapper has smoothed things over with Jay-Z. The rappers, who were signed to Roc-A-Fella, had a cold war that stemmed from perceived slights on both sides.

Fortunately, they were able to squash their beef in the late 2010s. Cam’ron discussed his relationship with Jay during an interview with Million Dollaz Worth of Game, and detailed an invite he got to perform alongside the rapper at a 2019 concert. “Jay called, he’s like, ‘Yo, first of all I want to tell you I got respect for you,’ and I’m like, ‘Same here, bro,’” Cam’ron recalled. “We just showed our love for each other, and we kept it under wraps. Nobody would’ve thought that in a million years.”

Benny The Butcher Praises Drake For Pushing The Culture Forward

Drake isn’t getting lots of compliments these days. He lost the battle to Kendrick Lamar, and now has to contend with the fact that the number one single on the charts, “Not Like Us,” is song in which he gets called a pedophile. Not a great look. The Toronto rapper will rebound, barring any legal troubles, but he recently got support from an unexpected source. Benny the Butcher, a charter member of the grimy rap collective Griselda, praised Drake for his musical contributions.

Benny discussed the rapper during an April appearance on Montreality. He believes that those who hate on Drake for making radio songs are simply envious of his pen game. “Drake is phenomenal,” he opined. “N**gas that hate on Drake pen is jealous. Drake that n**ga, you know what I’m saying. He a fair n**ga, he look out for dudes, give dudes verses and sh*t.” The latter point is especially interesting, given that the Toronto rapper has been accused of being a “culture vulture” and a “colonizer” by Lamar. Drake’s been hit with these accusations for years, but Lamar crystallized them on record.

Benny The Butcher Claims Drake Is “Doing His Part”

Benny the Butcher does not agree with this line of thinking. He went on to commend Drake for giving features to young artists and co-signing those who are less popular. “Drake takes the responsibility of pushing the culture forward,” Benny asserted. “When you have a position like he has in the game, you have to do that. He takes that responsibility head on.”

The Griselda rapper went on to dismiss the idea that Drake is not giving back to the artists he’s a fan of. “People ask ‘Why he got a song with him or why he doing features with him.’ Because he like those n**gas and that’s what he like to do,” Benny added. “He’s pushing the culture forward. He’s doing his part.”

The praise runs both ways. Drake praised Benny the Butcher and the Griselda crew during a 2020 interview with Rap Radar. “I really like… Just that whole cliquing up, Griselda sh*t is just ill,” he noted. When asked whether he would be willing to collaborate with Benny the Butcher, Drake said yes. “I’m down,” he asserted. “Benny showed me love one time on an interview, too. I think what they’re doing is great.” Drake has already worked with frequent Griselda producer Conductor Williams, so hopefully we get to hear more between the different crews.

50 Cent Mocks TMZ After Selling Diddy Docuseries To Netflix

50 Cent had a busy May 21. The rapper has had a field day with the downfall of his fellow NY mogul, Diddy. He not only made fun of Diddy on social media, but he secured distribution for his anticipated documentary series on the mogul’s various crimes. The docuseries, tentatively titled Diddy Do It, was bought by Netflix after a lengthy bidding war. A bidding war that 50 celebrated by poking fun at TMZ.

TMZ broke the news of the Netflix acquisition. They claimed that multiple networks and virtually all the streaming platforms were trying to purchase the docuseries, given how much attention the Diddy saga had gotten in the last few months. “[The] new Diddy docuseries will hit the streamer sooner than later,” the outlet added. 50 Cent’s decision to go with Netflix makes perfect sense, given the success that the platform has had with other true crime shows.

50 Cent Claimed His Diddy Series Is Better Than TMZ’s

The rapper did not appreciate TMZ’s coverage of the story, however. He reposted a screenshot of the article on his Instagram and noted that the outlet used a photo of him when he was noticeably heavier. His theory? TMZ is salty because they recently put a Diddy documentary of their own: The Downfall of Diddy. “TMZ use this fat boy picture of me because their doc went to Tubi LOL,” he wrote on IG. “It’s ok guys we’re all making good television mines just happens to be the best.”

50 Cent went on note that he may have to produce more episodes of his docuseries if more harrowing Diddy allegations surface. “Netflix wins the bidding war but if more victims keep coming out I’m gonna need more episodes,” he added. This Instagram post comes only a few hours after the rapper reacted to the latest assault claims leveled at Diddy. A former model named Crystal McKinney filed a lawsuit against Diddy for an alleged 2003 incident, and 50 once again blasted the Bad Boy founder. “This my last puffy post I think he might kill himself,” he wrote. “I don’t want no parts of that.” The rapper later deleted the post.
