Drake & J. Cole Perform “In The Morning” For First Time In 10 Years: See Tour Setlist

The Big As The What? tour officially kicked off in Tampa on Friday (February 2), and fans couldn’t be more excited for this Super Bowl. Moreover, Drake and J. Cole reportedly performed a whopping 53 songs in total across their solo discographies and collaborative efforts for their opening show. Of course, some of these tracks were shortened, mixed with others, and altered to make it a cohesive and engaging rapid-fire experience. It was a lot of material from the Toronto superstar, which isn’t surprising considering that this is an “expansion” of his It’s All A Blur trek with 21 S*vage. Still, it’s been great to see highlights from this online, especially their first performance on their collab “In The Morning” in over a decade.

Furthermore, this setlist includes classic cuts from their early 2010s eras, as well as some of their more recent releases. Drake’s For All The Dogs shows up quite a bit here, and J. Cole performed an acapella version of one of his best 2023 features, Lil Yachty’s “The Secret Recipe.” In addition, the two also reflected strong chemistry from what we’ve seen online, which is unsurprising considering their close relationship and bond. One collab track they apparently didn’t perform this time, though, is “Evil Ways,” one of their most recent lyrical stunners.

Regardless, amid all their success and acclaim, we’re sure that they will find new ways to deliver this experience. They might change the tracklist here and there, plus hopefully accommodate for some special guests. All in all, this first night of the tour is a very good sign of what’s to come, and you can check out February 2’s setlist below to see that for yourself. On that note, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Drake, J. Cole, and their joint tour.

Travis Kelce Haircut Is A Viral Trend, But Black Creators Aren’t Happy About The Coverage

A New York Times report about Travis Kelce’s haircut becoming a viral trend has left several prominent Black media members unhappy with how Kelce is being portrayed.”The NYT thinks that Travis Kelce invented the fade 🤦🏾‍♀️ When you have zero cultural competency on your staff, this is how you end up with stories like this, and explaining swag surfin,’ which is at least 15 or years old,” wrote journalist Jemele Hill on X.

As Hill noted, The Times referred to “The Fade”, a staple of Black fashion since it first grew to popularity in the militarized culture of the 1940s and 50s, as “The Travis Kelce”. And while cultural markers do grow and adopt and maybe it’s unreasonable for a 14-year-old Chiefs fan to know it’s a fade and not the Kelce, the 172-year-old New York Times should absolutely know better.

Taylor Swift Co-Opts Black Dance Moves…Again

However, as Hill mentioned, it’s not just Travis Kelce who is pushing this trend. Explainer articles about “Swag Surfin” have popped up after Swift was seen pulling the dance move at the AFC Championship Game. In this case, an article from The Sporting News called it “the Chiefs’ viral dance celebration”. Swag Surfin dates back to 2009 and the F.L.Y. song of the same name. But the co-opting of Black-created dance moves is not a new thing. The Wikipedia page for “The Griddy” features two images of white people doing the dance, despite the creator being Black and a Black NFL player have been the one to further popularize it.

Furthermore, it’s not the first time that Swift specifically has been involved in discussions of cultural appropriation. Swift received a great deal of backlash for the music video of her 2014 hit “Shake If Off”. The “joke” of the video is that Swift is trying and failing to replicate dance moves such as twerking. However, it’s much more again to lampshading – simply pointing out that the self-awareness of an action does not excuse the action itself.

Ryan Leslie Returns After 12-Year Hiatus With New Album “You Know My Speed,” Announces Europe Tour

Taking a break from releasing full-length projects certainly has its pros and cons. When you look at the benefits, its mostly for the artist. It allows them to really hone in on a sound and damn near master it. Or, they can work on crafting something no one will expect. That alone could be a positive or negative for the creator. As for the cons, the fans could move on and forget about you. That is especially true today with the younger generation. They are always looking for the next best thing. However, Ryan Leslie decided to take his time.

Usually, five to six years feels like a decade. But, Ryan waited 12 (!) years, so that must feel like a century to most. Leslie got his start in the R&B world in the late 2000s. He specializes in buttery smooth and braggadocious cuts and he is delivering that with a modern twist on his newest record. Leslie is adding more kick drums and bass to You Know My Speed.

However, he does throw in some songs that could have hit even harder in the early 2010s like “All the Ways.” On top of making a long overdue comeback, Ryan has more news too. According to HipHopDX, the Richmond, Virginia native will be touring in Europe only for this album. That will begin in March and run through April. A good deal of his audience is in Germany, which is one country he will be performing in. The Netherlands, Switzerland, Spain, and France are also in the mix.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, You Know My Speed, by Ryna Leslie? Do you think this is the best album he has ever put out, why or why not? Ice Spice Hits Out After “Pretty Girl” Cameo In Latto’s “Weak A**” Snippet

Ice Spice has renewed her beef with Latto during a Spaces AMA this week. while answering fan questions, Spice went off about Latto playing the music video for “Pretty Girl” in the background of a recent video. “Why am I in the back of your weak a– snippet? I thought it was fake, I thought it had to be AI but no. Like be bold, but if you’re going to talk about me, then talk about me. Why am I in the back of your weak a– snippet?” Spice off to the collection of shocked listeners.

This latest barrage from the Bronx rapper comes after she dropped “Think U The Shit (Fart)” in which she took direct shots at Latto. It’s still unclear what caused the beef to initially kick off. However, fans immediately drew battle lines. Latto is yet to directly respond to both Spice’s new single and the latest comments about the surprise cameo in her latest snippet. Whose side are you on? Let us know in the comments.

Ice Spice’s Reference-Filled Super Bowl Commercial May Include Ex Reveal

Meanwhile, beefing isn’t the only thing that Spice has been up to. Starry, the Pepsico-owned soda brand, recently dropped a teaser for their upcoming Super Bowl ad featuring Ice Spice. The 15-second clip is packed full of references, “Stop, you play too much,” Spice tells her off-camera date playfully, calling back to her signature lead-in of “Stop playing with them, RIOT”. Elsewhere, the aforementioned unseen date convinces Spice to him her iconic “grahhh”. However, most intriguingly of all, the teaser ends with Spice implying that she has just spotted her ex walk into the bar where she’s located.

The 24-year-old rapper has been fairly private about her dating life. She did confirm to the LA Times in October 2023 that she was in a relationship. However, it’s most likely that the full ad will see Spice’s ex being either a famous person or another soda that she ditched in favor of Starry. It’s unlikely that the tea is really going to be spilled about her dating life. Despite this, the full ad will drop on Super Bowl Sunday (February 11).

Dthang Gz Flips “Annie” Musical On New Single “Last Day In”

New York drill music remains to be a key player in the state that saw the birth of hip-hop. There are a lot of new faces in the mix. One of those newbies is Dthang. He also goes by Dthang Gz and this is just his second time on the HNHH website. The last time we spoke about him was when French Montana grabbed him and T DOT for “I Got A Feeling.”

That song sampled and flipped the Black Eyed Peas’ biggest hit of the same name. Interestingly, Dthang is doing the same thing on his latest single. “Last Day In” does not share the name of another popular song. In this case, it comes down to the familiar vocals weaving in and out of the track.

Listen To “Last Day In” By Dthang Gz

Yes, your ears do not deceive you. Those are the little girls singing “Hard Knock Life” from the musical classic Annie. Dthang uses those background vocals to help describe his life at the moment. The 21-year-old rapper was supposed to serve three to five years after a massive indictment against the River Park Towers gang for numerous shootings that took place. Dthang, along with a host of other rappers were hit with charges of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, attempted assault, animal cruelty, and criminal possession of a weapon, according to HipHopDX. Dthang’s arrest was in 2022, so he was fortunate and looks to improve based on the lyrics of “Last Day In.”

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Last Day In,” by Dthang Gz? Is this the best single of his career so far, why or why not? Is he going to be a face of New York drill music? Do you think he needs to drop his debut project this year? We would like to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your hottest takes in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Dthang Gz. Trinidad James Gives His Take On Megan Thee Stallion & Nicki Minaj Beef

Everyone has something to say about the Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion rap beef, especially their peers in the game. The latest to do so is one Trinidad James, who recently caught up with TMZ at what seems like an airport, and they presumably asked him about the two femcees clashing right now. Overall, he discussed how they are launching personal attacks at one another and their families, but he also brought up hip-hop’s history of lyrical competition. As such, the “All Gold Everything” artist thinks that this is fair game and an important factor to uphold, and also spoke on power imbalances between them.

“Number one is a heavy crown to wear,” Trinidad James remarked. “Most people don’t ever get a chance to wear the crown. So, it’s really hard to judge the actions of a number one type of person. You won’t get it because you haven’t been to that plateau. So I say that to say that, in the Nicki and Megan situation, it’s always unfortunate when people’s families catch strays in beef, but the essence of rap and hip-hop is about lyrical competition.

Trinidad James On Nicki Minaj & Megan Thee Stallion Beef

How low below the belt you go is unfortunate, and that takes back to somebody’s character,” Trinidad James continued. “But the basic essence and formula of rap and hip-hop is lyrical competition, and that’s how I see it. I mean, you had Jay-Z and Nas back in the day, and they said pretty cr*zy things about each other, too, at the time when “Ether” and things of such came out. Again, Nicki is a veteran in this, and so she came up with real hunters. Real killers, who they’re not really about using their hands for anything. Their words is their power, their words is their sword.

“So, however somebody is feeling when they’re really good with words… if they’re really good with them, it’s gonna sound intense because that’s what this is, it’s lyrical competition,” he concluded. “This is hip-hop, this is rap, bro! You gotta rap to rap, and you gotta stand on your raps. This is not a girl’s club, this is not a tea party. This is a place where your words pay your family and your legacy for life. Defend yourself! That’s what I’ma tell Megan, that’s what I’ma tell Nicki: defend yourself.” For more news and the latest on Trinidad James, Nicki Minaj, and Megan Thee Stallion, come back to HNHH.

Lizzo Sexual Harassment Lawsuit Amended But Not Dismissed

It was a mixed day in court for Lizzo yesterday. The sexual harassment lawsuit filed against the singer last year was amended but not fully dismissed. Judge Mark H. Epstein removed several accusations, including the claim that Lizzo fat-shamed one of her former dancers. However, Judge Epstein ruled that there was enough merit to move the case forward. “It is dangerous for the court to weigh in, ham-fisted, into constitutionally protected activity. But it is equally dangerous to turn a blind eye to allegations of discrimination or other forms of misconduct merely because they take place in a speech-related environment,” Epstein wrote in his decision.

Lizzo had been seeking a dismissal under California’s anit-SLAPP legislation. The law protects defendants from otherwise baseless lawsuits filed purely to silence said defendant. The law is commonly used against corporations who attempt to sue their critics into silence. The singer has long argued that this is the case with the suit she is facing. “Instead of taking any accountability for their own actions, plaintiffs filed this lawsuit against defendants out of spite and in pursuit of media attention, public sympathy and a quick payday with minimal effort,” Lizzo’s attorney wrote last year.

Lizzo Wants Sexual Harassment Documents Sealed By The Court

Meanwhile, Lizzo’s team ended 2023 by trying to limit the public scope of the ongoing legal battle. A motion was filed asking the court to seal a number of documents relating to ongoing sexual harassment lawsuits against the singer. In their motion, Lizzo’s team argues that “documents, correspondence and testimony that contain sensitive, confidential information and/or proprietary business information, including employee compensation, contract negotiation, and third-party sensitive contact information” should not be made public.

While the suits and countersuits surrounding Lizzo remain ongoing, the case has deeply divided the music industry. In early November, Azealia Banks came out with a surprising apology for the embattled singer. “I was having a conversation last night. And I realized that I owe @lizzobeeating a huge apology for popping so much sh-t. If hip hop will allow a 55+ severely overweight @bustarhymes who exhibits major of anabolic steroid abuse, adrenal gland failure, and constipation. And will also allow him to have a face full of blackheads and acne from what appears to be a testosterone shot abuse. And whilst drinking molly water in 2023 and wearing cartoon-like Neon yellow fake gold slick Rick chains. We have absolutely no right to be trying to skewered a YOUNG black woman – for anything,” Banks wrote.

Chrisean Rock Tweet About Her “Daddy” Confuses Fans

Chrisean Rock is back to confusing her fans (and haters) with her latest post on social media. “Idc idc I love my daddy so much 😘 can’t wait till u get here n-ggasaa ugghh aaaahhhh👅👅👅,” Rock wrote on X, formerly Twitter. As mentioned, fans were seemingly confused about who the tweet was for. Was it about Blueface, who Rock is seemingly living with again? Was it about a mystery man who was grabbed Rock’s attention? Or was there another explanation entirely?

“At the end of the day only god knows what’s best for you chrisean! Don’t let the negativity bring you down! Hope all is well with you and the baby have a good night 💜💜,” one fan wrote in response to the bizarre tweet. “I’m ready for him to get out, bc I know you must miss him, I’m praying that with him sitting down for a minute he realizes how much you love him & more only hoping for the best, free your bd ☺✨,” added another.

Does Chrisean Rock Jr. Have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome?

Meanwhile, Rock has been facing plenty of hate online in recent days. Fans were whipped into a frenzy after pregnancy photos showing Rock drinking emerged online. Later, new footage of her son, Chrisean Jr, led internet users to start speculating as to whether the child was suffering from fetal alcohol frenzy. This only accelerated in severity after the infamous Drama Alert began resharing the rumors.

There is no substantiated evidence that Chrisean Jr is suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome. However, that has never stopped people from speculating, especially when it comes to Rock and Blueface. For her part, Rock has mostly ignored the new wave of hate. Instead, Rock boasted that her declining follower counts don’t worry her because she’s still making bank. “The more y’all hate the more popular I become I don’t give a fuck about losing followers I get paid off my engagement/ algorithm if I’m getting 60 plus million views on my post 400k plus comments my promo prices just goes up or anything I sell stay sold out . So continue the hate train it makes me hella money 😂😂😂😂,” Rock wrote earlier in the week.
