Kevin Abstract and BROCKHAMPTON called it quits nearly a year ago with their album, The Family. It was an unfortunate and sad end to the group’s tenure together. One of the most entertaining collections of talent in the hip-hop community and BROCKHAMPTON will always be in our hearts. Their legacy is truly special Abstract has not been active since 2022 either. Actually, the last release under his stage name was in 2021.
It was a single with Ryan Beatty titled “SIERRA NIGHTS.” After that, was a single in 2022 called “DEAR MISS HOLLOWAY” with easy life. Finally, him and Baird dropped a two-pack “Easy v2.” Those songs were titled “Easy v2” and “Easy On Them Turns,” which was a Baird-only cut. However, we finally have some new material from Kevin and it is something that is totally different.

The track is called “Blanket” and it is just under two minutes. It really is not much of a song, though. Yung Miami responded to Diddy’s recent comments in which he compared her to Oprah in a post on her Instagram Story. She remarked that the iconic music mogul is going to be the one to push her to get there. Diddy made the comparison while speaking with Billboard for a recent interview.
“Nipsey Hussle, to me, was that young Puff version,” Diddy began. “But one person that I can say right now is Travis Scott. I can relate to how he’s diversifying his portfolio and really understanding how to take it to the next level.” From there, he added: “I also think Yung Miami [aka Caresha Brownlee] from the City Girls. She reminds me of Oprah with the endless possibilities that she has as far as her clothing line, television shows, performances, live podcasts. I really respect both of their hustles and see them being able to break through.”

Michael Lewis, the author of The Blind Side, has come out with a bizarre claim about why Michael Oher is challenging the Tuohy family after nearly 20 years. “What we’re watching is a change of behaviour. This is what happens to football players who get hit in the head: they run into problems with violence and aggression,” Lewis told Samanth Subramanian of The Guardian. Lewis also made some wild claims about Oher’s ability. “He insisted that Oher wouldn’t have made it to the NFL without the Tuohys’ support, and that Oher did not, in fact, know much about playing football when the Tuohys first met him. On a football field, “he was not useful”, Lewis said,” Subrmanian’s article also noted.
However, Lewis’ claims of CTE and subpar talent are nothing more than a smokescreen. Lewis is a close friend of Sean Tuohy. The two grew up together and had a relationship before Lewis chronicled Oher’s journey in the blindside. The claims of CTE try to distract from the horrific allegations tying a white family to manipulating a Black teenager. Meanwhile, the talent allegations are meaningless, given the fact Oher’s entire story as well as the fact that Lewis felt the story notable enough to dedicate most of a book to it.

However, last week, Oher finally saw some justice. A judge in Shelby County, Tennessee has ended the conservatorship agreement between Michael Oher and the Tuohy family. Judge Kathleen Gomes formally ended the conservatorship earlier this week in probate court. Furthermore, Gomes refused to dismiss the case that Oher had brought against the family. “I cannot believe it got done,” Gomes said of the conservatorship. Additionally, she added that she had never seen such an agreement in her 43-year legal career. Conservatorships are usually enacted in cases of disability or similar circumstances.
The Tuohys watched the hearing virtually but did not comment. The family has objected to Oher’s claims that they took financial advantage of him. Oher has claimed that the Tuohys have hidden the full extent of the earnings they have reaped from the use of his name, image, and likeness. The Tuohys operate two separate non-profits that use Oher’s name.

Ice Spice’s ascension as the hip-hop it-girl of the year continues as Saturday Night Live announces the lineup for its return next week, October 14. The show’s return has been in doubt since the paired Writers’ Guild of America and Screen Actors’ Guild strikes basically shut down all of Hollywood for the second time in the past four years, but with the studios capitulating to the writers’ demands, production has resumed on at least some shows, including SNL.
In addition to the temporary return of Pete Davidson to the cast as guest host, Ice Spice will make her late-night TV debut as the musical guest. She’ll have plenty of hit songs to choose from for her performance, including “Barbie World,” “Boy’s A Liar, Pt. 2,” “Deli,” “In Ha Mood,” “Princess Diana,” and of course, her breakout hit “Munch.” And although her Dunkin Donuts ad spot with Ben Affleck had her looking a little stiff, who knows? Maybe she’ll also turn out to be a comedic genius should she get added to any skits as part of her planned acting career transition.

One thing is for sure: This performance will almost certainly be safer than her recent set at the Listen Out Music Festival in Sydney, Australia. During a performance of “Princess Diana,” Spice’s backside was nearly singed as she twerked in her signature short skirt a little too close to the pyrotechnics. Talk about your wardrobe malfunctions. Drake might well be one of the most consistently productive rappers of his generation, but that hasn’t stopped every one of his album releases from being events. No one ever wants to miss out on a Drake album release, and his upcoming eighth studio album, For All The Dogs, appears to be no exception.
After months of teasing and at least one release date delay, Drake’s latest album is scheduled for release on all platforms — including Spotify — on October 6. However, with Drake, you can never be 100 percent sure that he’ll make his release deadline, even though he’s usually been pretty good at getting them in under the wire.
Which songs will comprise the album remains to be seen, though. While he’s already released a pair of singles this year, “Search & Rescue” and “Slime You Out” featuring SZA, only the latter has been promoted as an official album single. However, Drake did share the album’s avant-garde cover, which was allegedly drawn by his six-year-old son, Adonis.
Originally due near the end of September, For All The Dogs was pushed back to allow Drake time to finish his It’s All A Blur Tour. We’ll find out if the wait was worth it on Friday, 10/6.
