Latto Stuns In BET Awards Photo Dump

The BET Awards took place over the weekend and many of rap’s biggest stars took the stage or attended the event. Latto had quite a night both performing at the event and accepting an award. She took home the Best Female Hip Hop Artist award. It’s the first time since 2019 that Megan Thee Stallion didn’t win the award and the first time since 2017 that neither Megan or Cardi B have won. Both were nominated again this year alongside previous winner Nicki Minaj, previous nominee Coi Leray and two first-timers Ice Spice and GloRilla.

While Latto’s performance and award wins certainly got some attention, so did her look. In an Instagram post she made last night she shows off her BET fit. The sheer lace and all-black look is scantily clad and got pretty rave reviews from fans in her comments. “So prettyyyy,” said R&B darling SZA. “stunning wow,” commented Chloe Bailey. Others shared hilarious gifs of Latto’s reaction to winning her award last night. After taking home the Best New Artist Award last year fans were overwhelmingly happy for Latto as she graduated to Best Female Hip Hop Artist this year.

Another way Latto continues to tease fans is with hints about her mysterious celerity boyfriend. She recently explained why she is keeping the identity of her partner a mystery. In a perfectly placed tease, she told fans that she eventually planned on getting married and having a baby. The predominant theory among fans is currently obvious, that she’s dating 21 Savage. Internet sleuths have dug up evidence that they believe links the two together. A few months ago they posted Instagram story shots from the same vacation destination and that was all fans needed to see.

Drake & Kevin Gates Are Latest Rappers To Be Name-Dropped In YNW Melly Double Murder Trial

Today (June 27), marks Jamell Demons’ ninth day in court amid his double murder trial. At this time, it remains unclear which way the death-qualified jury will lean in the nail-biting case. It could result in the rapper receiving a fatal sentence with a minimum 8-4 vote thanks to new state laws. Demons – better known as YNW Melly – seems calm, confident, and even playful amid proceedings which have been live-streamed by Law & Crime throughout the month.

Much of the focus remains on the 23-year-old and his alleged victims, YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be a true hip-hop trial if other artists weren’t also brought into the conversation. Boosie Badazz is the only public figure to set foot in Melly’s courtroom so far (though he was arrested on federal charges of his own shortly after). This week, we’ve been hearing several names referenced during the testimony of undercover Detective Danny Polo. On Monday, he suggested that Juelz Santana is a member of the Bloods while also noting that he’s unsure if French Montana is gang-affiliated or not.

YNW Melly’s Double Murder Trial Continues to Reference Hip-Hop

The next day, Polo answered questions from YNW Melly’s attorney, David A. Howard, regarding two other famous lyricists. The first was Drake, who the gang expert confirmed has made references to violence throughout his songs. Elsewhere the lawyer brought up Kevin Gates’ “4:30 AM,” on which he raps, “No regrets for the shit I did.” As per journalist Bryson “Boom” Paul, Howard replayed a video the prosecution presented of his client reciting the same lyrics.

Being dragged into yet another trial likely isn’t how Drake wants to spend his summer. Thankfully, the Canadian has other major projects underway to keep his mind occupied from the drama, such as his It’s All A Blur tour and his recently announced For All The Dogs album. Despite what some people may want you to believe, Nicki Minaj is still very much the queen of rap. Overall, she is a legend in the game and many consider her to be one of the GOATs. Tracey Edmonds Gives Update On Deion Sanders’ Condition Following Surgery

Deion Sanders’ longtime girlfriend Tracey Edmonds gave an update on his condition after he underwent surgery to remove blood clots in his leg.

Deion underwent surgery on his left leg on Friday, June 23. He was expected to be released from the hospital on Sunday, June 25.

Tracey thanked Deion’s fans for their prayers in a post on her Instagram page on Friday.

“We declare.. God has #CoachPrime @deionsanders covered today! Thank you so much Fam for all your prayers!!”

In a video shared on Instagram on Saturday, Deion said he had successful surgery to remove blood clots in his left thigh and below his left knee. He said he also has a blood clot in the right leg that doctors were “going to get soon.”

His doctor feared he would lose his left foot due to poor circulation caused by blood clots in his leg. But Deion dismissed talks of amputation on Thursday.

“There is no talk of amputation. There’s no talk of any of that whatsoever,” he said.

He said the surgery on Friday was to “try to get those clots so I can have proper blood flow to the leg so they can fix the toes. That’s what’s going on.”

LL Cool J and Ice-T Team Up For New Show ‘Hip Hop Treasures’

LL Cool J and Ice T’s new show on A&E will take a trip down memory lane and discuss some of hip hop’s coolest and most iconic memorabilia.

Deadline confirmed that the rappers-turned-actors would join forces on the new show Hip Hop Treasures, a docu-series focusing on hunting down memorable pieces important to hip hop culture.

From Flava Flav’s iconic clock chain to DMX’s Aaliyah car, fans can expect the nostalgia to be on full display, while hip-hop aficionados can rejoice at true artists of the craft bringing these items back to their memory.

The new dynamic duo will collaborate with a team of field collectors, such as Cipha Sounds and Yo-Yo, and curators of the Universal Hip-Hop Museum, Paradise Gray and Pete Nice. The museum will debut the biggest collection of hip-hop memorabilia next year.

CeeLo Green, Master P, and Soulja Boy, to name a few, will be present to help the co-hosts on their many quests.

LL Cool J and Ice-T  have made names for themselves in Hollywood starring in hit shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and NCIS: Los Angeles. Hip Hop Treasures is sure to be a hit with hip hop fans of all ages.

The show debuts on Aug. 12 at 10 p.m. on A&E.

Drake Received The Key To Memphis, Which Left Some Fans Confused And/Or Upset That The Toronto Native Got The Honor

Drake raps about riding through the 6 (slang for Toronto, Canada) with his woes and attending Toronto Raptors games, but he has love for another North American city. The “Parade On Cleveland” rapper was just awarded the key to Memphis — more specifically, to the county in which the city falls into, Shelby County. However, fans immediately took issue with it as he’s not a native of the city.

As the clip of Chairman Mickell Lowry presenting Drake with the honor hit social media, users shared their confusion.

One user wrote, “A Canadian? *no offense *.”

Another hinted that this key should have gone to a host of other native rappers, posting a meme with the caption, “Every Memphis Rapper Right Now [crying emoji].”

While one person alleged that Drake doesn’t truly care for Memphis or the greater area after he pulled out of a prior commitment. “But rescheduled our concert in Memphis that was THIS Thursday ……oh okay,” penned the user.

On the other hand, some users didn’t care about the honor per se but rather that Drake didn’t bother to dress up for the occasion. “When you got the key to the city ceremony at 12 and pick up game at 12:30,” posted a user.

Although Drake isn’t a native of Memphis, his father, Dennis Graham, is. Drake has, as Chairman Lowry pointed out, shown Memphis a deal of respect in his solo music as well as in his collaborations with native Memphis acts. In 2013, he shot his video for the single “Worst Behavior” off the album Nothing Was The Same in the city. The visual, directed by Director X, featured appearances by hometown heroes Turk of the Hot Boys, Juicy J, Project Pat, and MJG from 8Ball & MJG.

Also, in his 2018 collaboration with native BlockBoy JB, “Look Alive,” Drake highlighted his family home in the city by rapping, “901 Shelby Drive / Look Alive / Look Alive.”

2022 gave us a taste of the long-awaited Nicki Minaj comeback, but that had nothing compared to what the Queen artist plans to deliver later this year. Back in the spring, she confirmed that her next studio album is coming this October, and from the singles we’ve heard so far, Minaj is sure to come through with her usual hard-hitting lyricism that will leave listeners doing double takes before laughing. On Monday (June 26), she surprised The Barbz with yet another must-listen collaborative effort, this one with Young Thug and the late Juice WRLD.

“Money” hit streamers after social media lit up with an Instagram Story interaction between the two creatives. Following the debut, Minaj hopped on Live to discuss working with the YSL leader, among other things. “We can’t not have Thug,” she told followers tuning in. “I didn’t realize… I think a lot of people didn’t realize how important Young Thug is to the culture of rap. We really need him home, like this man is a different level of talent,” the mother of one declared.

Elsewhere during her stream, Minaj invited JT (who’s been in the headlines for reasons of her own lately) to join her for a quick chat. The two chopped it up about plenty of hot topics – namely the difficulties of having large breasts. As you may recall, the Trinidadian hinted in an IG post earlier this month that she followed through on her plants to undergo a reduction after giving birth to Papa Bear.

The City Girl certainly didn’t hold back when discussing the woes of being a big-chested woman, but she did bite her tongue when it came to her viral BET Awards spat with Lil Uzi Vert. According to online gossip, JT threw her phone at her partner after he was chatting with Ice Spice during the event. NBA YoungBoy Shares Post For His Incarcerated Father

NBA YoungBoy addressed his incarcerated father in a post on his Instagram Story, earlier this week. His dad was sentenced to 55 years in prison when YoungBoy was just 8 years old for, as The Fader puts it, a “robbery gone wrong.” After that, he moved in with his maternal grandmother.

“No matter if I see you in the right way or the wrong way again my n***a, I’m gone be smiling,” YoungBoy captioned a photo of his father. “I went thru this experience on my own you built that one bitch I’m trying [to] tell you. I’m on top of the love, Jeff.”

YoungBoy previously discussed his upbringing with Billboard for an extensive profile, earlier this year. At the time, he revealed that his grandmother passed away in 2010, at which he point he moved into a group home. He explained that he was bullied by the other kids there.

“The other boys would put their hands on me, and I would look up like, ‘Why are you hitting me, bro? What’d I do?’” he recalled to the outlet. “It made me discover another side of me that I never glorified or liked. I found out how to be the person that you don’t want to do that with. [Before then], I never understood all the evilness or wrong because I was showered by so much love from this one person.”

NBA YoungBoy’s Message For His Father

In other NBA YoungBoy news, the rapper’s mother recently paid a visit to his home in Utah amid his continued house arrest. The trip comes after she spoke about his upbringing in a recent interview shared by No Jumper. “No, he’s really one of my best children,” she said of YoungBoy. “Because he cares about other people. Ever since he been little, he do stuff for his sisters and brothers. When he first got his little money, his sister was 16, he was like 14. He bought her a car… bought her a little Chrysler… but it was about $3,000 or $4,000. He always took care of his sister and his little brother, he always do for his friends. If he go to the store, he gon’ bring them back something, like candy. He help the neighbors…”
