SOURCE SPORTS: MVP’s Most Valuable Prospects 9 Undercard Bouts Announced

Today, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) announced a series of undercard matchups  for the ninth installment of its Most Valuable Prospects series as the company expands into Puerto Rico, taking place in Caguas, Puerto Rico at the Coliseo Roger Mendoza on Friday, October 11th, available globally on DAZN. Most Valuable Prospects 9 will be headlined by 23-year-old Puerto Rican National Team star  Jan Paul Rivera (10-0, 6 KOs) vs. 22-year-old Andy “Skeletor” Beltran (8-0, 5 KOs) in a 8-round featherweight bout for the WBO Youth World title.

Joining the undercard will be MVP’s young sensation Krystal Rosado (4-0, 2 KOs), who will face Mexico’s Perla Lomeli (6-2) in a 6-round super bantamweight bout, and MVP’s three-time US national boxing champion and high-fashion model Alexis “Chop Chop” Chaparro (2-0, 2 KOs) in a 4-round middleweight bout. Rounding out the main card will be an 8-round welterweight bout between Elijah Flores (8-0, 3 KOs) vs. Caguas, Puerto Rico native Omar Rosario (13-1, 4 KOs).

The preliminary card will feature a 6-round super featherweight bout between Caguas, Puerto Rico’s own William “Yeyo” Colón (4-0, 2 KO’s) vs. fellow Puerto Rican Jan “El Pescador” Pomales Rivera (7-3, 4 KOs) and an 8 round battle between undefeated heavyweights Herich Ruiz (5-0, 4 KOs) vs. Travorus Barnes (6-0, 5 KOs). Carlos Jamil De Leon (1-0, 1 KO), the 19-year-old San Juan native and Puerto Rican amateur champion, will also join the preliminary card.

Universal Promotions will serve as the official promoter with Boxlab Promotions serving as co-promoter for Most Valuable Prospects 9, presented by CELSIUS Live Fit Essential Energy. The event marks a significant milestone for MVP as it brings its up-and-coming talent showcase series to Puerto Rican soil for the first time in partnership with MVP’s boxing trailblazer, the most decorated Puerto Rican champion of all time, Amanda Serrano and her manager Jordan Maldonado. MVP’s expanding venture in Puerto Rico aims to spotlight the island’s rich boxing heritage and identify development opportunities with Puerto Rican talent. YG Arrested For Misdemeanor DUI After Allegedly Parking His Car On A Curb

Authorities have arrested YG for a misdemeanor DUI offense in Burbank, California, according to TMZ, which cited law enforcement sources. Police allegedly spotted him parked up on a curb and standing outside his vehicle on Tuesday morning. In a picture from the scene of the arrest, YG sits on the curb with his arms crossed while speaking with an officer.

YG’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, told TMZ that he’s still gathering more information on the situation and is focused on his client’s health for the time being. Law enforcement sources also told the outlet it’s unclear if the rapper was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He didn’t take a breathalyzer test on the scene, but did give up a blood sample.

YG Performs On The “Red Cup Tour” At The Kia Forum

The legal trouble comes after YG dropped his latest project, JUST RE’D UP 3, back in August. The project sees him collaborating with Babyface Ray, G Herbo, Larry June, Lil Yachty, Mozzy, Saweetie, Tee Grizzley, and Ty Dolla Sign over the course of 19 songs. He also made headlines for leading a peace walk through Compton with members of the rival gangs, Treetop Pirus and Fruit Town Pirus, that same month. “It’s a good day — it’s a good day in Bompton right now!” he said at the event. He also posed for pictures with The Game, who added: “For me, this sh*t bring tears to my eyes homie. To see this much red and sh*t. Westside Bompton, n***a, every hood. Everybody good. Ain’t no bullsh*t. Ain’t nobody feel no tension. This sh*t make a n***a happy. That’s what it do for me. I don’t know what it do for you.”

Zion Williamson Gets Fed Up With Reporter Asking Why Kendrick Lamar Wasn’t On His Playlist

The 2024-2025 NBA season is approaching fast, and this year’s media day has already come and went. However, one team’s player is making some headlines for their press conference appearance. According to Billboard, New Orleans Pelicans star forward Zion Williamson answered various questions throughout his 13 minutes on the mic. However, one reporter toward the end really got on Zion’s nerves. At around the 12:30 mark, the man asks him a two-parter. One of them is basketball related in regard to his new teammate Dejounte Murray. The other one though, was completely unrelated to the Pelicans.

It was a pretty confrontational one, as the reporter inquired, “Why wasn’t Kendrick Lamar on your list for off-season workout playlists”? Previously, Zion Williamson stated that he had been bumping a lot of Nas, Larry June, Curren$y, and Biggie. This obviously pushed some sort of button for the reporter because he feels “like you have two good songs you could’ve been playing in the gym”. Zion wanted to know which songs he was referring to. That’s when the man replied, “‘Euphoria’ and ‘Not Like Us.’ Where was the greatness of the summer in your tracklist”?

Zion Williamson Was Done With The Press Conference After This

The former Duke Blue Devil let the obvious Lamar stan that he’s got a lot of respect for the MC. “I hear you”, he began. However, he just ultimately didn’t choose to have him playing during his training sessions. “But you know, you’re entitled to your opinion. I’m entitled to mine”. Not too long after saying that though, Zion grew frustrated and wound up ending his press conference perhaps sooner than expected after saying, “But saying that c’mon, it’s Kendrick Lamar. Like, I really gotta sit up here and talk about how good of an artist he is”? Overall, it’s a pretty uncomfortable interaction, so if you get secondhand embarrassment, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

Controversial New Docuseries ‘Tupac: Cover-Up’ Gets Pressure To Make Changes, Instead Finds Home On Xumo Play

Once word was out that a new documentary series, “Tupac: Cover Up,” was released for the late rapper’s death anniversary on September 13, 2024, a panicked group of individuals began to call major platforms, making false claims about the show in an attempt to have it taken off the air.

In fact, the docuseries’ producers were contacted about the matter, and one of the platforms made an unprecedented request; “Remove certain content, or we will remove the documentary.”

One need only look at the docuseries as a whole- NOW AVAILABLE ON XUMO PLAY to understand why certain groups are creating pressure on these platforms to silence the filmmakers: the documentary focuses on the life and death of the Grammy-winning artist Tupac Shakur, but also focuses on the moments following the unsolved shooting. The series makes the claim that from five minutes after the shooting until charges were returned from a Las Vegas Nevada Grand Jury last year, a group of self-interested individuals, some of which were alleged to be informants for the Federal Government, have carefully planted and cultivated a 27-year narrative that in truth has not one shred of physical evidence attached to it—just “hood lore” which they have perpetuated.

“Tupac: Coverup” features new and unheard interviews with celebrities (Mykelti Williamson, of Heat and Forrest Gump fame) Death Row Insiders (Kevin Black, Mike Nixon), Industry Insiders (Billy Johnson, Jr., Cynthia Horner, Janie Jennings), Law Enforcement (FBI Special Agent Phil Carson, who lead the Tupac/Biggie investigations for the FBI) as well as unheard and unreleased material from former Tupac bodyguards, friends and family. Athena Bond is the Executive producer, and Edna Sims is the film’s producer.

“We have had documented communications with the platforms showing that individuals with- shall we say- clear conflicts of interest didn’t follow the platform procedures for making claims against a show,” says Producer Richard “RJ” Bond, known for his previous works on the matter: 2020’s “Last Man Standing” and the beloved “Tupac Assassination” trilogy of movies.

“They did stupid stunts like calling the platform customer service departments and screaming at the poor representative on the phone.  In our current “squeaky wheel” culture, extreme acts and rhetoric get moved to the front of the line. The platforms don’t always want to support Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Speech. This form of “consumer terrorism” and resulting censorship- is a big problem for everyone.”

The “Tupac: Cover Up” producers took last week to decide: Do they leave the story out—which has received incredible reviews from fans who viewed an estimated 400,000 minutes of the show for its premiere date—untouched? Or do they make politically correct changes to cave to trouble with radical individuals?

“Well, let’s take a look at how Tupac viewed pressure; he went after C Delores Tucker and the entire government over trying to suppress his message. How would we honor him by silencing voices to serve a convenient and popular narrative?” added Bond.

Bond has put together a block-busting list of Former FBI agents, former Vegas law enforcement, Death Row “insiders” and music industry leaders that give credible and damning information regarding the motives behind the “False Narrative”. “Tupac: Cover Up” uses Vegas’ police files, grand jury testimony, and impeachable statements to demonstrate how flimsy the Vegas case is. This is a problem for those with less-than-clean agendas.

“After the documentary dropped, I was contacted by the family of Mr. Davis, the man charged in the murder of Shakur. They are understandably interested in the show’s talking points and feel we adequately addressed the situation. I hope to be in better contact with his defense team, whom I intentionally did not speak to until the show’s release.”  

And the docuseries?

“We elected to partner with Xumo, an upcoming internet streaming venture owned by Comcast and Charter networks. Xumo got the situation right away, realized the foolishness, and agreed to keep the show as it was and not compromise our artistic vision, said Bond.

“Time to step up to the bullies who control media by threats and extreme rhetoric.”

SOURCE SPORTS: Former GB Packers Star Eddie Lacy Arrested For “Extreme DUI” In Arizona

Former Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy was arrested last night for what Scottsdale Police are calling a case of “extreme DUI”.

Scottsdale PD reported that they pulled Lacy over Monday night after they noticed the NFL star committing several moving violations. When he stopped, Lacy was showing signs of being overtly intoxicated, thus, the 34-year-old was arrested and booked on four separate DUI charges, including “Extreme DUI — BAC .20 or more.”

Lacy was also charged for “liquor – possess open container in vehicle,” among his host of infractions ,according to a police statement.

A spokesperson from the facility where Lacy was held said that he was released early this morning(October 1). There were no other details about his arrest available at press time.

Lacy, know as one of the toughest offensive backs in the NFL, rushed for over 2,000 yards and 20 TDs in his first two seasons after being drafted by Green Bay in the 2nd round of the NFL Draft in 2013. He left the league after a bid with the Seattle Seahawks in 2017.

Ms. Lauryn Hill Extends 'Miseducation' 25th Anniversary Tour

Pras Michél, a founding member of the Grammy-winning hip-hop group The Fugees, has filed a lawsuit against bandmate Lauryn Hill, accusing her of fraud and breach of contract related to their shortened 2023 tour and a canceled 2024 tour.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in the Southern District of New York, alleges that Hill mismanaged various aspects of the 2023 tour, including its setup, marketing, and budget. According to the complaint, Hill’s actions were “a veiled and devious attempt to make a big score for herself,” with claims that she siphoned money from the tour guarantees for personal gain.

Variety reports that Pras also accuses Hill of preventing an audit of the tour’s finances, alleging that she withheld funds that should have been shared among the band. The full list of claims against Hill includes fraud, fraud in the inducement, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, and refusal to permit an audit of the tour.

The Fugees, known for hits like “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not,” had previously reunited for their 2023 tour, which was cut short before it fully launched. The legal battle now casts uncertainty over the future of one of hip-hop’s most iconic groups.

“This morning, we filed a complaint for Prakazrel ‘Pras’ Michel against Lauryn Hill and MLH Touring, Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York (Case 1:24-cv-07403) for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and breach of contract. The lawsuit alleges that Ms. Hill exploited Mr. Michel’s vulnerable legal situation, manipulating him into an unfair agreement for The Fugees’ 2023 reunion tour. Ms. Hill’s chronic tardiness was a hallmark of the tour, with shows routinely starting two or more hours late. Hill cancelled the second half of the tour and, at the same time, financially penalized and defrauded Mr. Michel. We assert that Ms. Hill misrepresented critical financial information and concealed her intent to take an excessive 60% share of the tour’s proceeds, leaving Mr. Michel with only 20% instead of the group’s customary one-third split. This legal action aims to hold Ms. Hill accountable and secure justice for Mr. Michel. The lawsuit comes on the cusp of the “Fugees” European tour by Hill and Wyclef Jean, at which Michael will not be performing.”

In response to The Source, Ms. Lauryn Hill addresses Pras Michél’s lawsuit:

Some clarity and facts need to be presented. I’ve been silent and pushing through because I understood that Pras was under duress because of his legal battles and that this was perhaps affecting his judgment, state of mind and character.

Fact #1: This baseless lawsuit by Pras is full of false claims and unwarranted attacks. It notably omits that he was advanced overpayment for the last tour and has failed to repay substantial loans extended by myself as an act of goodwill. Last year’s tour was put together to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. It was being planned whether the Fugees were involved or not.
Fact #2: The tour was expanded to incorporate the Fugees because I found out that Pras was in trouble and would need money to aid his legal defense.

Fact #3: Pras was given a $3M advance for the tour, which he said he required to pay his legal fees. Wyclef and Myself deferred our full advances to make sure he had what he needed and was able to go. I covered most of the tour expenses, as the majority of the tour advance had gone to Pras. An agreement was put in place to secure the repayment of the money he was advanced. Pras has not paid back the money he was advanced, and is currently in breach of this agreement.

Fact #4: Because my tour, band, production, and set up were already happening, the Fugees set utilized this same production. I absorbed most of the expenses myself, produced the show, put together the entire set (with Wyclef’s participation for the Fugees and Wyclef’s set). Pras basically just had to show up and perform.

Fact #5: As of the last tour Pras thanked me for ‘saving his life’. (I have the receipts.)
Fact #6: I am not in the business of kicking anyone, especially when they’re down, which is why I haven’t responded to date. It is absolutely disheartening to see Pras in this position, my band mate and someone I considered a friend but this leads us to Fact #7, which probably should have been Fact #1…

Fact #7: I was not in Pras’ life when he decided to make the unfortunate decision that lead to his current legal troubles. I did not advise that he make that decision and therefore am in no way responsible for his decision and its consequences though I have taken it upon myself to help. Despite his attacks, I am still compassionate and hope things work out for him.
