CJ Plays A Simmering Rendition Of ‘Bop’ For ‘UPROXX Sessions’

In a bit of a curveball for his first Uproxx Sessions performance, buzzing Staten Island rapper CJ foregoes his big hit, “Whoopty,” in favor of playing a simmering rendition of its slick follow-up “Bop.” Sporting a low-key black-on-black ensemble, CJ delivers a pitch-perfect performance with all the restrained energy of the swaggering original recording.

CJ, who saw the 2020 “Whoopty” climb all the way to the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100, was resolute in pursuing the success of his breakout hit with new music, following up with an EP, Loyalty Over Royalty, earlier this year. This past New Music Friday, he dropped a deluxe edition, which featured two remixes of “Whoopty” that approached the song from different angles.

On the NYC Remix, he recruited vocal doppelganger French Montana and the recently released Brooklyn drill prototype Rowdy Rebel to add complementary verses to his, then, on the Latin Mix, he employed fellow Latino artists Anuel AA and Ozuna to speak their piece. Not content to just ride remixes of his breakout, CJ also dropped videos for most of the songs on the EP, including “Bop,” “Real One,” and “Set,” then put out a new song from the deluxe, the sex-positive “Lil Freak” featuring fellow New Yorker DreamDoll.

Watch CJ’s Uproxx Sessions performance of “Bop” above.

UPROXX Sessions is Uproxx’s performance show featuring the hottest up-and-coming acts you should keep an eye on. Featuring creative direction from LA promotion collective, Ham On Everything, and taking place on our “bathroom” set designed and painted by Julian Gross, UPROXX Sessions is a showcase of some of our favorite performers, who just might soon be yours, too.

CJ is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Madonna Moves Into The Weeknd’s $19 Million Mansion

Madonna is moving into The Weeknd’s old home in the Hidden Hills, purchasing the mansion for approximately $19 million, according to multiple reports.

The home is located in the Hidden Hills, which is the same neighborhood that the Kardashian sisters call home. It used to belong to The Weeknd before he listed it on the market for nearly $25 million. The selling price marks a stark reduction from what the artist was seeking. However, considering he bought the home for just over $18 million in 2017, he doesn’t appear to be losing much money.

TMZ reports that the house has over 12,000 square feet of living space, including nine bedrooms, nine-and-a-half bathrooms, a gigantic pool, a full-sized basketball court, and more beautiful amenities. Sitting on over three acres of land, Madonna will have more than enough room to do whatever she pleases in the vast backyard.

The Weeknd has already locked down his next home, signing the dotted line on a gorgeous penthouse apartment for $25 million two years ago.

This news comes just weeks after Madonna made headlines because of a TikToker’s accusations that the legendary artist was stealing her photos, editing her face onto them, and posting them on social media. The Weeknd has been in the news because of his latest charitable donations, pledging $1 million to help hunger relief efforts in Ethiopia.

Blac Chyna Remixes Moneybagg Yo’s “Said Sum”

MoneyBagg Yo had one of the hottest songs of the last year with “Said Sum”. The star of HotNewHipHop’s latest digital cover story, Bagg always has a sense of what’s going to be the next biggest slang term, getting on top of all the trends in his music. His latest single “Hard For The Next” with Future has been going off in recent weeks but still, “Said Sum” remains a favorite from his catalog.

This week, Blac Chyna felt like flexing her skills in the studio to the record, filming a low-budget video for her new remix of “Said Sum”. The remix is officially out now and, already, it’s been getting some pretty mixed reviews. While Chyna’s core fanbase is glad to see her diving head-first into her passion, rap fans aren’t in love with her flows, commenting that she’s improved as an artist but that she still sounds disinterested at times.

Quotable Lyrics:

B*tches be hatin’, I get to the bag and I flash it
I need a milli to show up, and a penny less, you get no action

I’m in love with the money, it stay on my mind, I’m obsessed, get it with passion

Lil Nas X Claims “MONTERO” Will Be Taken Off Streaming Services Tomorrow

Is the current #2 song in the country being removed from streaming services this week? According to Lil Nas X, his new single “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)”, which is about a same-sex relationship, could be taken down from the internet tomorrow.

The pop star has been surrounded by all sorts of controversy related to the song, but most of the backlash has to do with the official music video. In the clip, Lil Nas X rides a pole from Heaven to Hell before giving the devil a lapdance. Additionally, the rapper also released 666 pairs of his sneaker collaboration with MSCHF, which used real human blood in the design. Apparently, the marketing plan that was employed by the hitmaker might have been a little too risky because he says the song is about to be removed from Spotify, Apple Music, TIDAL, and other services.

“Not even joking. everybody stream call me by your name hard today because it may no longer be available tomorrow and there’s nothing i can really do about it,” said LNX on Twitter. “Since call me by your name is no longer working on many streaming services i will be uploading the audio to pornhub at 3pm est,” he added in a second tweet.

The artist didn’t reveal why streaming services were allegedly targeting his song but some fans have posted screenshots of the record no longer playing on their ends.

For what it’s worth, the song is still playing for us on Spotify, Apple Music, and TIDAL. Also, Billboard issued a statement confirming that the song isn’t actually being removed. So, was this all part of Lil Nas X’s master plan again?

DreamDoll Takes On CJ’s “Whoopty” On New Freestyle

The “Whoopty” beat circulated drill scenes across the globe (when it wasn’t called ‘Whoopty’) but it was Staten Island’s CJ that brought it into mainstream consciousness. Even non-drillers began tackling the beat and putting their own spin on the record. The latest to do it is none other than the Bronx’s rising star DreamDoll who came for every rapper’s neck — male or female. Her delivery cuts deeper than the bars themselves but Doll’s boastful presence on the track feels even bigger over this particular beat.

The new freestyle arrives days after she assisted CJ on the release of his single, “Lil Freak” which earned over a million views in a matter of days.

Check out DreamDoll’s remix to “Whoopty” below.

You don’t want me act a fool
You might end up on the news
Make a n***a buy me every bag
But this rap shit, I’m payin’ dues

YFN Lucci’s Bond Could Be Revoked Due To Strip Club Visit: Report

Earlier this year, YFN Lucci was arrested and hit with murder and gang-related charges. The rapper is accused of being involved in the fatal shooting of a 29-year-old man in Atlanta. With heavy bond conditions in place, he was released from prison but prosecutors are now trying to keep him in custody until the murder case comes to an end.

Per TMZ, prosecutors on the case are seeking to get YFN Lucci’s bond revoked for allegedly violating his bond conditions. The Atlanta rapper is accused of having paid a visit to a strip club and a recording studio which prosecutors say breach the terms of his agreement. They said the rapper hit the club shortly after he posted bond, and later visited the studio on the same night. Prosecutors added that the club they said he went to is the same club that’s being investigated for a gang-related shooting.

In addition to allegations of violating his conditions, court documents reveal that the prosecutors also claimed that Lucci tinkered with his ankle monitor. They cite irregularities and missing data over long stretches of time as the basis of the allegation.

On top of the strip club, studio visits, and alleged tampering of his ankle monitor, they said he also tested positives for cannabis and opiates in his system.

The judge has yet to rule on whether they’ll revoke Lucci’s bond. Stay posted for updates.

Chloe Bailey Treats The Internet To Another Set Of Stunning Selfies

Chloe Bailey has quickly become the internet’s favorite sweetheart. Ever since she and her sister and bandmate Halle Bailey launched their own solo social media pages, the older half of the duo has turned up the heat regarding the content she posts. First going viral for her jaw-dropping #BussItChallenge, internet users have come to expect the occasional set of sexy shots on her page every now and then.

In her most recent set of stunning photos, the songstress once again sent the internet into a frenzy. Rocking nothing but a scandalous cut-out black leotard in the images shared yesterday (April 12), Chloe struck fierce poses in the sultry mirror selfies. “nothing like a good mirror selfie,” penned Chloe in the caption

In one photo, she poses facing forward, showing off her sinched hourglass figure. In another shot, she poses sideways, flashing an alluring look to the camera and flaunting her infamous curves.

Quickly going viral on Twitter and racking up nearly 200,000 favorites since being posted, she also shared the shots on her newly-founded Instagram account, which has reached a cool 763,000 likes in the 20 hours it’s been uploaded. As expected, reactions to the new selfies on social media echoed previously expressed sentiments.

Luckily, Chloe has been recognized for both her immense talent and her stellar physique. Last month the 22-year-old wowed listeners with her sultry Silk Sonic cover, while her “You’re Mines Still” cover had Yung Bleu himself ready to collaborate with her.
