Ransom Calls On Fellow New Yorkers 38 Spesh And Che Noir For “Scape Goats”

New York’s lyrical rappers’ pool is gargantuan. Three of the superior talents come together to form an Avengers-like team on this new East Coast cut from Ransom, 38 Spesh, and Che Noir. Ransom is the headliner here, with 38 and Noir joining him to spit some incredible bars. What is also cool about this single is that Ransom splits each verse with his features. He and 38 tag team the first verse and then he works with the female MC on the backend.

It creates a fun dynamic and shows how Ransom fits perfectly alongside each rapper. Good luck deciding on who takes the gold medal for best performance. All three provide tremendous wordplay and command of their flows. The beat is made by Prophecy and it has a grand feel with its string sections.

He continues to keep busy with this being his second release of this weekend. His collaboration with Buffalo, New York coke rapper Conway the Machine is a great release as well.

NLE Choppa Claims “College Girls” Have More Fun On His Latest Single

NLE Choppa’s controversial nature is one of the reasons why he is a popular name in the current hip-hop landscape. His most recent solo single, “It’s Getting Hot,” paid a fairly standard homage to Nelly’s classic party tune, “Hot In Herre.” That track came out at the end of July and it sparked a lot of people to debate whether the song was indeed, hot. For many, it was not raising the temperature, but Choppa is back to try and fix the heat he has been receiving. His newest effort, “College Girls” already has some people buzzing about it.

The reason for that is Choppa went to his Twitter to post about the meaning of the song. In his message below to his followers, he believes girls attending university know how to have a good time. Besides, he has experienced it before, “College girls have mooo fun. I know from experience [three partying face emojis].” That was sent without much context at all, until about three hours later he shared the cover art for “College Girls.”

RapTV confirmed this on their Instagram page saying that the track’s inspiration stems from Choppa’s threes*** he had with college girls. Apparently, according to the lyrics it seems these girls could have been attending Duke University and its biggest rival North Carolina. The cover art for the single may look to include the Polaroid pictures he references in the first verse with the girls he was messing around with. It is sure to get more listeners talking about it but, hopefully its positive reviews for Choppa.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new track, “College Girls,” from NLE Choppa? Is this a direction you like to see the rapper go in? Joyner Lucas Pays Homage To Mac Miller On “Seventeen”

Joyner Lucaslong string of singles continues with another release on September 8. The Worcester Massachusetts rapper recently put out “Seventeen” ahead of his next full-length project, Not Now, I’m Busy. Lucas attempted this same formula for his first album back in 2020, ADHD. For the rollout of that LP, he went on to drop nine singles starting in October 2018. ADHD did not hit streaming until March of 2020. Will he give the same type of treatment for Not Now, I’m Busy? We will have to wait and see because according to HipHopNMore there is no timetable for when we will receive his fifth project.

In the meantime, Joyner is back with his sixth lead single, “Seventeen.” On this cut, he is spitting about his come-up from his rough upbringing. On the first verse, he talks about manifesting his dreams from when he was a kid. He raps, “They never knew that one day all this s*** I be dreamin’ about, I’d be livin’ it (Ayy) / Jump out the window and took the advantage, I know my potential is limitless (Joyner).”

The real selling point of this song is the sample. When the instrumental begins the high-pitched kid vocals might ring a bell to you. They are familiar because they are the ones in Mac Miller’s smash hit “Donald Trump.” Miller passed away five years ago on September 7 and it is fitting that “Seventeen was released just one day after the anniversary of his passing. Lucas shouts out Mac at the beginning saying, “Rest in peace Mac Miller,” while he recreates an opening shot from the “Donald Trump” music video. All in all, it is a solid track that pays its respects to one of the truly special talents in hip-hop history.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new track, “Seventeen,” by Joyner Lucas? Is this the best single for his next album? Did he do a good job tributing Mac Miller’s hit? A.R. The Mermaid Drops Stripper Anthem With “Watt We Doing”

One of the hottest spots for hip-hop talent has to be Memphis, Tennessee. The female rappers that have been popping up on people’s radars are astronomical. You have artists such as GloRilla and K Carbon. Now, you have to throw A.R. The Mermaid into that mix as well. The rapper began dropping music to streaming platforms just a couple of years ago in 2021. Her first song to release was “Acting” and since that point A.R. continue to gain a bigger following.

Mermaid’s biggest tracks so far are “Let A Ho Play” and “Sneaky Link,” respectively. Both songs combine for over 123,000 streams on Spotify. This notoriety from listeners had a few labels gunning to sign her. The lucky bidders were 300 Entertainment, according to AllHipHop. This occured in early January of 2023 and right around the time of inking her record deal, The Boy, also known as Drake, gave her an Instagram follow. All of this is showing how fast Mermaid’s rise to fame is.

Listen To “Watt We Doingg” From A.R. The Mermaid

It should continue to climb with this newest single called, “Watt We Doingg.” This song title seems to be a little theme when it comes to the names of her songs. Mermaid also has tracks spelled this way such as, “Watt U Wanna Do” and “Watts Up.” “Watt We Doingg” is already her most frequently played track and it has not been out for that long. It is all about getting to the point and getting some action in with Mermaid’s partner. The track also shouts out to all the pretty ladies and is a strip club anthem if we have ever heard one. It is safe to say this will not be the last time you hear of her from HNHH.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new song, “Watt We Doingg,” from A.R. The Mermaid? Is this one of the better songs she has put out? Which track is your favorite from the rapper? Shabazz Palaces And Lil Tracy Come Together For Woozy “Woke Up In A Dream”

Seattle-based rap duo of Ishmael Butler and Tendai Maraire, also known as Shabazz Palaces, is back with a pretty interesting collaboration. Their new song “Woke Up In A Dream,” features rapper Lil Tracy, who worked alongside Lil Peep for years before his passing. However, this combination is extra special, because Tracy is related to Ishmael Butler. He is not a second cousin or anything far-fetched like that, these two are father and son. StereoGum shared this insight about Tracy and Butler.

The father (Butler) says his son is a big influence, “My son hella influences me, and not just musically. He was home visiting, and we were just lounging around, talking s*** and smoking weed, etc.” He continues, “Over the course of the night, he would go in and lay stuff down… He’d go back in, layering and sculpting and then floating the background ghost vocals.  I was trying to play it cool, but I was geeked – when I heard what he did, I was like, “‘DAMN, this dude is really HIM.’” From the sounds of it Ishmael could not be more excited that Tracy helped him with this song.

We can see why because the song is very ghostly and cold. While it is a little hard to understand a lot of the lyrics, the vocals from Tracy with the sound effects do make “Woke Up In A Dream” feel like you are in another dimension. The track is very well-produced with that work coming from Tendai Maraire. This single will feature on their upcoming mini-album, Robed In Rareness. The project is due to be out on October 27 and will be released via Sub Pop.

What are your initial thoughts on this brand new song, “Woke Up In A Dream,” from Shabazz Palaces and Lil Tracy? Is this the best single for the duo’s upcoming album, Robed In Rareness? Cam’ron Is Riding A Huge Wave Of Confidence On “Go & Get It”

Kill Cam is back to feed the fans with a new single called, “Go & Get It.” This is his second solo single of 2023, on top of a collaboration track he did with Bengi C. Notes and Jaughti Naughtica with “Runnin Stop Signs.” The two cuts he released on his own include, “DIP DIP SET SET” and “It’s Only Money.” The latter of the two independent records features the cover art with the same font as the logo for Cam’ron’s talk show, IT IS WHAT IT IS TALK. It is a sports talk show that can be found on YouTube, Spotify, and plenty of other streaming platforms. “It’s Only Money” was put out on August 4, just a few weeks before he and Ma$e inked a massive deal with sports betting company, Underdog Fantasy.

It seems a little suspicious that Cam’ron would drop a song talking about money. Especially, right before signing on the dotted line for an 18-month contract worth around $30 million. Nonetheless, it is still a tremendous accomplishment in a stellar and legendary career. However, it does get you wondering if this latest effort, “Go & Get It,” has something to do with securing the bag recently.

Cam’ron is rapping about flexing hard all over the woodwind-backed beat. The hi-hats are a nice touch and the East Coast boom-bap feel is the perfect habitat for Killa Cam. He kills the instrumental, that is for sure. Additionally, the beat has a ghostly and haunting atmosphere which compliments his intimidating persona.

GloRilla Teams Up With Tons Of Female Memphis Rappers For Gnarly Cut, “Wrong One”

Memphis songstress, GloRilla continues to have a knack for bringing wild energy to a track. Even when a song is a bit more low-key, the rapper can turn the levels up to 1000 in a hurry. For example, look at her feature from Don Toliver’s latest record, Love Sick. She lays down a feature on the third track, “Leave The Club,” which also includes Lil Durk. Toliver is singing and rapping about leaving the nightlife to head back to his place to get things more intimate if you will.

However, near the backend of the track, the beat picks up and changes to where GloRilla can come in and dominate it. Her deep rumble provides a menacing element that you might not expect. But, that is what she can do for a song. It is a skill that is helping her blow up in the mainstream and fans are starting to pay attention to her unique sound.

Listen To “Wrong One” From GloRilla And More

The liveliness continues with this new single from her called, “Wrong One.” It is a song about GloRilla finding out her man is moving on from her with another woman. The theme around Glo’s music will not have you in your feelings. She takes a different approach to her situation. Along with the help of her friends, they go through and destroy the inside of his house. You can check that out in the music video above. Sampha Continues To Get Fans Ready For “Lahai” With “Only”

One of the most gorgeous and captivating voices in all of music is back with his second single for his highly-awaited album. We are talking about London songwriter and R&B artist, Sampha. His one and only full-length project was released all the way back in 2017. Process featured 10 tracks, along with a bonus edition that includes two extra songs. While it was a terrific project the following sophomore album will be longer which means we can hear more greatness from Sampha.

We already got the first single to his next album Lahai back on June 28. “Spirit 2.0” was a beautiful but somewhat sad track that was layered with tons of different instrumentation. That, along with this new song, “Only,” is giving us a nice glimpse as to how vast the sounds will be on this tracklist. This new cut is almost three minutes long and has more of a conventional R&B tune.

The looping hi-hats give it that feel, but there’s also the inclusion of violins and piano keys. In addition, you will find more awe-inspiring singing from Sampha. Fans should love this song and the upcoming album. A short bit ago, the singer posted to Instagram to announce his next musical journey with Lahai. He says, “LAHAI,” and then proceeds to list off the meaning behind it. “My grandfather’s name My middle name My next musical chapter My next album Fever Dreams. Continuums. Dancing. Generations. Syncopation. Bridges. Grief. Motherlands. Love. Spirit. Fear. Flesh. Flight.” All of these fairly vague characteristics are tantalizing and we cannot wait to listen to it on October 20.

Hotblock Jmoe Is “LOCKED IN FOREVER” On His Newest Track

As most hip-hop aficionados know, Chicago produces some of the best talent we have ever seen. From the generational artist Kanye West, lyrical powerhouse, Common, to one of the most influential rappers of this past decade, Chief Keef, the pool of names is huge. The pool will eventually become overflooded with rising stars, and Hotblock Jmoe is one to keep on your radar. The reason is that he is racking up streams by the day.

In fact, a big reason for that is due to his ability to grab established rappers for bangers. His songs have garnered tons of attention, with over 5 million views on YouTube. The tracks that have put more ears on him are the tracks with Yung Bleu, G Herbo, Tyla Yaweh, and Tory Lanez, respectively. Quavo Puts Out Visuals For “Galaxy” From “Rocket Power”

I gotta go up for Take’.” That is exactly what the head of the Migos, Quavo did back on August 18 of this year. The day reflects the release date of his sophomore solo project, Rocket Power. The 18-track LP is a tribute to his late nephew and trio member, Takeoff. He tragically passed on November 1, 2022, after he was fatally shot after a dice game went south. It put the world of hip-hop at a standstill as many, especially the Migos, mourned his untimely demise.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, we received the rapper and singer’s new project. The album did not perform well sales-wise, with about 32,000 copies sold. However, it is most likely safe to say that Quavo cares more about the impact of the record and the music behind it, rather than the dollar amount. That shows throughout the tracklist in different packages. The opening track, “Fueled Up” is an epic way to start the album with Quavo rapping about doing this for Takeoff. Simultaneously, this all performed over some amazing production.

Watch The Music Video For “Galaxy” From Quavo

A track that takes a different approach to showing emotion is “Galaxy.” It is more of an R&B cut, where Quavo is doing more melodic singing here. This song is about showering his lady with love and wanting to splurge on her. The beat has a nice groove as well that you can dance to or just sit back and relax and feel the vibe. The music video above features him with a woman in some Latin American country while also taking in the surroundings of city life. There are plenty of gorgeous shots containing the architecture and the native people.

What are your initial thoughts on this music video for “Galaxy” from Quavo? Is this the best song from Rocket Power? Is Rocket Power the better album compared to QUAVO HUNCHO?
