Young Thug And Lil Durk Sing A Loving Ode To The ‘Ghetto’ In Mustard’s LA-Spanning New Video

Mustard’s new album, Faith Of A Mustard Seed, is out now and its latest video is “Ghetto” featuring Lil Durk and Young Thug. In the video, the California producer gives a tour of his hometown, Los Angeles, while the Atlanta and Chicago natives offer their own fond perspectives on life in the hood. LA landmarks like Leimert Park’s Vision Theatre and Slauson Super Mall make appearances, along with youth dance teams and lowrider car clubs. It’s a loving look at places that so often get overlooked, and that for natives represent the real LA.

In addition to the usual array of superstar guests, Faith Of A Mustard Seed also features the producer’s own rap debut. Guests on the album include Durk, Thug, 42 Dugg, A Boogie wit da Hoodie, BlueBucksClan, Blxst, Charlie Wilson, Ella Mai, Future, Kirk Franklin, Lil Yachty, Masego, Quavo, Rob49, Roddy Ricch, Schoolboy Q, Travis Scott, Ty Dolla Sign, and Vince Staples. Young Thug’s appearance means a lot, because the Atlanta mainstay has been incarcerated for the past two years as part of a racketeering case that has become one of Fulton County’s long-running criminal trials ever.

You can watch the video for Mustard’s “Ghetto” with Lil Durk and Young Thug above.

Faith Of A Mustard Seed is out now via 10 Summers Records and Interscope. You can find more information here.

Mustard Drops His Best Album Yet With “Faith Of A Mustard Seed”

Mustard’s hit-making ability cannot be questioned. He was one of the producers who defined the sound of the 2010s. He has too many classic singles to count. That being said, Mustard’s propensity for singles extended to his albums. He had solid solo outings, but nothing that lived up to his one-off collabs. Until now. Faith of a Mustard Seed, Mustard’s fourth album, is his best yet. The Los Angeles producer finally put together all the pieces and delivered a project that’s catchy as it is cohesive and consistent. There are legitimately too many standout moments to catch in one sitting.

Kirk Franklin provides a spoken word intro, and once the album gets going, it doesn’t slow down. “Up Down” chops up an 80s synth line into a superhero theme for the likes of Lil Yachty and 42 Dugg. The next track, “Pressured Up,” goes full G-funk with menacing verses from Vince Staples and ScHoolboy Q. Quavo and Rob49 help Mustard switch things up yet again with the string-heavy street anthem “One of Them Ones.” The Travis Scott-aided single “Parking Lot” is still one of the best songs here, but it’s a testament to Mustard’s sequencing that the sample-driven banger fits in with the rest of the material here. The album’s slower moments also stick the landing. Ty Dolla Sign sounds perfect on “A Song for Mama,” while Blxst skates over “Worth a Heartbreak.” There’s not a weak link in the tracklist, and that includes Mustard’s own bars on the epic closer, “Pray for Me.” Mustard is not only still here, but he may be entering his prime.

Young Thug Receives Sympathetic Message From His Record Label Amid Lengthy Trial Process

YSL Records is backing Young Thug during his ongoing trial. Thug founded the label in 2016 which plays host to Gunna and formerly Lil Baby. YSL’s existence became a point of contention during Thug’s ongoing racketeering trial. Prosecutors argued that YSL was actually a gang, and that Thug has been quietly building a crime ring in Atlanta. The indictment named Gunna as well, but he was quickly released. Thug’s trial started in November 2023. Improper relationships and general questions surrounding the circumstances of the case have marred the proceedings. As of July 25, 2024, Thug’s trial is officially the longest in Georgia history.

Several judges have recused themselves from what has become one of the most controversial cases in recent memory. Previous judge Ural Glanville was recused following an off-the-record meeting with a member of the defense. Judge Shukura L. Ingram came next. She didn’t last long in the role either, as she recused herself only a couple of days later. She explained that her deputy previously engaged in an inappropriate relationship with Young Thug’s co-defendant, Big Bhris. Ingram alleged that her deputy tried to sneak contraband into jail for him. She argued that those facts could impact the court’s impartiality. Judge Paige Reese Whittaker is now in charge of the proceedings. Amidst all the drama, YSL Records showed support for the head of their label.

YSL Calls For Young Thug’s Release

“United States Constitution, Sixth Amendment: “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial…” #FreeJeffery #BondNow #FreeOurArt #ProtectBlackArt,” YSL’s Instagram caption reads. Thug has been on trial for nearly nine months. With mounting questions about the reliability of those in charge, questions about the trial’s fairness arose as well.

Regardless, he and lawyer Brian Steele are likely to have felt relief from the change in judges to someone that hopefully has no prior engagement with anyone involved in the case. After Glanville’s recusal, Steele issued a statement about the case, emphasizing the fact that Thug is seeking a “speedy” and “fair” trial with an impartial judge. Those are sentiments echoed in the latest YSL post. Hopefully, this trial reaches a conclusion soon, with a result determined solely by the evidence presented and not other agendas.

Young Thug & YSL’s New Judge Suggests Trial Might Delay Until August

The Young Thug and YSL RICO trial just underwent a massive overhaul, so it seems like it might need some time to fully get back into the swing of things. Moreover, the new judge in this case, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, reportedly organized an attorney-only hearing to do a progress check and outline what guidelines the court should follow moving forward. “I want to be moving forward efficiently and expeditiously,” Judge Whitaker allegedly told the legal teams (per Rolling Stone), and also admitted to “parachuting in” with little prior knowledge of this specific trial and case.

However, one of the most important alleged points that this meeting discussed was Judge Whitaker’s suggestion that the Young Thug trial might see another delay. According to these reports, she indicated that the jury might have to return to court sometime in August, presumably due to this change in judges throwing a huge wrench into the whole process. For those unaware, the court recused the original judge in the YSL case, Judge Glanville, for his poor handling of a controversial ex-parte meeting.

Then, Young Thug and YSL’s trial found a new judge quick in Judge Shukura Ingram, who took over within hours of Glanville’s exit. But the court saw yet another wild update and earth-shattering development when Judge Ingram recused herself from the trial barely a day after she emerged as its new overseeing authority. This was because of her previous court affiliation with one of the co-defendants in the YSL case, which could’ve presented more issues of conflicts of interest. Fortunately, it seems like Judge Whitaker is here to stay for now, and we’ll have to wait for August to see more signifiant updates.

“Jeffery Williams is innocent of the charges brought in this indictment,” Young Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel stated in relation to these judicial changes. “To clear his name he sought a speedy trial, one in which he would receive the constitutional guarantees of a fair trial with an impartial judge presiding and ethical prosecutors following the law. Sadly, Judge Glanville and the prosecutors have run afoul of their duties under of [sic] the law. Mr. Williams is grateful that the reviewing court agreed with him and entered the order recusing and disqualifying Judge Glanville from presiding over Mr. Williams’ case. We look forward to proceeding with a trial judge who will fairly and faithfully follow the law.”

Young Thug & YSL Trial’s New Judge Outlines Updated Courtroom Guidelines

The Young Thug and YSL RICO trial went through three judges in as many days, with Judge Paige Reese Whitaker now overseeing the case’s proceedings. Moreover, she recently issued a new list of courtroom guidelines for the defense, the prosecution, and all other participants to follow. These include a timely 8:45AM start time for court days with no exceptions (as long as all defendants have a lawyer present), no more eating in court barring an extended day working through meal times, and no more extensive wardrobe. Also, Judge Whitaker wants to minimize disruptions in court, ban defendants from using headphones during the trial, and leave no gaps between witnesses, indicating that the State needs to introduce their next witness immediately.

“Jeffery Williams is innocent of the charges brought in this indictment,” Young Thug’s attorney Brian Steel stated regarding the original judge for this case, Judge Glanville, being recused.

Young Thug’s New Judge Brings A New Set Of Rules

Elsewhere, this is what the judge between Glanville and Whitaker in this case, Judge Shukura Ingram, had to say about recusing herself from the trial almost immediately after the court assigned her to it. “Because this Court’s former assigned deputy could be called as a witness in any future proceedings in this case, the Court may be called upon to assess this deputy’s credibility, or rule on matters related to her criminal prosecution,” she wrote in a filing. “This may undermine the public’s confidence in the impartiality of the proceedings. While the Court does not regard the aforementioned situation as creating any actual bias for or against any party to this case, the Court does view this as a matter that could cause a reasonable person to question the Court’s impartiality and reasonably give rise to the appearance.”

Meanwhile, other folks already spoke on their negative assessment of how the trial progressed, including a former Georgia judicial chair. This Young Thug and YSL RICO case turned ugly years ago at this point, and now we must wait to see if this new era will prove more clear or effective. Still, this is just a speculative anticipation, and the next days of the trial will be a crucial indication of the future. Let’s hope things become more easy to understand, develop, and identify as fact or fiction in this trial.

The Young Thug Trial Got Its New Judge — Who Also Recused Herself Two Days Later

The high-profile racketeering case against Young Thug was assigned a new judge after the old one was removed, but the new judge is already off the case. According to local news coverage, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shukura Ingram was randomly assigned to the case on Monday (July 15), but today filed an Order of Recusal taking herself off the case.

Her reason for recusing herself was to avoid any appearance of favoritism or bias after it was revealed last June that her court deputy was involved in an inappropriate relationship with one of the YSL case’s co-defendants, Christian Eppinger. The former deputy had been assigned to Judge Ingram’s courtroom for almost six months by the time the relationship was discovered, and the deputy was arrested.

The deputy, identified by local news as Akeiba Stanley, was arrested after Fulton County deputies seized Eppinger’s attorney Eric Johnson’s laptop, after discovering it was being used to allow him to communicate with alleged YSL members not in custody. Stanley also allegedly used a phone to communicate with Eppinger, visited him in his jail cell, and tried to smuggle contraband into the jail for him.

Although Ingram maintained in her order that she didn’t think the connection constituted any “actual bias for or against any party to this case” (a pretty boilerplate response for this situation), she acknowledged that it could affect public perception. A new judge, Paige Reese Whitaker, has been assigned to the case. The prior one, Judge Ural Glanville, was recused after a third-party review following his order to hold Thug’s attorney Brian Steel in criminal contempt of court.

Young Thug’s Lawyer Delivers Strong Statement Following Judge Glanville’s Recusal

If there has been one bright spot throughout the Young Thug/YSL RICO trial, it is the rapper’s lawyer, Brian Steele. Fans of the hitmaker have been extremely appreciative of the effort he has put into this messy situation. Obviously, it is his job to fight tooth and nail for his defendant, but Steele continues to be a shimmering sign of hope that Thugger will come out of this. Perhaps the biggest win for the lawyer and the Georgia MC so far is the recusal of Judge Ural Glanville. He has been presiding over this case since the beginning and he continued to make questionable and seemingly unfair decisions.

A lot of people following this case have been convinced that Glanville was pulling out all of the stops to get Young Thug locked up. If that was his goal, he lost that opportunity as of yesterday. Brian Steele filed a motion to recuse the troublesome judge. Countless times, the lawyer has stood firm on his position that Glanville had been leading and unfair. Even a former Georgia judicial chair expressed how chaotic it has been.

Thug and Steele’s successful motion got them a new overseer just hours after Glanville’s removal. Her name is Judge Shukura L. Ingram and so far, outsiders to this case are not all that optimistic about what the future holds. However, Steele and Thug are “grateful” for the change, according to a recent statement from the lawyer following yesterday’s shake-up. In it, he explains how he feels his client is innocent and that they have been wanting is a fair and speedy trial. Now that Glanville is gone, Steele feels more confident than ever before. “We look forward to proceeding with a trial judge who will fairly and faithfully follow the law.

What are your thoughts on this statement from Young Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steele, following the recusal of Judge Ural Glanville? Do you think this swap will lead to a speedier process, why or why not? Young Thug’s Racketeering Trial Will Start Over With A New Judge After Ural Glanville Was Removed From The Case

After months of slowdowns, delays, and controversies, the racketeering trial against Young Thug and alleged gang/record label YSL will restart with a new judge, as Ural Glanville, who had overseen the trial for the past year and a half, has been removed from the case, according to documents filed with the Fulton County Superior Court. Ironically, the news comes from ThuggerDaily, a fan account on Twitter that has been following the case intently, for obvious reasons.

According to Judge Rachel Krause, who approved the motion to have Judge Glanville recused, he was not removed over the ex parte meeting with witness Kenneth “Woody” Copeland that prompted Glanville to have Thug’s lawyer Brian Steel held in criminal contempt of court. Rather, she approved Glanville’s recusal due to his prior judgments to deny previously filed motions to recuse, in which he offered his own opinions as justifications, leaving his judgments open to critique. In order to “preserve the public’s confidence in the judicial system,” she deemed it necessary to have Glanville removed from the case.

Steel avoided a sentence of several weeks worth of jail time, as the sentence was suspended until an appeal could be completed. With Glanville removed from the case, Steel will likely be let off the hook.

Lil Woody Flexes A Stack Of Cash As He Remains Unfazed During The Ongoing YSL Trial

With the “dumpster fire” that is the YSL RICO trial, it is no surprise to see that Lil Woody is acting up again. This seemingly never-ending case appears to rarely progress as it is, so seeing one of Thugger’s affiliates is just another thing keeping the final decision further out of reach. Lil Woody’s position throughout this debacle has been just one of many subplots swirling around the trial. Fans of the So Much Fun rapper have not been a fan of this guy since his decision to plead the Fifth Amendment to prevent testifying against Young Thug and from self-incrimination.

That happened in early June and because of that, he has a massive target on him. People online have been trolling and coming at him, especially after one of his affiliates was killed at the end of last month. Furthermore, Woody’s questionable decisions, such as firing his lawyer mid-testimony, appear to be a handful in a continuous series of events that could get him and maybe Thug in even more serious trouble.

The video was reshared by 2Cool2Blog and when the YSL bandmate turns to the camera, he shushes any haters out there. “I thought a broke n**** said somethin’”, he said. Fans were absolutely bamboozled by his nonchalant attitude with one user saying, “You would think he would be laying low — ni*ahz don’t learn 🫠”.

Young Thug’s Kids Threaten To Wack Gunna In Scathing New Diss Song

Young Thug and Gunna are not the friends they once were. It’s hard to imagine they ever will be. The former is still in the midst of a RICO charge, and the latter has walked. It’s widely assumed that Gunna snitched on Young Thug to avoid prison time. That said, the rapper has repeatedly stated that the “rat” claims are false. It hasn’t helped much. Kendrick Lamar cast Gunna in an unflattering light when he named him on “Euphoria.” Now, Young Thug’s kids are getting in the act. Admittedly, their reference to Gunna is a lot more aggressive.

Young Thug’s sons posted a snippet of an untitled diss song on Instagram. The duo can be seen dancing and showing off money stacks. It’s the bars, however, that definitely draw the most attention. The duo makes reference to multiple targets, but Gunna gets it the worst. “And Bentley a rat he keep leaving states,” one of the kids raps. “And Gunna get whacked if he don’t leave L.A.” It’s not clear whether Young Thug gave the thumbs up to these bars, but it shocked viewers enough to question his parenting in the comments. Some users claimed that Thugger will be disappointed by the diss. Others considered the legal ramifications. They worried the diss could be used against the rapper during the YSL trial.

Young Thug’s Kids Urged Gunna To Leave Los Angeles

Young Thug has had some controversial takes on parenting in the past. He lobbied to have full custody of his 12 kids during a Twitter rant in 2015. He felt that he had the means to provide for all of them, unlike the women he had the kids with. “I got a mansion with 12 empty bedrooms waiting for them,” he wrote. “I refuse to come on Cleveland Ave. That’s called backtracking. Just wanna no [why] should a peasant with no job, or future, or apartment/house/condo have custody of a rich mans child.”

Young Thug doubled down on this line of thinking during a 2022 Instagram Live. He went as far as to claim that people who are broke shouldn’t procreate. “We need new rules. We need a new oath,” the rapper asserted. “If you dead broke, if you a broke-a*s n**ga, you should not be able to n*t. You’re bringing poor kids into this world, f*ck n**ga. You’re making n**gas rob, and kill and steal because you’re running around with no type of career, no nothing.”
