YG Unveils New Single "Love Make," Blending His Style with an Avant Classic

Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum artist, and humanitarian YG has released his latest single, “Love Make,” produced by longtime collaborator DJ Mustard. This track significantly shifts YG’s musical style, blending soulful melodies with his signature storytelling. “Love Make” showcases YG’s ability to integrate nostalgic R&B vibes with modern hip-hop elements, delivering a refreshing and evocative sound.

“Love Make” opens with a nostalgic sample from Avant’s 2002 hit “Makin’ Good Love,” setting the tone for the song’s chorus. The track seamlessly integrates this classic R&B vibe, creating a backdrop that is both familiar and refreshing. YG delivers his verses with vivid imagery and candid lyrics, exploring the dynamics of intimacy and relationships. His ability to juxtapose heartfelt choruses with his distinct narrative style brings a unique depth to the song, making “Love Make” a standout addition to his upcoming album, the eagerly awaited third installment of his famed ‘Just Re’d Up’ series, “Just Re’d Up 3.”

The accompanying music video poetically mirrors the lyrics with visuals, blending throwback R&B aesthetics and a modern look to complement the song’s mix of nostalgic Avant samples and YG’s contemporary rap cadence. This release continues to showcase YG’s versatility as an artist through its compelling blend of old-school influences and modern storytelling.

YG, Lil Yachty, Babyface Ray, & Mustard Go “STUPID” On New Single

With the entire West Coast on 10 right now thanks to Kendrick Lamar’s massive win over Drake, everyone is eager to drop. YG is one of those guys, especially as of late. The Compton native is working toward the release of his third entry in the Just Re’d Up series, which is dropping on August 16. He broke the news on his social media platforms a couple of weeks ago, along with the artwork which pays homage to the exotic car theme. On cover three, the hitmaker is with a trio of whips which includes a Maybach, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce. Enough about expensive vehicles, though, YG has a new single called “STUPID” out now!

This is potentially the fifth promotional cut, with 2022’s “Miss My Dawgs” with Lil Wayne possibly being the lead-off record. However, we know for sure that “WEIRD”, “SHAKE”, and “KNOCKA” are making the final cut. “STUPID” is following up on the second of those three, which was a** popping track featuring Kaliii and Stunna Girl. On “STUPID”, YG is offering up a pure West Coast banger about living life unapologetically and it features production from Mustard. The latter lays down another winner of an instrumental, especially with the addition of the flutes. Lil Yachty and Babyface Ray also appear on the single, both providing some solid and cohesive performances overall.

Drake Took “A Huge L” When YG Joined Kendrick Lamar For “The Pop Out” Wack 100 Admits

With the dust pretty much settled on the word sparring between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, Wack 100 came clean on No Jumper. After originally anointing The Boy the winner at one point, the controversial artist manager admits that is no longer the case. According to HipHopDX, Wack 100 says that YG showing up to K-Dot’s The Pop Out was a “huge L”. The My Krazy Life MC was one of many special guests at the already iconic show. Tyler, The Creator, Dr. Dre, Roddy Ricch, and ScHoolboy Q, are just a few others to name. It truly was a uniting moment for the West Coast hip-hop scene and further proof for Wack 100 that Drake has lost.

In the short clip, he also feels that the Canadian megastar can never perform “Family Matters”, especially the YG verse. “The West Coast is behind Kendrick. A huge L for Drake. The worst part about that was YG”, Wack says. “[Drake] name-drops him. Drake can never perform that song (‘Family Matters’) and mention YG’s name”.

Wack 100 Says Drake Got Gut Punched By YG

The hip-hop figure continues, “But he did that to himself cause if YG didn’t approve of that you got K-Dot looking at YG. Kendrick Lamar the biggest thing in the West Coast, so why the f*** would YG wanna be in bad standings with that?”. As per usual, several fans online were confused at how this was a loss for Drake. “And Drake never said YG should side with him but that he is the guy that bang a set not Kendrick. The verse still has ground to me”, one X user writes. Drake might still feel like this is a “twenty-v-one”, but it seems pretty far-fetched that he was going to be able to win this duel.

What are your thoughts on Wack 100 saying that Drake took a massive loss when YG joined Kendrick Lamar at the Pop Out? Is this one of the more definitive beef defeats in hip-hop history? Why do you think Drake tried to get YG to side with him? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. YG to Reunite with Mustard on ‘Just Re’d Up 3′

YG to Reunite with Mustard on ‘Just Re’d Up 3'

YG officially unveiled the cover artwork and release date for his eagerly awaited third installment of the famed Just Re’d Up series. Just Re’d Up 3 is set to release on Aug. 16th, reuniting YG with his longtime collaborator DJ Mustard, who was pivotal in curating the first two ‘Just Re’d Up’ releases. Together, they have crafted the resonant sound of West Coast hip-hop.

This partnership has revitalized the legacy of classic West Coast rap, impacting entire communities and inspiring a new wave of emerging artists and longtime fans alike. The distinctive sounds from this series of projects have become synonymous with defining the contemporary West Coast scene and birthing a new generation of young artists.

As one of the West Coast’s leading hip-hop acts, YG pays homage to his previous ‘Just Re’d Up’ albums through the cover art. The artwork features YG dressed in a sleek all-black ensemble, exuding a sense of power and sophistication. The backdrop showcases three luxurious cars, symbolizing his journey and success in the music industry. Adding a unique and nostalgic touch, YG is holding a red Louis Vuitton duffle bag, a throwback reference to the cover of his first album designed to resonate with longtime fans while inviting new listeners into his artistic evolution.

YG recently electrified the Kia Forum in Inglewood with a show-stopping performance at Kendrick Lamar’s Juneteenth celebration, “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends.” His latest releases include two new singles, “Shake” and “Weird,” each accompanied by striking music videos. This announcement follows his upcoming “JUST RE’D UP” tour, which features special guests Doe Boy and DJ Vision on June 28th in Los Angeles, CA.

YG Announces Release Date For New Summer Mixtape

The West Coast is having a moment. Kendrick Lamar brought everybody together for the “Pop Out” show, and generated cultural momentum that fans haven’t seen in years. YG was one of the artists who performed at the “Pop Out,” which not only confirmed his anti-Drake stance but solidified his reputation as a Bompton legend. It’s good to be a YG fan these days, and the rapper just made it better by revealing plans for a brand new mixtape.

YG broke the news on June 24. He posted the artwork for the mixtape on social media, along with the title and release date. The tape will be called Just Re’d Up 3, and the release date is August 16. There’s a lot to unpack here. For one, the rapper is striking while the West Coast iron is hot. His cache, as well as that of longtime collaborator DJ Mustard, is an all time high. Mustard has an album on the way, and so it makes perfect sense that YG would drop something as well. As one can infer from the title, Just Re’d Up 3 will be the latest installment in the rapper’s beloved Re’d Up series.

YG Returns To The Mixtape Series He Started In 2011

The first Just Re’d Up helped establish YG as a viable artist in 2011. Just Re’d Up 2 dropped when YG was on the cusp of becoming a mainstream star in 2013. The rapper hasn’t gone back to the series in over a decade, which could suggest a back-to-basics approach. The new single “Weird” supports this theory. YG takes aim at “weird rappers” on the track, with an instrumental that harkens back to his old sound. “You bitter-a*s n**gas be sweet, like Cheerios. Weird-a*s n**ga, you n**gas lame,” he raps. “When it’s smoke, don’t ever mention my name. You gon’ have me jeapoardizin’ my fame.”

The common reading of these lyrics is that he’s dissing Drake. The 6 God mentioned YG by name on “Family Matters,” and even though the mention was positive, it appears YG didn’t appreciate it. The fact that YG showed up to support Kendrick Lamar at the “Pop Out” show made it clear that he’s team K. Dot in the rap civil war. Other singles like “Miss My Dawgs” and the Spanish-flavored “KNOCKA” are set to appear on the Just Re’d Up 3 tracklist as well.

YG Drops Booty Popping Anthem “SHAKE” Along With Kaliii & Stunna Girl

YG is keeping the singles coming, as he returns with summer-ready track, “SHAKE”. This is the supposed fourth promotional record for his forthcoming album, Just Re’d Up 3. It will be the latest entry into this mixtape series, but tradition is being broken a bit. The Compton, California rapper announced that it was going to be an album instead, so we will see how that effects the final product if at all. It will be the veteran’s first solo project since 2022’s I GOT ISSUES. However, it will be an immediate follow-up to Hit Me When U Leave The Klub: The Playlist. That was a collaboration offering with fellow Cali native Tyga and featured the smash hit “Brand New” with Lil Wayne.

Speaking of which, Weezy figures to be one of many guests on Just Re’d Up 3. So far though, he is the third feature we know of, as YG recruited Kaliii and Stunna Girl for “SHAKE”. However, YG also showed what kind of solo performances we might be in for with “KNOCKA” and “WEIRD” being those examples. On “SHAKE”, all three artists are rapping about exactly what you would expect on a song title like this. If you assumed butts and booties of sizes, then you would be correct. YG really hammers that point home on the accompanying NSFW music video, which you can find below.
