Wizkid’s ‘More Love, Less Ego’ Tour Had More Complications Than He Anticipated, Leading To Postponement

Wizkid crafted one of Uproxx’s Best Afrobeats Albums Of 2022 in More Love, Less Ego. It featured Ayra Starr, Don Toliver, Naira Marley, Shenseea, SkilliBeng and Skepta, and it was an instant hit within his sprawling fan base.

Around More Love, Less Ego‘s November release, Wizkid announced a 2023 North American tour. The More Love, Less Ego Tour was scheduled to begin on Friday, March 3, at Houston’s Toyota Center and end on April 7 at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles. But today, March 1, he confirmed a postponement.

“Due to unforeseen logistical circumstances the Wizkid – More Love, Less Ego Tour has been postponed to Fall 2023,” a statement posted to WizKid’s Twitter and Instagram Story read. “All tickets purchased for the originally scheduled shows will be honored on the new dates at the respective venues. Stay tuned for more information. Love, Wiz.”

While fans are probably understandably disappointed, there’s plenty to look forward to before the fall. Wizkid is slated to co-headline Afro Nation’s inaugural festival in Miami. Burna Boy will kick things off as the headliner on May 27, and Wizkid will headline on May 28 before also serving as a headliner at the inaugural Rolling Loud Germany festival in July.

Plus, maybe Wizkid will have more time to work on his next album, seemingly titled SeiLess, also teased back November.

Burna Boy is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Making its inaugural debut in Germany, Rolling Loud is looking to bring its signature energy to the area from July 7th to July 9th. It’s set to be headlined by Wizkid (on July 7), Kendrick Lamar (July 8), and Travis Scott (July 9). Rolling Loud Germany will be held in Messe München, in the heart of the Bavarian capital, Germany’s third-largest city.

Other notable acts slated to perform include Gucci Mane, Lil Uzi Vert, Latto, Metro Boomin, Kodak Black, Joey Badass, Coi Leray, GloRilla, and Lola Brooke.

Burna Boy And WizKid Set To Headline Inaugural Afro Nation Festival In Miami

Afrobeats music (which includes the genres highlife, juju, fuji, kwaito, amapiano, and Afropop) continues to dominate the global music market alongside Latin Urbano. In fact, some of today’s biggest acts in the United States hail from outside of its boundaries. While Chance The Rapper and Vic Mensa came together to bring the crown and music joy of the states, rap music, to West Africa, promoters are returning the favor.

The organizers behind the beloved festival, Afro Nation, are bringing the cultural event to the United States on May 27 and 28 in Miami, Florida. The two-day event will be held at loanDepot park. Headlining the inaugural show are none other than Afrobeat powerhouses Burna Boy and Wizkid, amongst many other artists representing the diaspora. Although this is the first time the festival has touched American soil, this isn’t the first time the Nigerian artists have shared a stage.

Burna Boy will headline on day one of the festival (May 27). In contrast, Wizkid will headline day two (May 28).

Other notable acts on the lineup include dancehall legend Beenie Man, Rema and Asake, CKay, BNXN, and Black Sherif, Franglish.

General tickets go on sale on Friday, January 13, at 1 pm ET. Click here to purchase.
