Did you expect Big Sean to be sampling an USHER song at any point? To be honest, we didn’t. But he did just that on his new album, Better Me Than You. It occurs on the album’s attempt at a catchy hit with “Who You Are (Superstar)”, which is track five. It’s not such an obvious sample, but when you play the songs back-to-back, you can hear it a little more clearly. That USHER track we are referring to is “Superstar” off of one of the singer’s most successful records to date, Confessions.
However, instead of just getting clearance through other means, Sean decided to go right to the source to get his blessing. The Neighborhood Watch reshared the clip of USHER and the Detroit MC vibing to the demo from the latter’s IG account that centers around his website. With there currently being a lot of bitterness between artists in the industry, it’s nice to see two respective stars giving each other love like this. USHER was all in for Sean’s sample flip, as you can see in the video below.
Sean gave some extra context to the post, revealing that “Who You Are (Superstar)” had been in the works for a little bit. “This was like a year ago when the song was just the demo. I had to make sure it was appropriate to sample such a classic ”, he said. Hopefully with this now out there, maybe we could get a collaboration between them?
What are your thoughts on USHER giving Big Sean approval to sample his work for the latter’s Better Me Than You? Were you aware that Sean utilized a song from the R&B legend? Is it crazy to think that USHER is that far into his career where others are sampling his music? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Big Sean and USHER. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.
Yesterday (September 6), during Usher’s first night in Brooklyn he brought a little piece of his seemingly second favorite hometown staple with him — strip clubs. While at the Barclays Center, Usher transferred the stage into his own mobile exotic peep show. Although this isn’t new by any means for Usher, just see his Las Vegas residency show, but this time he was along in his tantalizing quest.
Three leading ladies in their own right, Taraji P. Henson, Victoria Monét, and Yung Miami joined Usher for the sensual showcase. As the performer showed off her gymnast moves each lady threw money to show their mesmerized support (viewable here).
At one point, Victoria Monét even ever so slightly participated before allowing to professional to put it down (or up rather). Usher has a lot of tricks in his books but none quite like his featured supporting act.
Prior to the rated R demonstration, Usher took a moment to acknowledge his “SOS (Sex On Sight)” collaborator, Victoria’s breakout year. “We love you baby girl,” he said before paying her hit song “On My Mama” over the venue’s speakers (viewable here)
Usher’s Past Present Future Tour won’t officially wrap in the US until mid-November, so there’s no telling what else he has planned.
Victoria Monet and USHER are really laying it down in a hot and heavy manner on their new single, “SOS (Sex on Sight)”. This track belongs to the former of the two artists and it’s one she’s been teasing for a little over a week. On the 20th, the Atlanta Georgia native would go on to announce the release date and title of the track on her Instagram in a brief video in which she also teased the beginning of the audio, too. Then, on August 22, Monet was creating quite a lot of buzz within her fan base, hinting that a feature would be on “SOS”.
““SOS” = SEX ON SIGHT!!! Who do you think the feature is? tag them”. Finally, a day later, USHER would go to be revealed as the guest artist, which marks their first collaboration together now. This song sees one of the current R&B stars work alongside a true legend of the genre in a cool mixture of eras. “SOS” shows that in the production department, especially, thanks to the slow-mo/sensual vibe. It feels like something from the early 2000s, but it has more modern touches, too. That can be attributed to the groovy and funky bass lines, shimmering synth passages, and celebratory horn sections. Monet has been in this sonic fixation on her past two projects, but it’s been working, and it is here on “SOS (Sex on Sight)”.
I need that SOS, sex on sight, baby, it’s urgent Let me f*** up all your plans, come put this work in ‘Cause I think it’s about time we take this all the way (And I) Wonder which one of my lips gon’ be your first kiss Doesn’t matter ’cause they both gon’ fit you perfect And I’m ready, so don’t make me have to do this on my own
Victoria Monét joins Eddie Francis on Apple Music 1 to talk about her experience writing “SOS (Sex on Sight)” featuring Usher. They dive into the process of how this dream collaboration came to be and Victoria teases that more music from Usher is coming very soon.
The two also discuss Victoria’s very successful year, which included GRAMMYs, record-breaking success from her single “On My Mama,” and more. Victoria teases a deluxe version of JAGUAR II and a new era on the way.
When Francis asked Monet about the Usher collaboration, she mentioned another unreleased song that the two have together.
“It’s coming in the future. I don’t know when, but there’s another song,” Monet added. “So we were working together on that song. So he came by the studio to work more on that. And when he got there, I was working on SOS, but I just had the hook only. So he was like, “Let me hear what you’re working on.” I was like, “Okay.” Nervous. So I play it, and then after the hook goes off, he starts mumbling a melody. I was like, “Hmm.” And me and DJ Camper, the producer, looked at each other and we were like, “Do you want to just go in? Maybe just try some stuff?” So he goes in the booth and starts this rap part, and then he comes out and we write a few lyrics to that. And then he has to go, he’s like jet-setting somewhere else. And then he finishes his parts in Atlanta. We decide like… We were like, at one point, “Do we do both of these songs or do we have to choose one? What’s the protocol?” But it just felt so special and so organic so that we just were like, “Let’s rock with both.” Camper got his horn player on it. We just did final touches and everything, and here it is. So I’m excited.”
After working with some of the biggest names in the music industry and thriving in the underground R&B scene, Victoria Monét had her mainstream breakthrough with her 2023 album, Jaguar II. The “On My Mama” singer won a bunch of Grammys (including Best New Artist), stole the show with a Michael Jackson homage at the 2024 BET Awards, and covered Usher at Coachella. Today, Monét released a new song with the R&B legend, “SOS (Sex On Sight),” which is just as seductive as you’d hope with that title.
You can listen above.
“’SOS (Sex On Sight)’ is about desire,” Monet said in a statement. “It’s about the urgency you feel when you need some love, physical touch and quality attention! Sometimes that desire can feel as urgent as being rescued from a natural disaster, or in this case rescued from your own sensual urges. Just like a storm, SOS summons and forewarns a lover of the rainfall that is to come and welcomes the beautiful relief from that desire. It feels romantic, playful, sultry and direct. Based in fantasy and the warmest tones of R&B. It feels timeless and we hope you enjoy the escape!”
“SOS (Sex On Sight)” is the first single from the deluxe edition of Jaguar II, which doesn’t have a release date yet.
Three-time GRAMMY® Award-winner Victoria Monét and global entertainment icon Usher have officially joined forces to release their highly anticipated single “SOS (Sex On Sight).” The track, out now via Lovett Music/RCA Records, marks the first collaboration between these two R&B powerhouses, following a series of public moments throughout the year.
Their partnership has been teased in the lead-up to this release, with Monét gifting Usher a Super Bowl leather jacket at his Las Vegas Residency, both artists leading wins at the NAACP Image Awards, and Monét’s viral performance with Teyana Taylor at the 2024 BET Awards, where they paid homage to Usher’s iconic 2005 “Bad Girl” performance during his Lifetime Achievement Tribute.

Produced by Grammy-winning producer Camper, “SOS” is a sultry R&B track that showcases Monét’s songwriting prowess, featuring her signature wordplay and double entendres. Usher’s sensual verse complements Monét’s vocals, creating a flirtatious back-and-forth that leaves listeners eagerly anticipating what’s next. “SOS” is the first release from Monét’s forthcoming JAGUAR II Deluxe album, following her Grammy Award-winning JAGUAR II.
Usher was born to perform. Few artists have managed to rival the electricity of prime Michael Jackson. Usher, however, has managed to do so for multiple decades. Fans were absolutely thrilled to discover that Usher was planning a “Past, Present, Future” tour that would incorporate his iconic hits. A neck injury seemed as though it would derail the singer’s tour plans, but he bounced back. Usher made sure the fans got what they wanted, and kicked off his tour this week in Washington, D.C.
TMZ confirmed that Usher put on stellar shows on both Tuesday and Wednesday at the Capital One Arena. The singer was electric as ever in terms of performance. He also found time to bring out several guest stars including Raheem DeVaughn and Wale. Usher has worked with both artists in the past, and their D.C. roots made them a natural inclusion. There was some initial concern that Usher would have to postpone his tour for several weeks due to the severity of his injury. He broke the news regarding the injury on Instagram on August 15. “Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck,” he wrote. “While rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest Usher show of all time.”
The singer also informed fans that he would have to miss the first week of shows he had scheduled. Shows that were set to be in the singer’s hometown of Atlanta. He was disappointed, but maintained that his doctors told him to rest up. “The injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week,” he continued. “The good news is that the doctors are saying that with appropriate rest and treatment, I should be ready to commence the tour on August 20.” To the singer’s credit, he did just that. He made good on his word, and gave the D.C. crowd two stellar shows.
Fans who missed the first week of shows needn’t worry. TMZ reports that Usher will make up the ATL leg of his tour in December. The singer noted his Instagram post by reminding fans that he takes performing very seriously. He will whatever necessary to provide attendees with the best possible show. “I love my fans,” he wrote. “Thank you for understanding that this injury must be healed so that I can give you the 100% excellence that you expect from an Usher show and that I will be on stage in your city very soon.” Usher’s “Past, Present, Future” tour is slated run through 2025.
Eight-time Grammy Award-winning icon Usher launched his highly anticipated ‘Past Present Future’ global tour, his first in eight years, with two sold-out performances at Washington, DC’s Capital One Arena. The R&B legend delivered a two-hour set packed with his timeless hits and signature dance moves, reaffirming his status as a music legend over his 30-year career.
Usher thrilled fans with chart-topping classics like “U Don’t Have To Call,” “Confessions,” and “Lovers and Friends. ” He also debuted tracks from his upcoming ninth album, Coming Home. He closed the night with a show-stopping performance of “Yeah!” that had the audience on their feet.
Night Two featured special appearances by DC’s Wale, Raheem DeVaughn, and E.U.’s Sugar Bear. Wale energized the crowd with hits like “The Matrimony” and “No Hands,” while Raheem DeVaughn added a soulful touch with “You.” Sugar Bear’s performance of “Da’ Butt” brought the house down.
The tour continues with two nights in Baltimore before hitting major cities like Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Usher will also take the international stage, performing eight shows at London’s O2 Arena in March, with additional stops in Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin. The tour will conclude with two final nights at The O2 Arena in London on May 7.

R&B superstar Usher has announced the postponement of several shows on his highly anticipated “Past Present Future” tour after suffering a neck injury during rehearsals. The artist, who had already canceled his opening night concert on August 14, took to Instagram on Thursday to share that he’s rescheduling his first three Atlanta dates to allow more time for recovery.
“Earlier this week, I suffered an injury to my neck while rehearsing to provide my fans with the greatest Usher show of all time,” Usher wrote in his post. “My hope was that with physical therapy and medical treatment, I would be able to overcome the injury and be ready for opening night. Unfortunately, the injury has not healed yet, and my doctors have instructed me not to perform any shows this week.”
Despite the setback, Usher reassured fans that with appropriate rest and treatment, he should be ready to resume the tour in Washington, D.C., on August 20. “I love my fans and thank you for understanding that this injury must be healed so that I can give you the 100% excellence that you expect from an Usher show,” he added. “I will be on stage in your city very soon.”
The rescheduled Atlanta shows will now take place at State Farm Arena on December 9, 10, and 12, instead of the originally planned August 14, 16, and 17. Usher initially postponed his first show, citing the need to “give my body a second to rest and heal,” though he did not disclose the nature of his injury at the time.
Reflecting on his decision to delay the tour, Usher expressed his commitment to delivering an unforgettable experience for his fans. “For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat, and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans,” he wrote in a since-deleted post. “You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present, and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date, but you’ll also be getting 100% of me.”
The postponement marks a rare pause in what has been a whirlwind few years for Usher. The singer headlined the 2024 Super Bowl earlier this year and wrapped up his 100-show “My Way” Las Vegas residency in December 2023. The “Past Present Future” tour, which includes stops across North America and Europe, is set to run through May 2025.
While fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Usher perform in Atlanta, the artist’s commitment to delivering a top-notch show remains a priority. As Usher continues to recover, fans can rest assured that when he does take the stage, it will be with the same energy, passion, and excellence that has defined his career for over three decades.
