Last week, it was reported that 24-year-old Quando Rondo had been arrested on drug charges. The news quickly sent shockwaves through the hip-hop community. After a few days without updates, more information was released on Tuesday (June 20). We now know that 18 others have been indicted along with the rapper. Aside from the drug trouble, those involved are also facing gang charges. Quando specifically is accused of having a managerial position within his local chapter of the Rollin’ 60s.
According to WJCL, the Chatham County District Attorney’s Office has put together a 49-count indictment against the Georgia native and his co-defendants. They’ve been accused of dozens of crimes, such as using a cell phone to conduct illegal activity and gang affiliation. Quando’s personal charges into two counts of conspiracy to violate Georgia’s controlled substances act, one count of participating in criminal street gang activity, and use of communication facility in the commission of a felony involving controlled substances.
As XXL reports, the indictment notably mentions a June 4 trip to Macon, Georgia. At the time, the “ABG” artist was allegedly travelling to pay a marijuana supplier. On the bright side, Quando’s arrest wasn’t a total surprise. He turned himself into authorities on June 16, sending out a telling tweet to his loved ones early that morning. “I Love You Paris, Italy, Kiyah, My Mama, Tess, My Grandma, Freida,” he wrote. “I’ll Be Bacc!”
At this time, the accused gang member has yet to release an official statement regarding his arrest. Amid the mass hip-hop crime wave that’s unfolding, it’s been increasingly difficult to keep up with the news coming from various cases. The YSL and YFN RICO trials are still unfolding, and YNW Melly is in court this month as his proceedings move forward in Broward County. Interestingly enough, Quando Rondo was venting about wishing he had kept more of his personal life private just weeks before his recent arrest. It’s been over half a year since Tory Lanez was found guilty in his shooting trial against Megan Thee Stallion. Still, the “Say It” singer remains without a sentence. His court date was recently rescheduled to August 7, and prosecutors are seeking 13 years for him. However, Lanez’s defense attorneys are working overtime with attempts to disqualify the preceding judge on the case. Unfortunately for him, their attempts appear to only be failing. On Sunday (June 18), the father of one’s Instagram feed lit up with a message for his fans. Along with that came an exciting announcement about new music arriving at midnight.
“To my Family, my Friends, and to the Umbellas worldwide, I want y’all to know I haven’t lost my faith in God and that I’m in high spirits,” Lanez wrote in a screenshot from his Notes app. “I’m praying for the best and remain confident that God will bring me through this. I have spent the last seven months rehabilitating my mind, my body, and my soul,” the R&B star went on to share. “Though I came to jail a good person, I will leave as a great person. I’ve turned this jail cell into my work office.”
Lanez then promised his plans to “continue the legacy of the Umbrella from here or anywhere else.” His goal at this time is to shine his positive light brightly to aid anyone who may be in need. “With that being said, all things One Umbrella will now be promoted on my main page through my team at my command. New music, merch, and updates start dropping tonight.” To conclude his post, the embattled star shared that his Yoko Gold collaboration, called “Hurts Me” will land on DSPs on Monday (June 19).
While Tory Lanez continues to push through his struggles on the inside, in the outside world, Kylie Jenner is facing backlash for bumping one of his unreleased tracks in a recent TikTok. As you may recall, the Canadian artist was at the reality star’s house with Megan Thee Stallion on the night when the Houston hottie was shot. Read the criticism social media users have for Jenner at the link below. Make sure to check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
In an incredibly stacked week for music, maybe it seemed hard to wade through releases to find the best new R&B. However, big drops from a lot of rising and established stars made that hardly the case, but we rounded them all up for this week’s R&B Season playlist in the event that you missed anything. Moreover, we had a lot of albums and EPs in particular to talk about and highlight, plus a few singles that have us excited for these artists’ next full-length moves. First up is Victoria Monét’s “On My Mama,” a confident and soulful cut to add to her great repertoire. The gorgeous horns, wavy guitar, funky bass, and the singer’s own melodic and harmonic excellence make this a great journey of a track to sink into that undergoes a lot of progression.
In addition, we also had another single this week, but one that leans more into classic R&B sounds and melodies. ASTN and Alex Vaughn came through for a sultry duet titled “How Soon,” accentuated with soft guitar plucks and a slow snap beat that eventually works in some trap-like hi-hats. Furthermore, the two artists show a lot of chemistry towards the latter half of the song. They ask us how soon is too soon to move on from a past love, and it’s a more comforting track than that subject matter suggests.
Next up are a few great projects that dropped over the week. For example, there’s Ambré’s who’sloving you? EP, a collection of five pretty varied tracks that go beyond what’s considered traditional R&B. Specifically, we had to highlight the track “MUSE FREESTYLE” for its atmosphere, excellent vocal performance, and creatively put-together beat. In fact, Ambré also appeared on PHABO’s latest album Don’t Get Too Cozy, which came out this week as well. We recommend the cut “Luv Songs (Unruly)” for its sensual production and versatile leading vocals from the San Diego-born artist.
Finally, there’s Kiana Ledé’s album Grudges, which is chock-full of standouts and inviting tunes. While there are many to pick from, we think “Gone” with Bryson Tiller is a funky and immediate addition to any summer vibes playlist. Also, if you want to hear the Arizona native tackle a more traditional instrumental, “LMK” is right there waiting for you. Let us know what was you favorite R&B release of the week in the comments below. As always, come back to HNHH for more updates on the latest great music each week.
This week had a lot of big music releases to go through, so it’s a good thing that we compiled the best of the best on our latest Fire Emoji playlist update. This Saturday (June 17), we brought you a whole album’s worth of material to dive into. Speaking of albums, there are too many highlights on Gunna’s latest, a Gift & a Curse to name, but we thought “rodeo dr,” “ca$h $hit,” and the music video-assisted “back to the moon” were particularly solid. Another great album to drop this week was Killer Mike’s powerful MICHAEL, and the track “SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS” featuring Eryn Allen Kane, Future, and none other than André 3000 is a potent slice of its greatness. What’s more is that there might be more Mike and Dre in the future, but only time will tell.
Moving on, there’s the measured “Attention” from Doja Cat, ushering in her new album era and what fans believe is a different and exciting approach. Not only does it have critical acclaim, but it became the second-highest Spotify global streaming debut for a single by a female rapper. Next is Gucci Mane’s “Bluffin’” with Lil Baby, quite the ATL team-up where you see the city’s effortless talent run from generation to generation. Baby also appeared on “Shoe Box,” a taster from Kap G’s latest full-length, HorHey.
Of course, we have to mention the new Trippie Redd single with his girlfriend Skye Morales, “Took My Breath Away.” Compared to his previous rage-centric album, it seems like A Love Letter To You 5 will return to his moodier and more genre-fusing tendencies- but with some solid rapping, to boot. Coi Leray’s dropping an album soon, too, and “Run It Up” is one of its last teaser cuts before release. In addition, the prolific NBA YoungBoy appears on RJAE’s YOU’RE THE PROBLEM on the song “Too Gone.”
Meanwhile, DDG tapped BIA and NLE Choppa for a buttery remix of the track “I’m Geekin.” Last but certainly not least, Mike Dimes and Denzel Curry are absolutely monstrous on “ARSENAL,” a standout from the former’s new project TEXAS BOY. What was your favorite song or album to drop this week? Let us know in the comments and, as always, come back to HNHH for more great new music.

Those who thought Chrisean Rock was faking her pregnancy likely feel pretty foolish by now. As she carries herself through the final months before her baby arrives, the 23-year-old hasn’t been having an easy time. This is largely thanks to drama with her baby daddy, Blueface, and rude comments from internet trolls. We’ve seen considerable growth from Rock so far this year, but many of her fans were disappointed that the reality starlet went clubbing with Blueface following his robbery arrest earlier this month.
By now, true supporters of the Baltimore native have accepted that she and the “Thotiana” rapper are stuck like glue. While Chrisean previously shared her plans to deliver her child alone with the support of God, a recent Instagram Live session found her reflecting on the idea of giving birth at home, as we’ve seen other stars like Summer Walker do in the past. “I watched how hospitals do it with babies, and they rough! You not about to f**k up my kid’s neck like that,” the soon-to-be mother of one told followers. “I saw how they do it at home and it looks very gentle, like more your speed.”
Elsewhere in the stream, Rock confirmed that she got results back from the DNA test she conducted to confirm the paternity of her little one. The embattled entertainer has never doubted that it was Blueface, but the California-born rapper has regularly denied that the child is his on social media. “I got the DNA test, it’s his child,” she shared. “It’s funny because when we did the lie detector test, he wanted to record shit so bad.”
Apparently the big news made the 26-year-old promise his future co-parent that he’ll be nicer to her now, but she’s “over it.” Are you surprised that a paternity test has allegedly named Blueface as the father of Chrisean Rock’s firstborn? Let us know in the comments, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.
