ASAP Rocky & LL COOL J Skate On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Autumn is upon us, and with it falls a slew of hot new hip-hop releases to go through. For that, we’ve got our latest Fire Emoji playlist update ready, rounding up the best of the best rap of the week. Starting us off is a new album that perhaps you might not want to call a comeback, but it certainly feels like that more than ever before. LL COOL J finally graced fans with his new LP THE FORCE, his first studio project in 11 years. It’s got a lot of Q-Tip-produced highlights, but we’d recommend you start by checking out “Murdergram Deux” featuring Eminem.

Also on Fire Emoji is the brand-new single from ASAP Rocky and J. Cole, The Alchemist-produced “Ruby Rosary.” This track builds around cold, somber, eerie, but nonetheless dreamy piano samples, intoxicating and entrancing flows and vocal effects, and a lot of despondent but determined affirmations from both MCs. It’s an amazing teaser ahead of Pretty Flacko’s Don’t Be Dumb later this year. It’s also got some supposed Drake disses here and there, but you already knew that and probably don’t care at this point.

Elsewhere, we also wanted to shout out this new star-studded collaborative team featured on the track “Can’t Hold Me Down.” Pharrell, Lil Wayne, Lil Yachty, and Kyle Richh joined forces for the multi-media music division Doodles, which released this single as part of an EP for an animated special. Another welcome collaboration on Fire Emoji is the multi-lingual UK garage-inspired cut “Moi” from Central Cee and RAYE. Even though these combinations with drill might not sound fitting on paper, the atmosphere, tender melodies, and modular instrumentation here ends up fitting it all together successfully.

Meanwhile, Toosii and Gunna work together like bread and butter on “Champs Élysées,” a woozy and vibe-heavy trap cut. Finally, we’d be remiss not to mention Boldy James and Antt Beatz’s new single “Super Mario.” It puts the Detroit MC over his city’s traditional bounce – a rare combination these days for the Concreature. Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoj pick was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments below. Check the playlist out above and, as always, come back to HNHH for the latest great rap drops around the clock.

Playboi Carti Gives Hopeful Progress Update On His Eagerly Awaited “I Am Music” Album

Saying that Playboi Carti fans are ready for I Am Music would be a massive understatement. The influential Atlanta, Georgia MC has been teasing his third studio album for quite a while, with a lot of it happening at the beginning of this year. The 28-year-old put out several tracks on his YouTube and Instagram accounts such as “EVILJ0RDAN”, “BACKR00MS”, “Ketamine”, “2024”, and more. Despite a lack of new singles or any news for that matter, Carti has been keeping busy in the features department.

He’s worked with the likes of Metro Boomin and Future, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, Camila Cabello, Drake and more. A few of his contributions have led to some high charting success, so at least he’s active and staying relevant. However, we would be lying if we said that this was enough. Thankfully, we are finally getting some more news surrounding I Am Music and it’s good. Billboard released a revealing feature on the mysterious rager that was conducted right before Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash in June.

Playboi Carti Is A “Meticulous” Creator

A post shared by billboard (@billboard)

In the article, he reveals that the album is still in the works and is still slated for a 2024 release. Throughout the piece, Carti is described as “meticulous”. The “Magnolia” hitmaker was frustrated with the creative losses during the recording of Whole Lotta Red thanks to leaks. It’s maybe why he’s taking an even more precautious approach to I Am Music, making sure that the art remains hidden, for the most part. Carti’s manager and Opium CEO, Erin Larsen, perhaps described it best when it comes to how he views his craft. “He’s giving people his absolute best, things that he wants to put his stamp on. It delays the process. You don’t want to see the Mona Lisa in an art museum before it is a finished piece of work”. While this might anger some, we are even more excited to hear what’s in store for us.

What are your thoughts on Playboi Carti saying that I Am Music is going to be releasing this year? Do you think everything will go according to plan, why or why not? Does this feature with Billboard reveal a lot to you about who Carti is? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Playboi Carti. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Lil Troy Breaks His Silence After Suffering A Reported Heart Attack

Over the last couple weeks, hip-hop has had to mourn way too many rappers in such a short time frame. During Labor Day weekend, the genre was seemingly close to tragically losing another. In a harrowing update yesterday from Geto Boys band mate Willie D, he revealed to the public that Houston, Texas native Lil Troy was “fighting for his life”. A heart attack was the culprit in this case, and it had him bedridden since last Tuesday. Thankfully, though, Lil Troy is recovering and doing better, and it would appear that he’s out of the hospital.

According to AllHipHop, a text conversation between the “Wanna Be A Baller” creator and NYC promoter Van Silk was shared with them. In the screenshot, messages from Lil Troy that he’s ready to make necessary life changes and become an indestructible superhero of sorts. “I’m good feeling good and ready to get back to being Superman. Feeling bless[ed]. Getting to start a new life of [eating] right and going to the doctor and taking my meds”.

Additionally, the media outlet spoke with Lil Troy directly, sharing similar words of encouragement. “I’m good now. Feeling blessed. I’m going to start speaking about taking our meds and going to the doctor and heart attacks”. It seems as if Troy is taking up after the words that Willie D shared last night about doing better for us. Honestly, spreading this knowledge could not come at a more opportune time and we hope that he does share what he’s gone through. We are wishing Lil Troy a speedy recovery and path to a better and more stress-free life, and we encourage you to do the same.

What are your thoughts on Lil Troy’s messages after surviving a reported heart attack? Do you think him speaking out will inspire others to take care of themselves? What is your favorite Lil Troy song and project? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Lil Troy. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

I took @jonathanmannion to the depths of Compton, California & showed him the heart of what I survived. He captured the essence of my city, my hood & brought to the world my vision. Tommy Richman & Kehlani Shine Bright On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

Fall is officially upon us, and we have some fresh and exciting new music releases to round up on our latest R&B Season update. First up is the new project from Kehlani, following up her previous album this year with the anticipatory and vibe-filled While We Wait 2. If you’re looking for a particular highlight from this new record to get you started, we’d recommend “When He’s Not There” featuring Lucky Daye. Elsewhere, we also wanted to highlight the newest single from one of this year’s breakout stars: Tommy Richman’s “THOUGHT YOU WERE THE ONE.” It’s a more melancholy and dramatic take on the formula that shot him up into superstardom on “MILLION DOLLAR BABY.”

Also on our R&B Season playlist update is the new single from Victoria Monét and Usher, “SOS (Sex On Sight).” If you’re in the need of more ’90s or 2000s-style R&B jams, then this classic and soulful take is exactly up your alley. However, there are plenty of other artists that could be characterized with this genre that aren’t only fusing it with many other sounds, but aren’t always making R&B in any way. One example is Fousheé, whose excellent new single “100 bux” is more of a guitar-led alternative jam.

Back to more traditional R&B vibes, though: Muni Long came through with her new album Revenge, and there are many songs that live up to this title. For example, “The Baddest” speaks on a tough relationship and on toxicity with a drama-filled string and snap beat, plus some ethereal vocal runs. Another mention on this playlist update is Mustafa’s new single ahead of his next album. The track is titled “Old Life,” and there’s a very palpable sense of nostalgia and tenderness that is captivating to witness.

Finally, we’d be remiss not to mention Freddie Gibbs’ remix of Leon Thomas’ “MUTT.” If you were already a fan of this bop, then the charismatic and fast-flowing Freddie verse just makes it all the more funky and vibrant. Let us know what your favorite R&B Season inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Check the playlist out above and, as always, stick around on HNHH for the latest amazing music releases around the clock.

Big Sean & Doechii Plant Their Flags On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update

August comes to a close, and we have a fresh set of the best of the best hip-hop to drop this week on our new Fire Emoji playlist update. Moreover, leading the way is the highly anticipated album from Big Sean, Better Me Than You. As far as highlights from it, we recommend the wavy “It Is What It Is” with Gunna and the Bryson Tiller and Kodak Black collab “This N That” for you to start with. Elsewhere, Doechii also made a big splash with her excellent new mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal, which contains standout cuts like the bouncy “SLIDE.”

Furthermore, another Fire Emoji standout this week is another long-awaited project: the latest from Destroy Lonely, LOVE LASTS FOREVER. On it, he’s able to show off his dynamic delivery on cuts like “CADILLAC” and develop his collaborative chemistry with artists like Lil Uzi Vert on the slow-burning “LOVE HURTS.” In addition, we also got a new single from A$AP Rocky leading up to his upcoming studio album return, Don’t Be Dumb. “Tailor Swif” is a pretty standard but effective display of new Rocky: minimal melodic elements, crispy and rattling percussion, and some catchy albeit simple flows.

Fire Emoji also showcases the new album from Strick, ALL TIME HIGH, and hopefully this sheds more light on this North Carolina artist’s versatility. On “CR@SH” with Travis Scott for example, they complement each other’s styles effortlessly while coming through with earworm vocal riffs and some atmospheric production. On a similarly drenched-out and woozy tip, we have the new single from BNYX and Yeat (plus Superheaven), “GO AGAIN.” They work as well together as they ever have, and some flanged electric guitar riffs add a lot of character and melancholy to this otherwise tough-as-nails and drowsy banger.

We’d be remiss not to mention Chance The Rapper’s latest killer single “3333” and its combination of pianos, trumpets, and subtle drums. Finally, Cordae and Anderson .Paak added to their collection of amazing J. Cole-produced collabs with “Summer Drop.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji release was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Jessie Reyez & Lil Wayne Enjoy The Ride On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

Our latest R&B Season playlist update might be a bit scant this week, but fortunately, the new tracks from the genre’s orbit this week are top tier. First up is an unexpected but welcome collaboration from Jessie Reyez and Lil Wayne, the gentle and indie-inspired “RIDIN.” Of course, this guitar-led and percussively steady instrumental contrasts quite markedly with Tunechi’s more lewd and playful lyrical content. Nevertheless, the passion and lust definitely comes through here, especially thanks to the Toronto singer’s tender vocals that charismatically reach higher registers as the track evolves. If you’re looking for a summery jam to close out the season soon, play this with the windows down.

Also on our R&B Season update is the funky and confidently boastful new single from Chxrry22, “Poppin Out (Mistakes).” The XO signee sounds self-assured on this cut, excitedly anticipating a fun night out after a long time away from her city. Moreover, the drums here are reminiscent of some 2000s Timbo or Neptunes worship, matched with rubbery bass, gorgeous vocal harmonies, and some very light and atmospheric background synth pads. While there isn’t much of a melodic anchor in the instrumentation, the Toronto star definitely makes up for it through her own runs and refrains.

HNHH R&B Season Playlist: Stream

Elsewhere, we have another genre-fusing R&B record with Eric Bellinger and Jastin Martin’s new collab, “Chase.” This time around, it mixes some familiar ’90s soul vocal melodies with the infectious New York drill bounce that has dominated the East Coast as of late. As expected, there’s not a standout synth or melodic riff to the beat itself, but the two vocalists take center stage. Their light and airy voices mix together really well for a chemistry-filled team-up, and we’re sure that if you’re a fan of these styles, this will be right up your alley.

Let us know what your favorite R&B Season cut was this week, as well as what else we missed, down there in the comments section. Also – as always – make sure to check back in with HNHH for the latest wavy music releases around the clock, be they from the rhythm and blues world or from your favorite hip-hop stars. You can find the latter group’s highlights this week by checking out our Fire Emoji playlist with the “Read More” link below.

Travis Scott Revives His Classics On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update

Our Fire Emoji playlist is back with the best of the best hip-hop drops of the week, although it’s a bit of an odd and unique one. Rather than having a fresh release be the headliner, the hip-hop world instead rallied around celebrating a ten-year-old fan-favorite. Travis Scott finally released DAYS BEFORE RODEO on streaming services, letting DSP users enjoy “Skyfall,” “Drugs You Should Try It,” and other classic tracks of his in their full-ish glory. Some tracks have been altered due to sample clearances or other considerations, but for the most part, it’s the DBR you know and love.

Another reason as to why our new Fire Emoji update is a bit weirder this time around is because one of the other highlights of the week isn’t on Spotify anymore. Benny The Butcher dropped the Buffalo Butch. Vol. 1 EP with some skilled MCs, including the long-awaited Drake collab “Buffalo Freestyle.” But for unknown reasons at press time (most likely a UMG copyright strike), you won’t be able to listen to it on the platform, although you can still find it on sites like Twitter.

Elsewhere, Cash Cobain also came through with his new album PLAY CASH COBAIN, a woozy, entrancing, and admittedly horny listen. Jokes aside, there are still a lot of engaging and enveloping highlights on this LP that are worth your attention, including “act like” and “slizzyhunchodon” with Don Toliver and Quavo. In addition, Fire Emoji highlights the excellent “BOOM BAP” from Doechii, and its soulful sampling and fiery delivery is captivating. On more of a contemporary slant, Tee Grizzley and 42 Dugg rep their city with a lot of energy on their new collaboration, “Detroit.”

Also, we wanted to shout out Central Cee’s two-pack this week, including “Bolide Noir” with JRK 19 and “Billion Streams Freestyle.” Finally, Babyface Ray and Bossman Dlow rip through an atmospheric and eerie instrumental on “Count Money.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below.
