Kevin Spacey Briefly Hospitalized Over Suspected Heart Attack

Actor Kevin Spacey has revealed that he was briefly hospitalized earlier this week due to a suspected heart attack. Spacey, speaking at a film festival in Uzbekistan, revealed that he nearly missed the festival’s closing night after suffering the symptoms of a heart attack. Out of an abundance of caution, Spacey had his team take him to a nearby hospital. However, the 64-year-old was quickly given the all-clear and released.

He incorporated the experience into his speech at the end of the festival, telling the audience that it made him appreciate life more. He congratulated the festival contributors and praised the event for giving opportunities to the next generation of filmmakers. The festival was being held in the Uzbek capital of Tashkent.

Spacey Says Best Roles “Yet To Come”

Spacey has remained mostly out of the mainstream limelight in recent months. Back in July, a UK court found him not guilty on multiple charges of sexual assault. “I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today. But I would like to say that I am enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts carefully before they reached the decision,” Spacey told reporters outside the court in July. It is the second time that Spacey has come out the victor in a sexual assault case. He was previously found not liable on sexual assault charges back in October 2022.

Furthermore, Spacey told the media that his best roles were “yet to come”. He is set to appear in two independent films this year. Control features Spacey as a hacker who commandeers a government employee’s smart car in quest for revenge. Meanwhile, Peter Five Eight sees Spacey play a hitman assigned with the murder of a glamorous real estate agent in a small mountain town. Both are expected to be released this year but do not have official release dates yet.

YNW Melly’s Murder Trial Stress Gave His Mother A Heart Attack, She Claims

YNW Melly’s ongoing double-murder trial has brought forth plenty of interesting revelations so far. It seems the proceedings have been particularly difficult on the mothers involved, especially those of the two victims – YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. Of course, there’s also the mother of Melly’s ex-girlfriend. She was brought to the stand as a witness for the prosecution last week. During her testimony, the woman made it abundantly clear that she and her daughter have felt as though they’re being threatened by law enforcement.

While that news was upsetting to hear, it dulls in comparison to claims from Melly’s own mother. She apparently suffered a heart attack due to her stress. Jamie King, who’s been in the courtroom regularly, used an Instagram Story to express her feelings earlier this week. “I’m deleting this app. I can’t be crying and making myself upset because of a lying clout chaser who won’t even show his face in court but care so much,” she vented over a black screen. “I had one heart attack already because of stress,” King added.

“I refuse to let this kill me, I try to be peaceful and respectful to all of you. I pray for everyone because I know it’s the right thing to do ❤️‍🩹,” King’s rant ended. Today (June 20), Melly is back in Broward County court as his trial resumes. As previously reported, he’s the first person facing new state laws that require a minimum 8-4 vote by a jury to convict with the death penalty.

In terms of other recent updates on the YNW Melly double-murder trial, the 23-year-old was officially denied a mistrial following the defense’s motion on his behalf. Regardless of this loss, attorney Bradford Cohen, who previously represented Melly, has shared his opinion that the prosecution will likely have a hard time proving that the accused killer is guilty for a number of reasons. Read all about the case’s latest information at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop news.

American Idol Contestant CJ Harris Dead At 31

CJ Harris, a former American Idol semifinalist, was pronounced dead this weekend at 31 after he was rushed to the hospital.

According to TMZ, CJ Harris reportedly suffered a heart attack at his Jasper, Alabama home on Sunday night. An ambulance rushed him to the hospital immediately after but unfortunately, he passed away.

Harris earned grand praise during his time on American Idol. The singer left the judges in awe during his 2014 audition in Salt Lake City where he performed the Allman Brothers Band’s “Sunshine.” At the time, Keith Urban served as a judge and praised Harris’ vocal abilities.

“You sing ’cause you have to sing, not ’cause you want to sing,” Urban told Harris. “And, I mean that in the deepest way. And, that’s why it’s so believable and real.”

The impression he left on judges and America, at large, helped him gain a wild card vote which secured his place in the semi-final. Prior to that, he didn’t receive enough votes to land in the finals. He made the top 6 of the finals before he was eliminated from the competition.

One of his competitors in season 13, Jessica Meuse, penned a heartfelt tribute on Instagram following a rep for the Walker County Coroner’s confirmation of Harris’ death.

“Your talent and smile will be missed, and the world is definitely a darker and eerily quieter place without you in it,” she wrote. “I’ll miss your random phone calls asking for life advice and talking about the music world… There are a lot of things I realize I will never understand — you leaving us so soon is one of those things.”

Harris is, unfortunately, not the only American Idol contestant to pass away in recent times. In September, season 19 runner-up Willie Spence succumbed to injuries sustained from a car accident.

We’ll keep you posted on any further updates surrounding Harris’ passing.

RIP.

Heart Attack and Cardiac Arrest: Understanding the Difference

NFL Announces Bills-Bengals Will Not Resume This Week & No Changes to Week 18 Schedule

Damar Hamlin, Buffalo Bills safety, suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed on the field during the first quarter of Monday night’s game between the Bills and Cincinnati Bengals, his team said. It’s not clear what caused his cardiac arrest.

Which leads to the question, what exactly is cardiac arrest? According to Heart.Org, cardiac arrest is the abrupt loss of heart function in a person who may or may not has been diagnosed with heart disease. It can come on suddenly or in the wake of other symptoms. Cardiac arrest is often fatal if appropriate steps aren’t taken immediately. More than 356,000 cardiac arrests occur annually outside a hospital in the U.S.

Cardiac arrest and heart attack are not the same. Heart.Org describes a heart attack as being caused by a blockage that stops blood flow to the heart. A heart attack refers to the death of heart muscle tissue due to the loss of blood supply. It’s a problem with one’s circulation. A heart attack is quite serious and sometimes fatal. Cardiac arrest is caused when the heart’s electrical system malfunctions. The heart stops beating properly. The heart’s pumping function is “arrested” or stopped.

In cardiac arrest, death can result quickly if proper steps aren’t taken immediately. Cardiac arrest may be reversed if CPR is performed and a defibrillator shocks the heart and restores a normal heart rhythm within a few minutes.

The symptoms for both are vastly different as well. Heart attacks often begin with sudden chest pain but can also start slowly with mild pain that lasts several hours. Symptoms of a heart attack can vary, and if you’ve had one heart attack, your symptoms may be different if you experience another one. On the other hand, cardiac arrests can often happen to people who didn’t know they had a heart problem. A person experiencing cardiac arrest may collapse and lose consciousness. They may stop breathing or experience difficulty breathing.

If, when reading this, you feel like you may have experienced or are experiencing one of these symptoms, please do not hesitate to Get medical help immediately. Let’s prioritize our health in the new year.
