YNW Melly‘s Mom Reacts To Trial Date Delay: “I’m Sorry, Kid”

YNW Melly‘s mother, Jamie King, has responded to the news that her son’s murder retrial has been pushed back on her Instagram Story, Tuesday. Judge John Murphy ruled, earlier this week, that the rapper will not stand trial in the case again until February. He cited “extraordinary circumstances” in handing down the decision.

“I’m sorry, kid [teary-eyed emoji][broken heart emoji],” she captioned one photo of the headlines. In another post, she elaborated: “Lawsuits, lies, delayed trials, overdue bill, seeing death everyday at work but have no choice but to work. Broken heart, sadness, stress, tears, fears, 5 years.”

YNW Melly’s Trial Pushed Back

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL – FEBRUARY 13: In this handout photo provided by the Broward’s Sheriff’s Office, rapper Y.N.W. Melly’s seen after being charged with two counts of murder in the first degree February 13, 2019, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The trial delay comes following the defense’s recent request to start the jury selection process over again. They had made an error they made while presenting instructions to the group. After accidentally telling them they needed to find the rapper guilty of everything of which he’s accused to proceed with a guilty verdict, they argued that the misstep would cause them to lose “all credibility with the jurors should the court read that instruction.”

The state disagreed with the defense’s motion. “While the state understands the court acting in an abundance of caution, objections being sustained and jury instructions being read by the court to rectify the misstatement of law should not rise to the level of starting over,” prosecutors argued. “All of this time being spent on jurors that have now been struck could have gone to time both sides clearly need to further prepare for the trial. The state does not want this to become a pattern where with each objection made, another group of jurors is struck.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Melly’s upcoming trial on HotNewHipHop. He will now stand trial on February 5, 2024.

YNW Melly Trial: Victim’s Sister Allegedly Threatens Melly’s Mom

YNW Melly is currently on trial for double homicide. Overall, this trial has been almost five years in the making. The rapper has been locked up for a very long time, and he is finally getting his day in court. Although, there is no doubt that the trial has been filled with theatrics. Firstly, things did not start off well for the prosecution as numerous pieces of evidence could not be used in court. However, it seems as though there has been a bit of a shift as more witnesses have taken the stand. Ballistics experts have claimed there is no way that YNW Juvy or Sakchaser could have been killed in a drive-by.

This week, the YNW Melly trial resumed after a week off for the 4th of July festivities. Consequently, all eyes have been on the courtroom, as many are curious about how this will all go down. On Tuesday morning, however, things got off on the wrong foot. According to Terri Austin from Law & Crime, Melly’s mother Jamie King had to get extra protection from the judge. In fact, she was even seen with her own bodyguard.

YNW Melly Trial Continues

If you are asking why this was the case, well, the explanation is quite simple. As Austin explains, YNW Juvy’s sister allegedly threatened King online. These threats detailed a potential attack, and Melly’s defense council immediately flagged it. This subsequently led to the judge’s ruling. Throughout the trial, there has been quite a bit of tension between Melly’s side, and the family of the victims. This was to be expected, however, it does appear as though things have escalated a bit.

The YNW Melly trial will resume today, where we will continue to hear witness testimony. This continues to be a massive developing story, so stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates. Also, let us know what you think of all this, in the comments section down below.

YNW Melly Asked His Mom To Buy Him A Legal Gun, Prosecution Claims In Ongoing Trial

YNW Melly’s double murder trial has been playing out for the better part of June, and so far, we’ve seen plenty of interesting twists and turns in the case. The accused killer has been making plenty of headlines with his antics, from appearing to pray before jurors entered the courtroom to being criticized for smiling from ear to ear and letting his personality shine through during some of the proceedings. In the beginning, many lawyers chiming in on the case shared the opinion that Melly could potentially beat his charges due to the prosecution’s near-impossible job proving him guilty.

However, new evidence has seemingly turned things around, as alleged text messages between the Florida native and his mother, Jamie King, have been presented as evidence against him. In the video below, the prosecution presents screenshots of messages sent by Melly both ahead of and following the homicides, using his consistent speech pattern to prove their validity. “Listen I [don’t] care about any of this but you [and] I have not posted anything about Sak,” King wrote to her son about one his alleged victims prior to his death. “He jumping what his sister started, making posts about me.”

Prosecution Presents Troubling Evidence Against YNW Melly

More screenshots shown later in the video find Melly asking his mother to “Get [him] a Glock ASAP,” as well as sending her his location around the time the crimes took place in 2018. “Like go now,” YNW urged her. “Ok, what’s wrong? I got your .45,” she wrote back. “I just don’t want no illegal gun. Well dats not illegal,” the recording artist responded.

“But I rather have a Glock 40 or 19,” other alleged messages from Melly read. Shortly after the seven-minute mark, Melly’s defense attorneys attempt to object, however, the judge allowed the prosecution to continue. Now that these receipts have entered the chat, social media commentators are starting to think things might not go in his favour.

YNW Melly’s Murder Trial Stress Gave His Mother A Heart Attack, She Claims

YNW Melly’s ongoing double-murder trial has brought forth plenty of interesting revelations so far. It seems the proceedings have been particularly difficult on the mothers involved, especially those of the two victims – YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser. Of course, there’s also the mother of Melly’s ex-girlfriend. She was brought to the stand as a witness for the prosecution last week. During her testimony, the woman made it abundantly clear that she and her daughter have felt as though they’re being threatened by law enforcement.

While that news was upsetting to hear, it dulls in comparison to claims from Melly’s own mother. She apparently suffered a heart attack due to her stress. Jamie King, who’s been in the courtroom regularly, used an Instagram Story to express her feelings earlier this week. “I’m deleting this app. I can’t be crying and making myself upset because of a lying clout chaser who won’t even show his face in court but care so much,” she vented over a black screen. “I had one heart attack already because of stress,” King added.

“I refuse to let this kill me, I try to be peaceful and respectful to all of you. I pray for everyone because I know it’s the right thing to do ❤️‍🩹,” King’s rant ended. Today (June 20), Melly is back in Broward County court as his trial resumes. As previously reported, he’s the first person facing new state laws that require a minimum 8-4 vote by a jury to convict with the death penalty.

In terms of other recent updates on the YNW Melly double-murder trial, the 23-year-old was officially denied a mistrial following the defense’s motion on his behalf. Regardless of this loss, attorney Bradford Cohen, who previously represented Melly, has shared his opinion that the prosecution will likely have a hard time proving that the accused killer is guilty for a number of reasons. YNW Melly’s Mom Shares Heartfelt Letter From Rapper Following The Holidays

YNW Melly spent yet another holiday season behind bars as he awaits his murder trial but his family’s making sure that he’s in good spirits.

Jamie King, YNW Melly’s mother, took to Instagram where she shared a photo of a letter Melly sent her recently. King and her family paid a visit to Broward County Jail in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to wish Melly a merry Christmas. However, they weren’t able to visit him inside the facility. Instead, they held signs outside in hopes that Melly would see their message.

In the letter, Melly expressed his utmost appreciation for King, his grandma, and B-Slime for showing up for him.

“Damn, y’all made my night, my whole month. So glad I seen y’all, I hope you see me. I know y’all did right when you went screaming ‘I SEE HIM,’ they made you leave,” YNW Melly wrote. “Lit da whole jail up. Even tho they tried to make it da worst, still you found a way to make it the BEST.”

“I will always be here to make your darkest nights bright even if I have to bring the light to you son I love you [YNW Melly] so much my 1st born,” she wrote.

While YNW Melly appears to be in good spirits, he expressed concerns about jail conditions last month. In a series of statements, Melly explained how he feared for his life due to the treatment he faced from jail officials.

“I am being subjected to cruel and unusual treatment at the hands of deputies and high-ranking staff of the Broward Sheriff’s Office,” he said. “I have been threatened by Deputies, Lieutenants and Sergeants. They say ‘they will hide me from the world’ and threaten to ‘beat my ass every day.’ If I tell my lawyers they will lie and say I hit them first.”

We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding YNW Melly’s case.
