Wendy Williams Is Reportedly Suffering From Aphasia And Dementia

There’s been a lot of mystery surrounding Wendy Williams amid her fall from grace in recent years. The 59-year-old has largely been out of the spotlight amid long-standing rumours of a health crisis. Today (February 22), her team is speaking out on Williams’ behalf, giving pop culture fanatics long-awaited answers regarding her erratic behaviour and noticeably different appearance. As USA Today reports, a statement confirms that the New Jersey native is battling several mental conditions as of 2023. “Wendy would not have received confirmation of these diagnoses were it not for the diligence of her current care team, who she chose, and the extraordinary work of the specialists at Weill Cornell Medicine,” reps wrote.

“Receiving a diagnosis has enabled Wendy to receive the medical care she requires,” they further added. “In 2023, after undergoing a battery of medical tests, Wendy was officially diagnosed with primary progressive phasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD).” According to their message, the former is “a condition affecting language and communication abilities,” while the latter is “a progressive disorder impacting behaviour and cognitive functions.” Both have already “presented significant hurdles in Wendy’s life,” likely explaining her departure from the public eye.

Ahead of Thursday’s news, members of Williams’ family began speaking out on her condition and where their relationships with her stand now. “We’ve all seen the images over the last few months and, really, few years of what has seemed like a spiral for my aunt.” niece Alex Finnie told People. The outlet says the entertainer stays at an undisclosed care facility now, where Williams is able to contact her loved ones, but they’re unable to reach out first.

News of Wendy Williams’ deteriorating condition is sad, but we’ll always have fond memories of the controversial media personality to look back on. She’s been a part of numerous industry beefs throughout her career, including several with our favourite rappers. Look back on some of those at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Beyonce Runs The World On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

February is ramping 2024 up to be a big year for music, and our R&B Season playlist update is here to round up the best of the best. Leading the way is none other than Beyoncé, who just released two new country songs ahead of her Act II album dropping later this year on March 29. “16 CARRIAGES” is definitely the softer of the two cuts, with a slow tempo, rough stomps and kicks, echoing claps, and atmospheric string and organ arrangements. On the other hand, “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” has more of a traditional hoedown swing and gorgeously light and breezy guitars and banjos.

Next up on our R&B Season update is the new song from Jessie Reyez for the Bob Marley film, One Love. Her rendition of “Is This Love” is a bit of a sultrier and more woozy take on the original classic, with even more wah-heavy guitar licks and more elaborate vocal harmonies. Other tracks for this project have also given fresh spins on these untouchable anthems, and it’s been at least curious to see these new treatments. Reyez in particular does a great job of paying tribute to the reggae legend’s tone and delivery here.

Furthermore, we also wanted to shout out the new cut from Amaal Nuux on here, “Late To The Party.” This week, this is the song that adds a more contemporary production feel and hip-hop fusion on our R&B Season update. It’s still indebted mostly to soul, but the sharp snares, simple kick pattern, and occasional cowbell hits would envelop a lot of different fans of different genres. To top it all off and bring it all together is a delicate performance from the Somali-Canadian singer-songwriter.

Finally, we wanted to give a shoutout to Emotional Oranges’ new single, “Ready.” The snaps and watery production here roots this firmly in ’90s inspiration, and the modern sheen on the vocals and reverb effects give it a nice touch. Let us know what your favorite R&B Season addition was this week in the comments blow -– and what else we missed, too. Check the playlist out above and stick around on HNHH for more great music drops each week.

Yeat & ScHoolboy Q Steal The Show On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

It’s getting busier and busier for new hip-hop releases in 2024, and our Fire Emoji playlist update is here to round it all up. Moreover, we’ve highlighted the best of the best new music drops this week for your convenience, and we have a big one to start off with. Yeat just dropped his highly anticipated studio album 2093, and its lengthy tracklist contains a lot of standouts. If you want some appetizers to ease you in, we’d recommend the Future-assisted “Stand On It” and the Lil Wayne-assisted “Lyfestylë,” plus the brand-new Drake collab “As We Speak,” which isn’t on the playlist but warrants a mention.

Next on our Fire Emoji update is the new song from Tierra Whack, “27 CLUB,” ahead of her new album dropping later this year. It’s a solemn and dreamy cut that leans more into soulful and low-key atmospheres rather than a straight-up banger, but it still resonates a lot. In addition, speaking of an upcoming album, ScHoolboy Q just dropped his Blue Lips single “Yeern 101.” With distorted bass, clubby claps, fast flows, and sharp snares, this is an exciting new direction for the TDE veteran that sets his next project up to impress.

Beyond singles for upcoming albums and other, more developed rollouts, we also have a lot of loosies to cover on Fire Emoji this week. Buddy’s “Like This” is a great example, whose breezy and crisp instrumentation showcases it as a great standalone pallet cleanser. Also, Gunna came through with another somber, guitar-led cut with “Bittersweet,” whose melodies, sentiment, and mood definitely reflect that emotion. Planet Giza’s “2wice Again” melds R&B and pristine boom-bap in a similarly melancholy way, and we hope there’s much more of where these singles came from. We apologize if these artists are leading up to projects and we’re just waffling about loose tracks.

Rounding out the list is Bryson Tiller with “Whatever She Wants,” whose lo-fi but bouncy beat provides a lot of energy for his passionate vocals. Finally, one of the best drops this week was Conway The Machine and Joey Bada$$’ long overdue team-up, “Vertino.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji inclusion was this week -– and what else we missed, too. Check out the playlist above and stick around on HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.

Usher & Little Simz Get Grand On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

It’s a big month for new music releases, and our R&B Season playlist update is here to round up the best soulful jams from this week. Leading the way is a massive one, which comes paired with an even more massive event. Moreover, Usher previewed his Super Bowl halftime show with a brand new album, COMING HOME, which released over the weekend. It has a lot of different melodic styles, aesthetic approaches, and dynamic displays of his vocal range and songwriting talent. If you’re looking for a couple of tracks to clue you into the project, we’d recommend “Kissing Strangers” and “Stone Kold Freak” as particular highlights.

Furthermore, our R&B Season update also contains a pretty big team-up between superstar artists in the fields of R&B and hip-hop. Of course, we’re referring to the new collaborative single between Jermaine Dupri, Nelly, Ashanti, and Juicy J, which is titled “This Lil’ Game We Play.” It’s a fast-paced and heavily danceable jam with a lot of personality, lust, and plenty of charisma from its artists. It’s been a long time since we got a radio-style song that encompasses pure fun, and nothing more to crowd up the mix.

In addition, the most underrated pick on our R&B Season update is easily the new release from Tommy Richman, a dual single with “SOULCRUSHER” and “WHAT DO U LIKE.” Specifically, we want to shout out the latter for its creative flip of Jersey club rhythms in a wavier and more melodically constant atmosphere than what those beats typically match with. It’s a pretty catchy song with simple synth embellishments and a lot of layered harmonies. If there’s something more long-form on the way from Richman, we can’t wait to dive in.

Finally, for the best music release of the week, we have the one and only Little Simz’s new EP, Drop 7. Similar to “WHAT DO U LIKE,” which brightened and re-contextualized Jersey club, Simz’s “Far Away” revitalizes those drums, while also giving the same treatment to drill. It’s a gorgeous cut vocally, and the tender pianos anchor it in a dreamy mood. Let us know what your favorite R&B Season pick was this week, and what else we missed too. Check out the playlist above and, as always, stick around on HNHH for the latest great music releases around the clock.

Kanye West & Latto Go Wild On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

It’s a big week for our Fire Emoji playlist update, which rounded up the best of the best hip-hop that released this week. Leading the way is the much-anticipated collaborative album between Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign, Vultures, which finally landed on most streaming platforms. We highlighted the single “Talking” with North West, which dropped earlier this week, but we’d also recommend highlights like “Fuk Sumn” with Travis Scott and Playboi Carti. In addition, Latto lit up the femcee world with her new single “Sunday Service,” which some fans think is a diss toward other female rappers. She maintains that it’s not that deep, but all that attention for a true-blue banger can’t hurt.

Furthermore, another Fire Emoji highlight, speaking of trunk-knockers from women in hip-hop, is GloRilla’s new single, “Yeah Glo!” Like any amazing Memphis banger, this has an unstoppable and confident flow, heavy drums, and light melodic elements that still preserve the song’s griminess. Another simple but menacing offering this week came from BabyDrill and Luh Tyler, who linked up for their newest record “ScoreGod.” Their nonchalant deliveries and ethereal, organ-like synth hits make an atmosphere that’s as woozy as it is hard-hitting.

But you might be wanting a more lyrical offering this week, and for that, look no further than Stove God Cooks’ new single “Melo Chip and a Brick.” It’s a fiery performance from the Griselda-affiliated spitter, paired with a brash but dramatically enveloping sample flip from none other than Conductor Williams. Alas, it wouldn’t be a Fire Emoji update if we didn’t also mention a Chief Keef release, if applicable any given week. His new Mike WiLL Made-It collaboration, the cut “DIRTY NACHOS,” is a fiery and aggressive addition to his already heated catalog.

Finally, for the best release of the week, we have Little Simz’s new EP Drop 7, on which “I Ain’t Feelin It” is a dangerously cool and intoxicating jam. What was your favorite Fire Emoji release this week -– and what did we miss? Drop your thoughts in the comments section down below and check out the playlist above. Killer Mike Reveals Son’s Kidney Transplant Went Smoothly: Report

Killer Mike’s son, Mikael “Pony Boy” Render, has just undergone a successful kidney transplant after waiting three long years to find one. This update comes courtesy of TMZ and numerous other sources. This all went down hours after Mike’s successful outing at the 66th GRAMMY Awards. He would take three of the four rap categories for his first solo album in over a decade with MICHAEL. If Killer Mike’s son being rushed to the hospital for the procedure was not enough, he was also arrested on the premises of the award show.

He physically got into it with security at the Crypto.com Arena and he recently released a statement that things got a little out of hand. But, he thinks everything should be fine on that end. While that is a bit of an uncertainty, Killer Mike’s son’s health is for sure on the up and up. Mike told TMZ that “Pony” “did really well.” He says Pony will be in recovery for a few hours before he’s moved back to his hospital room, but they’re already seeing some positive signs — Mike says it “looks like the kidney is already working.”

Additionally, Mike revealed that his 21-year-old boy will be in recovery for a few hours. However, the doctors are seeing tremendous progress. The Atlanta rapper says that it “looks like the kidney is already working.” While Killer Mike did say he was “elated” when they found a match, we can only imagine the stress. We wish his son a speedy recovery going forward.

What are your thoughts on Killer Mike’s son and his kidney transplant going well? Is this a sign that things will clear up for the Grammy-winning rapper? Lil Durk Will Hit The Road With Drake & J. Cole On “It’s All A Blur – Big As The What? Tour”

Lil Durk had reason to celebrate this past weekend after nabbing his first-ever GRAMMY Award. The Chicago, Illinois MC has been in the game for many years at this point. But, he was not able to nab that iconic trophy; until Sunday, February 4. Durk got to walk up onstage and thank the fans and everyone involved for winning Best Melodic Rap Performance. “All My Life” featuring J. Cole beat out some stiff competition.

The other nominees were Burna Boy and 21 Savage’s “Sittin’ on Top of the World,” Doja Cat’s “Attention,” Drake and 21 Savage for “Spin Bout U,”
and SZA with “Low.” On top of the recognition, Durk has also been doing his thing in 2024. He laid down a great verse on 21’s new album american dream on the track “dangerous” with Metro Boomin. Now, Lil Durk will be hitting the road in the coming days.

According to AllHipHop and Drake’s Instagram, he will be giving fans the “most T’d show of your life.” Drake and J. Cole are currently on their It’s All A Blur – Big As The What? Tour. It got going in Denver back in late January and Durk will be making appearances very soon. Outside of this announcement from The Boy, we do not know the fine details. There are some shows where Cole is not there, so Durk could be the fill-in. But, it would be cool if he shows up for every show.

What are your thoughts on Lil Durk joining Drake and J. Cole on the It’s All A Blur – Big As The What? Tour? Do you think he will fill in for Cole is not going to be there? Or will he be at every show in the second leg? What songs would you want Durk to perform? Did he deserve the GRAMMY win for Best Melodic Rap Performance? Usher & Zacari Bring The Smoothness To Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

February isn’t getting any hotter for the northern hemisphere, but that doesn’t mean that the soul is getting colder. Moreover, we rounded up the very best of the best new music of the week on our new R&B Season playlist update in this genre’s field. While sometimes that genre barrier can become a little blurry, this next collaboration and artist falls firmly in that camp. Of course, we’re talking about “The King Of R&B,” Usher, and his newest team-up with Pheelz, their single “Ruin.” However, while the vocals definitely fit within that style, the Afrobeat-inspired beat makes for a uniquely breezy take that shows off a lot of vocal strength.

Next up on our R&B Season playlist update is the new Zacari song, “Ocean,” which is a another smooth and pleasant jam. Of course, the vocalist does very well switching between lower tones and high-pitched falsettos, which gives some nice dynamism to the guitar-led beat. Also, additional production elements such as flanging, atmospheric synth pads, and more add to the emotive punch of the song and make it stand out from a typical ballad. Overall, it’s an easy add to a driving playlist or for more chill vibes.

Speaking of atmosphere, we’d be remiss not to shout out SAFE’s new song, “Same Night,” on this week’s R&B Season playlist update. It’s another romantic cut that finds strength in its warbled samples and slow, reverb-drenched drum beat with sharp snares and crisp hi-hats. Not only that, but his vocals never overwhelm the instrumentation and vice versa, and it’s a very nice balance between tense swells and melancholy valleys. Even though it’s not the most eventful track here, it’s exactly the kind of mood-setting that much of this genre champions so well.

Finally, we wanted to give a nod to Daniel Caesar’s soft and patient cover of “Waiting In Vain” by Bob Marley, off of One Love – Music Inspired By The Film. This reimagining is definitely more sultry and less joyful than its original, but its strong sentiment and narrative core still holds on tight. Let us know in the comments what your favorite release on our R&B Season playlist update was this week -– and what else we missed, too. Check out the playlist above and, as always, log back into HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.

Lil Yachty & TiaCorine Get Odd On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Welcome to February: the first releases of the year are out, we’ve had time to enjoy them, and now it’s time for the big guns to come out. While this is by no means a ridiculously huge release window, our new Fire Emoji playlist update and its round-up of the best of the best hip-hop this week proves that things will only get better as 2024 draws on. Leading the way is Lil Yachty’s new single “A Cold Sunday,” one of the most creative and unique rap tracks he’s ever done. With an odd time signature, and flows and drums that adapt on a dime, it’s a dizzying but still soulful record that the Atlanta native still shines on.

Next on Fire Emoji is TiaCorine’s new eight-track offering Almost There, with a lot of colorful and aggressive highlights. However, “Blick” with Key Glock might be the best out of these, with heavy distortion and fiery performances giving off so much energy. Another project release this week was Hit-Boy and The Alchemist’s THEODORE & ANDRE EP, on which the menacing and woozy “THE MAIN EVENT” with Johnathan Hulett bangs hard. Also, Icewear Vezzo’s Live From The 6, particularly the track “Rap Game,” is your fun-to-no-end Detroit rap offering this week.

Not only that, but Fire Emoji also highlights the best singles this week, whose artists will hopefully keep grinding in 2024. For example, Don Toliver made his return with “Bandit,” an epic and wavy trap banger with his always vibrant vocal tone. In addition, That Mexican OT tapped DaBaby for “Point Em Out,” which takes all the most cold-blooded elements of many regional scenes and combines them into a trunk-knocker. We’d be remiss not to shout out NBA YoungBoy’s “BNYX Da Reaper,” too, and this collaboration is a refreshing and successful triumph for both its rapper and its producer.

Meanwhile, JT delivered the most confident and cool-as-a-cucumber performance of this whole update on “Sideways.” Finally, there’s YNW Melly and YNW BSlime teaming up for a light and croon-heavy cut, “772 Love Pt. 3 (Your Love).” Let us know in the comments section what your favorite release on this Fire Emoji update was in the comments -– and what else we missed this week, too. Cori Broadus Shares Major Update Post-Stroke, Fans Wish Snoop Dogg’s Daughter Well

Snoop Dogg’s daughter Cori Broadus recently had a scary stroke, which shocked and concerned many folks within and beyond the hip-hop world. Fortunately, she quickly received medical attention and, for the past two weeks or so, she is on the path to recovery. Whether it was fellow artists in the rap game, other pop culture figures, or countless social media users, the 24-year-old received a lot of well wishes during this difficult time. What’s more is that her most recent update, shared via Instagram on Monday (January 29), is the most promising one we’ve gotten so far when it comes to her well-being.

“Honey, I’m home! [kissing face emoji] [purple heart emoji],” Cori Broadus captioned a picture of her in bed after returning to her home. “So, today is my first day actually walking. Like, walking walking,” she expressed in another social media post: a video of her taking a walk. “I’m so exhausted but I’m so proud of myself. I’m getting my strength back slowly and surely. I just love showing you guys the process of everything.” You can see both updates below.
