Daniel Caesar Announces Release Date For Upcoming Album “Never Enough”

Earlier this month, Daniel Caesar announced his long-awaited third studio album, Never Enough. Having teased the project since its initial confirmation, Caesar finally took to Instagram today (February 28) to reveal the drop date. The post, which highlighted April 7th, 2023 as the day when Never Enough will be streamable, was accompanied by the caption, “ready?” Having been spotty with releases since his 2019 album, Case Study 01, fans of the 27-year-old immediately flooded his comment section in anticipation of this upcoming 15-track work.

As part of the promotion for Never Enough, Caesar gave fans a taste of what he’s been brewing up in the studio recently with the releases of Do You Like Me? and Let Me Go. The former dropped first on January 27th, and depicts what the singer describes as the “90 degrees of a love triangle.” He explained the inspiration for the soft ballad further on Instagram, writing “[it’s] a song about a woman I respect deeply.” His second teaser song, which dropped on February 10th, carries a slightly more upbeat tone while still maintaining Caesar’s vulnerable and romantic essence.

Caesar’s “Never Enough” Drops On April 7th

Just from the two-song preview, Never Enough seems to still boast Caesar’s distinguishable style, but with a continuation of experimentation and added flare. In a 2022 interview with HypeBeast, the Canadian reflected on the shifts in his musical influences and genre tastes. “I’m kind of dipping into all the other influences, all of the music that I listened to growing up,” he told the publication. “I’ve always tried to take all my influences and put them in a pot and stir them up and see what happens.” Ultimately, Caesar noted his distaste for being labeled.

As the release of his first studio project with Republic Records remains more than five weeks away, Caesar continues to promote Never Enough on his socials with the album’s royal blue branding. Excited fans have expressed their anticipation for the upcoming release in his comments section. In response to his initial question, one user answered, “u know damn well we are ready.” Be sure to keep up with HNHH for more news on the release of Never Enough.

Lil Tjay Teases Upcoming Album: “Putting My All Into This”

Lil Tjay has experienced a lifetime of ups and downs since his last studio album. Last June, he was shot seven times during an attempted robbery. After being taken to the hospital and eventually recovering, Tjay did all he could to get back on his feet. He soon released a diss track to his shooters titled “FACESHOT,” inspired by 50 Cent’s “Many Men.” He also recorded and dropped a song from his hospital bed titled “Beat the Odds.” In the past couple of months, he not only dropped another single in November titled “Give You What You Want,” but also featured on a groundbreaking song with one of the hottest artists in the genre.

“Gangsta Boo” off Ice Spice’s recent January EP saw Tjay and Spice crack the Billboard Hot 100 with the sensational collaboration. However, the release of this track came just days after Tjay was arrested for gun possession in New York. In fact, he was stopped and detained while on the way to the music video shoot for “Gangsta Boo.” Still battling these legal troubles, Tjay currently hopes to instead focus on his upcoming full-length solo project.

Lil Tjay’s Instagram Story

On Tuesday (Feb. 28), Tjay posted an Instagram story referencing his impending studio album. “Putting my all into this album this gon be my best one yet,” he wrote. “When I step better show me my respect ima vet.” Currently untitled and without a release date, Tjay evidently wants to gain more respect with this forthcoming LP.

He continued by making sure people don’t switch up after he drops the project. “Don’t try spin the block. I don’t wanna hear about regrets, bout some sh*t u knew u was wrong about but ain’t address. Thinking I was cold? but u bold!” he wrote. “It’s just been too long respectfully im rii back on the necks.” Tjay’s last studio album came with 2021’s Destined 2 Win. In April 2022, his freestyle “Lavish” was meant to be a teaser for a soon-to-come mixtape. But, understandably, his shooting likely derailed any rollout plans he had. Now, looking forward to his third studio album, it will be interesting to see what Tjay brings to the table.

Lil Nas X Says Reveals Plans For New Album

Lil Nas X has not made his presence felt in quite some time. In 2022, the Atlanta pop-rap star only put out two singles throughout the year. The first came in June and was titled “Late To Da Party (F*CK BET).” Featuring NBA YoungBoy, the song came during a time when Nas X was infuriated with how the BET Awards committee snubbed him. Next came “Star Walkin” in September. The single was made as the anthem for the League of Legends Worlds tournament. Just before its release, Nas X was named the president of League of Legends.

All of last year, though, fans were holding their breath in anticipation of Lil Nas X’s next full-length album. His 2021 debut MONTERO was a smashing success. Landing at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and selling nearly 125,000 units, MONTERO proved that Nas X is here to stay. So, as the page turned to 2022, listeners wondered what was next for him. Initially, he had planned for the album’s promotional singles to be the aforementioned “Late To Da Party” as well as another track named “Down Souf Hoes” featuring Saucy Santana. While the former did release, the latter still has yet to come. But, the wait for another LP may not last much longer.

Lil Nas X Talks Album

On Monday (Feb. 20), Nas X used his favorite platform Twitter to communicate with his fans about what he’s been up to. Under a fan’s tweet mocking him for his lack of songs released lately, Nas X gave some useful information. First, referring to “Down Souf Hoes,” he said the song got leaked so it did not release. He continued, though, by saying it will likely still land on his upcoming album: “it leaked but it’s still on the album.” Speaking of the album, he also added that it will likely come out in the summer. “most likely summer,” he responded to a fan.

Furthermore, fans then asked Nas X how many song would be on the currently untitled album. To this, he replied that he is still making music so he does not know. “idk i love so many songs plus i’m still in the studio making music so it’s gone be hard to pick,” he replied. Lastly, he spoke on how he approcahes song and album releases. Evident in past singles, Nas X said he likes for each song to have its moment when it comes out. “it’s mostly planning now,” he said. “i could easily just release music but i have to build moments around this shit. i have to go bigger than before!” It appears that Lil Nas X has a clear vision about what he wants out of his next album. So, for fans, all they have to do is sit back and wait just a bit longer. Check out Nas X’s tweets about his album above.

6LACK Announces Long-Awaited Third Album, “S.I.H.A.L.”

6LACK just unorthodoxly announced his next album, presumably titled S.I.H.A.L., set for release in March of this year. Moreover, it’s been a long time since he’s dropped a full-length, which he seemed to acknowledge. While he didn’t completely disappear from releases, he took some creative moves to promote his return. For example, he took the Kendrick route of including a Dropbox-like folder on his Instagram with his third album, albeit password-protected. Overall, it seems like the Atlanta-based artist is prepping fans for a big return.

Also, he engaged in another creative promotional campaign on Valentine’s Day just a few days ago. In fact, he enlisted the help of Atlanta’s Water Boyz and turned them to the Flower Boyz (no diss to Tyler). Moreover, they went around the city and handed out roses to people on the streets or going about their day. With the rose, they delivered a note that read, “See you soon, Love 6LACK.” Actually, it’s quite wholesome and entertaining to see people’s reactions, as some know who he is while others are confused. In addition to his vague promotion on his website (and his label website indicating the March release date), it seems much more personal than the typical rollout.

6LACK Teases New Album In Atlanta

Furthermore, not much else is known about the album apart from those details. Moreover, the album title S.I.H.A.L. comes from promotional material of the Valentine’s Day flower giveaway on his Twitter page. However, it should be noted that other publications reported the album title to be S.I.H.L., so even the details we do know are a bit murky. Still, this will be 6LACK’s first album since 2018’s East Atlanta Love Letter. That project came out two years after his critically acclaimed debut, Free 6LACK.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking for recent jams to hold you over, he recently collaborated with Jacquees and Summer Walker on the former’s “Tell Me It’s Over.” Also, he appeared on the Christmastime R&B superstar project, Home For The Holidays 2 alongside dvsn, Summer, and more. Overall, fans are finally getting new music from a beloved and accomplished crooner after five years. With that in mind, stick around on HNHH for the latest on 6LACK and his comeback album.

Latto Teases Two Mystery Collaborations On Next Album

Latto just teased two mystery, but fan-favorite collaborations on her next album. Moreover, the revelation came after people started to speculate on who’d appear on the 777 star’s next project. After her single “Lottery” dropped last week to much acclaim, fans are already thinking about what’ll be next for her. Furthermore, one fan specifically had a wishlist of potential features. “10 Collabs I want for Latto’s next album,” they wrote before listing them out. They suggested Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Summer Walker, Chris Brown, Don Toliver, SZA, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Kim Petras, and Doja Cat.

Then, the Columbus rapper quote-tweeted the fan’s suggestions with some exciting news. “1 of these already done,” she shared, before reading the list over again and making the good news even better. “Wait, I read the list again… *2,” she added. Soon after, fans made their guesses and tried to decipher the new guests. However, it’s unclear if she meant that they were already done for her next album or in general. If it’s in general, we know that she worked with Chris Brown, Meg, and Doja Cat to some capacity.

Latto Teases New Collaborations

Of course, many fans prayed and hoped that Brown wasn’t the collab that Latto was talking about. Moreover, a recent announcement of his collab with Chlöe caused many to bring up his history of abuse again. However, given they worked together already, that ship sailed a while ago for these hopefuls. Still, it’s quite the eclectic list with a lot of potential. After all, Latto already remixed SZA’s “Smoking on my Ex Pack,” so there aren’t many degrees of separation there.

Meanwhile, Petras recently won a Grammy for her collaboration with Sam Smith, “Unholy.” Even though the “Big Energy” MC is pretty firmly in a rap lane, hearing her cross over into more hyper pop-inspired sounds would be insane. Regardless, Latto recently fell victim to a 130-song leak, which she handled with grace. While we don’t know how this will affect her next album, at least we know there’s some guaranteed heat on the way. However you feel about this list, let us know in the comments who you think will appear on the 24-year-old’s next project. Also, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Latto.

The Alchemist Picks Up The Mic On “60 Days” With Larry June

Hopefully The Alchemist and Larry June are dropping their album soon, because their latest single “60 Days” is so promising. Moreover, the track features both California rap artists in their best elements. On one hand, June comes through with steady and effortless verses, whereas Al- wait, did he just start rapping? Not only does The Alchemist produce here, but he gifts fans a nice 8-bar verse with some engaging rhymes and wordplay. Of course, Al got his start as an MC and that, paired with his decades of experiences, might be lost on newer listeners. Overall, if you had a doubt about either of these artists, “60 Days” indicates that a project could just bring out the best in each other.

First, the instrumental here is classic Alchemist production. For example, the bright and otherworldly string samples and very light beat contrast with deep bass. As perfectly evidenced on albums of his like Sandwich, he’s a master at making a grimy beat feel wondrous, and a dreamy instrumental feel grounded. It also pairs well with June’s more understated delivery here, even as he details his lavish lifestyle. Most importantly, maybe these contrasts are indicative of the tracks themes. A lot can happen in 60 days, and there’s always the conflict between where you are and what it took to get you there.

Still, what did you think of this newest track from Larry June and The Alchemist, the lush “60 Days”? Moreover, are you looking forward to a new album from the two? However you feel, let us know in the comments and check out the music video and standout bars down below. Also, if you haven’t heard it yet, you can find the single on your preferred streaming service. As always, come back to HNHH for the best new music of the week from top-tier rappers, producers, or both.

Hitkidd Drops Female Rap Posse Cut Single, “You The Type”

“F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” producer Hitkidd just released “You the Type” with Aleza, K Carbon, Slimeroni, and Gloss Up. Overall, it’s a fiery and hard-hitting trap cut with great energy from every single female MC. In fact, they’re all from GloRilla’s clique, with whom the producer made their breakout track last year. Furthermore, each rapper gets a moment of shine via short and sweet verses that don’t let the energy up. As far as the instrumental, it’s just as murderous and bass-heavy as you’d expect from a Memphis production. However, it feels particularly dramatic or menacing thanks to low piano chords and regal melodies.

Unfortunately, the “F.N.F.” collaborators had a small falling out a couple of months ago as GloRilla and Hitkidd discussed contract issues. However, the producer’s longtime business partner Kadeem Phillips provided a third perspective, albeit from Hitkidd’s camp. “Glo independently collects money for FNF its all hers she just doesnt own the song and never will,” he wrote. “We actually saved her from losing millions and Glo was able to get a deal without having to sell her independent record. FNF was created to help all the girls not for CMG.”

Still what did you think of this latest Memphis posse cut, “You the Type” with Hitkidd, Aleza, K Carbon, Slimeroni, and Gloss Up? However you feel, let us know in the comments and check out standout bars and the music video down below. Also, if you haven’t heard the track yet, you can find the loaded new song on your preferred streaming service. As always, come back to HNHH every week for the best new music releases.

Quotable Lyrics
I’m that type of b***h, I want your n***a, I’ll come snatch him (I’ll come take him)

Talib Kweli & Madlib Announce Joint Album, “Liberation 2”

Talib Kweli and Madlib just announced Liberation 2, a sequel to their 2007 collab album releasing on March 6. While it will release exclusively on the Luminary podcast network, they released the project’s first single “After These Messages” via a YouTube music video. Moreover, the track features a very special performance from Kweli’s son, Amani. In addition, the Black Star’s daughter Diani will also appear on Liberation 2‘s tracklist. With this announcement, hip-hop fans are likely salivating at this collaboration between two legends in the game.

Still, the fact that it’s only coming out via a podcast network is likely disappointing for the Spotify-aligned fans out there. However, it calls back to its first installment, Liberation, and its similarly unorthodox release. Moreover, Kweli and Madlib released the album as a full download online in early 2007. It wasn’t in record stores, but rather on the Stones Throw Rappcats website and both artists’ MySpace pages. Also, this isn’t the first time the Brooklyn rapper has worked with Luminary. Exclusively through that platform, he and Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) released a long-awaited return from their duo Black Star. Their album No Fear of Time released in May of 2022.

Furthermore, the sequel to their fan-favorite Liberation collaboration will feature Q-Tip, Roc Marciano, and Westside Gunn. In addition, Liberation 2 is reportedly including a posthumous Mac Miller performance, as well. Kweli expressed that their recording process took a decade, and spoke on his thematic intent. “People today are taking stock of what is most important — family, health, wellness, love,” he remarked in a statement. “The materialism and debauchery that is stereotypically associated with hip-hop has lost some of its luster.

“Madlib and I have been consistent in our messaging,” he continued. “Never has there been a better time for such honest, message-driven music that pays tribute to the sounds that came before us.” Whereas Talib recently revived his duo, the legendary producer beside him recently continued his work on forming one of the best current duos. Him and Freddie Gibbs have incredible chemistry on wax, as evidenced by their most recent effort, 2019’s Bandada. Regardless, come back to HNHH for the upcoming album, and for more release news from your favorite hip-hop artists.

LL Cool J Speaks On Upcoming Album, Praises Q-Tip’s Production

LL Cool J recently opened up about his forthcoming album and praised the legendary Q-Tip for his excellent executive production. While the rapper celebrated a big night at the 65th Grammy Awards red carpet, he’s got an even bigger year ahead. Moreover, this new LP from LL will be his first since 2013’s Authentic. “I know all the tricks. I got this covered,” he expressed to E! News. “Look, it was executive produced by Q-Tip. The album I think is really, really special. I think it’s something it’s modern without chasing. It’s a whole new thing. I can’t wait for the people to see it.

“I think honestly and sincerely that Q-Tip as a producer is unbelievable and what he did on this record for me, I think is amazing,” he continued. “So the world will decide.” Shortly after the Grammys, the rap pioneer doubled down on his promo via Twitter. “My new album is coming this year,” he wrote earlier today (February 6). Also, he previously teased his next album on his 55th birthday. “I’m competing with myself on this new album. Wait til you hear this MF,” the MC tweeted. “This year B. It’s coming.” As he also celebrates hip-hop’s 50th anniversary, it’s going to be a big year for the Rock The Bells mogul.

On that note, he hosted a celebration for the genre at the Grammy awards ceremony. Alongside The Roots, with the occasion curated by their drummer and icon Questlove, he blended different eras of hip-hop together. While DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ Drama controlled the mixers, hip-hop history unfolded on the Grammys stage. It began with performances from some of its pioneers: Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Run-DMC, and LL Cool J himself. Then, the show moved through a barrage of rap icons playing some of their biggest hits.

Meanwhile, the newer generations also got their slice of the pie. Following Method Man, Queen Latifah, and Public Enemy, artists like Missy Elliott, Nelly, and Busta Rhymes kept the energy up. Finally, the show rounded out with some big current names like Lil Baby, GloRilla, and Lil Uzi Vert. Between this and more great music from some of the genre’s legends, all we can do is wait patiently and take it all in. As always, log back into HNHH for the latest on LL Cool J, upcoming albums, and the artistry of hip-hop.

Rarelyalways Says It’s “URGENT” On New Song

The U.K.’s own Rarelyalways just dropped his second single of the year, and it’s “URGENT” that you give it a chance. Moreover, the South London artist will drop his debut album Work later in the year on March 10. Also, this isn’t the first teaser we’ve received for the project. Just a couple of weeks ago, he released two new tracks: “LET’S” and “Voice note 0142.” With these grimy and energetic tracks, Rarelyalways is setting up a varied and widely-influenced body of work. After all, his background in music education and lifetime of loving music of all kinds should make for an incredible combo. Furthermore, “URGENT” is a woozy, deeply psychedelic, and atmospheric cut that pulls from varied sonic territory.

While the track’s percussion and emphatic flows fit into a hip-hop formula, the rest of the instrumentation reveals Rarely’s creativity. For one, there are some old-school DJ scratches throughout this track that give it a retro feel at certain points. Also, there’s a hypnotic and effect-heavy synth line that persists menacingly in the background, fading in and out. Still, the additional uses of strings swells and deep bass provide a solid foundation for the rapper’s hardened life stories. However, one of the track’s best features is its hazy and abstract song structure. All of its elements fight for the listener’s attention and bob in and out of the track, changing its focus. Once those trumpet lines come in, they pull you out of the murky beat, and drop you right back in once they end.

Still, what did you think of Rarelyalways latest track, “URGENT”? Moreover, are you looking forward to his March 10 debut album, Work? Let us know in the comments and check out some standout bars and the single’s music video down below. Also, if you haven’t heard it yet, you can find the eerie song on your preferred streaming service. As always, log back into HNHH for the best new music in hip-hop and beyond released each week.
