Tyler The Creator Drops “CHROMAKOPIA” Release Date & Cover Art

Tyler The Creator shocked the world by teasing his new album CHROMAKOPIA yesterday (Wednesday, October 16), and in true Tyler fashion, he didn’t take long to deliver on the hype. He just announced that the album will drop on Monday, October 28, an exciting and curious decision due to this being a Monday release. Also, the Hawthorne creative unveiled what is presumably the cover art for the new LP: a picture of the unnamed, mysterious character featured in the visual tease. Whatever’s on the way, fans everywhere can’t wait to hear what world he transports them to next.

Of course, there are a lot of fan theories floating around as to Tyler, The Creator and his possible next vision and era. Some online users are already comparing the aesthetics of CHROMAKOPIA to other T releases such as IGOR and even CHERRY BOMB when it comes to the teased “ST. CHROMA” snippet from yesterday’s visual. The “VIRGINIA BOY” remixer is known for his quasi-conceptual or full-on narrative work, and with a new color palette, persona, and sonic style, it looks like we’re getting another record in that vein.

Tyler The Creator Unveils CHROMAKOPIA Release Date & Artwork

However, that’s the great thing about a Tyler, The Creator album: you don’t really know what to expect until the whole thing lands on your lap. If you’re excited to rep CHROMAKOPIA and support the rollout, pre-order bundles with CDs and commemorative boxes are now available, and you can click right here to get your merch. These include hoodies, T-shirts, hats, and more. Still, as surprising as this whole thing is, maybe we should’ve seen it coming when the multi-hyphenate complained about annoying fans asking for the album recently. Little did we know…

Meanwhile, there are also other projects on the horizon for Tyler The Creator that have other fans feeling just as excited. We’re talking about his role in an A24 film alongside Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow, under the direction of Josh Safdie. Marty Supreme is shaping up to be great, but CHROMAKOPIA has energized fans in the way that only a new era and album could. We’ll hear what Tyler shares with the world on October 28… Maybe a lead single is coming soon?

Tyler, the Creator Teases ‘Chromakopia’ in “ST.CHROMA” Teaser

ST. CHROMA 1 16 screenshot

Welcome to Tyler, the Creator SZN. The superstar rapper has dropped off a new teaser, scored by the single “ST. CHROMA,” hinting at the future release of the album Chromakopia.

The video delivers the energy of a music video. A marching soldier treks through plains with an army of suited men behind him as Tyler’s whispering bars carry the energy. You can see the men march into a Chromakopia shipping container, which eventually explodes below.

Tyler The Creator Teases New Music (And A New Album?) In The Ominous ‘St. Chroma’ Video

It’s been three years since Tyler The Creator‘s most recent album, Call Me If You Get Lost. But, he appears to be teasing a new project.

In the video for a new song “St. Chroma,” a man wearing a mask walks through desert followed by others directly behind him. There’s whispered rapping over a marching beat and a choir, and a container with the word “Chromakopia” on it. The footage ends with the container bursting into flames following an explosion. Could Chromakopia be the title of his next album? We’ll have to wait and see, although the timing is, let’s say, interesting with Tyler’s Camp Flog Gnaw (the best festival in America) coming up next month.

Tyler The Creator recently had Steve Lacy’s back when he was being harassed by fans for new music. “album this album that what happen to hello? the “Bad Habit” singer wrote on Instagram. Tyler commented, “i feel you. sh*t is annoying especially when i never said out my mouth an album was coming. i wanna be an actress lmfao.” He’ll have to settle for starring in an A24 movie alongside Timothée Chalamet and Gwyneth Paltrow.

You can watch the “St. Chroma” video above.

Pharrell Williams & Tyler, The Creator Rep Their Respective Hometowns On “VIRGINIA Boy – Remix”

Pharrell Williams’ LEGO biopic, Piece By Piece, is in theaters as of yesterday, and we want to start off by congratulating him! The actor, producer, rapper, singer, and everything in between has fans and critics raving about the project so far! It has a respectable review from IMD.b of a 7.1 out of 10, and Rotten Tomatoes has a fan score of 91% and a critic score of 81%! We are wishing him nothing but the best going forward with this bold and creative motion picture. In typical fashion, though, Mr. Williams wasn’t just going to gift us a film, we have some new original music accompanying it.

One of the tracks that we have been replaying heavily has been Pharrell and Tyler, The Creator’s “VIRGINIA Boy – Remix.” The influential legend and his modern-day reincarnation are once again having a great time on a track together as they rap about where they’re from and detail it’s vital features. “Hawthorne, Inglewood, West Side, that side / I will kick, kick, kick, push to the other side / South Bay where they drown if they get it out of line / Dark red, light blue, and they keep a magic wand (Boom),” Tyler raps, for instance. Production of the song is handled entirely by Pharrell and its pure excellence. It exudes swagger right from the jump thanks to its bouncy West Coast beat and its saxophone bits. Give the track a spin with the link below.

Pharrell Continues To Impress With “Piece By Piece” Soundtrack

Pharrell knows how to make great music. He’s been doing it since 1992, when he penned a verse for the classic rap single “Rump Shaker.” The single is on the Piece By Piece soundtrack, since the movie of the same name tells Pharrell’s life and career story. There are other classic songs on here, and collabs with the likes of JAY-Z, Snoop Dogg, Clipse, and Justin Timberlake. Piece By Piece is, in one regard, one of the best greatest hits packages you could ever hope to come across. It is a sampler of the best hip hop, pop and R&B music of the last three decades. Don’t worry, though, there’s new stuff too.

It would be pointless to sit here and write about the merits of, say, “Superthug” or “Get Lucky” with Daft Punk. You know these songs, and depending on how you feel about “Happy,” you love these songs. It’s the new material, largely composed and performed by Pharrell solo, that makes Piece By Piece such an interesting listen. Most of the new songs are up top, and they are stellar. “For Real” and the title song are Pharrell in his bag, dishing out radiant melodies over oddball production. The obvious highlight is the “Virginia Boy” remix, though. Pharrell and his protege, Tyler, The Creator, sound like they’re having a ball on the hard-hitting song.

Let us know what you think of this brand new album, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Tyler The Creator Turns On Elon Musk As He Changes The Lyrics To ‘911/Mr. Lonely’ Live

Tyler The Creator was among the performers at Austin City Limits this past weekend, and while in Elon Musk’s home state of Texas, Tyler decided to diss the controversial billionaire entrepreneur.

On the original version of “911/Mr. Lonely,” Tyler raps (per Genius), “My thirst levels are infinity and beyond / Sippin’ on that lemonade, I need a Beyoncé / Can’t see straight, these shades are Céline Dion / Sucks you can’t gas me up, shout out to Elon / Musk.” At ACL, though, Tyler performed the song and changed that last line to, “Sucks you can’t gas me up. Man, f*ck Elon.”

Here’s a clip of the performance.

“911/Mr. Lonely” was released in 2017 on the Flower Boy album. At the time, Tyler still had admiration for Musk. During a 2015 radio appearance, Tyler spoke about Musk’s decision to free up Tesla patents, saying, “Instead of holding that patent, he’s sharing it with everyone so car companies can get on that. That is so cool because some people would be selfish and keep that to continue to make money.”

He also had a Twitter (now X) interaction with Musk in 2016. Tyler tweeted, “I HOPE YOU HAVE A GOOD DAY AND ANY IDEAS YOU HAVE AND STUFF GO FOR THEM NO MATTER WHAT N****S SAY SHOUT OUT ELON MUSK.” Musk responded, “Thanks Tyler,” and Tyler replied, “NO THANK YOU, KEEP PUSHING AND GOING AND TRYING THINGS.”

Tyler, The Creator Cooks Elon Musk By Changing Concert Lyrics: Watch

Tyler, The Creator says and does what he wants. He has undergone several phases, in terms of his subject matter and musicality, but the one constant is his irreverent sense of humor. If Tyler, The Creator has a problem with somebody, they are going to know it. Case in point, the rapper’s recent performance at ACL Fest. He performed a version of his classic 2017 song “911/Mr. Lonely,” but instead of referencing Elon Musk in a positive light, as he did on the recording, he flipped the lyrics to diss Musk.

Musk has become persona non grata in popular culture. He’s become one of the most memed and mocked celebrities in the world, and Tyler, The Creator has taken note. The original lyrics on “911/Mr. Lonely” are seemingly indifferent to Musk. The rapper works the Tesla founder into his verse because it worked with the rhyme scheme and the bar about not requiring gas. “Can’t see straight, these shades are Céline Dion,” he raps. “Sucks you can’t gas me up, shout out to Elon… Musk, yeah I got a sold out show. Crowd wild out but don’t matter ’cause you not front row.” Tyler didn’t want it to sound like he shouted out the controversial X (formerly Twitter) owner, though, and made an aggressive change.

Tyler, The Creator Used To Be A Huge Musk Fan

“Man f*ck Elon,” Tyler, The Creator rapped to an ecstatic crowd. The rapper change of heart is not uncommon. Musk used to be a semi-popular figure to praise/reference. In 2016, Tyler even heaped praise on Musk for providing an electric alternative to gas powered vehicles. Ironically, the praise was through the app that Musk would eventually purchase, Twitter. “@elonmusk I LOVE YOU THANK YOU FOR CHANGING THE WORLD,” he wrote. “AND MAKING THE EVIL OIL MEN WHO RUN THE WORLD HATE YOU.” Tyler truly adored Musk during the mid-2010s, and would even have exchanges with the inventor on the platform.

Tyler also praised Musk during a 2015 appearance on Hot 97. The rapper was there to promote his album, Cherry Bomb, but he went off book and decided to shine a light on Musk’s achievements. He even compared the Tesla founder to rap moguls like JAY-Z, Master P and Diddy. The last one has not aged well, from any conceivable angle, but it’s hard to hold Tyler, The Creator accountable for that. He could not have known how the last decade was going to play out. A lot of people have seemingly fallen out of love with Musk, and Tyler is at the top of the list.

Tyler, The Creator Throws Around A Different Career Aspiration Due To “Annoying” Album Demands

There’s no doubt that after the release of CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST and the subsequent deluxe, The Estate Sale, fans have been wanting a new Tyler, The Creator project. It’s highly arguable that it’s his best body of work and it’s for sure one of the strongest LPs of the 2020’s decade. But since it hit platforms in 2021, the outspoken multi-talent has been sticking to performances and interviews. Tyler is extremely passionate about his craft and the genre overall, but he’s made it known that he finds his fans annoying and weird.

He expressed those sentiments in an interview with Maverick Carter saying how they feel like they deserve to know everything. So, it’s no surprise that he’s doing more of the same on social media. According to HipHopDX, collaborator Steve Lacy shared a post to IG with the caption, “album this album that what happen to hello?” This is something that Creator clearly resonated with, because he got in the comments to share Lacy’s feelings. “I feel you s*** is annoying,” he began. “Especially when I never said out my mouth an album was coming.” i wanna be an actress lmfao

However, what some are reading into is the fact that he threw around the idea of switching careers. “I wanna be an actress lmfao.” This could all be just a joke or he’s saying that to enhance how much these constant demands for music can get under his skin. But with Tyler making his film debut in Marty Supreme, an A24 production about the pro ping pong player, it does raise our eyebrows a bit. Tyler has done some voice acting in the past for popular cartoon shows too, so it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility that he takes a different path.

What are your thoughts on Tyler, The Creator saying he wants to become an “actress” due to “annoying” fans asking for an album? Do you think he was speaking seriously or jokingly? Do Lacy and Tyler have a point with their statements? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Tyler, The Creator. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Tyler, The Creator Blasts Fans For Spreading False Album Rumors

Tyler, The Creator has been on a creative over the last decade. The rapper broke through at the tail end of the 2000s, but it’s his last three albums that have really captivated fans and critics. The desire for new Tyler music makes sense. Musically, lyrically, and thematically, he’s one of the most ambitious people in the business. That doesn’t mean Tyler, The Creator has a new album around the corner, though. He had bad news for fans on October 7, along with some critiques for presumptuous fans.

Tyler, The Creator wasn’t even part of the initial fan interaction that took place on Instagram. He noticed that Steve Lacy, a former Odd Future affiliate and frequent collaborator, was being harassed by fans for new music. Lacy vented his frustrations in an Instagram comment. “Album this album that,” he asserted. “What happened to hello?” Tyler, The Creator seemingly felt similarly, as he jumped in to endorse Lacy’s comment. “I feel you,” the rapper noted. “Sh*t is annoying especially when I never said out my mouth an album was coming.” This is true. Tyler has not announced any new music since the release of The Estate Sale, the deluxe version of his last studio album, in 2023.

Tyler, The Creator Is Focused On Acting Right Now

Furthermore, Tyler, The Creator told his fans that he has other creative ventures he wants to pursue. He wants to get into acting, most notably. “I wanna be an actress Imfao,” he wrote at the end of his post. In keeping with the rapper’s statement, he has taken massive strides towards a Hollywood career in recent years. He recently booked a supporting role in the upcoming A24 film Marty Supreme. Tyler, The Creator will be making his dramatic debut opposite an impressive cast of stars like Timothee Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Fran Drescher and Abel Ferrera. The irony of this casting, of course, is that Tyler referenced the star of the film in his 2017 song “OKRA.” “Tell Tim Chalamet to come get at me,” he spit. “Skin glowin’, clear of acne. Diamonds see-through, so holographic.”

Tyler, The Creator’s musical output has noticeably lessened in the last couple years. His last feature was on the recent Maxo Kream single “Cracc Era.” Tyler’s guest verse prior to that collab was in 2022, on The Weeknd song “Here We Go… Again.” It will be exciting to see how Tyler, The Creator fares in the next chapter of his entertainment career. That said, he does have a brand new song on the way. The Odd Future founder is going to appear on the remix to “Virginia Boy,” which will be on the soundtrack to Pharrell’s biopic Piece By Piece.

Pharrell Reveals Incredible Tracklist For “Piece By Piece” Soundtrack

Pharrell is in legacy mode. The legendary artist and producer is on the cusp of releasing a LEGO biopic about his life, Piece By Piece. There’s a lot to get through, given all the different hats he’s worn. Each of these hats has been accompanied by incredible music, though. Pharrell has finally unveiled the tracklist for the Piece By Piece soundtrack, and it lived up to the hype. Not only will fans get an assembly of some of the artist’s most beloved songs, but some new ones too. And a brand new collab with protege, Tyler, The Creator.

There are some obvious inclusions here, as they rank among the biggest hits of Pharrell’s career. We’re talking songs like “Get Lucky” with Daft Punk and “Alright” with Kendrick Lamar. There’s also “Happy,” which remains Skateboard P’s biggest solo hit to date. It appeared on the soundtrack to another kids film, Despicable Me 2, so no-brainer there. Less expected, but just as welcome, are the inclusions of classic N.E.R.D. songs like “Sooner or Later,” “God Bless Us All” and “Maybe.” N.E.R.D. is an essential piece of the Pharrell puzzle, so it’s nice to know they made the cut.

Then there’s “L’Ego Odyssey” and “For Real,” which will also play crucial roles in the narrative. Then there’s a previously unheard Tyler, The Creator remix to the song “Virginia Boy.” It’s been a minute since these two have worked together, and we can’t wait to hear what it sounds like. Piece By Piece soundtrack is slated to drop October 11.
