XXXTENTACION & Trippie Redd’s “F**k Love” Goes Diamond 5 Years After Death

Exactly five years after his tragic passing, XXXTENTACION’s legacy continues to make shockwaves in the music industry. Say what you will about his personal demons and accountability, but he carved out a lane that many continue to follow and be inspired by. Today, Sunday June 18, his estate mourned his loss but celebrated his work by officially releasing his Lil Uzi Vert collab, “I’m Not Human.” Also on this anniversary, his track with Trippie Redd “F**k Love” was certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), according to their website. Not only that, but today is also the Ohio native’s 24th birthday, who is celebrating a new single of his own this week.

As such, this marks an incredibly special, rare, but what feels like a destined milestone for both artists. While XXXTENTACION’s commercial success cannot be overstated and Trippie Redd has had plenty of that as well, this is the latter’s first diamond track ever. For those unaware, that equates 10 million certified equivalent units, which is a huge feat even for today’s prolific streaming era. No matter how you slice it, this news seemed written in the stars.

Back when the 17 track went six times platinum, the now-24-year-old paid tribute to the Florida rap innovator. In fact, looking back on his short but sweet message, it’s remarkable to see how his affirmation became true less than three years later. “Damn bro @xxxtentacion it’s cr*zy how we gone be diamond together… I love u & miss u,” Trippie Redd shared on Instagram. During an interview with Complex, the A Love Letter To You artist gave an emotional testimony when remembering his collaborator. “Literally, right before I went [to jail], Jah had sent in the ‘F**k Love’ track and we had talked to each other,” he expressed. “We had good words for each other. At the end of the day, we always used to argue and s**t. We was like some little a** girls. [laughs] But we always made up from our arguments.

“The last argument was very serious but we ended up getting past it and s**t,” he continued. “I got locked up, and then like the day I got out, that s**t happened. Like literally, I’m driving to my lawyer office, and I just don’t feel the vibe or the energy. It’s like, I’m gettin’ outta jail and I could just feel something was wrong. And everybody knew it, they knew I felt that way, ’cause somebody that just got out of jail would be happy. I wasn’t really happy at all, I was just feeling weird. And we got to the building and s**t, my lawyer son came up, was talkin’ about…f**k that s**t.” Today, we can grieve but also celebrate the impact that these artists have that will continue to grow. Trippie Redd’s Smooth Grooving ‘Took My Breath Away’ Video Is A Total Departure From His Grungy Sound

Trippie Redd’s long been recognized for the grungy sound of his rock-inspired emo-rap, but his latest single, the smooth-grooving “Took My Breath Away” featuring Skye Morales, is a total departure from that grittier style. It has more in common with mid-2000s Quiet Storm radio-inspired hits from the likes of Fabolous and LL Cool J, with an R&B-inflected beat and chorus and a more straightforward, old-school rap delivery that makes use of a set of skills Trippie’s always had but hasn’t always utilized. It sounds a bit like a Wiz Khalifa outtake — a really good one.

Judging from the press release for the single, which also officially announces his next album, A Love Letter To You 5, fans might get to see a lot more of this Trippie Redd in the future, as the release cites a “new chapter” for the Ohio rap-crooner. Trippie’s last A Love Letter To You album, the fourth in the series, came out in 2019 and blended Nirvana-esque guitar strumming with thumping trap drums and plenty of wounded dog howling from Trippie vocally, although there were offerings like the upbeat soft-rocker “‘Til The End Of Time,” as well.

Trippie’s last few albums, though, have leaned more heavily on either the Lex Luger-ish and murky Pi’erre Bourne-inspired video game trap of (the apparently rushed) Mansion Muzik and Trip At Knight. With his latest transformation, Trippie proves he remains one of the most versatile rappers in music today. You can watch his “Took My Breath Away” video up top and stay tuned for more on A Love Letter To You 5.

Trippie Redd Claims No Artist Is As Versatile As Him

Ahead of the release of his next album A Love Letter To You 5, Trippie Redd is really feeling himself on Twitter. On Tuesday evening (June 13), the Ohio rapper, singer, and songwriter made a comment on his versatility as an artist and credited it as his main claim to fame. Not only that, but he argued that he’s on a whole other level when it comes to his production and sonic tendencies on his records. Sure, you might have your preferred picks when it comes to that area and arguments against him, but there’s no denying that Trippie’s walked many different lanes as a creative. With his next single dropping this week, we’ll see if he puts his money where his mouth is and comes through with another great record.

“I’m versatile,” Trippie Redd fired off on Twitter. “I blew up off of that alone. Judge me for how I look talk smoke breath but ur fav artist probably ain’t on my level sonically. I took a break from real music to make rage music it was fun but now it’s time.” Interestingly enough, reception to his rage album MANSION MUSIK wasn’t the best, but it still did pretty good numbers and had some highlights. To not label rage as “real music” seems like an unnecessary jab, but hopefully that reflects that he wants to make something more true to himself this time around.

Meanwhile, another wish is that ALLTY5 doesn’t fall victim to the same pitfalls of leaks and hackers that his previous album fell to. During a conversation with Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1, Trippie Redd explained that hackers tampered with the release of MANSION MUSIK and caused him and his team to have to rush certain elements. “I ain’t really speak on it, but I’m going to speak on it,” the 23-year-old shared. “I was held for ransom on my project. They had all my records. Every single last one. All the features.” He continued to explain that he had to “rush the project out,” which affected the mixing. “That’s what Travis sent to me [on “KRAZY TRAIN”], I didn’t mix it.

“I had to run with it because if I didn’t, the whole project was going to release,” he continued. “They have been hacking and leaking s**t, at least my last two, three albums. Pegasus, it probably leaked two months before it dropped, bro, and it still did extremely well. I was like, if I don’t drop it now, then it’s going to be out there, and they’re going to hear it regardless. They’re going to hear the bad mix regardless, so I’m going to put it out unmixed and see what they think. Yeah, the album did leak, actually, two. I work through anything. God got the last laugh, you feel me? Like the devil going to throw so much at you, you can’t really let it bother you. Just take the bruises, you’ll heal eventually.” For the latest on Trippie Redd, log back into HNHH.

Trippie Redd Shares Emotive & Wavy New Snippet

It’s been a few months now since the release of Trippie Redd’s polarizing last album, MANSION MUSIK, which kicked off 2023 back in January. While it had some standout highlights, many weren’t feeling the long tracklist and general lack of variety. After all, the Ohio native is known for the many different styles, emotions, vocal cadences, and types of beats that he plays with across his work. However, if you’re one of those fans that wants Trippie to tap back into his emotions, maybe that’s what’s coming soon. He just put a new snippet of an unreleased track on his Instagram featuring his girlfriend Skye Morales that hints toward a departure from his rage tendencies on MANSION MUSIK.

Furthermore, the snippet deals in heartbreak, finding it hard to fall in love, and feeling betrayed by a past relationship. With a guitar in the background as its harmonic driver, a simple trap beat, and Trippie Redd’s melodic sung vocals, it certainly doesn’t sound like anything on his last album. In fact, it seems like he hinted towards the upcoming release of A Love Letter To You 5 in his caption, specifically its first single. “LEFT 4 DEAD,” he captioned the post with presumably the teased single in question. “COMMENT 555 if u ready for the first single from the album.”

Trippie Redd’s New Snippet, Presumably For Lead ALLTY5 Single “LEFT 4 DEAD”

Unfortunately Trippie Redd’s past releases faced roadblocks from hackers holding his music hostage for $1 million. It seems like the greatest effect that had was on the track “KRZY TRAIN” with Travis Scott. According to the 23-year-old, he had to release the unmixed original cut of the song because the whole album would’ve leaked first otherwise. It’s a shame that such an anticipated release faced that robbery, but that was one of the tracks people liked the most from MANSION MUSIK. As such, it seems like everything worked out in the end.

Meanwhile, the “Sweeter Scars” artist probably brought a lot of fans’ hopes up with this snippet. For hardcore Big 14 fans, it indicated that he would go back to the genre blends and emotive songwriting that they love him for. That’s not to say that he can’t do how he pleases with each release, but if anyone can balance so many worlds, it’s him. Trippie Redd Reveals To Wack 100 Why He Paints His Nails

An easily overlooked trend has taken over the rap scene in recent years: rappers painting their nails. From A$AP Rocky to NBA YoungBoy, even to Kid Cudi, many top charting artists have turned to nail polish to add flare to their look. Additionally, Trippie Redd is amongst the men following this rockstar-esque beauty trend, and he spoke out about why he does it. His response was triggered based on an Instagram post by veteran music manager Wack 100. In the post, Wack asked for clarity on this trend.

By no means was Wack attacking rappers who wear colors on their nails. According to HipHopDX, he respectfully clarified where he was coming from. “To to the youngsters out there, I’m hearing something about emo and all this other shit. Can y’all leave a comment down below on what the fingernail polish represent?” he continued, “because of some of the youngsters I mentioned that I know, I don’t think it means it that [they’re feminine]. I just think it’s another type of movement.” Furthermore, Wack explained where his confusion remained. He emphasized on how he’s a “’70s baby” whose trends included wearing only one earring and sagging pants. Additionally, he described how these movements were often looked down on by older generations, similar to how nail polish on rappers is perceived now.

Trippie’s Method Of Self Care

The post had attracted the attention of Trippie, who took to the comment section to respond. Trippie responded simply: “It’s a way of expressing ur feelings, being true to your self and self-care.” The 23-year-old rapper has rocked many different nail art looks over the years, including smiley faces, an homage to 2Pac, and a go-to classic matte black.

Wack’s question hasn’t been the only time where rappers wearing nail polish has been questioned. In fact, Soulja Boy took a more aggressive stance on the matter when he attacked rappers for painting their nails and wearing lipstick. He urged these men to “stop playing,” and claimed he would never do such a thing. The Chicago rapper’s rant rubbed NBA YoungBoy the wrong way, and his response revealed that his feelings were hurt. Previously, YoungBoy had explained his own reasonings for decorating his body, explaining that “I like to look in the mirror and see everything black. Like my eyes and shit. That’s one hundred percent real! That’s me being myself. I feel comfortable that way … It give me like the goth feeling, like rockstars.”

Trippie Redd Says He Has Another Album On The Way, Just Two Weeks After Releasing ‘Mansion Musik’

Last month, Trippie Redd released Mansion Musik, a 25-track album with production primarily handled by Chief Keef. While this seems like enough music to tide fans over for a long period of time, he recently revealed that Mansion Musik is the precursor to something even more impressive.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Trippie teased a new project called Love Letter.

“I’m trying to come up with the cover art and add a few songs for that record,” said Trippie. “So, I wanted to do this new one to do a Lil Wayne, Sorry 4 The Wait, type of deal.”

Trippie was referring to Lil Wayne’s 2011 mixtape, Sorry 4 The Wait, which came out months before Weezy’s hotly anticipated album, Tha Carter IV.

Elsewhere in the interview, Trippie recalled the era of rap, which launched the careers of Trippie, Playboi Carti, and Lil Uzi Vert.

He spoke fondly on the era, saying, “The time and space we were in, at that era, was one of the best eras in music. Everyone was more open and trying to be pure. There was an open space to be creative in the music industry.

He lamented the current state of the industry, saying “Now, people are more like business partners.”
