Bowen Yang Went On ‘The View’ And Spilled Behind-The-Scenes Details Of Taylor Swift’s (Very) Surprise ‘SNL’ Appearance

After Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce made a surprise appearance at last weekend’s Saturday Night Live premiere, speculation began running wild that the power couple really did just show up and the cast and crew scrambled to include them in the episode hosted by Pete Davidson. According to SNL star, Bowen Yang, the rumors are true.

While promoting Dicks: The Musical on Thursday’s episode of The View, Yang confirmed to co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin that Swift and Kelce magically emerged at the 30 Rock studio to the surprise of everyone.

“This did not come about in any way!” Yang said via Decider. “No one was told that they would be there.”

“I’m going to my makeup chair after dress rehearsal, I see a couple people talking to the two tallest people in the world, and then I realized it was them,” Yang recalled. “To see them individually as tall people I go, ‘Amazing,’ but when they’re next to each other, it’s a force multiplier. These two people, it’s The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. I’m in the Redwood Forest. It’s amazing.”

“But there they are. I mean yeah, they just showed up,” Yang said in conclusion. “It was incredible. It just reminds you that SNL and The View are the kinds of shows where live TV is beautiful, people drop by, things happen.”

‘The View’ Ladies Are Not Here For The ‘Innuendos’ And ‘Sexism’ Surrounding Joe Jonas And Sophie Turner’s Divorce

The ladies of The View are not loving the “spin” around Joe Jonas filing for divorce from Sophie Turner. The pop singer made moves to end the marriage earlier this week, and since then, someone has been attempting to paint the Game of Thrones actress as a party animal who’s not tending to the couple’s kids.

The most recent addition involves photos of Turner drinking, which were published in the Daily Mail. However, The View co-hosts quickly jumped to her defense by noting some crucial context: Turner was at a wrap party for her new series Joan.

Via The Wrap:

“I think the spin of this that bothers me is, she’s working, he’s working,” Sara Haines said. “These weren’t new careers. They met on these terms. She’s at a wrap party for a show she did,” — Haines was referring to a photo of Turner out at a bar with people — “We have wrap parties here. You celebrate the end! So that isn’t just a bar that she’s out hanging out, she happens to be with her colleagues at a bar, celebrating the end of a series.”

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin took things even further by calling out the shady reports of Jonas allegedly seeing or hearing something through the couple’s Ring camera.

“I sense some innuendo and undertones here of sexism,” Griffin said. “There’s even more out there, I don’t even want to give it steam, but like, alleging things that are on a camera without even saying what it was that they saw?”

Sunny Hostin, on the other hand, was far more blunt.

“I’m sorry, is this an immaculate conception?” she said in response to reports that Jonas had the children with him on tour. “So what, he’s taking care of the kids. Like, does he get a gold star?”

Ice Cube Says He Was Banned From Oprah Winfrey’s Show & “The View”

Ice Cube says that Oprah Winfrey wouldn’t have him on her platform. He discussed his issues with Winfrey as well as The View during an interview with Tucker Carlson on his new Twitter show, Tuesday.

“I tried to go on The View. They didn’t have me on The View,” he began. “A few of the hosts just really didn’t like where I was coming from. That’s what I was told by the producers. I don’t know if it was the producers was just copping out and using some of the hosts to have me not explain myself. I’ve been on there before. It’s just when I’ve become an independent thinker. I don’t follow their brand of politics I guess.”

He further said: “I’ve been excluded on Oprah. I don’t know that it is. You know, I had a movie called Barbershop that I wasn’t invited to participate with the cast [on Oprah’s show]. I produced a show called Black White. It was a very controversial show and once again [Oprah] had the whole cast on and I wasn’t invited. So I don’t know what that’s really about. I really don’t know [why]. That’s something that I would love to find out.”

It’s not the first time Cube has expressed issues with Oprah Winfrey. Speaking with the magazine, FHM, in 2006, he previously revealed that the talk show host wouldn’t have him on for his aforementioned film, Barbershop. “For Barbershop, she had Cedric The Entertainer and Eve on, but I wasn’t invited. She’s had damn rapists, child molesters, and lying authors on her show. And if I’m not a rags-to-riches story for her, who is?” he said at the time.

‘The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Took A Selfie With A 91-Year-Old Fan While The Panel Argued Over Miranda Lambert

The View had a very animated panel discussion on Tuesday morning as the co-hosts tackled the latest controversy surrounding Miranda Lambert. The country music star recently made headlines after she scolded fans for taking selfies during a performance at her Las Vegas residency on Saturday night.

While new evidence has come to light that shows the selfie-takers were being pretty obnoxious, The View panel was notably divided on who was out of line: Lambert or the fans. Sunny Hostin argued that she’s “going to take as many selfies as I want if I paid $757 for tickets,” which did not go over well with Whoopi Goldberg.

Via Entertainment Weekly:

“You know what? Stay home,” the Oscar-winning Ghost actress said. “If you’re going to spend $750 to come to my concert, then give me the respect of watching me while I do my thing, or don’t come.”

After Hostin said that she likes to keep memories from concerts on her phone to rewatch, Goldberg got up from her moderator seat and said, “Turn on the television, girl.”

However, Goldberg then did something that completely contradicted her argument. In the middle of the panel discussion, the co-host got up out of her seat and walked off camera to the surprise of the panel. “I’m leaving y’all,” Goldberg said as she headed into the audience for a surprise twist.

“I want to take a picture with this marvelous woman, who is 91. So, we’re going to do a selfie. Just me and you,” Goldberg said while posing for the photo. “Will you push that button? We’ll be right back.”

Harry and Meghan In Danger? Many Express Doubt About Alleged Car Chase

Whoopi Goldberg didn’t seem convinced about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s description of a “near catastrophic” car chase they experienced. During an episode of The View, Goldberg joked about the incident. She remarked, “If it was possible to have car chases in New York, we’d all make it to the theater on time.” The host expressed doubt that the incident reached the level of severity portrayed by their spokesperson. Her co-host Joy Behar chimed in, pointing out that even ambulances aren’t able to get through traffic in New York.

TV host Megyn Kelly also weighed in on the incident during her SiriusXM show. She suggested that Harry and Meghan were exaggerating the situation to garner attention. Bethenny Frankel expressed skepticism as well, referring to the couple as “babies who want attention.” However, she acknowledged that the situation sounded scary. “Perhaps this was the worst car chase since Princess Diana, but people have a hard time believing it,” Frenkel said. “It’s a story that keeps being pushed.” She then encouraged the couple to take precautions to avoid such circumstances in the future.

Harry and Meghan’s Spokesperson Paints A Very Dramatic Picture

Harry and Meghan’s spokesperson released a lengthy statement about the alleged incident. “This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians, and two NYPD officers,” the spokesperson said. “While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it should never come at the cost of anyone’s safety. Dissemination of these images, given the ways in which they were obtained, encourages a highly intrusive practice that is dangerous to all involved.”

Harry and Meghan have demanded that the agency that employs the paparazzi members involved hand over the footage. However, they have refused. “In America, as I’m sure you know, property belongs to the owner of it. Third parties cannot just demand it be given to them, as perhaps Kings can do,” said the agency’s lawyer. “You should sit down with your client and advise them that his English rules of royal prerogative to demand that the citizenry hand over their property to the Crown were rejected by this country long ago. We stand by our founding fathers.” It is certainly a dramatic statement, but it is also no doubt effective. What do you think of the situation? Is the couple exaggerating? Sound off in the comments!

Jane Fonda Jokingly Suggests “Murder” To Support Women’s Reproductive Rights

Jane Fonda suggested “murder” as a way of fighting for women’s reproductive rights during a recent appearance on The View. After the clip went viral, the iconic actress later clarified to Fox News that she made the comment in jest. On the show, she had been discussing the overturning of Roe v. Wade with her Grace and Frankie co-star, Lily Tomlin.

“We have experienced many decades now of having agency over our body, of being able to determine when and how many children to have,” she said. “We now what that feels like, we know what that’s done for our lives. We’re not going back. I don’t care what the laws are. We’re not going back… It’s the truth. We’re not going to do it.” When asked by host Joy Behar, “Besides marching and protesting, what else do you suggest?” Fonda bluntly remarked, “murder”.

As for her statement for Fox News, Fonda wrote: “While women’s reproductive rights are a very serious issue and extremely important to me, my comment on The View was obviously made in jest. My body language and tone made it clear to those in the room – and to anyone watching – that I was using hyperbole to make a point.” She added: “Women across the country are facing real threats when it comes to our bodies, and people lose faith in our mission to protect women when others choose to focus on tangential issues and passing jokes instead of the actual problem at hand.”

The comments sparked plenty of backlash on social media. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene was among the voices to speak out against Fonda on Twitter. “Calling for us to be assassinated makes ‘The View,’ the hosts, the producers, the network, the advertisers, and everyone involved responsible for death threats, attacks, and potential murders of Pro-Life politicians and activists,” she said in part. She also labeled herself an “Unapologetic Pro-Life Politician.”

Oprah Winfrey & More Mourn Barbara Walters Passing

Barbara Walters’ peers are flooding social media with fond memories of the beloved journalist. Everyone from Oprah Winfrey to Star Jones is speaking light about the passing of Walters — who passed away Friday at age 93.

Oprah has always been vocal about her respect for Walters. The Queen of media took to Instagram to share her condolences regarding the late broadcaster’s death. “Without Barbara Walters there wouldn’t have been me,” Winfrey began. “Nor any other woman you see on evening, morning, and daily news. She was indeed a Trailblazer. I did my very first television audition with her in mind the whole time. Grateful to have known her.”

Walters’ former “The View” cohost Star Jones also penned a heartfelt note following the news of her passing. “I owe Barbara Walters more than I could ever repay. Rest well sister…mother…friend…colleague…mentor.”

Rosie Perez, who also sat alongside Barbara on View, tweeted her reaction to the recasting loss. “An amazing woman,” Perez wrote. “Amazing loss. Shattering the glass ceiling is a huge understatement. She decimated it. Paved the way for so many. I  feel very proud/humble to have known her & to have worked with her.”

Walters broke down several barriers through her nearly 60 year career. She  joined ABC News in 1976, becoming the first female anchor on an evening news program. Three years later, she became a co-host of “20/20,” and in 1997, she launched The View.

After 17 years as host of the daytime talk show, Barbara made her final appearance in 2014.  “I do not want to appear on another program or climb another mountain,” she said at the time. “I want instead to sit on a sunny field and admire the very gifted women — and OK, some men too — who will be taking my place.”

Our thoughts are with Barbara Walters family and friends at this times.

Whoopi Goldberg Doubles Down On Antisemitic Comments

Whoopi Goldberg reiterated her antisemitic comments on the Holocaust during a new interview with The Times. ABC previously suspended her from The View for claiming that the Holocaust wasn’t “about race,” earlier this year.

Speaking to The Times, Goldberg said that the Nazis didn’t originally target Jews on the basis of race. The conversation arose after Goldberg explained her name came from a “distant Jewish ancestor.”

“My best friend said, ‘Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish race. So that leads me to believe that we’re probably not a race,’” Goldberg said at one point.

Times columnist Janice Turner says she pushed back on Goldberg’s claim.

“But the point here, I say, is [the] Nazis saw Jews as a race,” Turner told The View host. She also referenced the Nazis measuring “the heads and noses of Jews to ‘prove’ they were a distinct race.”

“Remember who they were killing first,” Goldberg countered. “They were not killing racial; they were killing physical. They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision. It doesn’t change the fact that you could not tell a Jew on a street. You could find me. You couldn’t find them. That was the point I was making.”

Whoopi Goldberg originally remarked that the Holocaust “isn’t about race” during an episode of The View in February. She later shared a statement apologizing for the claim on social media.

Goldberg’s latest antisemitic comments come as Kanye West has come under fire for frequently making similarly offensive remarks.
