Cardi B Surprised The Crowd At Madonna’s Show By Joining As A Celebrity Judge For The ‘Vogue’ Dance-Off

As Madonna has been making stops across North America as part of The Celebration Tour, she has also brought a ton of surprise guests to join the party. During one segment of the show, Madonna brings out a celebrity judge to help her rank a dance-off that takes place during “Vogue.” And for her Monday (March 11) concert in Los Angeles, it was none other than Cardi B who came to help out.

Cardi and Madonna matched their blonde hair and black bodysuits as they held up the “10” or “Chop” cards. The two sat on chairs and just let the dancers show off their skills.

Although they had previously collaborated on Quavo’s “Champagne Rose” back in 2018, which appeared on the rapper’s debut album, Madonna and Cardi B had a brief dispute on social media back in 2022. “I literally [paid] this woman homage so many times cause I grew up listening to her,” Cardi wrote at the time, according to Variety. “She can make her point without putting clown emojis and getting slick out the mouth.”

Yet, they immediately patched things up with a phone call. “I talked to Madonna… It was beautiful… Have a great day and drive safely yallll,” Cardi added.

“I love you @iamcardib!!” Madonna tweeted back. “Always have and always will.”

Madonna’s The Celebration Tour has been a spectacle to witness, and folks in Inglewood, California for her Monday night performance (March 11) had a great surprise to enjoy. Moreover, the one and only Cardi B walked out onstage to rate a dance-off with the pop legend for “Vogue,” and this celebrity guest slot during this song is a staple of her shows at this point. The “CHAMPAGNE ROSÉ” collaborators held up signs reading “10” or “CHOP” as the dancers strutted their stuff. What’s more is that the Bronx rapper twerked for the crowd and for the dancers, too, and you know for a fact that she got a ten from her peers.

Overall, it was a pretty glamorous, raunchy, and above all fun performance from two dominant artists in their fields. The influence that the “Like A Virgin” icon laid down for generations to come is undeniable and deeply rooted, even if affirmation of this can come off as combative. For example, Madonna and Cardi B were actually at odds for a couple of hours thanks to a seemingly dismissive post from the former to the latter, which Cardi didn’t appreciate considering her consistent fandom. But they spoke and cleared things up, and it became apparent that it was just a simple misunderstanding.

Cardi B & Madonna Host A “Vogue” Dance-Off On Tour: Watch

Furthermore, there are other non-Cardi B aspects of The Celebration Tour that weren’t as warmly received. Fortunately, these examples seem to have resolved amicably and without much fuss. One of them is how Madonna removed an image of Luther Vandross from her AIDS tribute during her concerts after his estate clarified that he never claimed to have AIDS or HIV. He actually passed away due to stroke complications.

Madonna AIDS Tribute Has Luther Vandross’ Estate Addressing His Inclusion

Even in her mid-60s, Madonna continues to make waves throughout the music world. She’s currently embarking on her Celebration Tour, which has consistently been in the news for everything from on-stage tumbles to now, an unnecessary tribute to the late Luther Vandross. As TMZ notes, the legendary singer passed away in 2005 due to complications from a prior stroke, not AIDS, as the Queen of Pop seemed to suggest during a recent show. While honouring friends like Freddie Mercury and Keith Haring, who openly battled the disease, an image of Vandross flashed up on the screen while Madonna was performing “Live to Tell.”

“Luther Vandross passed away in 2005 due to complications from a stroke suffered two years earlier,” a representative told Page Six this week. “While we appreciate Madonna’s recognition of those lives lost to AIDS, Luther was NEVER diagnosed with AIDS or the HIV Virus,” they doubled down. During his life, the New York native addressed gossip about his health head-on, calling out a British magazine in the mid-80s that suggested his dramatic weight loss was related to a battle with AIDS.

Luther Vandross Didn’t Have AIDS, Despite Queen of Pop Honouring Him On Tour

Vandross’ image is no longer a part of Madonna’s tribute segment, and it seems the matter between both parties was resolved amicably. The “Le Freak” artist never came out as anything other than a straight man while in the spotlight, though his sexuality clearly remains a hot topic of conversation.

Madonna and her team might’ve missed the mark when attempting to pay homage to Luther Vandross, but hip-hop has done a great job of continuing the late vocalist’s legacy over the years. Chuck D Defends Madonna & Labels Criticism Over Her Performances “Ageism”

Chuck D came to the defense of Madonna on Twitter, last week, amid criticism of her The Celebration Tour. In doing so, he labeled the attacks against her examples of “ageism” and compared it to “racism.” The 63-year-old Public Enemy rapper explained that the singer has “some hard songs” in her catalog.

“At 63 i know i can bike better than i ever did and Pilates aint easy but i give it to @Madonna for pushing the bars,” he wrote. “@FlavorFlav is taking Pilates too and hes 64. So ageism sometimes gets like racism both ways if you let it. For anyone over 50 the rule is either you do the songs or the songs do you. @Madonna has some hard songs to perform in her catalogue.”

Madonna Reflects On Life-Threatening Hospitalization: “I Was Given Another Chance”

Madonna reflected on her recent hospitalization from a bacterial infection during the latest stop on her Celebration Tour in Belgium on Saturday night. In doing so, she recalled losing her mother to breast cancer at the age of just five years old.

“Less than four months ago, I was in a hospital and I was unconscious, and people were thinking, predicting that I might not make it,” she said to the audience at Sportpaleis in Merksem. “It’s a f***ing miracle that I’m here right now. My mother, god bless her, she must be watching over me — she said, ‘Girl, it’s not your time to go.’” Madonna added: “I had this strange thought. I suddenly had sympathy for my mother, not about the dying part, but how lonely she must have felt being in hospital, knowing that she wasn’t going to live.”

During the performance, she spoke to fans about the difficulties she underwent trying to pull the tour off. Most notably, she suffered a major health scare earlier this year that left her hospitalized while fans speculated on her well-being. Now that the tour has officially begun she shared some new details with fans. “I didn’t think I was going to make it, neither did my doctors. Beyonce posed for a picture with Madonna and her children while traveling to perform on her Renaissance World Tour. In addition to the backstage meet-up, Beyonce also shouted out “the queen,” on stage at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. “Queen Mother, Madonna, we love you,” Beyonce remarked.

When The Jasmine Brand posted the picture on Instagram, fans shared plenty of jokes. The meet-up with Beyonce comes after Madonna was recently hospitalized with a bacterial infection. Her longtime manager Guy Oseary confirmed reports of her health troubles at the time. “On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which [led] to a several day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected,” Oseary wrote on his Instagram account. “At this time, we will need to pause all commitments, which includes the tour.” The following month, she broke her silence on the situation with a post on social media thanking her fans for their “positive energy, Prayers and words of healing and encouragement.”

Regardless of the hospital stay, Madonna appears to still be embarking on her The Celebration Tour in the fall. The move comes despite her postponement of the initial North American leg that she had scheduled for the summer. Madonna be visiting cities across North America and Europe for a total of 84 shows. The legendary pop star announced the tour with a video featuring Lil Wayne, Eric Andre, and more, earlier this year.

Madonna Tongued Jack Black, Re-Created An NSFW Photo With Lil Wayne, And More In A Wild New Tour Promo Video

Today, Madonna announced The Celebration Tour, a trek that will see Madonna playing hits from across her four-decade career. Madonna, ever the shock-friendly performer, unveiled the news with a wild new video featuring Jack Black, Lil Wayne, Diplo, Judd Apatow, Eric Andre, Amy Schumer, Bob The Drag Queen, Kate Berlant, Larry Owens, and Meg Stalter.

The five-minute clip features a truth-or-dare game between the celebrities as they sit around a table. Madonna kicks things off by daring Schumer to simulate how she would lick her husband’s butt, which she does by not doing it. Andre then dared Diplo to dip his balls in his margarita and drink it, and he obliged. Diplo then turned the tables back on Madonna, who he instructed to “tongue-kiss” Black, and indeed, she did just that.

There are some more shenanigans from there — including Madonna, Wayne, and Black posing for a racy photo — but the whole thing ends with one final dare, from Schumer to Madonna: to go on a world tour. Of course, given the purpose of the video, Madonna accepted.

In a statement, Madonna said of the upcoming trek, “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for.”

Madonna is embarking on a tour across the world in 2023 and teamed up with Lil Wayne, Eric Andre, and more celebrities to make the announcement. The Celebration Tour will see the legendary singer performing songs spanning the four decades of her career.

“I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” Madonna said in a statement.

Other celebrities to make appearances in the video include Diplo, Judd Apatow, Jack Black, Bob The Drag Queen, Kate Berlant, Larry Owens, Meg Stalter, and Amy Schumer.

Tickets for The Celebration Tour will go on sale Friday. The tour will kick off on July 15 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, BC, before stopping in Seattle, New York City, London, and many more cities.
