Quavo, Takeoff and Gucci Mane Dismiss The Competition On The Confident “Us Vs Them”

Confidence can take people far in life, and it only gets boosted more when it is clear no one can compare. Quavo and Takeoff go the duo route once again, this time tapping fellow Atlanta native Gucci Mane for the confident anthem “Us Vs Them.” Takeoff handles the hook before getting into his verse, followed by Quavo who raps with a fury, and Gucci Mane closes things off with a shoutout to the currently incarcerated Young Thug and Gunna.

The video shows the trio rapping while flanked by beautiful women. With some sports references in the track, it only makes sense for the ladies to be holding basketballs in addition to football players going at it and a boxer landing jabs into a punching bag.

This isn’t Quavo and Takeoff’s first foray into their own music as a duo. Back in May, they released “Hotel Lobby” under the duo name Unc And Phew. The song came after speculation of Migos’s demise when it was revealed Offset and his wife, superstar rapper Cardi B, had unfollowed Quavo and Takeoff on social media. Though Quavo told GQ that the group’s solo endeavors only strengthen them as individuals and a unit, the recent announcement that he and Takeoff will be performing as Migos at the 2022 Pepsi National Battle Of The Bands only adds to the belief that the group is done.

As for Gucci Mane, he released So Icy Gang: The Reup back in June 2022. He also joined Migos onstage at the recent Rolling Loud Miami festival.

Migos May Be On Good Terms Again As They’re Set To Headline Pepsi’s 2022 National Battle Of The Bands

Nearly a year after they released their fourth album Culture III, breakup rumors regarding Migos began to swirl around the industry. It started after Offset unfollowed both Quavo and Takeoff on Instagram after the latter two announced their “Hotel Lobby” track under the moniker Unc And Phew. Both of these things pushed many fans to believe that Migos’ time together was nearing an end. Last month, the group canceled their scheduled performance at Governors Ball which only added fuel to the rumors, but it seems like all could be well in Migos land as the trio will headline Pepsi’s 2022 National Battle Of The Bands.

The National Battle Of The Bands is an annual music showcase that focuses on spotlighting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their marching bands. This year, the showcase will take place on August 27 and Migos’ performance will occur after the final band competition for the battle. The addition of Migos for the National Battle Of The Bands is a big one for the showcase as it marks the first time that a major internationally-known artist has performed at the competition.

Migos’ addition to the National Battle Of The Bands showcase comes after Quavo said that Migos’ solo endeavors help to keep the group together. “I feel like every group member has to establish themselves,” he said during an interview with GQ. “Their own body of work. If not, you start losing members.”

Quavo Gives A Promising Update About Migos’ Future Amid Breakup Rumors

Lately, it hasn’t been entirely clear where things stand with Migos. Rumors started in May that the group was breaking up, and later that month, Quavo And Takeoff teamed up for an Offset-less single, “Hotel Lobby.” Then, in June, Migos pulled out of a scheduled performance at Governors Ball.

The way Quavo tells it, though, Migos is going to be alright. In a new GQ interview, he explained that the group members’ solo activities outside of the group serve to make the trio stronger, both as individuals and as a unit.

Quavo said when it comes to the first decade of Migos, “It was all about Migos, Migos, Migos. The three of us.” He continued, “I feel like every group member has to establish themselves. Their own body of work. If not, you start losing members.” He also threw in a football metaphor, adding, “I’m a quarterback in life, but now that I want it, I’m just going to show you.”

The rapper also said he’s looking to really cultivate an acting career for himself, noting, “I kind of want to be like an Ice Cube when it comes to rapping and acting. I don’t think people realize what that man did. He did it culturally in the music and with the movies. I feel like that’s what the world’s missing right now.”

Quavo Iced Out Takeoff With A New ‘3-Headed Monster’ Chain For His Birthday

All three members of Migos have successfully Eurostepped the rumors that they’ve broken up by simply saying nothing. Instead, they’re all living their lives, releasing or teasing music, and gifting their loved ones. In the latest example of their gift-giving, Quavo presented Takeoff with a new “3-Headed Monster” chain per a TikTok video posted to his Instagram on Monday (June 20). Huncho was taking fans through a day in his life, and it goes without saying The Last Rocket artist is a major part of it.

“Happy birthday Take, you know I had to get him the three-headed monster,” Quavo says as his nephew fixes the chain around his neck.

This isn’t the first time people have seen this, as the trio has all worn it at some point throughout their careers. The last time it was seen was during the Culture III rollout.

Quavo and Takeoff recently released the single “Hotel Lobby” under their new duo name Unc & Phew. The two also delivered a scorching rendition of the track for ColorsXStudios’ Juneteenth and Black Music Month celebration in partnership with Motown Records. The popular phrase states, “You know a wise man once said nothing at all,” and Unc & Phew have no plans of allowing rumors to stop their grind.
