Quavo And Takeoff Announce Their Wu-Tang Clan-Inspired Unc And Phew Album Title

Ever since Quavo and Takeoff dropped their first Offset-less single, “Hotel Lobby,” under the mouthful of a moniker Unc And Phew, fans have wondered whether they are still Migos, whether Offset will rejoin at some point, and even whether or not Unc And Phew is actually the group’s name (no one seems to actually be using it).

And now, we know the title of their upcoming duo album thanks to a trailer shared on Quavo’s social media pages (but not the Migos pages or Takeoff’s pages, further complicating the issue). It’s ironic that the new album they just announced evokes the name of a Wu-Tang Clan member’s classic solo debut because the rollout has been one big Wu-Tang caliber question mark. Only Built For Infinity Links is due on October 7, giving them a full 30 days to sort this rollout and get fans invested.

They’re already well on the way with “Hotel Lobby” and its follow-up, “Big Stunna” featuring Birdman, but fans can’t help questioning whether this really means the end of Migos, especially since Offset has been teasing his own solo project. While each member of the group did release a solo project a few years ago and Quavo has even done group projects with other artists, the trio did make clear that they would reunite after all three individual albums were out. This time, it’s anybody’s guess, and that could work in their favor if fans decide to check out the two albums they’ve got coming out of curiosity, but it could also backfire, since fans love them so much as a trio.

Either way, we’ll find on 10/7 when Only Built For Infinity Links drops on Quality Control Music.

Quavo, Takeoff and Gucci Mane Dismiss The Competition On The Confident “Us Vs Them”

Confidence can take people far in life, and it only gets boosted more when it is clear no one can compare. Quavo and Takeoff go the duo route once again, this time tapping fellow Atlanta native Gucci Mane for the confident anthem “Us Vs Them.” Takeoff handles the hook before getting into his verse, followed by Quavo who raps with a fury, and Gucci Mane closes things off with a shoutout to the currently incarcerated Young Thug and Gunna.

The video shows the trio rapping while flanked by beautiful women. With some sports references in the track, it only makes sense for the ladies to be holding basketballs in addition to football players going at it and a boxer landing jabs into a punching bag.

This isn’t Quavo and Takeoff’s first foray into their own music as a duo. Back in May, they released “Hotel Lobby” under the duo name Unc And Phew. The song came after speculation of Migos’s demise when it was revealed Offset and his wife, superstar rapper Cardi B, had unfollowed Quavo and Takeoff on social media. Though Quavo told GQ that the group’s solo endeavors only strengthen them as individuals and a unit, the recent announcement that he and Takeoff will be performing as Migos at the 2022 Pepsi National Battle Of The Bands only adds to the belief that the group is done.

As for Gucci Mane, he released So Icy Gang: The Reup back in June 2022. He also joined Migos onstage at the recent Rolling Loud Miami festival.

Quavo And Takeoff Drop ‘Hotel Lobby’ Under The Moniker Unc And Phew

Two-thirds of the Migos are dropping heat ahead of the summer. Quavo and Takeoff have premiered their new single, “Hotel Lobby” under their new collective stage name, Unc And Phew.

The name Unc And Phew refers to their duo’s actual family dynamic, as Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle. Like many Migos tracks, “Hotel Lobby” is a braggadocious ode to wealth and debauchery. On the Murda Beatz-produced track, Takeoff opens with a verse, rapping about his love of private jets and mink coats. Quavo then takes over on the chorus, promising, “all these commas, I won’t fumble.”

In the song’s music video, directed by Quavo and Keemotion, the two pay homage to Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, and take a road trip through the desert while tripping on shrooms. When they arrive to the aforementioned hotel lobby, the shaky, blurry lenses create the effect of a trip of a lifetime.

In regards to the elephant in the room, Offset’s absence, none of the Migos have confirmed the group’s disbandment, however, rumors began to swirl about a Migos breakup after fans noticed Offset and Cardi B unfollowed Quavo and Takeoff on Instagram.

Earlier today, TMZ caught up with Quavo at LAX Airport, however, Quavo offered no comment regarding the breakup rumors.
